[GSM] R800i 4.0.2.A.0.84 Vodafone DE (1247-8566) - Xperia Play Android Development

So, here is the .84 firmware with -86 baseband for the GSM Xperia Play.
From what I see, there are a few firmware changes since .79 firmware and a baseband update. Also, some applications like the Browser and the Phonebook seem to have some changes.
Download: R800i_4.0.2.A.0.84_Vodafone_DE_(1247-8566).ftf
How to Root:
1 - Download All 3 files from this Repository: .84 Firmware Rook Kit
2 - Flash R800i_.79_Kernel.ftf using Flashtools
3 - Root Phone using Eroot1.3.5.exe Tool
4 - Flash R800i_.84_Kernel.ftf using Flashtools
4 - Enjoy your .84 Rooted Firmware!
Thank you all!

Method 2 ) its working, but you must change kernel from stock to--> (Lupus, doomkernel)

I could not root my 800at phone with this firmware. I am on a locked bootloader/stock kernel. ive used 2 programs to root.

try to flash .79 kernel, then root, then flash .84 kernel again, it might work.

Added Root Method to first post!

I found i file call rootxperia.zip, flashed it nthrough cwm and it worked
However, i got my flex cable mal functioned, so im saying goodbye to xpkay soon since in my place there is no way to fix it

Leave your phone unplugged from the computer when you ask SEUS to search for an update. Since it won't recognise the phone it won't find any updates and assume your phone it broken, so it will give you a repair link.

This is stock firmware for the E10i for flashtool, move it to the firmwares folder and flash it like you would flash a kernel.
It's 2.1.1.A.0.6, baseband *4015, with a loader.sin for unlocked bootloader.
Let me know if your phone works after flashing this.

Don't know, I think you did something wrong somewhere, but glad it helped.
On the ICS kernel, only flash ICS-roms that state they need that kernel.
If you want Gingerbread, flash the nAa-GB kernel.

Yes, I installed drivers, when I go to import device it just says that there's no device to import.
Also, after trying one more time, when I press the confirm button (step 5 of the tutorial) it says that an error ocorred (it says something about memory and to try again),

For this you will need Flashtool and Xperia drivers intalled on your PC. (Installing Sony PC companion will do)
Well, what you need to do is download the kernel of previous version. I have attached a file but I am not sure if its the old version. (.10)
Flash FTF of your desired STOCK rom ICS via Flashtool.
Flash kernel of any version before 6.1.1.b.1.54 .
Root it using the file attached.
And you are done!
Make sure the USB tethering is ON in Settings >development !
I have attached the files on page 11 on this post:

NO, but don't worry.
Is your bootloader unlocked?
if not, this must be the reason.
if ýou have unlocked bootloader then,
Flash kernel again and root it using .10.
I am thinking you must have disconnected the phone in the middle.
Were you on administration when you tried to flash it ?
You must give administration rights to run the programme.
Were the drivers properly installed ?
A screen came and said to restore and then you didnot disconnect your phone till the programme asked you to ?
Have you followed instructions properly ?
IF all this doesnot work, Flash FTF of ICS of any ICS you like . Root it again !
I have rooted my phone so many times with the file i sent !
And you are using the option 1 when it asks you to root. You are rooting a mobile and not a tablet.
If anything you need to ask, I be writing you back!

As I suspected, your phone has come with locked bootloader. This means that Sony will not support your phone to be unlocked. The reason simply is they do not want to give out cheap phones so you can use any other sim on your phone. However, you can only run roms which support locked bootloader and you can not experiment much with your phone as it will brick your device. There are quite few roms which support locked bootloader. Further, the tutorial is simply from Sony and thus will not work for your phone!

OK, one last thing, I found this rom (it says that works with locked bootloader): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=194647
But in the instructions it says to flash it via CWM (I know that it's a custom recovery), I searched and the tutorials I found either ask for root or unlocked bootloader.
The text file attached in OP doesn't help much as I am not able to know which FW are you using.
I assume that the FW is greater than B.1.10 which Is why u are facing problems while rooting as the FW used in the guide in OP is B.1.10.
FYI, B.1.10 was directly rootable without much hassle just by following the guide but if you have a C.1.0 / B.1.89 / B.1.100 Stock Rom on your device then you will have to do some extra steps

On my phone it says, Build Number: 6.1.1.B.1.54
Here's the Rooting Process for you.
This Rooting guide applies to all FW versions above B.1.10.
1) Open Flashtool.
2) Click the Flash icon.
3) Select Flash Mode. (Make sure USB Debugging is ON in your Mobile Settings before connecting to PC)
4) Select & Flash the B.1.10 kernel. Then Reboot.
5) Select the Un-Lock icon and choose your preferred SU app & proceed.
6) Follow the on-screen instructions.
7) Now you have rooted your device.
8) Flash B.1.54 kernel and let the device reboot.

You don't need to unlock your bootloader in case of flashing stock kernels.
Unlocking bootloader is necessary to flash custom built kernels.

[Q] Need help to recover from endless loops

Hi guys,
I'm using Xperia sola rooted phone with 4.0 and I was installing metamorph - lock theme and the phone restarted and it is going in an endless loop of resarts.
It's possible to put the phone completely off by using power & volume key combo, also i can put the device under flashboot and fastboot mode.
Kindly tell me a way outta this !!
I won't be getting a cell phone for another year I guess

CWM isnt installed on my xperia sola sadly
This is the theme file : "droidpirate.com/2011/09/14/metamorph-droid-bionic-lock-slider-bionic/"
prior to this, an app named metamorph was installed.
I can put the device in flashboot/fastboot though!
Any chances that I can recover the phone?

If you bootloader is unlocked you can try flash a kernel with CWM that support adb.
If not, do you have the FTF file for the firmware that is currently installed?
I would try at first flashing system.sin only from the firmware FTF, no wipes everything else expluded.
You will lose root and other modes copied directly to /system but you should have data intact.

Yeah I do have these two files in my flashtool firmware folder which I used :

For root didn't you just had to install kernel .10 over .54 firmware no?
Anyway the system from the one that is flashed now you the only one that knows which, I am guessing .54

How are you trying to get into recovery?
What does the LED do while you boot the ZU?
I would just flash jackie099's kernel and restore the backup from there - I cant see how flashtool would be failing except for a problem on the PC

If its so hard for you, i suggest to flash 757 ftf and begin from scratch...its not so hard to do it all over again...after you get recovery, just restore your backup...

yes master...
i cant get into recovery, i used to get no problem at all flashing kernels or down/upgrading ftf to it...
but right now i'm stuck with this kernel wich theres no recovery at all, no light no recovery...:crying:
i've tried to reflash kernels many times but failed...
the worse part that i got is that it has no signal at all...:crying:
if i flash it with any new ftf (down/upgrade), the kernel should be replace by the list on ftf package right...
but not mine...
Stucks... (3.4 bla bla)
how could i recover my ZU if i cant flash the kernel...:crying:

Download this: https://mega.co.nz/#!Vh8xEZYR!HwGosI...VlhUObM0NdNrPg
Make sure your phone is turned off.
Start Flashtool and click the lightening bolt at the top left and select 'FASTBOOT MODE'.
You should now see a new window of flashtool titled FASTBOOT TOOLBOX.
Plug in your phone while holding the Volume Up button
Back on flashtool: To the far right where it says 'By DOOMLORD', just below that the second option is 'Select Kernel to Flash', click it.
Browse for the .IMG file that you downloaded from the top of this post(which is the boot file for your phone to boot and let you into recovery).
Change the file type that's listed next to File Name at the bottom of the browse window, to .IMG
Select the .img file and it should flash automatically and tell you to check the log list shown right in flashtool before rebooting. If you don't see any errors then go ahead and unplug your device and boot it and try going into recovery.
You should be good to go now.

I think we need to see a log or screen grab of the output of flashtool when you try and flash a kernel and a FTF
I think "invalid argument" normally happens on a locked bootloader???

[UPDATED 3.10.2015.]How to root Xperia E4g with newest firmware (25.0.A.2.31)

Hi everybody,
today I'm going to teach you how to root Xperia E4g on newest firmware._________________________________________________
PROOF : http://postimg.org/image/mvua3tyyx/
0. Video tutorial (if you prefer it over textual)
1. Firmware DowngradeCheck your firmware version, if it is 25.0.A.2.14 you are going to have to downgrade it to x.x.x.1.28.
You are going to download Flashtool and download 1.28 firmware using XperiFirm that is build-in into flashtool and then you are going to flash it. If you need help here is Youtube Video :
2. Rooting
You are going to use iRoot to root your firmware. Do not update your firmware until I say to!
Link to iRoot : http://irootdownload.com/ ->download PC Version
3. Getting rid of Kinguser/Kingroot
Now go to Play Store and download app called Super-SuMe. Follow the instructions the app says and update SuperSu binaries if needed.
Reboot after that. Or since of August 2015 the app is paid and you can follow this video :
4. Preparing for software update
Now go to SuperSu->Settings and untick "Enable Superuser"
5. Update
Now is the time to update. Go to Sony Update Center app and download the update and wait for it to install.
There will be 2 available updates. When first is done dont enable Superuser, just install the second one and after that is done go to step 6
6. Getting root after update.
Once it is done, open SuperSu->Settings and tick Enable Superuser and reboot.
There you go. That's it.
Video on the way

I had this exact same issue when rooting my wife's E3, yet the binaries updated fine on my E3! I never did manage to resolve the problem despite trying an array of suggestions courtesy of Google! Sorry I'm not really much help...!
I swapped my E3 for the E4g recently after it developed a microphone fault, and was about to try the OP's method to root it when I saw your post. I think I'll hang on a little while though to see how things go for you....
Have others had success with this method?

My SuperSu never asked for Binary update
But the binary update itself should have worked.
I think you could do a complete video guide with downgrading firmware and all the stuff... Because as I see from posts some people have problem with binary update. Also it would be a great guide to new comers. Thanks!
P.S. "Super-Sume" is only paid app now but the price is really ridiculously low. :>
I tried downgrading but it just keeps giving me the error "Processing of loader.sin finished with errors", please help!

Try checking wipe data and cache while choosing the firmware or try other firmware.
I recommend Customized Europe 5 cause it doesn't give errors with SuperSu binaries
