Just got a lumia 920 that's locked to AT&T and displays a sim card error. - Nokia Lumia 920

I recently purchased a locked 920 that has a sim card issue. I knowingly bought the phone broken since I was getting it for a good price (70$).
Either way, every time you put the phone in, it displays a message stating that the sim card is missing or invalid. Some forums told me to put a piece of tape under the sim card tray before putting in the sim card , but it didn't work unfortunately...
I need help on finding the part to replace my phone. I'll try opening it up later to see if one of the contacts are bent.

Without unlocking the phone it won't accept any unofficial sim card.

I know that. Unfortunately it doesn't prompt me with an option to enter the unlock code when I open the phone with the new sim card inside.

the pins in the sim card slot are likely broken. this is a common issue with this phone if someone used a sim card adapter inside of it.

[Q] Vibrant unlock help.

Hi, I'm new to the forums and new to unlocking phones. But I wanted to unlock my vibrant, I have my unlock and unfreeze codes but when I put a different sim card in it just tells me to call customer care and gives me no option to put in an unlock code. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Different sim card have to be from different service provider like at&t.
This is first time I hear that unlocking option won't appear after installing different sim card !
I tried using a net 10 trac fone sim card, since I read from other people on here they said it would work. but when i put it in and start the phone i can use my phone but when I go to the call screen it says "sim card crash - Please contact customer service". So Im gonna try an at&t card(with data plan) from my friend hopefully it works. Also I have another question like I said Im new to this stuff. If I still use my tmobile sim card can I still connect to at&t's internet/data?
I would think that to access AT&T's network services, you would need to have the AT&T sim installed in the phone.
You have to put different sim card other than T-Mobile to get unlock code screen !

Dude WOLF, not to be rude but if you read I put a NET 10 TRAC Fone sim in, not a t-mobile.
anyways on a better note. I finally have it unlocked! I put in a friends boost mobile sim, Screen popped up and put the code in. sweet.

Nope...you'd need to put in an AT&T SIM that's tied to an AT&T account with a data plan.

[Q] I9300 and a cut at&t gophone sim - "no sim" error

Hi Everyone,
Question - I cut down a regular sized sim card received from AT&T for the go phone that looks like this:
I can't post outside links yet but here is the photo -
i49.tinypic.com/rku2oi.jpg
When I power on the phone I get a "no sim" error - tried to enable and disable flight mode and it gave the error "sim card crash check your sim card or contact customer care" (that did not show up when I had 0 sim cards installed)
Anyone successfully get a gophone sim card to work? I saw some sim cards with more contact points (longer or wider) so not sure if this is the right type for the phone.
After failing in the I9300 I inserted it back into my dumbphone that I used to active the card earlier and it read the card without issues.
Also, if this happens to be the wrong type of sim card what do I do? Should I call AT&T and ask for a different type of sim card? purchase it from somewhere on the internet and activate it?
Thanks for your help in advance!

If you have even sliced any of the metal contact then its game over.
Time for a new sim.
Regardless If it works in other phones.
Its never fool proof, plus the sim type does matter.

Thanks! Do you know if the sim type I have in that picture is the right type? Is there a specific model or something that I can ask for from AT&T?

[Q] SIM card holder broken or region lock

how can you see that there is a region lock on either the SIM card holder is broken
There will always be No SIM, Insert sim card.
In another samsung s3 does the SIM card is perfect, so the SIM card is not the problem!
Maybe someone can help me here ?
Sorry for my bad english
SIM holder is broken, if phone was network locked it would prompt you for the unlock code. Best try another SIM card first, but it sounds like you need a service centre.
you are very sure?
thx

[Q] Confirmation that sim slot is working?

Hello all, i just bought one of these phones on ebay. Im not sure if the SIM slot if working. I put an inactive T-moblie and also an old AT&T sim card in there, but the lock screen shows "No SIM card" with a picture of a sim card with a red exclaimation point underneath that it says "no sim card inserted emergency calls only". I wanted to activate it on T-mobile or Straighttalk, but before i buy a new sim with a months plan i'd like to make sure that its working. Does the phone show this message with an inactive sim card inserted? or only when there is NO sim card inserted. Thanks for any help.

I have two amazes. One had a broken SIM slot. The other was normal.
The one with the broken SIM slot showed the no SIM card even when I used my good SIM card.
One of the guys from the forum sent me the phone to tinker with along with the $9 part. I fixed it and now, with an old non active SIM card in it it shows a cell signal. But no data. And when I try to make a call it goes straight to T-Mobile.
It's a very easy fix if you can get the party and the tiny torx driver to remove the screws.
How much did you spend buying the phone?
Chevy

Get a new SIM first, then a new SIM slot replacement if it doesn't work.

Check with T-Mobile first, you might need to get a new SIM card.
If a new SIM does not fix the issue, just go with Chevy's suggestion and buy a new SIM part from ebay.com. Make sure you use the right tools, and an anti-static wrist strap may help! :good:
If you bought an Amaze at this point in time for over 130$, you probably didn't get the best deal considering how it isn't working right. I really don't understand why people still are buying Amazes when there's much nicer HTC phones lol.

Invalid Sim, enter code PUK

Hi, I have a galaxy s9+ 965F and I was running a T-Mobile sim, the phone was working fine for about a week now all of a sudden when I boot the phone up it's saying invalid Sim please enter code PUK. Can anyone enlighten me on what happened to my phone and is there anything I can do to get it back working? I've called T-Mobile and they gave me the PUK but it doesn't accept it, I've called samsung and they send me right back to TMobile.

Try seeing if the sim card isn't seated correctly. You can do this easily... Power off the phone, remove the sim card tray and making sure it's in the tray correctly. Then reinsert the sim card try and power on the phone.
If that doesn't help then for what ever reason the phone became sim locked, so you need to contact the carrier whom the phone came from and ask them for the code.
T-Mobile won't be able to give you that code unless the phone came from them. I would be careful not to enter the incorrect PUK code in to many times in case it ends doing some sort of hard lock or disables the sim card.
