Google Now Launcher and official Amazon apps now available for G3! - Sprint LG G3

Just an FYI, the official apps are now compatible with our device from Play Store.
Edit:
Oops, probably should have posted this in themes and apps. Mods, feel free to move.

Which is better? LG's launcher or Google Now? What features do we gain / lose from making the switch?

Well the obvious things are you loose smart card and lg health by switching to google now as well as the lg home weather widget.

The Official Amzon AppStore deal of the day

As we all know Amazon has a App of the day going on. This is the official thread for us to post, talk about, and broadcast these applications. How ever it can get extremely sticky. They are only free for 24hrs and since it is Amazon's choice to eat the cost for these please do not post links to any .apks, including sites to where the .apks can be found. you may only post links to the Amazon site and/or the Google Market site. I did talk to the local mod before posting this and according to them posting links to the .apks or source of .apk will be treated as warez and punished accordingly.
Mod edit: Any links anywhere outside of the OP will be removed, and if they are links to the apks or other sites hosting the apks they will be treated as warez.
as of 4/28/11 i will not longer updating this daily.
im loving the Amazon app store, so far ive gotten 3 paid apps for free. first it was world series of poker 4.99, doodle jump .99, and shazam 4.99.

Yea its awesome, can't wait to see what the future days will bring us, what a way to start it off
Anyone else have the app store working great, update the app and now it keeps asking for me to associate a credit card with my 1-click settings? Why do I need to keep my card on their servers for some hacker to compromise just to buy a free app?

The reason they do that is so if you want to buy an application it the price will be applied directly to the card on file.
glad someone started this...i think i suggested this after the third or fourth day due to the inflood of free app threads (didnt start it myself because i do not have the time to maintain it)
On another note...this is the first thing i do every morning..check the free app

I just wanted to start it so we could have a common place to talk about the Deal of the Day. I know they'll be a massive flood of people talking about stuff. I'm going to be whoring the apps. The games i'm letting slide under the radar.
You can select install on the app of the day, let it authenticate and download, then choose not to install and it's considered purchased. Just so everyone knows. That way you can get all of the apps they offer even if they don't sound appealing or useful atm. Never know, once the day is up you'll not have that chance again...
Is there any way to receive an automatic notification of what the free app is each day? I know one of these days I'm going to forget to check...

The only way possible would be for you to subscribe to this thread, and when i update it should notify you.
But keep in mind i'm only doing apps, not games.

you could set a daily alarm for a time that is convenient for you with a note saying "check amazon for free app"
Its Angry Birds Rio again .. Hmmm but yeah I did download quite a few paid apps for free and I am enjoying this...

Looks like they stopped giving out free apps.
Also if you delete the Amazon App Store from your phone you will not be able to open any of the Apps you downloaded through it.

Nevermind I was wrong. I looked last night at a time when they should have had another free app up and the space was completely blank. I searched online and found a thread on another site that said they were stopping the free app a day giveaway. However I just looked and they have a new one up.
what if you download the app of the day and save it to sd card and uninstall the amazon app store...will the app/game still play after cause its now on ur sdcard...
So is this not being updated or what?
BTW, Today's free app is PhotoVault.

Anyone is allowed to add to the list.... just make sure links go back to Amazon or the Android Web Market.

[REF] Bloatware safe to freeze list

When I had my previous phone, there was a list floating around that had all the bloatware from the stock ROM that were safe to freeze/remove. I did not see a list for our phones so I thought I would put together one. Below is what I have frozen safely with Titanium Backup. Please feel free to add to the list as I am sure there are more apps that are safe to freeze/remove and I will include it below. These are just what I have frozen on mine and have not had any problems or force closes.
Please note: you would need to be rooted in order to freeze some of these system apps.

Yes it is safe. I'm on stock with my bootloader unlocked and I uninstalled the apps I didn't want. Some att and kindle apps were in a separate folder but I managed to uninstall them as well.

I bricked mine ("security error") by freezing Google Play Movies. There's another forum where others are saying that Google Play Books might also be dangerous to freeze.

I think there's some variance depending on which version of Jelly Bean you're using. Supposedly 4.1.2 v20j may allow for more freezing. I think I was using v10x when I ran into the "security error." As I've mentioned, others have reported running into this same security error problem by removing Play Movies and Books. I still wouldn't label this list as "safe." At least some people are running into problems.

I think people that are having issues might just have a rooted phone only. To avoid the security issue they still need to unlock the bootloader.
I could be wrong tho, but it seems likely.

Something like Ninite?

Does anybody know of an app that can do the same as Ninite or maybe a dev would like to make one? I can't find any on the Play Store and I do know that a lot of people would love to have a app for installing Android apps fast.

Something that's similar to Ninite that you flash in recovery is the Flashaholics Essential Packs http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1767379. It uses AROMA installer to allow you to select from a bunch of common Android apps such as Google Apps and common utilities.

(Q) What the hell is happening to the Play Store?

Why is Google allowing these applications into the play store?
On the Top New Apps section I've already found:
R**tube (Pornography)
Grooveshark (Removed from the play store already a long time ago as far as I know?)
Blackmart (Free paid apps)
Aptoide (Alternative market/free paid apps)
Facebook Hacker
YouTube Downloader (against YT TOS)

I imagine they'll get removed eventually, but would get removed sooner if people reported them. Shame you can't report apps from your browser - you have to use the app. I did report the bricking app though. That's just plain dumb, and unfortunately some people need protecting from themselves!
I see no point why we can't report apps like that from our browser. It's obviously malicious.

Obviously to destroy someone else's phone.
Well we can't do much and neither can Google as there are tons of new apps coming every day and many such malicious apps are bound to get past restrictions and be available for download.
