Judging from a leaked screenshot, that LG G2 Lollipop update shouldn't be far behind the G3 one, at least for the Korean models, which are obviously going to get the update first.

Pretty accurate.

You shouldn't count on that post at all. They're just making assumptions. As long as lg hasn't officially announced how long it will take before our G2 gets it (if it gets it) then nobody will know for sure.

Well this is only assumptions. If you see they have tagged may be or maybe not. Lg will never use this projection.
So until lg announces officially nothing can be said.
I think they sud consider flagship little longer support

Supposedly the G3 will get it before the end of the year, this year...

Yep other sources say the same.
Problem with porting is some of the drivers for the differing parts such as the camera. Unless source code is released it would be hard?

I'll have a n6 by then. Lg's slow ass can pound sand.

Come on guys it's LG...They are not committed to updating their phones like some of the other manufactures. I believe Sony, Moto, and HTC vowed to upgrade their phones to Lollipop. This should tell you which companies really "care"...Even ol Sammy announced Lollipop, shame.
Transmitted via Geass

I read an article it said LG G3 would get the update by the end of this year and I figured that's probably fake . Coz I dont think LG would be active to update as they always didn't.
this one seems more real but I'm neither worried nor looking forward to it. we've got some fantastic devs supporting us for developing the aosp based roms which i like the most!

the closest the g2 will get to android L is aosp based roms or a cloudy port from the g3. lg isn't good with ota updates at all.

I have five year experiance with LG, my opinion;
G3>february,march
G2>june,july

Lol toooooooooooo late, i'll sell this phone and get some with stock android, maybe motorola.
No more delayed updates.

The G3 ports we have are fantastic. Even stock 4.4.2 is decent.
Waiting a little extra should not be a problem as long as our G2 works like it does now
Remember, LG only bumped us from 4.2.2 to 4.4.2 meaning 1 update total. We will 100% get official L.

Yes but what then when we get L? I doubt we and many other devices will see that big of a difference. I mean, to this day there are some G2 users who still prefer JB over KK. And did you check leaked long video of Sammy S5 running early L build? It lagged and UI stayed 95% the same. Nothing big to expect really so why make such a big deal of it I dont understand

1. The device has been out for around 1 month, i.e. delivered to customers. It began to reach customers at the beginning of August and it was introduced on June 25.
2. Custom recovery is almost finished according to the latest posts.
3. We have root.
So I would say that it has progressed nicely, kindly remember that Sony rolled out the C6802 on a limited amount of markets, the wide release will be with the C6833 this month and that is when the ROM development kicks off.
So you are wrong, unfortunately. Expecting a lot of ROMs for a device that has been rolled out in a limited way, i.e. excluding Europe etc and that has been out for a month, mostly as an import is a bit naive. Usually, it takes a broad release before those things kicks off.
Also notice that the Ultra is a niche device unlike the Nexus 4 which has a lot of "mainstream appeal" due to its size and price. So comparing the Ultra with the N 4 and complaining is apples and pencils.
I knew that the Ultra had a limited rollout when I bought it and that the first step would be root and that development would start in September when the C6833 reaches customers and limited action initially - so I have not even considered another device.
It is necessary to understand what it means to buy a new device that is only available in a few markets.

The LTE model (perhaps the other models too, dunno) has not had its release yet in many countries. When I got my dads htc one in my hands there was no kernels, a few roms, no mods ..nothing fun. About a month later the forum got a few kernels and roms but the developers where there so I rooted the phone it with revone in Linux mint and installed insertcoin.
And WOW, I just checked out the htc one forum ...it is filled with threads for various roms and mods now! Don't worry, It's coming sooner or later for the Z ultra
I usually wait for a while before I get a device in order for the ROMs and kernels to appear but the Ultra with its unique screen and size made it too hard - I saw now that the first recovery that works seems to be posted over at Original Android Development.

You deserved use N4.
This phone just release HSPA+ edition start from 1/August. Until now only one month. And only few selected country is out. The LTE version wise is not even get release.
Which country you stay where this phone already release 3 months?
You keep your N4 fella.
We all wish you many happy years with it.
Yes it's slow. I bought htc butterfly s and xperia z ultra at the same time. (They announced at the same countries)
...but it's ok just because we already have a news about Cyanogen ! What can be more cooler than that !!!

you couldn't even afford it if your next choice is N4
Choosing between a 4.7" or a 6.44" device is odd, to put it mildly. To me, it isn't even a competition, the logical choice would be a Nexus 7 then.

I did not choose the N4 for its screen size or specs, i chose it because it allows me to flash custom roms and kernels. In singapore the LTE model is already released. Perhaps what you guys said is right, this thing has not yet seen a major worldwide release, ive seen the SZU in real life and its the best phone ever, im able to fit 2 S2s on it so perhaps in a few months when customs are available ill purchase one, but for now? Nah

It's a snapdragon 800 device, and it's been a real pain in the ass the last couple of days to try and find a method to manually compile boot.img etc.
- We won't be able to start kernel development before I finished this (I probably have once I get a file I requested from Kali or bin4ry)
- second, setting up a device tree for a complete new board like MSM8974 which has changes from Qualcomm isn't easy!
Just have some patience and don't blame the devs, we are doing whatever we can to provide stock image with recovery etc at the moment
Dont warrant yourself because of such a fool. He'll be one of the idiots who blame you then why vou've spend the 2 mins for this post, and not for pushing your dev work forward.
They should stop whining, and do it better on their own or get the hell out of here.
Roms are not about clients, contracts and payed work, so for everybody it should be more then natural to cherish the efforts in it.
Keep up the good work, and don't feel the comments of useless retards as a judgement of your dev-work.

Old news
Yeah anyone who believed their initial claim of November/December was a fool. When buying the G2 I fully expected it to never be updated like so many of their other devices.
I am hoping to be wrong of course, but as other OEMs push 4.3 and LG continues its silence, the chances of an update get slimmer.
I'm trying to find an OEM that Skipped a version of Android when updating. Say 4.1 - 4.3 etc. Don't ever see it happen.

HTC One on all carriers except Verizon skipped 4.2
Sent from my Nexus 7
Wifes Galaxy Note 2, still on 4.1, and my Note 10.1, still on 4.1. Both are supposed to be going straight to 4.3, but who knows....
This is typical of LG, which is why I hated my LG G2x when I got it. They just don't say ANYTHING. Why would you have a BRAND NEW PHONE on already super outdated software (4.2.2) and then remain hush on updates?!
I am in no rush really but at least say something like, "We're hard at work to bring the latest Android release to G2, ****, ***, and *****! Best case scenerio we should start rolling out in early 2014."
At least you know they're working on it and what devices will get what. It has to hurt sales. I mean it almost made me skip on the G2 just because it was running 4.2.2 when the Note 3 had 4.3. Your sales WILL increase if buyers know you are working on updates. If LG made a statement saying they were working on KitKat then I would have jumped on it earlier.
Funny thing is they'll probably release 4.3 in March of 2014 when we start seeing Android 5.0 stuff. Then LG will give up and never release another update past 4.3.
I just hope LG gives a **** this round or I will eventually smash my G2 and pick up something else. I'm already extremely edgy with LG since they stung me with the POS G2x. Great Phone turned into **** by LG. If they Ruin the new G2, they may never live it down.
I think you are greatly pissed by LG

I was browsing the other G3 forums and it looks like CM has a lot of things broken stil. Camera, bluetooth and etc. So it may be awhile before we get a rom here that has enough working to be usable. Looks like we will need some sources for things like the laser focus on the camera and such. Hope something happens soon. Seems every phone short of Nexus is getting a hard to develop for.

LG has the source firmware for every variant available on their website so at least we have the necessary resources to make it happen. Unfortunately, when it comes to features like Knock-On and OIS, some features from the kernel source will have to be ported and implemented on a 4.4.4 kernel. This is usually not an easy task as Android kernels are written in C and the kernel for 4.4.4 has been more or less overhauled and restructured since 4.4.2. Android L's kernel could be a whole different beast since Google changed so much within subvariants of the same kernel. Hopefully, when the Nexus 6 is available, it's use of OIS on a 5.0 kernel could give us some insight as to how to go about porting it. Then again, the issue arises of differnet lens and laser manufacturers being used and the possibility of obfuscated code within the kernel to protect against modifications to hardware.
However, we need to keep up the positivity. Now that every G3 variant has been Bump'd it is only a matter of time before we see some fully-functional AOSP love on this beautiful device.
please please i want aosp or else im selling!

It's another view but I also think LG trying to fix old mistakes with Software Update part, It would be good if we could get Android M also
Generally firstly korean versions get update than int. versions get the updates. It looks like fake but I hope we get the update.
Btw if this update really exist the version number shouldn't be v40 should be v3X(except v30, exmple v35a for 5.1.1 update. if we get android m update it should be v40X)
It's normal that the baseband is the same as 5.0.2?

What makes you say that? First of all the update to 5.1.1 isnt a drastic overhaul and is needed to fix bugs that are currently present in 5.0. An android M update would require more work than the 5.1.1 update.
The only reasons we probably won't get android m are:
1. Too much work to update to M because of drastic changes
2. They could have decided to just leave the LG g2 with lollipop, which is fair given the 2 year period since release. Most phones don't get updates after a 2 year period. Except for nexus.
They should rather skip Android Lollipop 5.1.x and go straight to Android M IMHO.
Doing a 5.1.x release for the LG G2 is a waste of time when Android M is already around the corner.
At the time they will release a 5.1.x update, it is probably going to be outdated already because Android M will already be available...
So, LG, if you are reading this, please update the LG G2 directly to Android M instead. That woud be much better.
Regards

I dont think that the canadian variant is only the fault of LG. The telecom providers don't even know when their own devices are getting updated and cant provide valid information so we should blame both or none.
Btw if this is true then it will be the v40 update. I didn't knew any other LG device yet which got updated higher then v30(2 android version upgrades) ofcourse excluding nexus series.

GSMArena also has good news for us http://m.gsmarena.com/lg_g2_will_receive_an_update_to_android_511_lollipop-news-12914.php

Added to OP thanks

Nougat for Axon 7 coming "in the next two weeks or so."

http://www.androidcentral.com/zte-doesnt-actually-know-what-people-want
TL;DR: Jeff Yee, Vice President of Technology Partnerships and Planning for ZTE North America:
"Before any decisions are made about the future of Project CSX, the company's current flagship, the Axon 7, is poised to get updated to Android 7.0 Nougat in early February. Yee says that Google has received the final Nougat build, which includes long-awaited Daydream support, and is going through the process of certifying the release for public use. That process should wrap up in the coming days, and users of the sold-unlocked device can look forward to an update in the next two weeks or so."
"...or so." I'll look for it at the end of February at the earliest.
also from the article:

That process should wrap up in the coming days, and users of the sold-unlocked device can look forward to an update in the next two weeks or so."
Unless it's near vanilla Nougat, and that abomination called Power Manager has been completely removed and killed with fire, I am not interested. Lineage is working wonderfully and I see no reason why ZTE would bring anything useful to the table based on the B27 and B29 updates.
My opinion, for what it's worth.
that article is bull****. the nougat beta doesnt seem to be anywhere close to ready....
I thought they would release 7.1 with Daydream?

Got any proof of that?
Bring it on! Really loving this phone and can't wait to see what the devs here do with the N software.
When it's done, it's done. Simple as that.

They gonna get me that's for sure....Their timeline for nougat has been much better than most other OEM's. And their help was invaluable in getting CM up and running which is pretty much the bigg at reason I actually bought the phone in the first place...If only I could find a decent glass screen protector this would be a 11/10
I was planning to go with the S8 once it is out (assuming unlocked bootloader). But after all ZTE did to help get CM up and running I am going to wait for the AXON 8 instead!

No it's not, not by a long shot. Since when is an update nearly a year after initial release so good? Even companies notorious for slow releases like Samsung have beaten them to the punch. The only one which comes to mind which has delayed as much as them is LG and they're being torn apart for it.

They've done the absolute bare minimum and did far less than any of the random developers here who wanted to get it done. There is literally zero ROMs that you can honestly thank them for, in fact if they weren't so stubborn and just gave us the material to work with we could have come up with plenty long ago. Go ahead and use one of those ROMs, which ZTE did nothing to help with just to be perfectly clear, if you don't mind losing functionality like access to the Hi-Fi DAC. ZTE are by far one of the worst companies when it comes to support that I've ever heard of. Interesting that a lack of screen protectors is what keeps it from being an "11" when it's camera practically doesn't function in medium light, there's random bugs all over the place, and there's still even enough typos to make the entire thing seem like a bad joke.
Even if they do deliver now, it'd be too little too late. I've had this phone for half a year and they haven't kept a single promise. Only empty hype which has never once resulted in something tangible.
I like this mtfk
You Sir have a point, and I think is a valid one.

Given how A2017G users are treated, maybe February 2018?
