Its not a bootloader unlock exploit, lol.... its a Trust Zone access exploit. It does effect the S4 but doesn't automatically unlock the bootloader and its yet to be seen if it adds any ability that will allow for an unlocked bootloader.
There are like 4 threads about this on the first page of this forum...

It will not work with Samsung or LG bootloaders as they have other security measures in place. This has been confirmed by Dan Rosenberg himself, jcase, and several other members of the community. All it offers us S4 users is a chance for the devs to learn more about how TrustZone works on the device.

It mean you can't get into recovery or download mode.

Which in-a-way blocks you from rooting your phone.

They released the key to the Motorola bootloader today over Twitter, basically all motorola phones can now unlock their bootloader. Crazy thing is, the hacker gave 3 notices that he would release the exploit, but they never contacted him.

Is there like some sort of secret to root this phone? And if not why isn't it posted all over the place. HTC Dev wont let me unlock so it's impossible for me to do anything.

you gotta unlock the bootloader first then flash a boot.img w/ system write enabled then flash a recovery then the modules and then the superuser.zip to get root access...

You're right beaups, let me break it down:
-From the CID.apk method, I got the "VZW_001" in abd fastboot oem readcid, which I heard is a no go.
-At HTCDev I got the error code #160 message (MID Not allowed) when I pasted the token ID (from start to end, excluding the word INFO) that I obtained from fastboot oem get_ identifier_token.
-RUU.exe stated not to be able to update my device to 1.15xxx from 2.4.605.2
I don't know what else to do. I cannot retire my Droid 4 just yet because of that. Your help would be very appreciated.

As this is my first post I beg of you to take it a little easy on me. I am currently on the new OTA and have had the DNA for 5 days. I realize the lockdown on this phone is particularly harsh with this update so I am curious if I can return the phone to Verizon for a non-updated new one but I will need some type of ammo to go in there with to really get them to exchange it. The only problem I have had so far is that my financial pages for paying bills (Verizon included) and my expense reporting will not load. Perhaps this is a java error that the OTA may have caused and I am sure Verizon wants their money so that will be a way to win.
Are there any major issues with the current OTA I can add to my complaint list to get my hands on another one?
And yes, it is very rude to ask a dev if they are coming close to a solution but I am curious if it will be all for naught and the workaround is on the horizon or in the near future. I'm sure it's on many new owners' minds and they are scared to ask so let the noob bashing begin on me. I can take the abuse.
Knowing my luck I will come home from the store and blammo beaups and jcase have cracked it.
Update : Called Verizon, made claim, got a new in box sealed DNA, brought it home and went to work on it!
Proud owner now of a rooted, unlocked, s-off, rom and custom kernel running, new OTA radio, future updates from Verizon ota's blocked, bad boy of a DNA!

Sad News For the P769

So i decided to ask LG if we actually do have an unlocked BootLoader and if we did how were we supposed to unlock it and this is what they responded me with....
Dear Carlos,
Thank you for contacting LG Electronics.
Unfortunately in USA models boot loader cannot be unlocked as a carrier request. USA models, even though they look similar to the international modes, have carrier specifications on their software. Due to their request that’s why we are not able to unlock it.
Once again thank you for contacting LG. In case you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again either via email, or by calling our customer service division at your convenience. Have a wonderful day.

This sucks. I was so expecting to try Paranoid Android on my phone. Ah, well.... at least it's rooted. I also deodexed and zipaligned and removed the bloatware.
If you disable the lockscreen and use Widgetlocker.... along with Nova Launcher, it does give it a Nexus feel.

That's true, kuma.. Personally I read for a couple of weeks, over and over all that was needed and how to recover from mistakes.. It helped so much reading all the posts, what works, what doesn't. I'm very greatful to everyone that went before, and the crazy devs for pushing the envelope and figuring things out.
The current unlocking process may be complicated, but it works, if you take time to read(and read again).

I want to unlock SO BADLY but I get stuck after I flash, I don't know what to do ahaha xD
The current unlock method for TMO P769 is so convoluted and it seems rather risky... Risky and destructive enough, I will probably not bother. How likely do you think a decent/proper unlock method will be found before the end of the year? I really dislike the stock UI and limited theming options/etc, came from PACMan on my previous phone and this is rather disappointing for a phone with such solid hardware.
Its looking pretty unlikely and I think I might just sell this phone and go back to Samsung where they tell the carrier where to shove it when they ask for a locked bootloader. Shame on LG for complying with this... Sure, they aren't Apple or Samsung but I think they could have pulled it off. At the very least they could have snuck some hidden method like HTC with the wire trick for S-OFF into the US version.

CAN th New 4.09.605.5 OTA update still be unlocked&rooted ?

the title says it all ?
My friend has one that just took the update.... can I root and unlock the bootloader ?
Thanks !
I would like to know this as well. Apparently my desire to root came just a bit too late. Anyone have any info?

Like I have said before. Until the newer models block the temp root exploit, they will most likely not burn another exploit for this old of a phone. When the Vzw m7 had a fix the m8 didn't get yet, jcase said himself, he will not burn an exploit on one model. Wait until more models patch the exploit and I am sure they will get another exploit made.
TL/DR? Wait until more phones get this fix on them. Telling them once is okay... Spamming them will most likely not motivate them on making another exploit.
