Phone sluggish with watch connected? - LG G Watch

Does anyone notice that their phone's performance drops when they have their watch connected? As I'm typing this even I notice a slight lag on the keyboard.
I have the Nexus 5 and never had performance issues before. Might be the constant Bluetooth connection or the increased ram usage? I noticed the watch app can take up a lot of RAM.
Sound off.

Also N5 here, no problems though

N5, no problems here.

N5 with PA 4.45 here:
No problems at all. No difference on the Phone with/without the watch connected, or even android wear sw installed on the phone.
I think you have an app installed (either on the phone and/or on the watch that's causing this. But do not ask me which app :silly:
Maybe you did an Update of some apps or install some new apps?n Maybe going back to older version will help?
I would recommend to restart watch and phone. If this will not help I would do a backup of the phone and start troubleshooting.
First I would clear Data and cache of the android wear app (in Settings on the phone) and reset the watch (Factory defaults).
Then do not install any app like watchface etc. on the watch and check if all works fine. So maybe uninstall the apps on the phone for the clock either.
If then all works fine (and that should be the case) You can reinstall all apps and watchfaces one by one and try after every app if problem occours again.
Maybe you do a list of installed wear apps as some users reportet also problem with battry drain etc with some apps installed,

[Q] gpsd drain even while GPS off?

Hi!
I have been having an issue with my S III lately. For some time I have been trying to understand and configure my gps settings so that I could have gps always activated, without it draining the battery too heavily. I mainly tried manipulating my apps' location settings.
With no consistent results, I ultimately decided to try and turn gps off altogether in the pull down bar. Now, here's the issue; even with gps off, both the stock battery tool and GSam Battery Monitor report a 25% battery drain by "gpsd".
What am I doing wrong, and what can be done about it?
Thanks!
Stock S III, 4.1.2, unrooted.
Didn't wipe data when you upgraded?
Wipe the data of the service responsible.

Thanks! If you are referring to the Android update, I simply installed it without wiping anything.
What exactly would wiping data entail?

I am pretty sure I disabled everything connected with Google and location...
Sorry for posting in the wrong place, will do next time!
it seems there is a bug in gpsd. sometime it hangs at 100% cpu (25% -> 1 of 4 cores) you can check this in shell with "top" cmd
if it hangs only a reboot help.
you will notice a bit lag when you switch your phone on and it gets a bit warm when this happens
for me it happens once every 1-4 days and i have allready disabled all google location settings and samsung security settings
any idea ? i dont find anything else on google.
btw. it looks like this started happen with XELLA but cant say it for sure
/inteks
That sounds exactly like the issue I have been having, especially it happening only one in every few days.
I can confirm that it seems to have had a definitive starting point, but not sure what changes I made at that point. What do you mean by XELLA? And are any other ways of telling when this happens?

[Q] Dock icons disappear after reboot

Hey guys!
I just installed CyanogenMod 10 20130110-NIGHTLY to my Motorola Defy+ and I am experiencing this problem:
3 of 4 dock icons disappear after rebooting the phone. It doesn't happen always, just in approximately 50% cases. Any ideas how to fix it?
EDIT: Now, it happend after closing and app and returing to launchscreen, plus one widget was gone too It's becoming really annoying, plus I'm having serious issues with connecting to wifi. I guess I'll just start using again Gingerbread that actually works, instead of this piece of... unfinished, not working ...thing
Are the disappearing icons and widgets paid apps?
For WiFi go to Settings-WiFi-Menu-Advanced and uncheck 'Avoid poor connections', if you haven't done that already.
Sent from my Desire HD using xda premium
No, it's exDialer & Contacts (free) and Camera (it was already installed there) and the widget was also already there (I'm not sure about the name, because it's not in english, but I guess it could be translated as direct call, or direct dial).
I don't think we should talk about the WiFi here, since the thread is not named properly, but the signal was excellent and the Wifi Analyzer app was asking for Wifi Connecter Library, so I installed it (and rebooted, just for sure), but it didn't help.
thank you guysthank you alot guys
By the way, I found out when the Wifi problem occured. It happend after I overclocked to 1000 or 1200 MHz, I think that maybe the OS turned off some HW modules to save energy, or performace, or something like that

Battery Drain in OxygenOS 2.2.1-x

I started this topic because of battery drain in the OxygenOS rom. As you see in my post of 2804, 8:48 pm the phone drains the battery by 31 % a day when idling at one physical location. I'm trying to find out the root cause and solve this. When using the phone a lot i get a 4-5 hour SOT, but when idling .... nothing that impressive. At first i expected the mobile radio active bug to be the cause, but now that's solved (by upgrading to OOS2.2.1-x) i'm wondering again what's causing this.
Solved: Mobile Radio Active bug
Old post: I'm back from CM13.x using OOS 2.2.1 for a few days now. It's by no doubt a fine manufacturer rom. But I think it has the Mobile Radio Active bug, at least on my phone. When i reverted from CM13 i formatted all partitions for a real clean flash, than downloaded this rom from pc via twrp and installed it (not wiping cache or dalvik) and restarted. Below images show my battery menu. I used the screen a lot, otherwise it would have been still lower in the rank. Does anyone else have this on OOS 2.2.1?
yes, it will be on every 5.1.1 rom, as i know it was fixed in marshmallow
Try wipe cache and dalvik cache

It's not fixed in CM13.x. That's one of the reasons i came back to OOS 2.2.1

I did (wiped cache, the only option the stock recovery gave). It will take a day or some to verify it it's over. But, do you have this Mobile Radio Active?
After wiping cache in stock recovery I recharged the battery and confirmed it's not yet solved. (see attached images). The idle power consumption is still to high i believe.
I'll now do a factory reset and check.
Does anyone else have this? How is your idle power consumption compared to mine?

The factory reset doesn't resolve this. Isn't there really anyone else on OOS2.2.1 with this issue??
I can thankfully say I do not have this issue and I am also on OOS 2.2.1.
I've now factory resetted my OPX OOS 2.2.1 and installed a 2nd sim (oops 2 changes at once...). Now I have a lot shorter Mobile Radio Active times. However the battery drain in idle didn't decrease at all. Because it's so high I keep posting screenshots in the hope it grabs more attention. It's mostly the android system causing this, I've barely any app installed. :crying:
I am not sure. I think its not a bug. Its because your network is not very good so the mobile radio is searching for network which leads to battery drain.

Well, maybe you're right, but this is quite extreme (see pictures below). I see today OOS 2.2.1-x came out, and I'm installing it as soon as possible.

There is no solution for this. One thing which is consistent with this is that it happens over mobile data, does not happen over Wi-Fi. This is bug from google play services. I have used almost all ROMs and all have the same issue. And it's not only limited to our device. Search on Google and you will know. Fixes are just hit and trial nothing as permanent fix.
Solved: mobile radio active bug
I upgraded to OOS 2.2.1-x ... and the Mobile radio active bug is gone!
The battery drain not at all, however. Therefore I'm renaming this toppic, and keeping it alive.
I was expecting the mobile radio to cause the battery drain, but... see the attachements.
And in the second picture you see that the cellular network signal is not too good, however in all the attachments, right top you see the HSDPA connection is not that bad. The phone has always been at the same place, these two days.
I left only Bluetooth opened overnight (about 7 hours) and battery was done by 25%. I wanted to test xiaomi mi band during sleep. Is it normal? I am running 2.2.1 oos
Strangely enough the Bluetooth computation was shown as 1% while 15% was the GPS consumption. As I said I am pretty sure I left GPS off, as never need it.

I'm from the Netherlands, but when you go to downloads.oneplus.net the recommended Oneplus X rom is 2.2.1-x so i don't think it's specifically for these countries.
I made a support ticket for this at oneplus. link here: https://oneplustech.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/608917
At home i don't have 4G reception, but i do have 3G reception. So I set the prefered network type to 3G, but this didn't help.
I'll keep you informed.
"Google play services " drains happened on many occasions on many devices.
You could try to go to wipe data application of "google service framework" "google play store", Google play services"
On the last one, you can try to uninstall updates desactivate and reactivate.
For some, switching primary google account worked.
What is synchronized in your google account ? Did auto-back up is ON?
Some had to use a root app to stop this behaviour.
PS : 2.2.1-x don't change anything about that.

Wifi Only Connection and Speaker Questions

It is my understanding that the Zen2 using only a wifi connection can send texts, do "OK Google", and perform other data related functions even if not connected to a phone (i.e. if phone has both bluetooth and wifi off, or is not in proximity to the watch nor on the same wifi network). Is that the case? Does the phone need to at least be connected to cellular data, or can the watch still communicate over wifi even if the phone has no data connection (or is completely off)?
Regarding the speaker: I know that the Zen2 can play music stored on the phone. But, is there any way (or app) to stream music (or video such as youtube) on the watches speaker without being connected to the phone (watch is only connected to a wifi network)?
Lastly, what about phone calls? Is there any way for the watch to receive/make a phone call "independently" of the phone if the watch is only connected to wifi? If not, what about receiving or making a "data only" call (such as using Hangouts)?
TIA!
1. Watch must be connected to phone.
2. No.
3. No.

You can play YouTube videos (there is an app in the store). But I can't remember if it works on Bluetooth only. The downside is it seems to buffer the whole video before it starts, which took a while with my slow connection.

So what is the point of having wifi on the watch if it still needs to be connected to the phone? I don't get it.

I still get notifications via wifi if my phone isnt in bluetooth range.
ok google seems to work half the time for me, but only on 2.4ghz networks. They have to be public (w/o a portal that makes you accept terms of use) or ones youve used on your phone (the watch gets the wifi password from your phone)

Okay I have both cloudsync enabled (on phone's Wear app) and wifi set to automatic but still nothing. No email notifications and I have the crossed-out cloud icon on my phone. Perhaps the wear server is not working for me?
Did you just enable those settings now? If so, it probably takes some time to transmit the new info and WiFi password via slow Bluetooth. Leave you watch connected via Bluetooth and try again later.
I haven't tried to observe and test myself, but I would imagine there is some lag with getting the notifications since the watch connects and disconnects from WiFi periodically to save battery, as opposed to staying on WiFi constantly

Additionally, when you turn wifi on automatic on the watch, stay on that screen until the wifi connects. Once it does, you can adjust the wifi sleep preferences from the advanced menu.

I really would like to see an accurate list of what the Zenwatch 2
is capable of doing if I were to disable bluetooth on my phone &
only use the wifi feature in the phone and the watch.
I know I will not be able to make or receive phone calls if I do that.
But what about all the other functions of the watch?
Will wifi stay enabled in the watch if the bluetooth on my phone is disabled?
-----
Also I still have not found a way to sync/pair my watch to my phone without having to "unpair" after flashing
or restoring a different rom in my phone and setting up all the wear apps, android wear app and all the other
apps and settings which needs to be setup in the phone. (even after I reboot the watch and the phone)
The only solution I found was to "unpair" (factory reset the watch)
and after doing that the phone pairs just fine with anderoid wear
and starts the very long syncing process.
There must be some way of pairing and syncing the watch to the
phone without having to "unpair" it and start from scratch.
Thanks!

The ADB commands don't work at all, and after much reading in that thread you
posted I finally found out why it's not working for me.
I have upgraded my zenwatch 2 to Marshmallow 6.0 a few weeks ago and I got another
small ota update a few days ago which upgraded the OS version from v1.4 to v1.5 ...
So I am back at square one.
I am not interested in using more than one phone (S7 Edge) with my watch.
The only thing I need is a way to pair and sync my watch without needing to do a
"unpair-device" each time I use twrp to restore a different nandroid backup of my
phone's custom rom or simply restore the same custom rom both of which has
already been fully paired and synced with the watch.

I think that apk I linked to addresses the issue in your original post. Install the apk on your phone and it will load the app on to your watch. Once you need to setup your watch with a new phone or ROM, open the reset wear client on your watch. Click the "reset gms" button (root required). This will reboot your watch. Now your watch is ready to be paired to a new ROM or device without a factory reset or re-syncing of apps. Open the reset wear client app on your watch and click make BT discoverable. Then click yes. Now you can open android wear app on your phone and click on your watch. It will say pairing complete and updating. At this point you will reboot both your phone and watch. Then they should both connect fine and function without having to reset or re-sync your watch apps

Virgin Mobile Launcher on LG Stylo 4

How can I get rid of Virgin Mobile Launcher?
It atomatically downloads when activated.
I dont like it neither do I want it
Same problem
Seriously this has been a huge pain for me.. since 2 updates ago i think it installed virgin mobile launcher on my galaxy s7 and at least 10-20 times a day i get a notification that only says processes are running and that virgin mobile launcher is using battery. While gaming, like if playing pubg even on game priority mode it still activates and slows down the frame rate tremendously... like enough to where i have to stop playing... i cant uninstall it it looks like so i been searching for a way too... it sucks but so far i disabled all access permissions on my phone for the app under settings/applications it doesnt fully disable it from running automatically but helps a bit and it seems like it doesnt run for as long but we will see i guess... anyone who managed to solve this problem please help.
