[Q] Samsung S3 mini i8200L - Hard Bricked - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
Need some help. My Samsung S3 mini i2800L was flashed with the wrong firmware in an attempt to upgrade to Jellybean 4.2.2 using odin and it failed . It remained in download mode and I did a battery pull ,now the phone is absolutely dead. Black Screen for all the following:Recovery Mode and Download Mode .The phone wont power on at all. The only sign of life , is when I plugged into my girl friend's Toshiba laptop via usb cable and it searched and installed the drivers. In addition Windows makes a sound when the device is plugged in and unplugged, but is not being recognized by Kies or Odin. I also tried a USB JIG with no success.
Is there any debrick file that I can use for to place on my SD card and attempt to boot from SD, or is JTAG the only option left?

yes!!! you can UNBrick it!!!
OK ... good news for you is it can still be read by the comp when connected (prompts by audio signal) ... it wont take more than 2 min to unbrick your phone... tell me have if you have a stock ROM available for your device?

file as an administrator (Right click on the .exe file and click on Run as
administrator)

cable

device has been detected by Odin3.

checked.

with extension .tar.md5

ICS 4.0.4 Update

Try this step by step and it should work!
Requirements
A Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-I9100
A Windows PC
Your phone’s USB cable
7-Zip, WinRAR, or any other programs that can extract archive files
Handset USB drivers installed on the PC. You may install the drivers by installing Samsung Kies.
Enable USB Debugging on your handset.
Disable antivirus, firewall, and other security software. Also disable Samsung Kies and other software that accesses
your phone. Such software can interfere with the procedure in this guide.
Download the following files to your computer:
Android 4.0.4 ICS firmware build XXLQ5 (I9100XXLQ5_I9100OXALQ5_OXA.zip, 387.1 MB)
copy and paste
hotfile.com/dl/162208594/226b6f0/I9100XXLQ5_I9100OXALQ5_OXA.zip.html
Odin3 1.85 (Odin 1.85.zip,199 kB)
Make sure your phone’s battery is charged up to 75% or more to avoid interruptions during the process.
Backup all personal data on your phone to make sure you have a copy of your personal data (e.g., contacts, SMS, MMS,
Internet settings, Wi-Fi passwords, and the like) in case the procedure in this guide erases such data.
For backup tips, check our guides on how to sync your data to the cloud and how to create local backups of your
mobile data.
Instructions
Extract the contents of the I9100XXLQ5_I9100OXALQ5_OXA.zip file to get these files:
I9100_CODE_I9100XXLQ5_CL753921_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5
GT-I9100-MULTI-CSC-OXALQ5.tar.md5
MODEM_I9100XXLQ5_REV_02_CL1165929.tar.md5
u1_02_20120326_emmc_EXT4_8GB.pit
Extract the contents of the Odin 1.85.zip file to obtain the Odin3 v1.85.exe file.
Double-click on the Odin3 v1.85.exe file to launch Odin on your computer.
Unplug your phone from the computer if it is connected. After unplugging, turn your phone off.
Put your phone into Download Mode. To do this, hold the Volume Down, Home, and Power buttons together until the
screen turns on. Press the Volume Up key to put your phone into Download Mode.
Connect your phone to the PC using the USB cable. In Odin, a message saying “Added!!” will appear on the bottom left
of the window.
In the Odin window, click on the PDA button and select the
I9100_CODE_I9100XXLQ5_CL753921_REV02_user_low_ship.tar.md5file. The file should show on the space beside the PDA
button.
Click on the PHONE button and select MODEM_I9100XXLQ5_REV_02_CL1165929.tar.md5 file. The file should show on the
space beside the Phone button.
Click on the CSC button and select the GT-I9100-MULTI-CSC-OXALQ5.tar.md5file. The file should show on the space
beside the CSC button.
Don’t alter anything else in Odin. Leave everything else as is, except for adding the files mentioned in steps 7 to
9.
Click on the Start button in Odin to start flashing the firmware to your phone.
After the flashing completes, your phone will automatically reboot. You should be able to get a “PASS” message on
the top left part of Odin.
NOTE: If you get a FAIL message or Odin gets stuck, disconnect your phone from the PC and close Odin. Remove the
battery from your phone, re-insert it, and place your phone into Download Mode again. Open Odin and do the procedure
starting from step 6.
Once you see the Samsung logo on your phone’s screen, you can safely disconnect your phone from the PC.
Hope this helps!

[Q] My phone has been bricked! :`(

Hello!
I think my MMX Canvas HD A116 has been soft bricked. :crying:
I'd installed DOGE http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2663763 ROM, and it was working fine. After that I tried to get backup using Nandroid Manager but it was failed. So, I restarted phone in CWM Recovery mode and tried to backup data from there.
But after that, my phone went dead.
Screen starts for few seconds but it is not showing boot logo and even I'm not able to go into recovery mode also!
My PC or SP Flash Tool is also not recognizing phone.
Will USB Jig work for MMX phones? Is there any hope?!
Please help!

But as I said in earlier post, my phone is not going into recovery mode. As I press "Volume +" button, it goes off. I wish somehow I can at least boot my phone into recovery mode!
Have anyone tried USB jig for Micromax phones?

First disable driver signing (Windows 8 users Only)
use this link for tutorial.....

Now extract the mtk universal driver attachment.
1. Open device manager
2. Connect your phone to PC through data cable.
3. New device will appear in device manager for 5-10 seconds only.
4. Quickly right click on newly appeared device and selected update driver.
5. Select drivers from downloaded and extracted attachment.(right click on new appeared device -> browse my computer for drivers-> browse windows 7 drivers i.e. usb2ser_Win764 in extracted folder)
6. It will successfully install driver.
7. Remove data cable from phone and again insert it in phone.
8. SP tools will recognize it and automatically start flashing since you have already pressed download button earlier.

It had to me once, when I was going to flash the stock rom from SP Flash tools. I think there was some drivers problem, and the process stopped in between, and when i tried to turn the phone on, it only emitted some light and would stay that until the battery would drain. After a few days, it went dead, no response. This was the time I realized that I had to give it to a service center. Unfortunately, the service was awfully bad, and my phone came repaired back after 3 MONTHS! So, I recommend, that you hand it over to a non-micromax service center (as your warranty is now void), and try your luck! All the best!
P.S. My CHD is working awesome now, installed MiUi

Thank you Shivraj for replying.
But as I said in earlier post, my phone is not going into recovery mode. As I press "Volume +" button, it goes off. I wish somehow I can at least boot my phone into recovery mode!
Have anyone tried USB jig for Micromax phones?

Lenovo P780 - Won't boot

Hi All,
Have seen the numerous posts on this forum for the Lenovo P780, but cannot for the life of me get mine to work again
Model: P780 4GB (believe it is the Chinese version as when I first started it, Android was in Chinese (hence me trying to replace the ROM).
Here are the symptoms:
Black screen, won't power on, cannot even get into factory reset mode.
Tried the reset button on the back of the phone (some say 3-5 seconds others say 20 seconds - Tried both, nothing!).
Tried to fix the problem by doing the following:
Download the SP Flash Tools version 5.1352.01 and ran them on my Windows 7 Machine as Administrator.
Loaded the P780_ROW_S226_4GB_KIT_KAT (as this is what I thought would do the trick.)
Selected the MT6589_Android_scatter_emmc.txt file and then Firmware Upgrade set, then hit download, connected the phone to the laptop (red light on the phone), SP Flash Tool then goes to 100% Download DA (in red), and then the message "Unrecognized ROM detected".
That's it nothing else. Can't power on the phone.
Any advice help would be appreciated before I throw this phone through a window!!!
Thanks,
Mak.

Hi Stympy,
I have managed to get an Android ROM installed on the P780. Details are:
Android version 4.2.1
Build: P780_S136_140306
The only problem now is that the rear camera does not work, and have been told that trying to install a non-standard ROM could have blown the rear camera.
As I am not experienced with flashing these (or any other types of smartphones), I have no idea if this is correct.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Fixing Bootloop or a Bricked Micromax A311

Now, i have seen countless cases of people being not able to flash their MMX A311, as for me I was having the same problem too, turns out that the driver is the main problem.
I was trying out YGDP but i was stuck at "Enabling Download Mode"
and while trying out SP tools i was getting an error "s_brom_cmd_jump_da_fail (0x7f3) " .
Then again, I tried many things, and got my phone working in 10 minutes. :good:
So if u too are stuck, then try my method.
It is highly recommended you do this in Windows 7.
I did everything while my phone was switched off but battery was inserted.
Disconnect your PC from internet just to be double careful about the flashing.
First getting the proper driver:
Now, before installing the driver, make sure that you dont have any other driver installed rather than the one which i will provide, if you think you might have installed some other driver then try removing it by "usdreview" (but it didn't work for me though that's why PLEASE TRY THIS ON ANOTHER COMPUTER OR LAPTOP, MAYBE IF YOU HAVE ANOTHER LAPTOP OR COMPUTER OR MAYBE TRY IT ON YOUR FRIEND'S SYSTEM. THIS SOLVED THE "ENABLING DOWNLOAD MODE" PROBLEM FOR ME)
Download this driver, I did with this one:
Remove the (dot) and put " . " in the link. .
www(dot)mediafire(dot)com/file/8v32j8h5doflzi0/Mediatek+MT65xx+Preloader+Driver(dot)rar
Click to collapse
Extract it and remember where the folder has been extracted to, as it will be needed to install the driver.
Installing the driver:
Open up Device Manager.
right click on My Computer > Manage > on the side pane click on "Device Manager"
Keep it open.
Now first CHOOSE A SINGLE USB PORT WHICH WILL BE USED BY YOU THROUGHOUT THIS WHOLE PROCESS. DON'T CHANGE IT!
Now use your usb data cable and insert it into your chosen USB port and then to your phone.
As you will insert it you will see a device popup in 'Other Devices' or some other tab named as "MTK65xx Preloader" or something similar like that.
NOW BE QUICK IT DISAPPEARS IN 3-4 SECONDS !!
Quickly right click on mtk65xx preloader and select "Update Driver Software"
Now as in the new window opened up, select " Browse my own computer to install the driver"
Browse to the DOWNLOADED DRIVER'S folder, select the folder "Win7" for Windows 7 and Above.
Now the driver will be installed.
Now after being installed, take out your phone from the usb cable, dont remove the usb cable from the computer because you make mistake while again inserting it back into to a different port.
Getting the stock rom and YGDP tool:
Now get the stock rom for A311 and YGDP tool from any verified site.
I downloaded mine from :
Remove the (dot) and put " . " in the link.
www(dot)needrom(dot)com/download/micromax-a311
Click to collapse
Download from this site needs user to be logged in, it barely took 2 mins for me to register and download it.
If you have any other site you trust then go on and download it from there, but I recommmend you to follow my steps and sites as I did everything and succeeded.
Download the ROM and also the YGDP tool.
Extract the downloaded file to some specific folder as this is the ROM and the tool required.
Installing and Using the YGDP tool:
I have seen people recommending latest YGDP tool but on the contrary I recommend the downloaded old version from the previous step, it worked for me like a charm!!
Install the YGDP tool from the extracted folder.
After installation, YGDP desktop icon will appear, open it.
put the password as: 369
Now, on the top pane, press the button "Config"
In the window opened, on the side pane, carefully select "8297W" for A311
And after selecting that, on the left side section,
in the " Please select CPB file : " , click on the button beside it and browse for your extracted folder of ROM and select it !
now it click " Apply " button .
It will take 1-2 minutes, and after this you will be brought back to the main window!
Now click on " Start "
And wait till in the bottom message log it says " ENABLING DOWNLOAD MODE" , now follow the next step !!
Flashing your phone:
As YGDP stays in enabling download mode, now insert your phone back to the usb cable which was left out in the computer.
Now, if you did everything correctly, YOUR PHONE WILL BE DETECTED and YGDP will start flashing by itself, wait till it says 100% with a green bar.
Remove your phone from the USB cable and then click "STOP" in the main window of the YGDP tool.
Power on your phone.
Your phone will be successfully be flashed and alive !!! :fingers-crossed:
FROM NOW ON, ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP . :silly:
Feel free to ask questions.
If u have suggestions, I'm open for it!!
While I am connecting to the computer it does not recognise it and continuously connecting and disconnecting the USB drive and I have tried different ways like why GDP tool and SP Flash tool when I tried with why GDP tool it struck at the entering download mode and when I tried with SP Flash tool it recognise the device but ends with an error message finally the problem is my computer is not detecting the device properly and I have install the drivers manually also but of no use now I am not able to go for go to the recovery mode my phones is continuously rebooting please help me thanks in advance
as you said i have done all the things, and its turned out as green bar. everything is ok, but while power on my device it will only shows the micromax logo it wont go further... kindly suggest me about what to do next...
