Consumer wireless variant - Huawei Ascend Mate 2

Hey has any seen the consumer wireless variant? I actually bought it from my target. It sales for 250. Going to post a few pics in a sec. I meant consumer cellular as the carrier not wireless lol

MT2-l03 but it was carrier locked. Had to get an unlock code.

Who did you get the unlock code from?

That's really cool that another big retailer is selling the HAM2. Especially if there is an easy way to carrier unlock.

How did you carrier unlock it, through Huawei, Consumers cellular, 3rd party? Curious to know how much hassle it was?

I actually used an app called imei unlock in the play store. It was 12 dollars. I am the cell phone rep in my store so I was real curious on the device. It is technically att based so I would think an att or net 10 sim would work without unlocking.

Yea u was thinking the same. Came out of nowhere to.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll pick one up for my wife. I am using straight talk/att Sim. It surprised me that I can use the hot-spot tether feature on this phone. Any other time I tried it with other phones with the stock tethering and not rooted without jumping through a bunch of hoops it wouldn't work. But it worked right out of the box. Don't think I'll use it much but it's nice to know it works.

What's weird is I noticed the Hotspot feature was missing in my phone. Like not in the settings at all. I don't mind since I have 2 phones on me but still weird.

Exactly, I carry mine in the same pocket in my cargo pants I carried my Nexus 7. Much more pocket friendly. With the Consumer Cellular version not adding in the additional costs of the Net/10 package Huawei adds in and charges for, it's an even better deal. My wife will love the more compact size and retire her aging tablet she travels with.

That is weird. I wonder if it has different firmware. Maybe you could flash my stock twerp backup and it would add the hotspot?

I was thinking about that actually. Everything else was the same. Also came with some bloat as well. Besides making a back up, would I need to do anything special before trying your back up?

Back up what you have just in case. I've never flashed from one phones backup to another but I assume if the hardware is exactly the same it should work. And it wouldn't effects your EMEI? That should be in a different partition? But we would need to get confirmation on that. Is your bootloader unlocked?

How about your version number.
I can't find any esf partition files so I'm guessing it must be in a chip, the IMEI and serial number that is. I just don't want to create a clone. I uploaded the TWRP file to my drive account. Do you want to try it?

[Q] Roms for different LG G2 models?

When ppl start making new Roms for this phone are they gonna be for different models like
LG G2 F320S
LG G2 D802
LG G2 D802TA
LG G2 D803
and so on..
Or is it gonna be universal?
like in galaxy note 2 there was 3g roms(GT-i7100) and a 4g roms(GT-i7105).
Of course the difference here on G2 lies on battery, sd card and tv antena from what i know.
Im asking because i want to make sure im buying the most modded model.
Thanks.

initially the US versions will have the most happening for them, as they were released first (except for the korean ones, but as they are rare on here less will be done for them) later on it will be the International version for sure, as it will be outselling any other variant.
But all in all the major ROMS will probably support all, unless some are very tricky to support

Nexus 5 or LG G2?

Hello,
Looking to upgrade my Huawei Ascend P1 come September (A while away I'm aware but I'm pricing around now) and the only devices that have caught my eye are the Nexus, LG G2 and the iPhone 5s. I'm disregarding the iPhone though as out of the 3 devices I'd much prefer Android.
Basically, price won't be an issue as I'll be getting it on contract (They're both £32 a month on Three for the plan I want so it's fine) but I genuinely can't decide between them.
The two devices seem pretty much the same except the LG G2 has a better camera and larger capacity battery so I'm stumped. Any idea which one is better as an all rounder?
ALTERNATIVELY, if anyone has a recommendation of another device feel free to let me know!
Cheers
Nexus 5 for price, LG G2 for performance...
There are many new phones also coming out by September.
Huawei P7
Galaxy S5
LG G2 pro
LG G3
Xaomi Mi3

Which V10 model to buy?

I have the choice between F600 S/K/L, H962 and H961 models.
Which one would probably have the most chances of active ROM development in the future?
Thanks

Man, I miss my GPro. It seemed like crap dev-wise back then but it received some pretty decent support.
I only miss root so I can activate all LTE bands, other than that I am happy
Before, with Samsung Galaxy up to S5, I hated standard, not customizable at all, LG allows most things I like :good:

G4 = more problems

It may be just me but it seems like there have been many more flashing problems with the G4 vs previous Moto G models. This is my 4th different Moto phone and I've helped develop roms and flashed the G2 and G3 hundreds of times without worrying at all about bricking the phone. With this phone it seems like there is a much higher percentage of flashing problems compared to previous models. The only thing I can think of is the Amazon model has really been the major culprit causing most if the problems.
Sent using XDA-Developers Mobile App
Yes the amazon version is unlockable, and that is what is causing all the problems.
Perhaps it's Lenovo that's making it harder to flash. I read Lenovo cut support for old Moto devices and announced limited/no support for newer Moto devices.

I think we're a little more lucky in the US because I've noticed that we seem to have better support. Of course there are probably a lot less units sold in the US than other countries.
Wait you can unlock the bootloader on the Amazon model? I spent the extra 50$ and bought the retail model just so I could install twrp

For the first week or so you could, but amazon saw people using that to get rid of ads, so they had unlocking the bootloader blocked.

Upgrade from G6 to V30? $700 credit from LG G4 bootloop class action

So it appears that I am eligible to receive either $425 cash or $700 credit towards an LG smartphone. My LG G4 previously bootlooped of course. Which option is recommended?
1. Keep unlocked LG G6 and get $425 cash.
2. Use $700 credit to get unlocked LG V30 ($675 at bhphoto) and sell LG G6.
It seems like the V30 is an upgrade across the board. Except maybe the screen, I am not sure how the oled compares to the LCD on the G6. Also, it is interesting that the average review score on this site is lower for the V30 vs the G6.

Not sure what you want to start. The V30 is clearly superior to the G6. (You are even posting from V30.)
That's what the op really wanted to know -- which is better? The G6 was basically a prototype for the V30. But had incomplete specs and 2016 Snapdragon.
If there was a problem with the display I wouldn't own three V30/V30+, is my point and I will make that point every time it's relevant to the discussion.
I find it funny you think I shouldn't mention that, when months ago I was waiting for the open market US998 to be released and some members seemed to find ways to mention I didn't even own this phone yet. (Yet, I knew all about it.) Well, I own three now and two of them will soon be bootloader unlocked and rooted... Hopefully soon all three if LG adds the V30+ to the list.

Let me make this elementary for you:
I never responded to OP. I responded to another.
I never said anything about the V30's display.
Then, here you come, riding in your white horse that has the staggers and blind in one eye not seeing the picture clearly, and defending the V30 unnecessarily.
Here again, you tell us you own three V30's. I guess that means you know three times as much as the rest of us.
Guess what, we own the V30, too. OMG, imagine that.
Now back the **** down and stop being an ass like you often do to people.

Even if that's true - I find myself skeptical - OLED has better response times and should be more efficient unless the brightness is constantly at 100% and displaying light colors. With auto-brightness allowed to do its thing, I'd bet on OLED.
---
I'd say use the credit and get the OM V30. Consider:
The V30 is more or less current hardware
The V30's screen-on time reportedly varies between "adequate" and "amazes even Samsung shills"
You're straight up "getting" $250 more off the lawsuit result by buying it from B&H
You can turn around and sell your g6 for an additional $200+, half of what you'd get if you just took the cash anyway
The only potential problem you face is getting a display panel with less-than-ideal uniformity at low brightnesses... not sure if B&H will exchange it if it bothers you, and LG refuses to cover it under warranty. Blatant defects (lines/bands/dead LEDs/etc) shouldn't be an issue, though.
Unless you really love your g6, or are hard-pressed for the immediate cash payout, the choice seems pretty obvious to me.

It's my least favorite phone out of the 4 I currently have.

v30 has too many problems. i would have returned mine but i dropped it and scratched the side. the software on this phone seems underdeveloped. weird crashes for no reason in apps like netflix. i also have the blotchy blacks on the OLED. i can live with it, but would not choose it again. if you like your g6, hang onto it.

G6 specs are not as good as the LG V30. The V30 is what the G6 should have been.
Next gen Snapdragon (not 2016 Snapdragon in a 2017 phone), Qi wireless charging (for all variants), quad DAC (for all variants), at least 64GB storage (for all variants).
