Camera not focusing on text - Asus Padfone X and S

For some reason the camera on my Asus Padfone X does not focus in on text. For example, I am using CamCard business card scanner app and with my Note 3, I would launch the app and it would automatically focus onto the card and easily capture the text. However on my Padfone X it never seems to be able to focus on the text. I have tried this with artificial LED, halogen, and incadenscent lighting as well as natural sunlight. Nothing works. Anyone else have the same problem and know how to fix?

Is it set for macro shots? Is that an option?

It is

I just installed it and took a sample. I had to touch the screen to focus on the card. Afterward, it worked.

Screen on app

I use my tablet a lot for taking notes in class and currently I just have the screen stay on. Does anyone know of an app that well turn the screen on using the camera similar to the one that uses the proximity sensor so I can save some battery?

[Q] Solid notification light?

Is there a way to make the notification light solid, rather than flashing?
I.e. when I get an email I want a solid yellow bar, not the random flashing it has at the moment.
I have downloaded light flow, but it doesn't really work as the default Sony settings seems to override it - and turning off the Sony default turns off the notification light altogether.

does this app do the job?

It does not seem to work properly as per my OP. I still get flashes which I believe come from the default Sony software which overrides light flow.
hmmm have you tried other apps like such
i know gravity box has something similar but you have to pay for the feature after the trial runs out

Call recording

Is there any xposed app for this device to enable call recording? Or will one of the Samsung or xperia work?

I'm not sure about a xposed module to enable call recording. But I'm using call recorder from the play store and it is working good on my device. It is a paid app but worth the money.

I tired the trial, but I can get it to record under any of the four methods. What are your settings? Also, I have it set to auto record, however it only turns red for a moment then back to the old icon.

Got it working, thanks. Looks like it's worth the $10 they want.

Auto-Brightness: Misbehaving for anybody else?

Is anybody else having an issue w/ autobrightness? It's blindingly bright even in dark rooms. I tested it with my finger over just about the entire front face at the top. When I watch logcat, over the course of an entire minute, the screen brightness starts at around 130 and slowly ekes its way down to 80. When I remove it, you can barely see a change.
Mine acts just fine. This is weird. What is your base band and kernel version? I am running the version below.
