[Q] Is Infrared device workingon CM11 ? - Xperia Z2 Tablet Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
does anyone knows if the Z2 Tablet IR emitter is working or how to make it work?
Currently I wasn't able to find any IR App which is working on CM11.
Also I couldn't see any IR device in /dev...
I always thought IR is (quite) easy on linux and CM seems to support IR at all, so whats wrong?
Best,
mm

It works Today I used the "Remote Control" app which comes stock. It was able to control my Hitachi HDTV and even my WD TV Live streaming media player. It has to be pointed at the devices of course, but it works. (My model # is SGP561)
I don't know if any other apps can use it though. Haven't really playeed around with it much.

Hmmm are you sure? My question was about IR on Cyanogenmod 11. I guess you are on stock ROM, right?
On stock ROM the Sony App is unbeatable in fact, but unfortunately it does not work on any customrom.

Oh, I see. I think I missed that. So are you missing the APK file, or are you missing the folder?
If it's the APK file: is there any way to extract a stock rom as an APK file? If so, I wouldn't mind extracting a copy for you so you can see if it works, but I only know how to extract APK files from the Play Store.
Otherwise, what if you tried just copying the missing folder over from a stock ROM?
Or maybe it's something that was lost with the DRM keys?

Oh, it's not the problem of an missing apk. I've backups of them, of course, but they would not work on custom roms. Since I like the freedom of CM more than the functionally of the stock Z2 Rom I use CM on all of my devices. But I'm always in hope that someone has a hint or even a solution on this issue of the Z2 tablet Android and CM has an IR API so it's a missing driver and Sony just released the kernel sources of the Zz2 so there is hope that someone has an idea...

Yeah, the only reason I'm not going for a custom rom is because the loss of DRM keys result in the loss of core functionality. I really hope that someone manages to figure out how to take all of those official apps and put them into a custom firmware where the DRM keys don't matter anymore.

Any updates on this? I have the exact same issue, a Z2 tablet with CM11 and I can't find any apps to work with the IR

Well, the z2 is quite old right now. I don't even think about it, sorry. Take an recent Sony ROM, root it and bebhappy with what you have... Beleive me, after some years being very disappointed with a WinCE phone from Sony I bought the Z2. It is quite good but next time I'll buy a Nexus.

You don't need allshare app, in JB you can share with PC or TV within the gallery, music, or video stock apps, you just have to enable DLNA in settings.
try this..................

Broken link for allshare.apk
Hi guys,
Can somebody help me by providing a live link to actuall Allshare version which runs on the JB for my i9070?
All link I had found are unfortunatelly broken.
Thanks in advance.
These are the APKs from stock.. Move them to system\app using root explorer and set the permissions.
Then after that, when you'll play a music or video, the option to play on devices will appear.

Nope, unfortunately it won't work in any of the CM Versions or any other ROMs based on it. It requires Samsung's Touchwiz framework to work, and is only compatible with Samsung's Gallery and Media Players. So, it'll only work on Stock ROMs or other ROMs based on Stock.
However, if you want to play your music or videos to a DLNA Enabled Television or any other device, you can install an app called iMediaShare Personal from the Play Store, it's free and totally awesome.

DLNA has nothing to do with Wi-Fi Direct. You just need to have all the DLNA Enabled devices connected to the same router. DLNA is a software enhancement and any DLNA app like iMediaShare personal can turn your device into a DLNA Enabled device, even old devices running on Gingerbread. It's funny XDA censors out a part of your name.

Your signature tells me that you are using the Maclaw's build. He has mentioned in that build's post on his website that Wi-Fi Direct is working. Is it not? Sorry I haven't tested it yet so I have no idea whether it's working or not.

[Q] Playstation app and remote play, no drm keys

Ok so as im sure everybody knows, the playstation app and remote play don't work without drm keys.
I installed CM12 yesterday, purely on the grounds that someone said they had remote play working on z3 with no drm keys on CM12, i wasn't holding out much hope but it actually worked, i lost my drm keys way back in april, and currently on CM12 my playstation app works pefectly and remote play kind of works (audio's iffy and keeps disconnecting). While this is great, im not too keen on the CM12 rom overall.
Now im wondering if it's possible to grab the related files from CM12 and install them on a stock rom???
Im not a dev or anything so i dont know if it's possible or even what files we'd need, however while manually installing the remote play port i noticed in system/framework there is a com.google.widevine.software.drm.jar and it also has an xml in (i think) etc/permissions. Seeing how widevine is something to do with drm keys and i've nevere noticed anything named widevine in any folders on my z2 prior to flashing CM12 im wondering if this is what's making remote play and playstation app work, and if/how i can get it onto a stock rom?
Any idea's??? Also im assuming there would be more files needed that just the .jar and .xml, but i have no idea what

Recent ROM with audio_submix (able to cast audio)

Hi,
I've been using my YP-G70 with Meticulus's Carbon ROM (awesome!) and thought I would be able to use a couple of Chromecast Audios to set up a sound system in my house, however I can't seem to find a ROM that enables audio casting (according to the MirrorEnable App, none of these include a fila named audio_submix). Is there any ROM out there that you may know of, capable of doing this?
Thanks!

There is no ROM for the YP-G70 capable of doing this, however, I don't think it would be difficult to modify a ROM to include audio_submix.

Android 5.1

Hello,
has anyone the android 5.1 rom like this Erisin has it?
http://www.erisinwholesale.com/spec...015v-8-android-51-car-dvd-gps-player-466.html
And will it be compatible with my KLD: http://www.autopumpkin.com/pumpkin-...link-obd2-wifi-3g-steering-wheel-control.html
I saw already that with the last kgl rom on the Huifei file mirror my buttons not work.
Thank you
This looks like the standard Hueifei setup. It seems that they are using exactly the same Bluetooth phone app and the same radio app. And the optics look almost exactly the same. I was looking forward to Android 5, now less so.

You can find soms video's of Android 5.1 running on a VW device. Just google joying Android 5.1 and you find 2 video's on YouTube. And yes the launcher looks the same as the one used in android 4.4. All the rest is lollipop, settings etc.
So if you dont like the looks just change your launcher
It would be awesome if it has usb Mic support enabled for people like me that don't want to do the mod to fix the ****ty mic.

i wrote the differences between full Android and Android TV in the first post. under Note section.
On Nvidia forum, there are many, many posts about HDD and SD cards memory problems on 6.0.
Did you have sorted some Nvidia bugs,or you have just add your work on the top of their sw?
Beside of SD cards which can be used like internal memory,i dont see any point of Nvida 6.0.
Do you see some Nvidia improvements: like picture quality, speed, or something else which is crucial but was not in stock 5.1?
Does your Restyle version have something from Vulcan?
Thwnk you for your reply, Will this ROM have the castng hack as I have read marshmallow is stopping some app from casting ?
I wonder if this firmware support 4K resolution in Netflix and Youtube? As I understand, the full android firmware v2.2 don't support 4K resolution in Netflix and Youtube. Moreover, the wireless mode of the controller works? Because you mentioned the multi touch don't work in your note section in the first post.

I think that full Android 5.1 is the best firmware for SATV and the best firmware in the world with no exception. I have many many Android devices for my work, i'm sure on this.
But if you need a better stock firmware where you can download all apps directly from Google Play StockRestyle is for you.

Maybe i'm not clear, this is the stock firmware + stuff, you can do everything the stock can do + stuff.
If you have a 4k TV and a Netflix 4k account enabled, also on full Android 5.1 you can have 4k with the Netflix Android TV app. In general 4k h265 videos are working very very well with full Android 5.1
Thanks for posting this @zulu99!

Alternatives my friend, just alternatives, because i think that the user must be able to choose and not be a monkey in the hands of big companies.
I like when users are the real owner of their devices, and i hate when companies force users in a direction or in another at expense of all others companies and developers.
The Root is the first thing to be the real owner of your device, because i don't think you can be sure when another person have the keys of your house.
It's just a metaphor, but in the digital world, the users without root can be forced in the directions that big companies want.
