[Q] LG G2 VS980 26A Bootloop installing Cyanogenmod Nightly - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an Lg G2 VS980 running ota 26A and I am trying to install the cyanogenmod 11 nightly. The only problem Is it keep bootlooping. I wipe the phone correctly and everything then install the zip. CWM (I have the latest version of Clockworkmod Touch) says the install was successful. I have tried everything to get this rom installed. I have done multiple wipes I have downloaded the latest nighties I've even tried installing a custom kernel alongside the rom, all the same result the phone would flash the LG logo on the screen turn off vibrate and repeat. Believe me when I say this I have tried everything to think of but still I won't boot to Cyanogenmod. I have rooted correctly using stumproot(It does work on the G2) and flashed CWM touch with flashify. I've followed the steps to flash perfectly still bootloop.
I need help with this I am tired of LG optimus ui and lg software and I really want to have Cyanogenmod on this phone. What Do I need to do to successfully flash this rom and use cm because at this point I have nothing.
So If anyone can help that would be GREATLY appreciated Ive lost count of times ive been bootlooped, and I really want cyanogenmod installed. If not CM then something like PA
Thanks again

Though I may have done something wrong but I don't know.

What did you use for a backup? TWRP via Autorec?

I used flashify for it

I see. Was trying to find a common element, but there goes that theory.
There appears to be a number of people having the same problem with VS98024a and VS98026a. No solution yet so far. At least I haven't found one yet.
To clarify you are running CWM not TWRP?
P.S.:
I might have found our problem. Maybe?
The CM 11 M7 snapshot is based on Android 4.4.2.
I have not seen M7 version for vs980...... Let me know if you find one.

I have the solution..... What the problem is is the newer bootstacks don't have an exploit... The Loki is killed.... So what you are going to want to do is downgrade your bootstack...12b is one that will run some of the older ROMs but 24a is what most are using to build off of.... if you need more direction then this let me know

The link I provided explains how to install CM on 26A. Did you not even bother to look at it?

[Q] LG Optimus G Shows up as MAKO

Hello there fellow members, I was wondering if any of you could give me a heads up on why is my OG appearing as a Mako device? it has prevented me from flashing custom radios which i need as i am experiencing problems with WIFI (it connects, but if i leave the wifi zone and come back it will not connect anymore until reboot) and the zip files requiere a GEEB product ID.
I havent flashed any nexus 4 ROMS, only had to do LGNPST once because of a brick with freegee, but i used the stock TOT file as i remember. Best Regards!

From what I read if basically any part of your phone is 4.2+ its marked Mako because the e970 and Nexus 4 share some of the same hardware specs. Not sure why it would prevent you from installing custom radios though. What recovery and modem zip are you using?
What recovery are you currently on , if possible also mention the ROM version.
Maybe recovery has something to do with it

Hello! Im using TWRP Recovery, i was using CWM before but had to change to TWRP to flash CM11. As for the Radio, its the stock JB radio, it did not gave any problems before, so i dont think thats the prob.
Also i have the same issue with diferent ROMS, so that might not be the way to go either. Current rom is last JB stock from ATT
You have given me an idea, i will roll back to CWM, to see if that solves the issue, as i recall the first time i began having the issue was when i changed to TWRP.
Thank you guys! I will post the results.:fingers-crossed:
It seems like that was the problem, switching back to phils CW lets me change wifi addresses and connect and reconnect normally. Still, the mako Id won't let me install custom radios, as it yields error 7 because of build prop I suppose, but it is all working normally now.
Thank you guys so much for your help and time!!!! Have a great weekend

Thinking of getting G3

Once I get it rooted and got recovery installed I should be able to use AOSP roms right? Thanks in advance.

Yes, you have to revert out to 10b via kdz method, root and install twrp, then you can install an aosp Rom
That being said, the 2/1 build of cm12 is one of the most stable right now from my experience. Smooth as butter. You can pm me if you need any advice

Perfect. I'm very excited to have a device that can run AOSP roms once again. I might try a few of the other roms along with CM12 to see which one I like.
I'm also assuming this method will let me use custom kernels too right?

[Q] Can someone catch me up to speed with T-Mobile s5

I used to root and flash like crazy on all my previous android phones. When I got my s5 last June, I just rooted it so I could use Ad Free and let it be.
Now I'm wanting to get it up to date on lollipop. Doesn't have to be the stock ROM, but close to it, maybe just slimmed down a bit if anything.
Can someone tell me, based on my version in the screenshot, what the procedure is at this point? I know when I used to be doing this all the time there were always new tools, recoveries, methods etc. that needed to be followed to avoid bricking or any problems so I don't want to just download the first lollipop ROM I see and flash it since it's been nearly a year since I rooted the phone and haven't done anything to it since. Thanks very much for any help.
EDIT: I should also mention when I boot to recovery it says it's Android System Recovery, so it appears I never had CWM or TWRP installed.

dont go lollipop its not worth it, im currently downloading kitkat firmware and i will downgrade as soon as i can
Use twisted lollipop v5
It's built off kitkat base but lollipop rom very cool stable and some tweaks . You do not have to be on official lollipop update to flash it .Just root flash twrp recovery for t-mobile s5 download rom and flash
It's in android dev section

Is the se for android permissive?
Whatever u do, don't go lollipop. It's full of annoying little problems. I rooted and I should have stopped there. Rooting doesn't affect Knox. I changed get the recovery to twrp and tripped Knox. Mind u, just to check out the roms. Decent roms but all the ones that have lollipop all have the same b.s. Errors lollipop comes with. Oh and u can downgrade incase u upgrade and don't like lollipop. It won't affect Knox.
?twisted v5 is good, I've been running it. I also flashed dob1 firmware.

[Q] TWRP for verizon G3

Good afternoon
I am on verizon and I just flashed back to KK from LP I am on 12B. I just Rooted with the LG one click root. I also downloaded Flashify.
I want to get TWRP for the G3, Where do I go to Get TWRP for verizon? There is the TWRP Manager app I downloaded but Uninstalled because it wanted fix a partition so it can write to the SD card. I said no then uninstalled it.
Should I redownload the App and let it fix or do something different? It has been awhile since I rooted and ROM'd want to get back into it.
the last time I rooted and Rom'd was in 2009 when I had my thunderbolt
thanks again for the information
Chris
You are fine with letting it do the fix. Be sure to get the vs985 version of twrp

Was looking at skydragon or Resurrection.. Choices Choices Choices

Latest TWRP is here (v2.8.6.1). Just flash the file in recovery.
Try both ROMs and a couple others, too! I suggest starting with a stock-based ROM, getting a feel for the difference (smaller delta), then moving to an AOSP/CM-based ROM.

Did you flash the gapps with the rom.? I'm guessing that is a lollipop rom so you need the lollipop gapps to go with. There should be a link for the gapps in the same thread as you got the rom.

Make sure that you wiped properly (including System and Data partitions, as well as the caches) in TWRP.
After that, make sure that you installed the Gapps and the correct version of them for the ROM. I like these packages.
Thank you all for the info, I wiped and flashed the rom with the right gapps.

Need to switch to jelly bean

Hey guys! I'm using a Galaxy Note with a Bell board (was originally AT&T but that bricked because at the time I thought flashing an N7000 ROM would work, D'oh!) and I want to upgrade to a Jelly Bean Rom. I'm using Blackstar XI, a 4.0.4 ROM, and I'm looking for a lightweight JB rom. It can lack stylus/pen support, I found myself not using that feature as much as I thought I would.
Would I run into any issues using a QuincyATT Cyanogenmod 10.1.3 ROM, considering it's a Bell note board? Would I need to unlock my SIM first? And I recall there being a trick with Notepad++ I needed to do in order to make it work, even on my AT&T board.
I just have an issue with heavy RAM usage at boot and I can't even run some apps, since I know touchwiz is stupid.
Anyone willing to help me get it running on my note? Any help would be appreciated!

If you like blackstar, I would just flash Blackstar Blackjelly after doing a backup. It's what I've been running as my go-to on my Telus note. The other jb's are great too, but cm comes with the odd small bug like echo on speaker phone. Most of the customizations make them worth trying though.

Sweet. I could give that a try if the Cyanogenmod ROM doesn't work. Is there anything I need to do in preparation, since this is technically a Bell note? Or can I just go ahead and flash the ROM without any changes to the ZIP?

I'm assuming you have an unlocked bootloader already since you are running cm. Just be sure to have latest cm recovery or gimmeitorilltell's twrp (although other versions work with Jellybean, if you try kitkat or lollipop you'll have problems). Make sure you are flashing a quincyatt rom.
I have been using SGH-I717ATT-UCMD3-Modem with great success for a radio. Your mileage may vary.
If you get no signal, before blaming the rom, first check your mobile networks access point names and settings to be sure they match your carrier. (A good idea is to take a couple screenshots of your settings now before you flash any new roms as there are quite a few numbers involved)

Good news! I tried the CM10.1.3 ROM and it worked well minus two small gripes:
1. Occasional freeze/hang on lock screen, causing it to reboot
2. Random artifacting/crashes during video playback/browsing through gallery
I'm gonna say this is the best performing ROM I've tried so far, but I'm going to give BlackJelly a try! I'll keep you posted. Just figured I'd give Cyanogenmod a proper shot now that I know how to install ROMs!

Time for BlackJelly! Downloading now.
I also may need some help getting the SIM to work once this ROM is on. So that way, I can use this stock-rom based OS for actual phone things instead of it just being a tiny tablet! Yay!
Can you point me in the direction of the latest TWRP recovery that I can flash through Odin?

Backup, backup, backup. If TWRP successfully installs then backup. If something goes wrong you can revert everything or just the boot partition. (Kernel)
