Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge SM-G925F Please Help - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi i was hoping someone could help me fix my SM-G925F device. I will give you abit of information of how im in the situation going back to about a year ago i got a firmware update on my samsung galaxy s6 edge so i started downloading it and my device rebooted and said it was installing the update but halfway through it must of corrupted or failed but my device still booted up and when i went into my settings it said i was on android version 7.0 so thought nothing of it but did start having a few minor issues now and then but anyway on sunday i was playing a game on my phone and it randomly just froze so i waited 2 mins and then it seemed to be working again but then 5 mins later it did it again and i waited around 10 mins and it was still frozen so i had a look on google and it showed me a button combination you can do to restart your device if it does freeze but after it tried rebooting it would just sit on the s6 edge logo screen so i tired looking online again and it told me to go into recovery mode which i did and it showed a little error at the bottom left corner saying "dm-verity error" but i still tried clearing my cache partition but when i rebooted the phone it was still stuck on the s6 edge logo. I decided to reflash my device with a stock rom from sammobile but it failed at system.img and when i try booting my phone i get a error saying "An error has occured while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart PC software" so i tried flashing a custom recovery named "TWRP" but that also failed so now when i go into dowload mode by holding down the down volume + home + power buttons and press volume up to enter dowload mode in the top left corner it says:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SM-G925F
CURRENT BINARY: CUSTOM
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
REACTIVATION LOCK: OFF
Secure Dowload: Enabled
KNOX WARRANTY VOID: 1 (0x0200)
AP SWREV: B:6 K:2 S:2
I have tried different stock roms that match my device model but now odin fails on boot.img or just stays on initialization

An easy way is to just flash TWRP and flash a custom ROM they have may that are stock flavours with improvements. also, check for a dm-verity flash file for TWRP

It wont let me flash anything using odin anymore to flash a custom recovery. Odin recognizes my device but wont flash anything like the progress bar under dowloading... doesnt even show up anymore. The only thing i can think of is taking it to a samsung engineer facility but i bet they charge loads

Well, your only option now is let it boot loop and run out of power give it a little charge and see if it will flash TWRP for your device, small chance your internal flash drive is fried or the critical portion of the flash drive is corrupted.

Thanks for the reply and i think the partitions are corrupt because before i tried installing twrp and went into the stock recovery i got a few errors such as failed to mount /efs and failed to mount /cache

In TWRP never reboot straight away you need to install some files.
Download Odin: https://odindownload.com/
Download TWRP, make sure to select the correct Samsung device: https://twrp.me/Devices/Samsung/
Download Magisk, https://******************/#How_to_Install_Magisk_Latest_Version_201_on_Android_Non-Rooted_Phones
Download RMM-State-Bypass, https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UvqcYUbVTFomAmKCVkMyfTWeuz1sEz8n/view
Download Disable_Dm_Verity_ForceEncrypt, https://zackptg5.com/android.php#disverfe
Download a custom ROM(H-ROM & Lineage work with TWRP)) but make sure it is for your specific Samsung Galaxy device, https://forum.xda-developers.com/

It literally doesn't let me flash anything anymore odin loads the tar file then when i press start it sets up the connection and the just stays on instilization and i have left it for over 2 hours before and it was still on that same bit.

Well, there is hope since custom binary is not a big problem. K check out the options menu tick F.Reset Time and Re-partition and UNTICK Auto Reboot
Load TWRP but make sure it is the TWRP version for your S6.
Click start should do something like this. Should take about a minute. if that does not work drain the battery and do the named steps again if that fails I can not think of another way.

Yeh it wipes the flash drive of the current OS, then head into TWRP mode and flash a custom ROM from the S6 XDA sub, plenty of excellent ROM's make sure it can be flashed through TWRP those are easy.

[Q][UPDATE] CWM can't install ROMs properly - Stuck on Samsung Logo

Okay okay.. hello. I'm a new girl at XDA and thus new to all this rooting stuff.
First and foremost, I'm on Android 2.3.6. I used the XWLA4 insecure kernel to flash my SGS2 (since my official Samsung kernel is indeed XWLA4) and used S2Root to install BusyBox and superuser, but I had no CWM recovery so I manually installed CWM 4.0.0.2 via Odin.
It worked like a charm Now came the time to flash a custom firmware. I was thinking of MIUI, CM7 (because I didn't like stock ICS that much) and this new Fatal1ty Extreme ROM. In fact, I liked said ROM so much that I wanted to have it on my phone + the Red theme. And that's where the annoyance began..
I've carefully read all the instructions, but I didn't understand one:
"Copy the ROM to the Root dir of your SD card."
I thought it was just some directory in my USB storage, so I connected my device to my computer and connected the USB storage, yet I didn't find any folder named "Root" or anything that resembled a root directory.
After 1 hour of googling and extensive research, I was so annoyed that I just dragged the ROM + Theme to my USB storage.
I boot into CWM recovery, did a wipe (data/factory reset, dalvik cache wipe etc.) and then installed the ROM. When I rebooted, THIS happened:
I was stuck at the first screen, the one that said "Samsung Galaxy SII" on it with the yellow triangle!
And this screen did not go away until I boot my phone into download mode and flashed the official XWLA4 kernel from Samsung, aka unroot my phone.
After Unroot, my phone worked like normal. No bootloops, no being stuck on the first screen etc.
Can someone please shed light on this? Touchwiz isn't exactly my cup of tea anymore and I really would like to give my phone a custom look ._.
Thanks in advance
EDIT: It seems that this problem seems big, as every ROM that I flash (with wipes) takes <5 seconds to finish, and that usually means that it's a bad flash ._.
Can someone tell me how to solve this?
I've carefully read all the instructions, but I didn't understand one:
"Copy the ROM to the Root dir of your SD card
Root = copy the rom to the sd card not inside any folder .
DO NOT put anything in usb storage it is not the instructions for anything SD CARD only internal not the external one .
Connect phone to pc in usb mass storage mode copy the rom to the phones internal sd card only .
follow with CWM and root phone via Odin
Root + CWM .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
Then boot to recovery and install the rom .
That is an excellent choice of rom by the way .

Well, I didn't put it in any folder and certainly not in the folder that says "usbStorage" on it. Please excuse me for my aloofness in this matter as I still don't quite understand how to access my internal SD card.
I have USB-debugging enabled and when I connect to my storage, I have something like this:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

So, which one of these is the internal SD card? ._.
How i just reinstalled fatality rom .
Pick CWM and Root LA4
Flash via Odin
Download rom
Phone setting activate USB mass storage and copy the rom to the phone .
Boot to recovery mode vol up + home + Pwr release at first splash screen
Install/choose zip from sd card select fatality confirm yes
Installs reboot wait for rom to initialize then set it up .

Doesn't work Tried that, but still doesn't go past the first screen..
EDIT: Maybe I should just flash it and then wait for it to boot.. I read similar situations where people flashed ROMs and they too were stuck on a boot screen, but in reality it really took so long due to the caches being rebuilt ._.
I'll try that. If anyone has suggestions, post in here

Unrooted again.
I want to flash Fatal1ty Extreme with the Fatal1ty Red Theme package ._.
I'm on the stock XXKI4 firmware with the XWLA4 kernel ._.
When I root my phone with CF-Root-SGS2_XW_OXA_LA4-v5.0-CWM5 kernel from Chainfire, the root is fine but when I flash Fatal1ty via CWM, it says "installation complete" but I can't get past the first screen ._.
When I root my device with the XWLA4 insecure kernel and then root it with S2Root, still nothing.
I even tried flashing Redpill 1.3 (auto-root) and then flash Fatal1ty, still nothing..
I'm always stuck at the first screen ._.

Looking at the pic you posted you've downloaded the rom and theme twice (?). It will prevent a sucessful flash. Experience.

Agree numbered zip makes no difference if it ends as .zipYou can even rename the zip.

Well every time I tried flasing a file like that ( e.g : update-cm-9-20120331-CODEWORKX-galaxys2-signed(2).zip) it will not work.
I tried two different ROMs: The Thebyani ICS one and the VK ICS one.. both have the same problem as Fatal1ty: They're stuck on the boot screen.
EDIT: It seems that this problem seems big, as every ROM that I flash (with wipes) takes <5 seconds to finish, and that usually means that it's a bad flash ._.
Can someone tell me how to solve this?
Okay, here's a sum-up of the problem thus far:
1. Root is fine with any kernel, device functions without any problems.
2. When I want to flash a custom ROM via CWM, it takes <5 seconds to finish and is stuck at the boot logo.
3. Unrooting solves this.
Something must be faulty with the device... Flashing kernels and back to stock is without any complications, yet when I wanna flash a custom ROM, it's stuck at the boot logo ._.

I9300 XELLA How to Root?

Hi fellows,
I read that chainfire has not yet released cf-root for XELLA rom.
and my question is how can i root my device without installing custom rom?
if that's not possible, is there a kernel that i can flash that roots my phone without so much tweaks.
Rooting
Download CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4.zip on your computer and extract the file.
from h**p://download.chainfire.eu/196/CF-Root/SGS3/CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4.zip
Open ODIN
Switch off your phone and enter into download mode.
(To enter into download mode you need to press Volume down button and Home button simultaneously while turning the phone on.)
Hope you have your device’s USB drivers installed on your computer if not install it.
Now open ODIN on your computer and connect your device to computer while your phone is on download mode.
When your device will be connected to your computer, one ID:COM boxes will turn yellow/Blue after some time.
Select the files that you have to flash or install on your device from the extracted files in first download.
Now in ODIN, check for Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time options.and for the Re-partition option, check only if you have selected .PIT file above.
Click start in ODIN and the flashing will begin.
This flashing might take some time.As soon as the installation ends your device will restart.
Unplug your device from computer.
Switch it off again after it turns on completely and boots to home screen.
Now you need to enter into recovery mode,to enter into recovery switch on the phone while pressing Volume up,Home and Power buttons together.
Navigate with volume buttons to and select wipe data/factory reset from the recovery menu.
Select reboot system now and wait for device to boot again.
You are done, you rooted your Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 to 4.1.2 Jelly Bean I9300XXELLA Final Firmware.

I think this method will flash the kernel and the sudden death fix will not stay is that true? and are there risks because of the locked bootloader.
Read a topic where someone bricked his phone because he flashed another stock firmware on xella update.

Why are people referring to the ELLA bootloader as locked? It's not locked because you can root/flash to your heart's content, the only difference is a custom kernel or recovery will set the flash counter back to 1 after TA, simple to get round. Flash a stock kernel, run TA, flash stock rom (without entering recovery), wipe data in stock recovery. How is that so hard for people to get round?
Oke guys,,,, my point is i always thought that flashing CF ROOT is flashing kernel!!
SO if i flash latest CF ROOT my safe XELLA kernel is gone..... is that not right ???

Yes thats right so there is no way to root XELLA with keeping STOCK kernel and STOCK recovery for safety of SDS.

to be safe or not , I myself 100% sure that XELLA don't contain the fix . why ?! I installed the XELLA and my device died two days ago.
as long as Samsung didn't announce that "a certain rom" got the fix , No one is safe.
I communicated with STOMAX please find his posts " specially the Post where he introduced his custom ROM Stomax v13"
final words (My opinion)
Samsung didn't officially announce the fix (even the bug) == No one is safe.
Good Luck
Flashing cf root does not flash a kernel. If you flash cf root then flash one of the protected recoveries, you should be fine on XXELLA

I can enter on recovery mode but I think that I have a problem here, because in the recovery says that:
And when I try to do anything in the recovery the smartphone restarts automatically and don´t do anything, and when I can install another custom ROM from ext-SDcard all goes good, but when I restart it stuck on initial logo again.
I flash with Odin
(Odin3 v1.85 y Odin3 v3.04)
2 officials firmwares from "samfirmware.com"
and also the: CF-Auto-Root-m0-m0xx-gti9300.tar
and the CF-SGS3-CWM-v5.5-v1.5
and the CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4
and none of it worked, all give me the same error.
The kies doesn´t detects it....
(I close all the kies process when I use odin....)
Any suggestion?
Obviously it lost the warranty because the flash counter says 2 and I can not delete it because it does not start :S

Yes I try to flash Philz recovery and the recovery says it´s successfull the installation but doesn´t work, when I try to format anythig I got this error on recovery:
"E: format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p8"

Exactly so.....you can have no screen or anything at all, or you can have no recovery but d/l mode still shows (worst case scenario)
Try flashing pit files with repartition ticked,to reformat partitions and then flash a Sammy stock rom(not deodexed or with root).worked on gs2 and should work on gs3 too..

Good Day

I have a problem about my Android Phone, last last month was my first time to have an android phone and im very excited to install apps and somehow to customize it.
One day while searching and reading on google I saw something interesting which is Rooting Android, I tried it and successfully rooted my phone and there's no problem but I know that if my phone is rooted I can customize my ROM, Upgrade my phone version and etc.. Im very interested with that, so I used to search more about how to install custom ROM and I have read some forum threads that has a steps on how to install custom rom and what tools to used, i dont know if that's what im looking for but I just followed the intructions and steps and then applied it on my phone.
When im about to install Custom ROM I used MTKdroidtools for my O+ 8.2 Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread for creating backups, after that procedure there's a notification that I will reboot my android phone via CWM Recovery Mode then I reboot it, then it turned off and turned on I know that im in Recovery Mode because I have encountered it before.
Then here comes my crazy idea and I don't know why but I just continued to do it, I clicked the Wipe Data or Wipe All Cache Data I forgot it then after that the next thing I did was to installed the Custom ROM("ICS_DARK_BREED_V_A818_by_BassureroX") which I have downloaded on my SD Card then reboot my phone again and then its not working anymore I mean it's stack in bootloop which my friend says that's what happened to my phone, I regret on what I have done I really need to recover my phone back to normal again please help me.
Is there any thing I can do? I hope there's still a solution for my phone problem.
Thank You.

Use paragraph, your post is very difficult to read.
Now, regarding your problem, try to wipe /system, /data and /cache from recovery, flash the rom and wipe /data and /cache again.

I meant the app didn't show the paragraphs in your post. Anyway, the only way to boot a turned off phone in recovery is by a key combo, generally POWER + VOL+ or POWER + VOL-, depending on the model

*Here is a short explanation for what really happened:
I have an android phone(Rooted & ROM Manager installed).
I used MTK Droidtools for backups, rebooted and autoCWM was created.
I Wiped Data/Factory Reset then Install the Custom ROM from SD Card, when finished i rebooted my phone then its not working anymore.
But i can charge it and i can also enter to autoCWM when pressing Power Button+Camera Button+Volume Up Button.
is there anything i can do?

Yes, if you can boot into recovery mode then you can try flashing another rom for your phone, maybe checking the integrity of the file before flashing it

I had a look on the net, and I could not find any stock nor custom rom for your model. I think you flashed a rom for another model, and of course now the phone is obviously not booting.
If you can find a way to return to stock rom you're good to go, maybe looking on the website of the manifacturer, otherwise there is nothing much to do..
Keep in mind for the next time to double check what you're flashing, and to always backup first.

It works fine on SM-J500G too. But I have to flash the stock firmware after flashing twrp with odin on my rooted device. My device cannot boot into system, keep booting into twrp every time I reboot from twrp menu. After flashing stock firmware and and re-flash twrp, my device can now boot into system when I choose reboot from twrp menu. Thanks for the twrp tar file.

Sadly I really don't know what could cause the issue. My best guess is the boot.img . Once I am at home I will send you some instructions how to flash the boot.img
OK instructions.
To flash bootimg download the stock Rom from sammobile. Then open the ZIP. Next open the ZIP inside the ZIP by removing .md5 . then take out the boot.img. once you enter twrp flash the Boot.IMG.with the flash IMG option

Hello. I know that this post is off topic, but this is the only "popular" thread for this phone and it doesn't have it's own forum yet.
@CTXz : I hope you won't get mad on me for mentioning you Maybe you can answer me about what I wrote below.
I got Samsung Galaxy J5 SM-J600FN yesterday. It is a nice phone for 200euros... But I experienced a problem. When I put a call in speaker mode, the person with who I'm talking won't hear me after few seconds and when I switch back to normal mode (speaker off) he can hear me. Now it started to happen in normal calls too. I did put network in 2G to consume less MB, I don't know if this might be a problem.
Anybody else experienced this? I'm wonder if it is a hardware issue or software issue.
Also, the volume buttons and power button is moving lil bit in left-right, I don't know if is a problem at all because are working. So, people who has this device, please let me know if buttons are same to you and if you experienced that call problem.
Thank you! Have a nice day! Robert.
PS: I'm sorry if my English is bad

Hey no i'm not mad
The calling issue is most likely software. It's also quite common. Try to wipe cache. If the problem presists you can make a twrp backup and install the stock rom again. Then restore the backup data etc.
The buttons are totally fine. All my Samsung phones/tablets have that. Why? Dunno.

Gonna wipe the cache now.
About buttons, you gave me that peace of kind by saying that I was worried that could get break soon or that I got a device with problems. At my previous phone named Galaxy S Advance the buttons were moving too but less and I have used it for 2+ years, I never checked buttons before tho.
I won't install other stock Rom yet until I'm sure that I won't break that Knox. I'm new to this Knox protection and I haven't read much about it. I already miss so many root apps from previous phone
May I ask you in how much time does charge your J5? Mine charged in 4-5 hours when it was powered off, I did this two times and now I think i won't repeat it again.
Thank you alot for your answer.
If you reflash stock it wont break stock. But if you flash twrp it will
