Good Day - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a problem about my Android Phone, last last month was my first time to have an android phone and im very excited to install apps and somehow to customize it.
One day while searching and reading on google I saw something interesting which is Rooting Android, I tried it and successfully rooted my phone and there's no problem but I know that if my phone is rooted I can customize my ROM, Upgrade my phone version and etc.. Im very interested with that, so I used to search more about how to install custom ROM and I have read some forum threads that has a steps on how to install custom rom and what tools to used, i dont know if that's what im looking for but I just followed the intructions and steps and then applied it on my phone.
When im about to install Custom ROM I used MTKdroidtools for my O+ 8.2 Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread for creating backups, after that procedure there's a notification that I will reboot my android phone via CWM Recovery Mode then I reboot it, then it turned off and turned on I know that im in Recovery Mode because I have encountered it before.
Then here comes my crazy idea and I don't know why but I just continued to do it, I clicked the Wipe Data or Wipe All Cache Data I forgot it then after that the next thing I did was to installed the Custom ROM("ICS_DARK_BREED_V_A818_by_BassureroX") which I have downloaded on my SD Card then reboot my phone again and then its not working anymore I mean it's stack in bootloop which my friend says that's what happened to my phone, I regret on what I have done I really need to recover my phone back to normal again please help me.
Is there any thing I can do? I hope there's still a solution for my phone problem.
Thank You.

Use paragraph, your post is very difficult to read.
Now, regarding your problem, try to wipe /system, /data and /cache from recovery, flash the rom and wipe /data and /cache again.

I meant the app didn't show the paragraphs in your post. Anyway, the only way to boot a turned off phone in recovery is by a key combo, generally POWER + VOL+ or POWER + VOL-, depending on the model

I can now enter to the recovery mode sir.
*Here is a short explanation for what really happened:
I have an android phone(Rooted & ROM Manager installed).
I used MTK Droidtools for backups, rebooted and autoCWM was created.
I Wiped Data/Factory Reset then Install the Custom ROM from SD Card, when finished i rebooted my phone then its not working anymore.
But i can charge it and i can also enter to autoCWM when pressing Power Button+Camera Button+Volume Up Button.
is there anything i can do?

Yes, if you can boot into recovery mode then you can try flashing another rom for your phone, maybe checking the integrity of the file before flashing it

I had a look on the net, and I could not find any stock nor custom rom for your model. I think you flashed a rom for another model, and of course now the phone is obviously not booting.
If you can find a way to return to stock rom you're good to go, maybe looking on the website of the manifacturer, otherwise there is nothing much to do..
Keep in mind for the next time to double check what you're flashing, and to always backup first.

[Q][UPDATE] CWM can't install ROMs properly - Stuck on Samsung Logo

Okay okay.. hello. I'm a new girl at XDA and thus new to all this rooting stuff.
First and foremost, I'm on Android 2.3.6. I used the XWLA4 insecure kernel to flash my SGS2 (since my official Samsung kernel is indeed XWLA4) and used S2Root to install BusyBox and superuser, but I had no CWM recovery so I manually installed CWM 4.0.0.2 via Odin.
It worked like a charm Now came the time to flash a custom firmware. I was thinking of MIUI, CM7 (because I didn't like stock ICS that much) and this new Fatal1ty Extreme ROM. In fact, I liked said ROM so much that I wanted to have it on my phone + the Red theme. And that's where the annoyance began..
I've carefully read all the instructions, but I didn't understand one:
"Copy the ROM to the Root dir of your SD card."
I thought it was just some directory in my USB storage, so I connected my device to my computer and connected the USB storage, yet I didn't find any folder named "Root" or anything that resembled a root directory.
After 1 hour of googling and extensive research, I was so annoyed that I just dragged the ROM + Theme to my USB storage.
I boot into CWM recovery, did a wipe (data/factory reset, dalvik cache wipe etc.) and then installed the ROM. When I rebooted, THIS happened:
I was stuck at the first screen, the one that said "Samsung Galaxy SII" on it with the yellow triangle!
And this screen did not go away until I boot my phone into download mode and flashed the official XWLA4 kernel from Samsung, aka unroot my phone.
After Unroot, my phone worked like normal. No bootloops, no being stuck on the first screen etc.
Can someone please shed light on this? Touchwiz isn't exactly my cup of tea anymore and I really would like to give my phone a custom look ._.
Thanks in advance
EDIT: It seems that this problem seems big, as every ROM that I flash (with wipes) takes <5 seconds to finish, and that usually means that it's a bad flash ._.
Can someone tell me how to solve this?
I've carefully read all the instructions, but I didn't understand one:
"Copy the ROM to the Root dir of your SD card
Root = copy the rom to the sd card not inside any folder .
DO NOT put anything in usb storage it is not the instructions for anything SD CARD only internal not the external one .
Connect phone to pc in usb mass storage mode copy the rom to the phones internal sd card only .
follow with CWM and root phone via Odin
Root + CWM .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
Then boot to recovery and install the rom .
That is an excellent choice of rom by the way .

Well, I didn't put it in any folder and certainly not in the folder that says "usbStorage" on it. Please excuse me for my aloofness in this matter as I still don't quite understand how to access my internal SD card.
I have USB-debugging enabled and when I connect to my storage, I have something like this:

So, which one of these is the internal SD card? ._.

Doesn't work Tried that, but still doesn't go past the first screen..
EDIT: Maybe I should just flash it and then wait for it to boot.. I read similar situations where people flashed ROMs and they too were stuck on a boot screen, but in reality it really took so long due to the caches being rebuilt ._.
I'll try that. If anyone has suggestions, post in here

Unrooted again.
I want to flash Fatal1ty Extreme with the Fatal1ty Red Theme package ._.
I'm on the stock XXKI4 firmware with the XWLA4 kernel ._.
When I root my phone with CF-Root-SGS2_XW_OXA_LA4-v5.0-CWM5 kernel from Chainfire, the root is fine but when I flash Fatal1ty via CWM, it says "installation complete" but I can't get past the first screen ._.
When I root my device with the XWLA4 insecure kernel and then root it with S2Root, still nothing.
I even tried flashing Redpill 1.3 (auto-root) and then flash Fatal1ty, still nothing..
I'm always stuck at the first screen ._.

Looking at the pic you posted you've downloaded the rom and theme twice (?). It will prevent a sucessful flash. Experience.

Yeah, I downloaded them twice ._. But they are only once in my phone's storage.
Agree numbered zip makes no difference if it ends as .zipYou can even rename the zip.

Well every time I tried flasing a file like that ( e.g : update-cm-9-20120331-CODEWORKX-galaxys2-signed(2).zip) it will not work.
I tried two different ROMs: The Thebyani ICS one and the VK ICS one.. both have the same problem as Fatal1ty: They're stuck on the boot screen.
EDIT: It seems that this problem seems big, as every ROM that I flash (with wipes) takes <5 seconds to finish, and that usually means that it's a bad flash ._.
Can someone tell me how to solve this?
Okay, here's a sum-up of the problem thus far:
1. Root is fine with any kernel, device functions without any problems.
2. When I want to flash a custom ROM via CWM, it takes <5 seconds to finish and is stuck at the boot logo.
3. Unrooting solves this.
Something must be faulty with the device... Flashing kernels and back to stock is without any complications, yet when I wanna flash a custom ROM, it's stuck at the boot logo ._.

I had this issue in the past. Try to flash it with fastboot rather than Odin. Search for the guide in the forum.
Install PdaNet Desktop so you will get the correct drivers (worked for me).

You probably have a stock ROM. I don't know how, but I think the stock bootloader somehow restores the original recovery. I never tried CWM on the stock rom. After I flashed and booted the custom recovery I always flashed CyanogenMod right after it. If I didn't do this, I would notice I had the default <3e> recovery after an adb reboot recovery command, but didn't give this too much thought.
I once thought I bricked my tablet, I had stock ROM, tried to flash something not meant for P7100 but after 15 minutes of staying with a black empty screen on, the tablet "magically" rebooted back to a fully working rom.
Search for pershoot and ask him more details. That's just what I observed.
What I think is that it is not a good idea to mess with the stock bootloader. If you want custom recovery, flash CyanogenMod and CWM will remain permanent. Otherwise, just let it be, or, when you need advanced recovery functions, use fastboot to boot CWM 6.0.x.x from your computer, do what you have to do, and reboot normally. You will remain rooted even if you have stock recovery.
Thank you Al3cks.
Yes, you're right, I do not want brick my tablet.
But I do not understand why CWM does not install in place of that of Android. Not with with Fastboot, and not with Odin (Fastboot and Odin show a good flash!).
Why?
I really want CWM Recovery on this Tablet because it's possible.
If nobody has arrived to put the CMW, I stopped immediately but many people have this Recovery on the P7100 10.1v tablet.
Now, where still the problem... bad root ?
Is it possible to flash from internal memory (recovery.zip) ???
Please, I do not want to give up, I want this mode! :crying:
Thank you all for your help and your patience...

Try to install Recovery from ROM-Manager..You will have to select Galaxy tab 10.1.
Try if you can go into recovery.
Than flash Recovery.img for 10.1v .. 5.5.0.4 or latest one via fastboot

Hi jensema,
On another forum, a guy says Rom Manager does not recognize the tablet 10.1v.
Rom Manager knows that like the 10.1 and it may brick the tablet.
But I can't say if this guy say right...
What do you think about this ?
Stay away from ROM Manager on this tablet. And as I said, I don't think you can have CWM recovery, as long as you are on stock rom. The stock rom somehow restores the original recovery on every boot.

I can only tell you what i did today:
had kind of same problem, after flashing recovery, a reboot to recovery took me to custom recovery.
Had those problem today and already in the past.. Or when a recovery flash was succesfully, i can boot to recovery, but reboot option out of recovery took me to recovery again.
Today I flashed Stock 3.0.1 to try the latest cm10.
Again i had problems flashin recovery..
From rootet stock 3.0.1 i Installed ROM manager.
I installed recovery for 10.1 through Rom manager..
and after this i booted to recovery succesfully ..(For me it worked- try at your own risk..)
I went back to fastboot and flashed CWM 6.0.1.5. for 10.1v from pershoot site..without problems..
CWM 6.0.1.5 working.. Problems never occured again..

Well... I just make a big risked experience.
I installed Rom Manager (before response Al3cks) and I flashed CWM Recovery.
After reboot, the tablet stay on a black screen for a few minutes (I was scared) and it restarted on CWM Recovery! Yes ... but for a short time.
And after a normal reboot on ICS, I tried again to restart the CWM Recovery and it was gone!
I back on the recovery of Android.
Al3cks say right, after each start, the original ROM check and removes recovery not original.
Fortunately, this ROM does not relock the bootloader and not uninstalled root!
Conclusion : We can only have another recovery if the tablet is flashed with a custom ROM ?
(and sorry again for my bad english)

Then just boot the recovery.
fastboot boot revovery.img
So you can backup/restore and install custom rom as well.

From what I observed, and from what you experienced, yes. If you want CWM recovery, flash a custom ROM.
Thanks for interest
Ok, but now my tablet is under ICS official (pure, no Touchwiz, ...)
This ROM is developed from Vodafone and is an official upgrade.
Can you tell me why change ROM to unofficial ICS or JB (without front cam, ..), or another ?
Thank you

Because I often use the Backup-Restore function in CWM
I like testing many APK and when my phone is down, I restore last image.
If I can make Backup/Restore from my tablet, I can test JB rom and if I don't like this, I restore the actually rom in 2 minutes...

I had a problem with CM10 so I went back to stock ICS and I managed to get CWM 6.0.1.2 to remain permanent. I used fastboot to flash it first (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img), then immediately after this, without rebooting the tablet, while still in fastboot, i ran "fastboot boot recovery.img" and in CWM when I hit reboot system now, it gave me a warning telling me that bootloader may restore default recovery and gave an option to fix this and I selected the option. To my surprise, at the next reboot to recovery I found CWM. I only needed it to root my tablet, I didn't want it permanent, but I don't mind. Go to pershoot's blog (droidbasement) and acces the folder for the CM9 rom. From there, download the recovery archive and extract recovery.img from it.

It works fine on SM-J500G too. But I have to flash the stock firmware after flashing twrp with odin on my rooted device. My device cannot boot into system, keep booting into twrp every time I reboot from twrp menu. After flashing stock firmware and and re-flash twrp, my device can now boot into system when I choose reboot from twrp menu. Thanks for the twrp tar file.

So if I understand correctly... You restored a old backup but it didn't restore the apps. If that's the case, did it say any errors when you tried to restore

Sadly I really don't know what could cause the issue. My best guess is the boot.img . Once I am at home I will send you some instructions how to flash the boot.img
OK instructions.
To flash bootimg download the stock Rom from sammobile. Then open the ZIP. Next open the ZIP inside the ZIP by removing .md5 . then take out the boot.img. once you enter twrp flash the Boot.IMG.with the flash IMG option

Hello. I know that this post is off topic, but this is the only "popular" thread for this phone and it doesn't have it's own forum yet.
@CTXz : I hope you won't get mad on me for mentioning you Maybe you can answer me about what I wrote below.
I got Samsung Galaxy J5 SM-J600FN yesterday. It is a nice phone for 200euros... But I experienced a problem. When I put a call in speaker mode, the person with who I'm talking won't hear me after few seconds and when I switch back to normal mode (speaker off) he can hear me. Now it started to happen in normal calls too. I did put network in 2G to consume less MB, I don't know if this might be a problem.
Anybody else experienced this? I'm wonder if it is a hardware issue or software issue.
Also, the volume buttons and power button is moving lil bit in left-right, I don't know if is a problem at all because are working. So, people who has this device, please let me know if buttons are same to you and if you experienced that call problem.
Thank you! Have a nice day! Robert.
PS: I'm sorry if my English is bad

Hey no i'm not mad
The calling issue is most likely software. It's also quite common. Try to wipe cache. If the problem presists you can make a twrp backup and install the stock rom again. Then restore the backup data etc.
The buttons are totally fine. All my Samsung phones/tablets have that. Why? Dunno.

Gonna wipe the cache now.
About buttons, you gave me that peace of kind by saying that I was worried that could get break soon or that I got a device with problems. At my previous phone named Galaxy S Advance the buttons were moving too but less and I have used it for 2+ years, I never checked buttons before tho.
I won't install other stock Rom yet until I'm sure that I won't break that Knox. I'm new to this Knox protection and I haven't read much about it. I already miss so many root apps from previous phone
May I ask you in how much time does charge your J5? Mine charged in 4-5 hours when it was powered off, I did this two times and now I think i won't repeat it again.
Thank you alot for your answer.
If you reflash stock it wont break stock. But if you flash twrp it will

As far as i know, you can't install stock rom with TWRP, first put Dload folder in the home directory of sdcard, and then, you must flash stock recovery image of the stock rom you're going to flash from, that is the recovery image:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24459283995315189
Power off the phone and press vol up+ vol down and power.
It will now fully flash stock ROM with all stock files.
There is a full TWRP backup of the stock rom klw-l24-b151, you can simply download it and put it in the TWRP folder of your phone and restore it with TWRP, and Voila!!
You have stock rom installed
Here is the backup links:

Or

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge SM-G925F Please Help

Hi i was hoping someone could help me fix my SM-G925F device. I will give you abit of information of how im in the situation going back to about a year ago i got a firmware update on my samsung galaxy s6 edge so i started downloading it and my device rebooted and said it was installing the update but halfway through it must of corrupted or failed but my device still booted up and when i went into my settings it said i was on android version 7.0 so thought nothing of it but did start having a few minor issues now and then but anyway on sunday i was playing a game on my phone and it randomly just froze so i waited 2 mins and then it seemed to be working again but then 5 mins later it did it again and i waited around 10 mins and it was still frozen so i had a look on google and it showed me a button combination you can do to restart your device if it does freeze but after it tried rebooting it would just sit on the s6 edge logo screen so i tired looking online again and it told me to go into recovery mode which i did and it showed a little error at the bottom left corner saying "dm-verity error" but i still tried clearing my cache partition but when i rebooted the phone it was still stuck on the s6 edge logo. I decided to reflash my device with a stock rom from sammobile but it failed at system.img and when i try booting my phone i get a error saying "An error has occured while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart PC software" so i tried flashing a custom recovery named "TWRP" but that also failed so now when i go into dowload mode by holding down the down volume + home + power buttons and press volume up to enter dowload mode in the top left corner it says:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SM-G925F
CURRENT BINARY: CUSTOM
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
REACTIVATION LOCK: OFF
Secure Dowload: Enabled
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 1 (0x0200)
AP SWREV: B:6 K:2 S:2
I have tried different stock roms that match my device model but now odin fails on boot.img or just stays on initialization
An easy way is to just flash TWRP and flash a custom ROM they have may that are stock flavours with improvements. also, check for a dm-verity flash file for TWRP
It wont let me flash anything using odin anymore to flash a custom recovery. Odin recognizes my device but wont flash anything like the progress bar under dowloading... doesnt even show up anymore. The only thing i can think of is taking it to a samsung engineer facility but i bet they charge loads

Well, your only option now is let it boot loop and run out of power give it a little charge and see if it will flash TWRP for your device, small chance your internal flash drive is fried or the critical portion of the flash drive is corrupted.

Well, there is hope since custom binary is not a big problem. K check out the options menu tick F.Reset Time and Re-partition and UNTICK Auto Reboot
Load TWRP but make sure it is the TWRP version for your S6.
Click start should do something like this. Should take about a minute. if that does not work drain the battery and do the named steps again if that fails I can not think of another way.

Yeh it wipes the flash drive of the current OS, then head into TWRP mode and flash a custom ROM from the S6 XDA sub, plenty of excellent ROM's make sure it can be flashed through TWRP those are easy.

NP if that fails you can still do the wipe and then if you used your google account there should be a backup of your data stored. should be here: https://drive.google.com/drive/backups

Stuck on init last time I had that I drained my phone, then put it back into download mode while it being connected to one of my PC's. Charging part is just the phone not registering it software-wise.
