Attn ALL VERIZON users - Verizon LG G3

I called Verizon and said I was looking at switching because ATT had the double the Data deal going and I was tired of paying for less. I buy the 10mb plan, had service for 13 months. They have me a customer loyalty plan which gives me 16mb of data for the same price I was paying for my 10. Just letting you know. If this is public knowledge , sorry for saying your time

They also are not throttling unlimited LTE users anymore and doubled the 20GB plans and higher. I called today and got bumped to 40GB.
Not happy that they cut back on throttling but at 40GB, that's more then I'll need since them most I have ever used was 18GB and about 8GB with my other lines. I cut back for a little while but it looks like I can use more again.

What kind of plan are you on? Contract, Edge, Family?

I just called. They told me since I was on 10GB I couldn't get double data (AT&T doesn't offer double data on 10GB either) but that I could upgrade to the 12GB plan and get an addition 3GB for a total of 15GB.

Bill used to be ~$180 for 2 lines, 4-6Gb shared (depending how much music I streamed). I called to cancel, told 'em I was lookin' at T-Mobile. They knocked my payments down to $107 for 12 months and $140 for the next 12. I's happy. :cyclops:
EDIT: They also cut me a deal on cancelling my Jetpack.

We have two LG G3's 10GB Data Everything Plan 113 + Tax a month with my employer discount. No Contract...
I have not been in a contract since the HTC T-Bolt. LOL
Bought the LG's outright (350 Each NIB) and they gave me the Edge discount per line.
Also got two Free LG G3 Battery and Battery Charging Cradles on there way.
Not Bad.

tl;dr everyone on a tiered data plan is getting gouged. It costs Verizon next to nothing to transmit the data (not sure of the exact cost). The minute they force us off unlimited data is the minute I leave for good! Hopefully what worked for OP works for everyone else as well!

I lost unlimited data and do not regret it one bit. I was paying $360ish for 4 lines. I had unlimited and the others had 2GB and in total we use about 24GB so I had to connect to WiFi a bit more when I'm at home. I went with the 20GB plan and since using WiFi, I'm down to a total of 16ish GB. Now I'm paying $300ish.
Well now they doubled bit I still use WiFi at home for better reception and I'm still hovering around the 18GB. Yes I lost unlimited but just because I had unlimited didn't mean i was using it a lot. I'm at 40GB and that's double more then what I have and I don't go near it at all. Even with tethering. I'm also watching more Netflix and Amazon Prime and I can see myself going up to 30ish if I try but I stream music all day.

If your in the city, any really ... Chicago New York ect you got so many WiFi hotspots... I just recently moved into the city from the suburbs and in the suburbs having unlimited data was a godsend but here in the city don't really matter. I still do enjoy the fact that I have unlimited data for the purpose of sticking it to the man as they say
Verizon customer still got the grandfathered in unlimited data

For those worried about the tiered data plans (For new Verizon customers)

Verizon will be allowing customers who sign a new 2 year contract to a new 4G phone to up the 2GB plan to 4GB. This is only for new customers or customers already on a tiered plan. Those of us who already have unlimited will get to keep it.
This gets me even more excited. I am switching on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving so I hope I can still get this deal.
nice, thats a good selling point for this month, i just got the email from my boss. gonna start pushing that to try to get some new activations on 4g phones this month!
I still have the old unlimited plan and glad to hear we can keep it.

the new plans are still b.s. regardless of what "specials" they are offering. I left T-Mob & came over on the unlimited.. my wife is still on T-Mob(she wanted to finish the contract) & I was planning on bringing her to Verizon... but unless they allow me to keep the unlimited on her line also then they can f themselves and she'll just stick with T-Mob
Do people really use that much data? I have unlimited on AT&T and thinking of switching to Verizon for the Rezound or GN and getting the 4GB deal.
Even though I have unlimited I have never gone above 2GB so I know 4GB will be plenty (Besides AT&T will throttle you down between 4 and 5 gb on unlimited)

Yeah. Verizon throttles too but we have Throttle Removers. I think 4GB will be plenty for most people. I have unlimited, but I don't think I've ever used more than 2GB. Maybe that will change now that I have 4G...

on a slow month I do around 20 - 30GB. the most I believe was 82GB.
even if I only used like 1 - 2GB, it'd still be nice to have the piece of mind of not worrying about going over.

I do a lot of mp3 streaming(256kbps). why so high?.. I mostly listen while I'm driving(which is a lot) and as I've invested over $2,000 in my speakers, amps & subs.. I damn well want it to sound good & I play it loud.
I will often times also stream at home. Usually at night when I go to bed & I always fall asleep leaving it on some spacey/dreamy music & when I wake up it's still playing ;P
Additionally, I have HBO Go so will stream tv shows/movies to.
Oh, and lastly, I tether to my laptop and will use it for both online gaming as well as downloading purchases off of Steam.
Typical month I'll use around 10GB
Pandora streaming, or I'll download new mp3's on to my library, also youtube videos. At school when I'm in a place with no free wifi then I'll use it to tether.
I hope verizon opens the unlimited back up in a couple of years, I think for a while they were just concerned with having a really slow and sluggish network which is very possible if people actually utilize the unlimited plans. Of course this could just be another way for them to milk money, but more probably is anticipation of 4G usage and the infrastructure they have to build in order to support high speed and lots of data usage.

probably a good choice, still kind of blows that you missed the unlimited plans from verizon. who knows when they'll come back, the 4GB plans are supposed to only be for a limited time so they'll probably hit back to 2GB sometime after christmas.
AT&T is garbage, and if the deal falls through then they'll be even worse off- probably with higher rates and a poorer network considering they are giving away some of their bandwidth to t-mobile if it doesn't go through.

So youre saying that if I get the 4gb , it'll go to 2gb at some point? Im hoping it stays at 4gb.
Also, another thing that I use quite often is data/phone simultaneously. Not sure I'll be able to do this on verizon's 3g network.

no that's not what I'm saying. If you have 4G then you'll be locked into that plan the same as everyone else who has unlimited is locked into theirs.
I'm saying if you wait 4+ months to switch, they'll almost definitely stop offering the 4GB plans and go back to the crappy 2GB plans for the same price.

AT&T One Upgrade - Data 'Unlimited' vs. 3GB

Just about to pre-order a One, and I'm stuck on trying to understand what 'data unlimited' means as compared to the 3GB plan. I did get grandfathered to an unlimited plan when I transitioned to my Inspire, but in the past 2 years there hasn't been a single month where I exceeded 2GB. Wondering if y'all have any advice.
Keep your grandfathered unlimited data, NO reason not to.
I'm on Premier, but when I tried to order mine, the website wouldn't give me the correct price for the phone if I kept my current voice and data plan.
I went into a store, and during the process they told me the system said unlimited plans were not allowed with this device. They called to make sure I am able to keep the unlimited data. Whoever they called annotated my account saying I could keep it, but it has to be reapplied after I get the phone (as was the case the last couple of times I upgraded).

If I don't get throttled until after 3G, then what's to worry about? How much 'throttling' is there? How does one tell if the plan has been changed?

If I recall, LTE unlimited data plan cap is 5GB.
yep. If your on att, always keep your unlimited. Only way to lose it is if they accidentally upgrade your data plan to 3gb or whatever data, or move you to the mobile share plan.

You should be able to keep your data plan regardless of how you order, but as someone else mentioned, the "unlimited" data plan is only unlimited until you are throttled at the 3 gig mark (I do believe its 5 gig for LTE users), at which point you drop to 2G speeds (and let me tell you, 2G is not fun) for the remainder of your billing period. If the Premiere site isn't letting you keep the plan, then you should be able to call and place the same order over the phone with a rep, and the rep should be able to retain your data plan. Otherwise, if you remove the data plan, even accidentally, you cannot get it back, so be very careful about what you click.
AT&T changed the specifics of the "unlimited" plan a while ago without changing the actual name of the plan, to keep people happy. So the "unlimited" and "3GB" data plans are essentially similar now.
Im with O2 Uk
We have two phones through my wife's contract.
On my SGS II I had unlimited data. I never realized just how much I used it until a O2 rep called to "let us know" I had used about 6 gig of data that month. Wanted to know what it was on and that all was ok, LOL
Funnily 4 months before my upgrade they called again to say they will not be continuing the Unlimited option as they deemed 1-2 gig to be enough.
And trust me, you don't miss it till its gone! Im now watching every darn kb pass in fear of it running out, for me 1-2-3 GB is nothing.
The frustrating thing is, they wont offer me a plan with more than 2 gb a month??...
So Im now having to look in to getting a external Bluetooth sim thing (tbh, cant remember what they're called, which isn't helping me find the one im after.. )
I'm now jealous of a friend that has kept his unlimited plan for the past 5 or so years.... (was a special offer, bet they didn't see him keeping it this long lol) He's even forfeited his phone upgrades to keep the contract, smart guy.
My advice, Never give up your unlimited mobile internet.
Oh, and just before all you haters start hating, I don't tether and I don't torrent on my plan  , I do alot of streaming :good:

You clearly know nothing of the people in the US that run 90-150 gigs per month off of their unlimited LTE data plans.
I used to have unlimited when I had a BlackBerry years ago but when I switched to the Samsung Captivate I had to change the data plan and I lost it. I've had 2 a month ever since and I always have to monitor my data with 3g watchdog. Thinking about changing it to 3 GB when I pre-order the HTC one since it's only $5 more a month.

Didn't want to take a chance of loosing my grandfathered unlimited data plan so I went to a corporate store yesterday and placed the order there for upgrade of phone only. They also included the media link which was out of stock yesterday afternoon but was restocked later in the evening online.
Keep the unlimited. I use up a lot of data on Plex app and DirecTV alone.

Ok, so just to be sure I'm on the same page, when I upgraded, I selected the box which said this, and my current (post-upgrade) services show:
Data Unlimited SmartPhone Personal
Data Plan for SmartPhones. Unlimited domestic data usage. Only available for upgrades. Requires customers to be on a "Gold List" Data Unlimited SmartPhone Plan prior to upgrade to 4G device.
I presme that's the right one, yes?
I am in the same position. I have the unlimited plan and I'm thinking about getting the HTC One.
I will not give up my plan because I regularly go over 3gb. I received the text message threatening to throttle my speed after 3gb but never really noticed the difference after 3gb.
I remember when I was upgrading to the iphone 4 back in 2010 I had the choice of keeping unlimited data or drop to 2GB and save $5 a month. At the time I was not even close to 2gb so I dropped down to save some $$.
Fast forward to 2013.
I do about 6GB a month. Without even trying. LTE was a game changer.
I regret giving up my unlimited data.. They even raised the throttling to 5GB.
I ordered online but before doing so I talked to representatives. They told me if I ordered it but called them before activation they can make sure that you don't lose the unlimited data. I have backup in the form of a chat online with their representative just in case they try to not honor their word.

At&T throttle?
ATT has threatened to throttle my unlimited every month for the past year or two. I always get the same two messages and it never happens. At least not that I can tell. I'm sure they do throttle, but it's never actually happened to me. I run speedtest pretty regularly and Netflix never has any trouble.
Never let them take away your unlimited data. They will have to pry it from my cold dead hands.

ATT data special

I just switched from 4gb to 10gb data for a few dollars more. They have a special going on for the 10gb. $100 +15 each line. Att rocks
I live in a Major metropolitan area.
I pay 70 bucks a month for T-Mobile which is comparable to ATT here (Phoenix area which is big for T-MO).
I get unlimited everything with no throttling. Last month I used about 10GB w/o a hiccup (I may have been going ROM crazy and bypassing all the WIFI restrictions on downloads since I was at work...lol). ROM - LOAD - TEST FOR 2 DAYS - WIPE - NEW ROM - LOAD - REPEAT
T-MO wins.

Yeah, I've been debating on moving to this plan since it rolled out. I currently have the unlimited data plan, 700 minutes to share between two phones with a rollover bank of about 7000 minutes since we rarely use more than a hundred combined, and unlimited texts and mms. I've been hesitant to switch because, while we are generally under 10 gigs, I sometimes get a little data crazy and we reach between 12-15 gigs combined. Do you know what they charge for overages per gig? Also, I assume that includes unlimited calls and texts? TIA for your reply

Overages is $15 a gb if you go over. If you let them know before you go over you can change your plan to higher data for $10 a gig more. Just go with the 10gb. That should be sufficient enough for 2 people. My wife and i have it we are on separate accounts. Just got it today and im happy that i dont have to worry about going over. Plus if you both are on the same contract you save a lot.
I just went from the 4gb plan on FAM share with 2 phones total. Went on the site to see what its about under my account and it showed my contract was 4gb for 150. It showed I could change to 10gb for 130. I definitely don't use near 10 unless I'm away from WiFi and still don't use near 10 but better to be on the safe side. I read all the fine print and hoopla and I saw nothing of extra charges or drawbacks. Took the 10gb and as I see so far a cheaper bill and more gigs. I see win win.

Aw, I looked to see if I could upgrade my data plan on my ancient non-existent plan and nope. Ah well.
Eventually one of the newer plans might make more sense, but every time I've done the math in the past, it turns out to be more expensive.
This is the mobile share value plan. If you're out of contract or you have your own phone, you get the 15 dollar pricing instead of 40. Its nothing special tbh

my opinion.

Typical verizon, we don't care if our customers like our crap or are happy, as long as we have them by the gonads, we're happy.
If verizon cancels my unlimited it will void my contract and I will take my 3 lines and 140 dollar a month of business somewhere else.
The ONLY reason Verizon still has my business is for the unlimited plan. Loosing that, looses a customer. Their comstant locking down phones is frusterating.
I'm not on anyone's side just so you know unlimited plans make up less then 5% of their business and no one has LTE or even basic coverage like Verizon.

In my area of travel, ATT actually has the best coverage & LTE speeds. I am a Verizon customer & my signal is poor compared to my wife's on ATT.
If I loose my unlimited, I am gone to ATT. I can get better deal on 10gb plan.
That's great for you but for many it's not like that.

I get 15 gigs of data for 100$ I also got Verizon to give me 1 gig of data as a promo.
Iv only been with Verizon for about 2yrs.
I work from the Artic Ocean/North Slope of Alaska to South TX. Hands down Verizon rules where I'm at as stated 4G and basic. I had 10 go plan but jumped last month for 30 bucks more to the 30gb plan. For 130 I get 32gb (I also have an additional 2gb of promo) it's not unlimited but for current pricing and comparison to other companies it's the only way to go for me. I think it's like 225 or something crazy now if you want 30gb.
If you are on an unlimited plan and you use more than 30GB...my guess is that Verizon wouldn't mind you leaving their network! Some of you make it seem like Verizon needs your business. lol
Thank you for letting us know about this option. How does one go about getting it? I previously had Unlimited Data. I didn't want to pay the outrageous price at the time for a Note 3 outright from Ebay, Swappa, etc. So I dropped my Unlimited to 6GB. Not that I fully use 6GB anymore. Dropped Spotify once I dropped Unlimited Data. The 10GB would be a nice option.

Here is what I found out about this upgrade.
Me:Was there any truth behind the 10gb of data is the same cost as 6gb?
VZW: That is correct with our More Everything plans, that share within Unlimited talking and texting with a shared amount of data.

Yeah. my plan is 3g shared with 3 phones. We bend over for the man a lot with the bill... but I got tired of hopping around carriers. Besides the painful cavity search with my money, I'll stick with Verizon til AT&T owns them... like everything else.

Since I'm on month-to-month, if my unlimited disappears, I'll just throw a T-Mobile SIM into my phone and get my unlimited back.

Att can never own Verizon, a Verizon is 10x the size of att, they generate more revenue and fcc and ftc would never allow the merger it would create a monopoly also I represent att if anything they going under before Verizon

I see you got digs for all the other carriers. Problem is, people aren't going to continue to get raped with these prices. So, Verizon will keep losing customers until they get better prices and plans.
So, when I lose my unlimited I can either:
- Pay $80/mo. for 1 GB of data on Verizon
or
- Pay $80/mo. for UNLIMITED data on T-Mobile.
That's a no-brainer. I've been a loyal customer of Verizon for years and years. But when my unlimited comes to an end, so will my loyalty because these new plans and pricing are just flat-out garbage.
I'm not going to stay on the same carrier to pay alot more and get alot less. Never going to happen.

how much was lg g3 when it first came out?

thinking of waiting to buy the g4 but if the price is too high, then im not looking to wait like a month and a half hopeing the price drops.
does anybody know how much the lg g3 was when it first came out? specificly on verizon?
Figured it out.
It was 99$ for 2 year contract with verizon.
It was 199$ for 2 year contract with atnt, sprint, and T-Mobile.
Thanks me!

Full retail was $599 on Verizon. $99 doesn't sound right, are you sure that was when it was initially announced? High end phones are almost always $199 to start.

If you're with Verizon (which I assume since you are posting in here), tell them you want the 6gb Max Plan. It's $30 a month, giving you 6gb a month. It's for all users who upgrade and have to lose their unlimited data plan. That's what I did. I didn't know about it until the sales person I spoke with on the phone gave me that information. I stated I hated losing my unlimited plan and they said that there was a 6gb MAX Plan for people like me. It was still in effect and all you had to do was ask. Since I wasn't going to the share everything plan, it fit for me just fine.
Now, in my case, I ordered my g3 online ($39) but had it set for store pick up. The store couldn't do my 6gb plan, but all I had to do was once I got my phone, I just had to call back up on the phone and talk to a customer support person and they switched me right up. Took about 5 minutes and that was it. Very simple and I've been happy with it ever since. The G3 was worth it.
I don't go over the 6gb at all. I've come close, but I really haven't had to curb what I do online other than I don't constantly stream movies anymore unless I'm on wifi. Hasn't been much of an adjustment and I'm happy with what I've got.
So, that might be an option for you depending on how much data you use a month. If you never get near 6 gb at all (or only on a rare occasion), that might be the option for you.

I'm on a 450 minute, unlimited text, and unlimited data plan. I got in on a promo they were running which was $69.99/mo, but add in my employee discount and I only pay $64/mo after tax. I believe I lose this if I change plans. Even if I didn't, going from unlimited to 6GB is an awful plan, unless my bill was half the cost. I'd rather go with unlimited voice/text, and 20GB of data and use Cricket for $55/mo.
I got in on the upgrade glitch a year or so ago, so I am actually under contract until this October.

For me, I'm on an old plan that is unlimited text, 700 minute plan. It's old and out-dated as well, but I'm grandfathered in and had it before I even got a data plan. When I eventually did get a data plan, they still had unlimited data at $29.99/month.
For me, yeah not having unlimited down to 6gb seemed bad, but I rarely ever used 5 gb per month anyways, so it really wasn't a loss and I still have my same wireless plan. I'm still 700 minutes a month, unlimited text, but now 6gb/month data plan. Otherwise, I would have had to purchase the phone outright and I wasn't about to do that and my previous phone was on the fritz, so I had to have a new phone or I was out of a cell phone.
So for me, it was a no-brainer and still allowed em to not have to worry about going over my data limit. It was that or get 2gb/month for $30. $30 for 6gb seemed the better deal!
I still get my employee discount, but not on the data plan anymore (like I did with the unlimited), so yeah, my monthly bill went up about $4, but in the end, it was still fine by me.
It all depends on each person's perspective. Losing the unlimited was a bummer, but for me, the 6gb/month was just fine and I got a really good phone out of it for $30. So, I'm not complaining, but it all depends on each person's perspective. I was just throwing the 6gb MAX plan out there as not everyone knows about it. I didn't until they told me. Just wanted to give people some "potential" options for those sitting on the fence on whether or not to give up their unlimited data plan. My main factor was, no way in heck was I going to a 2gb/month plan but I was about to anyways as I had no choice in the matter. My wife wouldn't allow me to purchase a phone outright, even though in the end, it would end up being cheaper in the long run, but when she sees that $300+ upfront-cost for a phone, nope! Tried to explain to her, but she saw the $30 price tag on the upgrade so that's all she wrote on that! LOL!
But, once I found out about the 6gb/plan, that pushed me over the fence to go ahead and upgrade my phone to the LG G3. Not unhappy in the least.
I would say I believe the most I ever used in a month was 13gb. I think it's because I let my daughter watch some movies on my phone during a vacation trip. But that was it. Most of the time, it was less then 5 gb/month, if that. I'd say on average I used < 2gb/month.
So, going to 6gb/month wasn't any sort of loss in my mind. Still feel that way.

If that worked for you that's great, but with your loss of discount you are paying more for 6GB vs unlimited. When you factor in the cost of a phone which is ~$20-$25/mo., paying $15 more per month for unlimited data vs 6GB is a steal. Especially with how content heavy everything is now, higher quality streaming, 4K video, etc., your usage is only going to go up.

Since having it in December, I've been fine with the normal usage that I've always done. Never hit more than 3 gb/month, so for me, it works.
For me, this was a decision I'm fine with, but I'm sure others will have different opinions on it, which is fine. Again, like I said, it all depends on the perspective of each person. In my case, I had no choice. I had to upgrade because my other phone died and I need a cell phone for my family to contact me at any time, plus other personal reasons (not gaming - LOL).
So, to me, 6gb/month at $30 is the same as the $30/month I was paying for unlimited (well, $29/month), but in the end, it all worked out for me.
