noob question, can't believe I'm asking this... - Samsung Gear Fit

For the life of me I can't find "app connect" anywhere on the Fit (has the NE5 firmware, Kies says it's the latest one) or the manager app on my wife's new S5 active. Where is app connect so that I can enable Strava?
edit: I installed gear fit flashlight as a test and "app connect" appeared instantly and also works just fine. For some reason Strava never shows up in app connect. Uninstalled/reinstalled strava multiple times, restarted both devices too.

According to the strava website, the update version 4.1.7 removed support for the Fit. They claim it was causing issues with the app. You may have to try and fingers an older version of the app.

Try endomondo. Works well

[Q] Android market not installing apps

Hi,
I am facing a strange issue witg my android market app on samsung galaxy tab 10.1.
I have 4 applications in the not installed list.
I choose install for all 4 and give permissiin to install, the applications are not installing, they keep showing up in the not installed list.
What could be the issue.
The problem does not go away even after reboot.
Srikant
Sometimes i find that i have to try and install the app twice before it actually starts to download and install.

Try signing into Google Talk and then go back into the Market. I'm not positive about Honeycomb, but previous versions of Android have used Google Talk as a type of authenticator that the device is registered to a specific user.
I've had this problem as well, sometimes dis/re-connecting to wifi works.
Check your app drawer, they are probably installed. I've been having this problem too. They show up as not installed in the market, yet I'm using them. Use the market report form, and tell them what's happening. I did and they asked for more deets and screenshots.
What I've noticed: If you check the box to add a shortcut, it doesn't happen
If you click the app that says it's not installed, it will show buttons to install and uninstall. Tap install and the list updates, even though the thing was definitely installed before. It has only happened with paid apps, but that may be a coincidence.
Again, report this stuff so they can address it.

[Q] Problems with Android Market

Using Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Android market if I try to install any app, it works like this:
10% of the time the app is installed immediately.
10% of the time the app is installed after 2-5 minutes
80% of the time the app is not installed at all, but the "waiting to install" message is just displayed for eternity. But if I go to the My apps page I can see the app I'm trying to install in the "not installed" section. If I select it there and click on install, it's installled immediately. So all in all I'm just hitting download and then go immediately to my apps not installed section to install it from there without any further delays.
This cannot be by design! Please help. All the relevant ports the Market App uses are open and forwarded in the router to the galaxy tab.
market update stopped working, have 28 updates queued

Exactly the same problem on my GT 10.1, the message "Waiting to install" hangs forever way too often when I try to install an app.
Didn't know about the trick with "Not installed", thanks for that.
What market version are you running? I had persistent issues after installing 3.20
I have the same issue
I'm using 1.0.28, the official latest version for the Galaxy Tab 10.1.
Use "old market" to revert to pre 3.2 market. But 3.3 works fine for me... s

may be due to slowness in internet. try with high speed internet.
It's on a 32Mbit cable line. Downloading with the Android Browser gives 4 MBytes / second.
I also have this problem! I keep getting disconnected from google talk too. I wonder if these problems are related, since I've heard they both use the same connection to google's servers.
Just to add to the general mess here ... I'm also having the same issue.
Only after restard (sometimes after wifi reset) am I able to download.
I think I've fixed the problem. My mother's google account was associated with a hotmail address. After making a gmail address (from the same google account), she seems to not get disconnected from google talk anymore (after using it to log in) . If your google account doesn't use gmail, try making a gmail address and login with that!
I've had this problem since I got the tab (about 4 months ago) and of course it's had various updates since, none of them fixing the market issue. All I do is cancel the download and try again. this can take several attempts but eventually it works.

Apps not installing to watch

I am currently using a Samsung S3 with Scott's latest ROM. Anytime I download a gear app, in this case watch styler for Gear S from Samsung app store, it installs on my phone, loads... then crashes displaying " Failed to install app." It seems like the phone is unable to "push the app install" to the watch. Any Samsung approved app Engadget, timer, opera installs fine.
Any ideas?

Try Try again these apps for Gear S are hit and miss. Uninstall the app from phone settings manager and try to install it again until it shows up under gear manager

Turns out Scotts Cleanrom 8.2 isn't compatible with Gear manger. I installed AllianceRom 4.3 - Build 23 and successfully installed watch styler!

App updates fail to install - "connection with device is lost" [SOLVED]

I was having issues updating some apps within the Gear Apps Store, the error message "Gear app not installed connection to device is lost" even though there was a working Bluetooth connection and everything was functioning normally.
I tried:
Rebooting both the watch and the phone
Checking and trying various comms settings
Deleting cache and data for the Gear App Store
Re-installing the Gear App Store itself
After a lot of head scratching I was resigning myself to perform a factory reset of the Gear S.
I got it to work by simply uninstalling the app that needed the update, (in my case it was one of the clocks) and then re-installing it. All now working as it should!
The error message is completely misleading and it will get you believing it's a connection issue which it clearly isn't.
I thought I would share this with you in case you came across this problem.

Cannot find the apps

I have the same issue, but cannot find the apps to uninstall. I have about 6 apps that are "stuck". I can get some to update, but then they show up again as needing updating.

The reappearing updates is a common problem and I haven't been able to solve that one (though it hasn't happened in a while) but it's strange you cannot find the offending apps to uninstall. I assume you are using the same watch model, as not all apps and clocks work with all Gear models and you are in the Gear app store not the Samsung app store? Also check for the app in "your purchases" section as again not all apps will show in the store but purchased ones (including the free ones you installed there) will show in your purchased section.
The only other thing you can try is a factory reset of the watch and install all your purchases from scratch.

[Q] Nokia Here Map not shown

Yesterday, I had to format and reinstall my Gear S
now Nokia Here app doesn't show any maps. (on the Gear S)
Phone app (Here) , has the map shown.
How can I get back the maps on Gear S ?
I reset my gear about 2 weeks ago and here is working normally for me. Try Uninstalled and reinstall. Or is that a gear s system app?
yes it is a system app.
even if I reset my gear S, it doesn't sync the map.
that is sooo bad.
Did you Uninstall it and reinstall it from your phone also? Here requires a phone with the app installed on there also or it won't work. The watch version is just a companion app
I have treied everything. I have contacted Nokia Here support several times. They keep saying the same thing. "try downloading offline maps"
The watch doesn't do that . Here app on the watch thinks it is offline even though it is not offline.
after you clear cache and delete app... try searching for HERE app in gear manager store and re-install. that was my idea. also the app appears in Google play store... so you can re install it from there.

there is no place to delete this app as far as I see. not possible on Gear Manager, not on the Gear S itself.
This is a preinstalled app and the software does not provide a way to delete it.
If there is a way, please let me know...
On Google Play store , there is only the phone app, not the Gear S app..
I have the solution
To be able to download maps on to your Gear S you have to do as follows:
1. sim card inserted and active(always active)
2. wifi activated and connected to a router
3. very important Gear disconected from phone.
Only then option Download offline maps become active and gives you the possibility to download any map avaliable on your Gear S.
Hope I was helpful to someone, I did this with my Gear S and only this way works!
