[ROM] [8.4 WiFi] [OFFICIAL] [KitKat 4.4.4] Orbix v1.10 (Nov 19, 2014) - Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2, 10.1, 8.4 Android Development

Introducing a new ROM from the creator of Steel Droid
Orbix
This ROM is based on CM11, with pulls from many other ROMs and sources, including AOSP, AOKP, Team Bliss, PA, and more. Features may be slow to come in, but I'm testing myself. I will add more devices as I feel there is time and support. There is also a new feel and look to this ROM. Cleaner, smoother, better battery life, and increased performance.
Changelog:
Orbix v1.10
* Added Themes QuickTile
* Added Customizable Location tile
* Added Network Speed Indicator (multiple credits)
* Added ROM changelog to Settings
* Improved Heads Up feature
* Major kernel overhaul (credit vikrant82)
* Fixed missing entries in device overlay files
* Spiced up the build a little (for those that build my source)
Orbix v1.00
* Added some experimental battery and performance tweaks
* Removed most CM branding and unused apps
* Fix a few memory leaks
* Includes hand-picked upstream AOSP commits
* Added Partition Information menu to Settings

Good to see you back, well I'm sure you have been around but I used steel droid back in the day with my OG Droid, I loved your work. Glad to see this device getting a few more options. Good to have you around!

Seems cool.. But what features will be from paranoid, aokp, etc?

I'll add the features list and a download link when I get home from work. Don't worry, I'll post it up.

There we go. First upload complete. Check it out!

tester
Hey Chevy,
Great name, I have a silverado, myself! Hey, if you need a tester for the 12.2 version, I would be glad help.
Brian

Sorry if it seems that the first version is somehow lacking. Im very busy right now, and trying to add new features correctly the first time takes more effort than adding now, and waiting for the bugs to show themselves.
Ill keep adding stuff as I get the time.

Probably. I only have the 8.4 to test on, so my thing is, if it works on the 8.4, Im assuming it will work on the 10.1 and 12.2 as well.
Im also probably going to add the LG G2 (vs980) to the list, since I have one, and POSSIBLY for the other G2 variants if I have time. But this ROM was more aimed at a tablet than a phone or phablet. Im still adding features to this ROM, so the next release will probably still be just the 8.4, unless I can get some spare time to add in the other two Tab Pro devices.

I added 4 screenshots to the Screenshot tab. Yes, I know, it looks like CM still. That will change once I get these next couple features added in and tested.

Hi, based on former experience I am happy to present 5.1 Liscio Fast Forward including self-compiled AOSP kernel (with DT2W and S2W). Few other modifications which were carefully chosen. Feel free to post your feature request here but be aware this will always stay as close as possible to stock.
Please flash this with Gapps of your choice. I used SimpleAOSP's.

I can not take any responsibility damaging your device or alarm clock which will not come off. If you decide to flash my ROM, you are getting responsible yourself. Have a functioning Nandroid in case something goes wrong.

Update, flashed the version which I uploaded on a clean install and no issues. I just removed the file on androidfilehost and re-upload..strange to see that the file size shrunk from 165MB to 116MB...I am uploading to MEGA right now
First page download link updated. Have fun and please feedback if working or not.
Hi. I can not check if this works differently on Sprint network. As for Telekom Germany, I would say all is fine. I recommend you just flash and try..

Bluetooth won't enable... seems permissions related?
As usual, this wouldn't be possible without all the hard work from @crpalmer and the CM team in general.
In fact he already did most of the bringup for Slim, so apologies for dragging on this one - I know people were waiting for it.
Enjoy! I am thinking I can keep up with the weekly schedule Slim does, I'll try to coordinate my builds with their weeklies as best I can.

Awesome. Of course this drops right as I'm heading out of town and can't flash, but that's how my life goes. If you're not sure you've got the right repo and such, ask the guys in the N5 thread. They often help people trying to make their own builds. Friendly bunch there. Thanks for your work on this (and of course crpalmer!).

See the post I quoted, it's fixed.
I've also fixed the keyboard issue... I guess I should play with different values, but the values used for CM didn't work... default is 4, crpalmer adjusted to 5... which worked for other ROM's. I just tried 15 for fun, and it worked.
Going to attempt 6 and see if that is good enough. I'm not sure what the negative effect would be of turning up this divider tho?
I finally got a chance to flash this and though I haven't tested everything possible, so far I've not encountered a single issue. I'm just thrilled to death. It's just like on my Nexus 5. I can't thank you, @arrrghhh (and of course @crpalmer for his device wizardry) enough.

Also, isn't GrooveIP basically dead now that Google removed support for third parties?

lol, Slim likes to use a different DPI. I believe Slim is working towards a DPI updater on-the-fly... otherwise you'll have to adjust it in the build.prop.

Understood as to your statement of its utility, inasmuch as one person's feature is another's bloat. As to Groove IP rendered dead, it was given another span of life via the entity Ring.to. Swift to establish, and a host of additional numbers to grab. Works flawlessly.
I as you am dumbfounded by the superior quality of Hangouts for iOS.
Thanks for all you do.

I've noticed apps seem to treat the tablet as though it has a menu button. No three dot button in UI or menu button appears in soft keys. Is there a build.prop edit or something that can fix this?

And it may take till Christmas to get one. The Exynos processor in it makes it harder to work with, from what I understand. The 8.4 has the better supported Snapdragon 800 and is not too different from the Note 3.

You can get root back in the settings. Its in developer options. You have to choose apps + adb I believe. I lost root as well until I did that.
as to dt2w i am looking into it and as for root we manually disable it so you have to enable Root Apps + ADB in Developer options in Settings.
Beautiful ROM. Great work. Its super fast and has all the slim features. It even reads my SD card which is something liquid, cm, and vanir didn't do. (I really didn't want to reformat that card.) No bugs so far.
I do miss the double-tap on feature though. Does anyone have a suggestion, app, or workaround to get that working? Play store doesn't have much to offer to assign a shortcut or gesture through nova prime.
Oops...just saw dev post regarding this. Posted at the same time. My bad.

I got alot of plans as time permits. ... lol of course official 5.0 is not far off
Amazing Custom Job on this Rom. Its Fast and Clean as well. Good to see someone else cooking up their own specialized Rom. Reminds me of the MikMik and EnergyRom dayz back on my TouchPro.
Only trouble so far is unable to change lockscreen wallpaper?
**workaround verified! Set from long press on launcher instead of settings menu.

Dear LinhPhi9x94,
Thank you very much for BlurOS Release2!
Cool build !!!
Looks interesting. Is this ROM based on CM?
Can't log in to my Google account during setup, if I skip signing in it advances to the groovy blue/purple Blur logo on white background with the network speed and battery logo at top right corner but can't get past here... secret?
OK now, fourth time was the winner with a few manual reboots.
Very nice fresh look, unique.
I like it. Good job.
Does this ROM actually use 3.10 kernel?
Can we flash supersu 2.65 or above for this rom as superuser is a bit uncertain for some apps and is required to ask again and again after every reboot
Edit : supersu is working
Customization KILLS !!!
Just installed the rom via TWRP 3.0.2. The following are my comments:
♦ The customization is simply awesome *Almost every customization from every kind of rom out there is present inbuilt* Awesome work by the BlurOs team ! (P.S I love lockscreen blur, its present)
* The default wallpaper sucks though
* Camera : Snap Camera (better pictures than sultan's, my opinion)
* Root is inbuilt
* Performance is excellent. The off screen gestures are pretty snappy
* The gallery app is quicker than most
* Battery life will be updated in a day or two
* Addictive Rom ! Do try it people !
Awesome work !! Best rom I've flashed till date !! ♥in it !!
BUG :
# The system update says there is no internet connection, even when the phone has one !
Last time I tried there were some Viet characters/apps. Is it all English now?

If you're a fan of how IOS looks, then this is the perfect ROM for you.
This has the CMTE theme engine installed and has a 4 pre-installed themes you can pick from, one of them is a dark theme which I'm very happy about.
I'm going to keep this ROM on my phone for a few days to see how I like it. I never thought I'd stick with a ROM that replicates the look of iOS, but it's a very interesting idea and It's very refreshing compared to all the stock looking ROMs that are available.
Also, in additition to looking so different from all the other ROMS out there, it has a ton of settings and options that most major and minor roms have, anything you can imagine really.
Edit:
Only downside i've found so far is that there's no way to disable the Capacitive Button Lights.
Edit2:
Can't seem to delete Gapps from the ROM. Un-install them through Titanium backup, but they reinstall themselves after a reboot. Anyone have any ideas?

i installed opengapps as part of the blurOS install process - my regular filters (include/exclude) and things worked well
no major issues. privacy settings, themes work well. Minor issue - phone calls sometimes cannot be picked using the circular green/red buttons and i had to swipe down the notification area to accept calls. Also, the default theme background is white + foreground text also white. Changing to another theme fixed that issue

The ROM comes with the gaps bre-baked, which is why it's so big. I was trying to delete them so I could use MicroG to immitate gapps, but not actually have any gapps on my phone. But the normal gapps kept getting reinstalled when I rebooted the phone.
I installed rom yesterday. I'm liking the customization provided. Also I feel audio output is far better than all other ROMs i tried. Thanks. I will post my battery review later
