Understanding the Padfone Charging Policy - Asus Padfone X and S

The ASUS Padfone X allows you to charge your cell phone from the base station twice over. Now to some of us Padfone noobs here there isnt much detail given on how to execute the charging capability on demand. Ill show you how. First there are three modes you need to know.
Intelligent Mode : Uses a combonation of the Tablet Base and the Cell phones battery for prolonged battery life, when the phone is docked in the tablet charging, both the tablet base and the phone are charge simultaneously
Phone Prefered Mode : When enabled this will assure that the tablet charges the phone upon docking instantly until it reaches 100% charge. When pluged in, the phone charges first before the tablet base starts charging
Power Pack Mode : When unplugged the base station screen and features are turned off, allowing you to use the tablet base as a portable charger, charges the phone rather quicky. When you plug in the charger in this mode the tablet base charges first then the phone
To reach this mode select settings > ASUS customized settings > Padfone settings

Now choose Padfone Charging Policy
You are greeted with the options explained.
So now you know how to charge your phone in case of an emergency or when you need to get that extra bit of juice to make that important phone call.
Try to utilize the power saver feature as it really does prolong the battery life of the unit.

I am starting to wonder if something is wrong with my Padfone. First off, mine never charges to 100% in this mode. It only charges to 90%. Second, my G Watch doesn't seem to be working with it all the time. It will randomly stop sending notifications and is extremely annoying. Lastly, apps work weird (like iHeartRadio). I like this device, but it's super buggy. I'm getting ready to return it if this stuff keeps up

Which mode in particular ?

How do both devices drain battery when in intelligent mode? Obviously Phone Preferred and more so the Battery Pack mode are for keeping the phone charged as most as possible, so I'm assuming intelligent mode tries to drain both at the same time for maximum station usage?

Intelligent mode does in fact level out the battery on both devices to extend usage when the phone is docked in the tablet station.

There's also a 'PadFone Assistant' widget you can add while in tablet mode that allows several options (charging settings, email checking frequency, phone answering options, etc.)

I don't see this option on my phone. Running Asus lollipop latest firmware.

Charging policy appears to have been removed in Lollipop. I had the phone in the dock and on a charger for an hour and found that the dock was at 100%, but the phone was at 76%. I don't know what it is doing.

The latest lollipop build from asus has brought the settings back.

DUD 3500 Battery or "Training" Issues?

So I got one of those CHEAP 3500 eBay batteries from China with the bulky back cover w/o the camera lens hole plastic. You've probably seen them, they are under $10 shipped...
I'm not sure if:
A) I have a dud battery
B) Falsely labeled 3500 battery
C) My less than ideal/proper battery training did any good
D) Battery is not properly "talking" to phone - ie temp/mV/Percent
E) BatteryCalibration App is confusing the eris/ROMs
My issues with the replacement battery include:
1 - Battery life is barely any better. It feels more like a 1750 or smaller replacement. Even though the battery is THICKER than stock
2 - Max charge I can get with BatteryCalibration app for 100% is around 4200mv. 0% is around 3400mv (I don't remember the exact number). REALLY? A dead battery equals around 3400mV?
Note: I had 9% battery life today and had only about 300 less mV than my wifes phone with a stock battery. Here phone had like 88%. (Sorry I didn't jot down the exact numbers).
Note2: Currently:
Wife Phone: 57% 3809mV (Note to self - check when 100%).
My Phone: 78% 3951mV
Wife Phone: 2.1 XtraSense 5.0.1
My Phone: 2.3.7 Condemned CM7 V19 Vanilla
My Phone was replaced by Verizon a few months ago and her's is still from when when bought them new.
Any thoughts on what I need to do different (other than get some more concrete numbers to paste)?? Is my battery a Dud or falsely labeled? Other?
Try this:
- fully charge the phone, so that you get a green LED. (Not absolutely necessary, but I think will be better than doing the rest while not fully charged.)
- still plugged in, restart the phone in Recovery.
- Wipe menu, wipe battery stats
- Restart phone and unplug.
See if that gives you better battery life.
(By the way, FYI, it's xtrSENSE, not xtraSENSE. Common error.)

I thought that is what the app does... but I'll give it a try when charged.
Another thing to try is once your phone is charged. Before going into recovery, power the phone off. You'll probably notice the led go orange. Leave it plugged in until it turns green. I've even unplugged it and plugged it back in a couple of times until green every time before booting into recovery and wiping stats. Just another option to try. I've actually seen mine change to green while powered on and indicate a full charge then go to orange when I turn it off and go another 20 minutes or so before it turns green to indicate a full charge.
I'm trying doogald and CondemnedSoul's suggestions.
ATM I'm still on my 1st draining since this morning.
The problem/concern I have is the phone seems to thing the battery is still a stock 1300 battery. (Even the Battery Monitor Widget app lists the battery as 1300).
Additionally, the battery temp never varies more than 0.2 degrees per phone apps.
I'm wondering if the CHEAP battery is not properly communicating with the phone. If not, is there anything I can do other than buying the seido battery instead?
Here's an app screenshot.

A problem with battery

When I used NT unrooted, it's still battery level while unused 3-4 days, but when I root it with Indirect method and install some apps, the battery remain 60% after 2 days unused :|, I've tried some "kill process" app but it's seem didn't work . Any suggestion? Sorry because I'm newbie
Im afraid one or some apps waste your most of power
you should check it one by one yourself
once time, I got a theme of go launcher from market
but I found power droped 20%-30% per hour(just unused)
when I uninstalled it , it came back to normal
I've got a question about strange battery behavior.
This is my battery use graphic

There is no mistake, charge level raises when my NT's screen is switched off, is it a normal behavior for NT, or just an app glitch?
Can it be somehow connected with that after I plugged my NT into PC via generic microUSB cable charge level jumped from ~80% to 100% in a minute?

Most batteries will recover a portion of their apparent charge if given the opportunity to relax. {Electrons are able to move from deeper within the battery media and gather near the surface.} (There may be an algorithm issue as well, not sure.)

Thanks for the answer, but it still seems strange, I am used to self-discharging batteries, not to the opposite. Also I didn't see something like this happening with Nook Color or mobile phones.

I did have the same with Nook Color, but I still have no idea why it happens and what the consequences are.
I would try to see which app is keeping the tablet "awake" when the screen is off.
(I know you don't have CM7 installed, but if you ever do...there is a utility in CM7 spare parts in battery history that lists apps by Partial awake usage that I check to see whats keeping it awake.)

Large battery drop overnight?

I've noticed what appears to be excessive battery drain while left on overnight. My phone went from 97% to 70% This phone should not be using this much battery while in standby mode. Display consumed 37% of that 28% even though it was off all night. Anyone have any ideas on what this could be.

I usually lose around 2% overnight and I always have wifi on..Download cpu spy from the market and make sure its going into deep sleep..
Also try betterbattery stats app and see if you have a rogue app causing a wake lock or something.
its not going into deep sleep, as is evident by it showing it being awake with the screen off. do you charge via USB or car charger? there is a big that prevented it from going into deep sleep. if you use a wall charger the issue is not there.
I did download CPUstats already and the phone is not deep sleeping correctly. I will try the second app you mentioned and see what's causing the wakes. Thanks.

I have the same response as MR.DSL
I have noticed, since I did a deep cycle of the battery, it has started to maintain better % overall.
Biggest drain is driving with music from over the air, and navigation running.
Hence, I use battery backup for driving.
Love this phone. They just keep getting beter each year.
I have the same problem although i have the problem only when flashing tpc's Rom. And i don't have my gmail account logged in so therefore i shouldn't have any background apps keeping it from deep. Although when flashing back to stock.. I have no problems.
Just got my note yesterday and notice there is a similar problem this morning. With wifi on but sync off. The battery dropped about 15% in 6-7 hours without any usage.
Then I remember when I was using other android phones (streak 5, desire z) when I use GOOGLE Latitude it drains my battery almost continuously. Just log out the Latitude to see if it gets any better.
it is the deep sleep... before I started rebooting my phone every morning after it was charged to 100%, my note could last merely 13hrs.... since I started rebooting every morning, it lasted more than 18hrs and still had ~30% of battery.... and battery watch shows I usually have 50+% screen on time and wifi always on
So after resetting my phone and reverting to stock kernel. My phone dropped only 3% over 7 hours. It was in deep sleep 97% of that time. I'm hoping it continues to behave this way.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA App
how does one find out if the gnote is going into deep sleep mode or not, using the "cpu spy" app? does it tell you right off the bat or you need to correlate it with something in order to determine if it is or not? i'm having the same issues with my battery life dropping significantly over night. i tried restarting my phone this morning after i disconnected it off the wall charger. i'm at work right now and the battery life is still dropping fairly quickly, after i had already killed all the apps before turning off the screen...
edit: i'm running on stock kernel and have not rooted yet..
is your phone rooted or not if so what kernel are you running?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using XDA App
So is this issue only present in rooted devices? If so i think ill just flash the stock back on and wait for ics.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
That's what I'm trying to figure out. If anyone is having this issue while running a rooted kernel, try flashing stock kernel to see if it changes anything. Either way please report results.

[Q] Galaxy S3 - Loses Power While Charging!?

Hi guys,
I have had my S3 for 2 years now and noticed this problem for the first time around 5 weeks or so ago. Basically i noticed that it would not charge much after a long period of time charging, and also when using the device the battery would deplete a lot more quickly than what I am used to.
On investigation it appears that I am losing power while charging. I downloaded the application 'galaxy charging' which lets me know how many mA are being drawn etc.
Via mains the reference is always 1098 or around 1amp as it should be and via USB it is 466mA. This app monitors the average current being drawn while the device is charging and i notice that EVERY time i charge via either mains or USB the device NEVER charges at its max capacity (1098mA via mains and 466 via USB)
What i see which happens is as soon as i plug in my charger to mains it will start off close to maximum, around 800mA and then after 10 seconds or so it will slowly come down to say 600mA, a further 20 seconds or sooner we are down to 300mA and eventually it will either settle around this figure if i am lucky so i actually charge my phone (all be it very slowly) but much more likely it will always drop off to 100mA. At this power the phone drains more battery being on than power being given to it to charge so the battery goes down while charging.
Does anyone know what could be causing this?
Troubleshooting attempted:
I have replaced the battery with a new one. I still get the same problem
I have replaced the USB lead, i *might* get a slightly higher stable mA on average on one but maybe this is probably just coincidental
I have tested via mains and USB, the error occurs on both, I have tested mains where nothing else uses the socket and USB on a PC where the only USB port being used is the phone.
I have changed my ROM, I am now using ArchiDroid. I thought doing a complete reset and putting on a new OS might fix this but apparently not.
Right now I am out of ideas and am left thinking this is some internal hardware error, but can anyone else offer any suggestions or has this happened to anyone else?
Appreciate any responses,
James
You could try a custom kernel which allows you to override the charging current, but you may find the charging circuit inside the phone is damaged.
Easy solution if so is to get a desktop charger and second battery.

if that also dosent help than you can try googy max kernel or boeffella kernel and check for "ignore unstable power option"

Hi everyone, thanks for all your replies. However it was this one that fixed my issue. Since i already had the boeffla kernal on my phone i found the setting to 'ignore unstable power' and since having that checked i now charge at a constant 460mA via USB and 1098mA via mains. Thank you so much!!

Battery Drain on Device

Hey everyone, i've been using the G-watch for 2 days now on my htc one m8, running ARHD 21 (4.4.4) but the thing is that i can barely get 7 hours out of the phone if the watch is connected to BT, if i disconnect it i get 14 to 15 hours easy, is some one else having these issues? could an android wear app be causing these issues?
Thank you
Have you updated it? What apps are you running?
I have no issues. Running ARHD 11.1

I also wanted to see if anyone out there has any suggestions to minimize the battery impact on the connected phone. I have a LG G3 phone and I could leave it overnight and only loose about 1%/hr battery (this on wi-fi, but with bluetooth and NFC turned on). Now that I have an LG G watch paired with the phone, it looses about 4%/hr overnight. It's not the end of the world because the G3 battery is pretty large, but clearly there is a huge difference in battery performance.
Has anyone created a tasker profile that might limit disconnect the phone while the watch is charging or anything else like that that might help?
Thanks!
I just received mine yesterday and experienced the same thing last night. Turned Bluetooth off just to make sure it is a phone thing and not a g watch thing

I use Greenify. Anything special that you are doing?
Obviously the Wear App must keep the phone awake a lot more when there is a Wear device connected. As mentioned, my phone's battery usage with a wear device connected is many times worse than when there is no device connected. Specifically, I'd love to be able to disconnect the watch from the phone when the watch is charging (on the charging cradle). It obviously is not on my wrist and so there is no benefit to having it connected to the phone when it is charging (I usually charge it overnight). I could likely go 2 days with my G3 if the wear device didn't force the phone to use approx 4% battery each hour. Overnight that is 25-30% battery loss when I use to only get about a 4% total battery loss overnight prior to having a Wear device connected.
Hi,
I have the same query.
I got my G Watch a couple of days ago, and the watch itself will last the day no problem, but it is definitely having an impact on my phone (M7 running ViperROM). I don't think the phone battery is going down as a direct result of the bluetooth connection with the watch, but rather that I have wifi and/or mobile data on the whole time to make the watch function properly. Usually I use the power saving option on the phone to shut down data connection when it goes to sleep, but that makes the watch pretty useless. So I'm going from a phone that could easily do 30-36 hours on a charge before I had the watch (primarily because data would turn off when I wasn't using it), to a phone that is lasting 15/16 hours with the watch connected and data on all the time.
Is there a way to toggle wifi and mobile data directly from the watch? I know the wear mini launcher might do this for wifi, but what about mobile data?
Or is there a way using something like AutomateIT or tasker to turn on data as required? I know that apps like Lean Droid work fine on the phone for turning on data for a few minutes at whatever interval you want, and that is fine for making sure things like email notifications come through regularly. But.... what if my data is off on the phone and I want to do a voice search or send a text from the watch? Is there a way to turn on data without having to take the phone out (and in the process defeating the purpose of the convenience of the watch?)
Apologies if this is too long to read and maybe slightly off topic, but this was the closest thread I could fine related to the issue.

Initially, I had horrible battery drainage on my phone, but now things have improved significantly. Losing about 1% per hour. Removing apps that constantly communicate with the phone such as wear internet browser helped the most.
I
So is this a normal wake lock time? 18m in ten hours. Beyond that my battery just feels way less on my phone than normal. By hours less. And I haven't installed anything fancy yet beyond the app drawer I just put on. I didn't receive but maybe 30 notifications I think in this time frame.
