Why don't we have a developer discussion section? - Verizon LG G3

I was wondering why we don't have a developer discussion us soon section. There was one for the vzw galaxy s3 and it was good for developers. Thought it could be helpful for this phone.

I'm guessing phone is still new and fresh and developers are waiting for certain things in order to develop.

Well, there's the Verizon G3 Android Development section:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-lg-g3/development
and the Verizon G3 Original Android Development section:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-lg-g3/orig-development
...with a combined total of 5 threads. Do we need another section?

most developers use hangouts now, a thread just for developers isn't responsive enough

Quick question.

Hi. I'm new to EVO LTE and I kinda look for this answer but couldn't quite find it. Why is there 2 development for EVO LTE?
I have the original black EVO. Do I use the original EVO development? Or does it matter what I use? Thank you in advance.

Original development is for thing like root methods etc., development is for roms and mods based off of stock things.
"We're coming from a pure power source"
There's a sticky at the top of the original development forum that explains everything

It's not a dumb question, it's a dumb system. To have these two development sections separated is just plain dumb. A better division would be roms separate from rooting methods or such. But to distinguish between some roms as being original and some not seems to be very inconsistent. This separated development sections started with the Samsung threads and they can keep it. Give us HTC guys back our single development thread.

Its supposed to be a way to distinguish ROMS & other projects that have significant original work being done from those that are simply modified stock.

But most of the roms in the original development section are just heavily themed and nothing else. Nothing groundbreaking. If you go with the original intent of the separation of development threads than only CM10 would be in that thread,
There's plenty of original development done in those roms/ect

canonical announced the Ubuntu for phones yesterday for the nexus devices..........
so... will the developers port it to Xperia.......
This thread being a general discussion thread on the availability of Ubuntu for phones for Xperia...... lets start the discussion....... you've got anything to share about..... just go on.....
and lets keep hoping for it to get ported to our dear phones... Cheers

It cant be ported just like that, nor will the 2011 phones be able to run it. Its not android, its a brand new operating system.
Wrong thread..its development section not discussion
Lol...there is already 2 threads in general forum about the same topic.....search before posting anything....
Dev forum is not for discussions...

[Q] Why are there two development forums?

what is the difference between "Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4 Android Development" and "Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4 Original Android Development"?
Android development is TW ROMs and original is AOSP ROMs

TW development is for modding your stock touch wiz ROM basically.
AOSP stands for Android Open Source Project and that sub is for things related to modding custom ROMs.

TW = Touch Wiz. It's the skin that samsung puts on its phones. ROMs that are based off of it are in the "S 4 Android Development" forum
The AOSP ROMs are what google intended for its users to see. ROMs based off of it are in the "Original Development" forum.

ahh! got it. Thank you!
In other device sections the non original section is also used for ROMs that are kangs or tweaked versions of released original roms. Basically not just touchwiz

Original dev is for any software which incorporates significant original work. Non original dev is for software in which the author incorporates only minor changes.
I understand it but it drives me insane. hated the day they started that

NO!
The answer is in the stickies on top of both sections
Original means it was written by the developers and offers something unique.
Any AOSP clone or CM clone goes in regular development.
Only the original CM, AOSP, AOKP, PA, MIUI releases go in Original development
And OP:
Please read forum rules before posting
Questions and help issues go in Q&A and Help sections
Thread moved

Its still dumb. Its annoying enough trying to find a rom that works with the cryptic thread titles without having to look in two seperate forums IMO.

Why it was done was to reward developers and teams who spent weeks writing 1000's of lines of code to build a unique ROM or bring one to that particular device. It separates those particular ROMs and should provide a higher end of user and more professional environment for the developers. This is XDA-DEVELOPERS.com so we pool the developers' needs and requests and do the best to provide the environment they are looking for. Many are under the false assumption this is a support site.
Thanks I sort of lf get it out now. One is just to modbthe touch wiz while the other one is for like aokp cm and other roms right?

its not a support site, what kind of site is it? It has the makings of a support site, Downloads, FAQ, Q&A, Solutions to problems. Just a friendly inquiry.

Hello I am Jupiter!

Nexus devices come with the purest version of Android installed. It's pure "vanilla Android" as you called it. If you buy a Nexus 6P new it will have Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow installed. If you buy a 6P used make sure the device has a clean ESN and is not blacklisted by any carrier that you want to use the device with. Also, if you buy it used, no matter what software is installed you can fastboot flash the Google factory images and return it to a fully stock state like the way Google designed it. Don't be scared about not having pure Android on a Nexus. That's the reason you buy a Nexus. If your really interested in a 6P, head on over to the Nexus 6P forums here on XDA and browse through each section. You will find some excellent information about the device in the General Forum as well as the Q&A and development forums. There are some excellent developers working on the 6P and they have built some really great ROM's and kernels for this device. Good luck and it's nice to have you in the XDA forums.

Hello Jupiter, we already have a welcome thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=961655
Additionally, if you have any questions about the Nexus 6P, please use the Nexus 6P Q&A forum here.
