[Q] ringer volume low OMFGB NAND touch pro2 - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Android General

Hi Everyone:
I'm running OMFGB NAND on Android 2.3.7, kernel 2.6.27, on a HTC Touch Pro2.
I'm very impressed with this build and it seems to have most of the features working on this phone with Android. So I'm pretty happy. I know there are a few newer versions of Android out there, but Gingerbread seems to be working very well.
The issue I'm having is a discrepancy between the ringer volume I've set under "sound options" and what actually happens when a call is received.
I've set the volume to 100% which is plenty loud.
When a call comes in it sounds like it's only at about 50%.
What troubleshooting steps should I take?
Are there any log files that would be helpful here?
Help me,help you, help me :silly:
Thanks guys!
James

Sound not working except in calls?

Hi guys, I've had my Hero about a year now. The other day, all of a sudden my speaker seemed to stop working. I thought, oh great, it's a hardware bust. I then tried a call and the sound came out fine. That is the only sound working. Everything works with my earphones plugged in. Any advice?
Any ideas guys, I'm pretty desperate here -_-
It could be something wrong with your media volume? I know when you plug in headphones there is a different volume setting? Try a sound volume manager like audio manager .. there is different
Does the problem replicate itself on different roms. etc.. also what rom are you using.
sorry, I know this is basic
Thankyou for the reply man .
Unfortunately I know it is not down to a volume problem because also the ringer volume does not make any sounds.
I am currently on an ancient Floyo ROM as I haven't been able to flash over the last few months. I'm currently waiting for a Froyo Sense with working camera or a reasonably stable GingerBread ROM.
Did you test a handsfree calling? Try making a call and enabling mobile speaker (there should be an option pressing menu button while you are calling).
HTC Hero, as many mobile phones, has two different speakers, one in the back used to play music and loud sounds, and another one on the front to make calls. I think your back speaker is not working and that's why you can't hear anything except voice when you call.

Thankyou, I did not know there were two different speakers, although I suppose it makes sense when you think about it!
Tried what you said and my back speaker is definitely knackered - may have just persuaded myself to get a Z >_>
cheers

[Q] Have The Developers Of The 2.2 Custom ROM Looked Into The Volume Problems?

As you know, in ANDROID 1.6 & 2.1 the in-call volume sucks, supposedly SE was going to fix it and release 2.1 with the fix, it never happened. AudioGuru shows something like the following:
Call volume: 5
Media: 15
(Don't remember what the others are called): 7
Media, as you can see is the loudest thing on the X10. So, have the developers of the custom ROM looked into fixing the volume issue, I assume this is just a matter of unlocking something in the ROM?
Not possible until the bootloader is hacked... This is old news
Can anyone confirm the Volume Hack app works on the internal speaker in-call volume? I've been wondering if it helps, but didn't want to pay to find out. Thanks in advance..

[Q] Permanent solution to too low In-call volume on headset

Hi,
I'm on Galaxy S2; Android 2.3.3; KE7.
When using headphones on my device the volume is great for music, videos, youtube, and even skype. However for some reason it's only around half of that level when calling (even tough the volume is set to maximum).
I've done some google research and found out that it's quite a common issue with this phone. A workaround has been found by using some codes. However, it is not a permanent solution.
I've found a post which says that someone had called Samsung and they acknowledged the issue and will send them a new phone where this issue has been fixed.
1) Has anyone found a permanent solution to increasing the volume of the call when on headset?
2) I've also found a post where someone says that apparently Samsung will fix this issue in Android 2.3.4. Can you confirm this? When will this be available? If it's longer than 1-2 weeks I will have to send my phone for a refund/exchange (although I love it).
Your advice on the above is much appreciated.
Hi, I've done some further research and I think I've found the solution:
First make sure that your sound is on (as you can't access the volume settings in the silent mode) -> press the Menu button -> Settings -> Sound -> Volume -> and then increase the 'Incoming call' volume.
I've just tested the call volume when on headset and it has been increased to a more that enough level. Great. My love to this phone is growing
Now I have to figure out how to disable the camera shutter sound....but that's a question for another post...
It seems that the solution above worked for some time but now my phone started to deliver very low call volume when on headphones. Maybe it's due to the Android update, I don't know.
However I found that the issue is related to the media volume. For example when I listen to music and turn the volume low then this affects the incoming call volume and it becomes low as well.
The solution to this problem seems to be: make sure that the music volume is max before you want to make a call. I've just tested it an is seems to do the trick.
It would be great to hear to another solutions to this problem for unrooted phones.
Heard this app works well,

In-call Microphone Vol Issue/running Slim ICS 2.8

I have had this problem with the mic volume, while in-call, i sounded too soft on the other line. Barely audible at times. The microphone records great in other apps, but audio gets distorted when capturing video (for example at a live concert), however it is the least of my concern. I used to run bionix 1.3.1 then ran cyanogenmod 7.1.0.1 and now im running Slim ICS 2.8.
I really want to resolve this issue, I have perused through countless threads and have found no solution. Could this be an issue with the kernel? I honestly have no clue what to do. Help me pls! thanks in advance.
I figured it out! So if anyone else has this issue I hope this may do the trick if its relevant.
Since DSP Manager is installed on my phone I figured the answer may lie in there. And.. it did! It was the tuned audio clock setting, it was 'checked' , even though it says it helps with the sound (which is why I linda ignored it before) but turning it off drastically changed my sound when in call. Now I can be Howard clearer. Hope if anyone has this issue it helps or possibly have a similar setting you can set off that says it "helps with the sound"

[Q] CM11 Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 No notifications sound

Dear All,
Hope you can help me with my bizarre issue with CM11.
I have no notification sounds (calls, sms, mms - none) playing when call or text arrives. The speaker works fine as the music plays. From there, it gets only weirder: I have no sound of "beep" when moving the volume slider, no sound of the screen lock or charger plug-in also.
What is interesting, when someone calls a very, very silent "beep, beep" is audible closely to the phone, similar to the one that usually informs about the second caller calling while you're already talking.
Vibrations also do not work.
I have tried other nightlies, it is the same (started on cm-11-20150614-NIGHTLY, tried the one dated 2015.07.06 and 2015.06.07 to no effect).
Tried to apply some caller application, no effect.
Unplugged notifications from other sounds volume at sound settings, no effect.
Tried uninstalling lately installed apps.
Tried changing the ringtones.
I really had zero issues with CM11 and find it a fantastic way to prolong the life of my sgs3, however this issue is annoying af. Could you kindly please share some insight on that, as the internet search does not help.
Also, this is my first post, lurking a lot, registered due to not finding answer anywhere, if I chose the wrong category do not go harsh on me guys
