Nexus devices come with the purest version of Android installed. It's pure "vanilla Android" as you called it. If you buy a Nexus 6P new it will have Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow installed. If you buy a 6P used make sure the device has a clean ESN and is not blacklisted by any carrier that you want to use the device with. Also, if you buy it used, no matter what software is installed you can fastboot flash the Google factory images and return it to a fully stock state like the way Google designed it. Don't be scared about not having pure Android on a Nexus. That's the reason you buy a Nexus. If your really interested in a 6P, head on over to the Nexus 6P forums here on XDA and browse through each section. You will find some excellent information about the device in the General Forum as well as the Q&A and development forums. There are some excellent developers working on the 6P and they have built some really great ROM's and kernels for this device. Good luck and it's nice to have you in the XDA forums.

advice needed. building a forum app

Hey guys i hope someone can help me out. iv been a longtime user and hacker of android os but never got into the app side of things but now im looking to create an app for a website forum. its not my website or forum im just trying to help them out and said i would look into it. but having no previous coding experience etc i need your help if you can spare some wisdom.
The forum is a simple machines forum which iv been told is a pain since not all that compliant withmobile format.
Basicly i want an app similar to that of the xda one. on start up the company logo then once in the list of categories followed by threads. with an option for people to log in obviously. thats all i would need just now anyway. just something that would allow a better rendering of the forum on mobile.
Im sure there must be something that needs to be done from the forum owners side to enable mobile rendering but Any feedback would be great.
Thanks guys and girls

Tapatalk hosts many forums. I believe that you can contact Tapatalk or visit their website and get instructions on how to make the forum compatible with Tapatalk. While Tapatalk is a paid app, it's a lot easier than building an app.
And you can get Tapatalk for free on GetJar. Don't know how long the promotion will last, but if you get it up and running that would be something you could let the forum members know.

[Q] galaxy 3

I am a subgenre of phone power user- Not a fanboy or a total hater of anything in the mobile world, but up until now I have never been able to like the android experience, never hated on the system just never liked it, and have always loved both iOS and WP7 (proud owner of a 4S, HD7 and hoping to make a purchase of an iPad 3 soon) and found the Android OS too buggy, slow and glitchy for my liking, however from what I can see, the G3 actualy makes a smooth beautiful and fast experience out of the system, so finally I see temptation in purchasing the handset. I have heard many things about all the possibilities with the system that are closed in the smoother more beautiful systems of iOS and WP7, but for me the user experience is more important than being able to do all of these extra computing functions, although it seems to me that the Samsung have been able to provide the happy medium.
has anyone here tried the SG3? Any information of wether you would recomend it to me based on what I wrote in this post? thanks
Mate, there's an sgs3 forum.

Want to learn developing

Hi community,
my plans are to learn how to develop my own customROM and perhaps Kernel for my own device.
But I dont want to do this with my new mobilephone and my old ones (LG o2x, HTC HD2) are giveaways for my mum and girlfriend so there isn't a mobilephone left to do this.
Now I've considered to buy a cheap and used Android mobilephone at ebay but there are so many different devices.
My question is if there is a device with which it is easy to learn developing and which pardons mistakes.
Sorry for my bad english and thanks for your response
best regards
ev!denz
I would go with a Nexus S (GSM version)
Very simple to use, pure Google and I would assume it's relatively cheap now. Also has ICS and JB

[Q] first time caller long time listener... so to speak

Hello
Wanted to introduce myself to the S4 community and say that I have gotten so much out of this site, and by happy accident even found this.
Back in 2010 I had a droid X that I rooted, only for the sake of over-clocking. I have been building PC's and hackintosh's for years and thought overclock was the only reason to root...
fast forward to years, and I ended up selling my galaxy s3 for cash plus a Galaxy Nexus.I had to switch to the iPhone for work, but like having a backup phone. The first time I powered on the Nexus I saw a lock that was Unlocked on the bottom. well, like the Most of you. The rest is history!
I became a root a holic, and tried everything from A o sp, to sorcery, too paranoid, Exedra Exedra Exedra.
because of work I am forced to use an iPhone, but I saw a deal on Craigslist for our galaxy s4 and couldn't pass it up.
As of now I am running hyperdrive with the WalletPatch, and LMT pie controls.
I look forward to getting my 10 posts in so I can begin to help the rest of the community in any way possible.
I love this forum, and the proof is on the home screen as I have an XDA chrome shortcut right there.
my first, and only, question in this post is; is it worth buyingvthe app?
Buying which app? The XDA app? If you frequent multiple forums then I would just buy Tapatalk. Or you could buy both just to support XDA.
I don't see myself posting anywhere but here. I used to be a forum whore, but I quickly got sick of debating 16 year olds as to why I shouldn't buy this turbo for my evolution X. Still have my Evo, but don't partake In anymore witless banter.
with that being said, will the xda app provide better usability in terms of interacting with the forum, and its content.
I'm sure this forum has the same three basic rules that any other forum has, if you Don't want to be a perpetual newb, those three being; search, search, and search

The XDA app doesn't like it when your on WiFi. You get errors all over the place. It does however work great on 4G/3G. I have the app for my phone and the HD one for my tablet. I also have tapatalk.
I'd say buy the app. You get a really nice forum experience with better navigation and no need to zoom in on the page. I never have a problem with the app on WiFi. There's also a free version if you don't want to buy pro. Pro, it would seem, is mostly out there to support the site, as there aren't a ton of feature advantages.
Thanks, I ended up buying tapatalk, and downloading xda from play

Good choice. The xda app is the same as tapatalk. Tapatalk has a bunch of forums and xda is only one. Tapatalk for the win.

[Request] Oppo Color OS for Nexus 6 please.

I've found developers port it to 1+1 and it is an awesome rom. So I do wish Nexus 6 developers might also make a Color OS rom for Nexus 6.

this is a development forum that you posted in. nothing but actual android development gets posted here. you obviously are not developing anything. normally, you would post something like this in the q&a threads. so, ill ask a mod to move it there.

You have already posted this question and a fellow moderator moved your thread into the Q&A forum.
This is an international site, not everyone is online the same time as you. So wait for an answer.
If you don't receive any answers then this means that noone is interested for your request.
