Network Selection Mode Locked - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear All,
I have purchased a new cellphone "Gfive G6 President & unable to use 3G in it because its network selection option is completely locked, went to few shops for flash but did not get any positive response on it, i would be really thankful to all of you if you could help me out on it.
Note: My carrier is providing 3G facility in Pakistan also my sim card supports the same, i am already using 3G (WCDMA) with the same sim in other Android Cell Phone, i have also tried checking it via *#*#4636#*#* code in Phone information, it shows me that i can select WCDMA Only mode, but when i select it, GSM only remains selected. Please help me out other wise my 8500 PKR will be wasted. Please help me.
Someone told me that by rooting the phone issue will be resolved or by upgrading to Android 4.4 Kitkat can help, one more thing i would like to add, that i have googled cellphone history, as per history this cell is TD-CDMA supported.

Update
Please update me on my question, if no one got any answer can simply inform No.

Can anyone help? - No Signal

Hi folks, can anyone please help me with this problem?
My brother in law has asked me to look at his S740. He has tried several o2 SIM cards (UK) in this phone but always gets told there is no signal.
Not only that, but there is a symbol where the strength meter should be that isn't documented in the user guide.
He has also tried my o2 (3G) sim and a Vodafone sim, both UK.
Any advice gratefully recieved. We have tried several hard resets also.
Thanks
This means it's looking for signal. My guess: Still SIM-locked?

Not sure if it's SIM locked as there is a menu to select which carrier to use.
It reads the SIM correctly and sets it all up for o2, but just doesnt get any signal.
Does anyone know where the GSM antenna is on these? Maybe its a bad connection.
UPDATE:
I've had a mail back from HTC that recommends I send it in for repair, lol.
Now do I take it they are robbing buggers or do I take it that the icon is an indicator of a hardware fault??
Hmmmm, dilemma. lol
Are there any more suggestions on what it may be?
Has anyone successfully taken one of these apart?
it may be because of a hardware error...try to connect to a wifi network...if it impossible to find a wifi network then it is due to a harware problem. Most likely because the FR coaxial cable is out of its possision...download the service manual and see how to fix it.

Hi sasiskas, it conects fine to my wireless network at home. I take it from your response that the cable serves a double purpose.
I downloaded the service manual so I could take a look, but only got as far as removing the 4 screws at the back. lol, I couldn't figure out how to get it off, lol
I'm still stuck at the assumption that it is indeed SIM locked, and so will try to find a suitable card to try out.

Thanks. I have tried the same but just keep getting a vender ID, (lol spelling), error.
I would appreciate any input whether you have success or not, it just may spark an idea off.
I cant get in touch with any sales or provider as it was gifted to my bro in law. He's not that bothered about it but would like to have it working if he can.
Thanks folks.
Hey! I think I know the solution to your problem...I had exactly the same problem when I hardReseted my phone.
Go to "Start-settings-Phone-Band Select"
and then select
1.Network type : Auto
2.Band Type : "Euro" if you live in Europe, "US" if you live in USA , or "Japan" if you live in Japan.
Good luck...Let us know if it worked!

Yes that is a good suggestion because the phone will display that icon if it can't find a *usable* network, be it that the SIM doesn't allow it or if the bands don't match the selection on the phone or the bands are not usable by the phone hardware etc.
I would suggest downloading & running HTC Field Test (fieldtest.exe) with & without a SIM installed, with each network & band setting & see if it shows any towers or signal. (Normally you want Auto for both but you may not have that option or you might prefer to set to a KNOWN working band to conserve battery & minimize searching) If should show something even without SIM or with SIM lock because it's supposed to support emergency calls either way. If it shows signals with SIM but you still have same no service icon then it's likely SIM locked (although the phone should alert you to that fact) so odds are the phone hardware, rom or settings do not support whatever signals are available to you. (Btw if field test shows N/A for all the values you need to app unlock your phone)
Hope that helps.
Bill
can you share a link with HTC Field Test?Thnx
Search is your friend.

Hey all I'm having a very similar problem.
Had my HTC for some months now but in the past few days I've found that my network signal is becoming very unpredictable.
I'm also on O2 and I used to have a pretty contstant H (I presume HSDPA) connection.
Howeever im finding now the phone with go from H to 3G to GPRS to E to no signal in the course of 5 mines and round and round again!
Its very annoying as it means I cant make / received calls or texts fluently and even cut me off on a phone call too.
However usually on phone calls it will keep me connected ok till I hang up and then go to no signal.
I've checked the wireless and it is picking up networks..
Any other suggestions? I will try the field test tomorrow...
PS I know its not the network as my work blackberry is O2 and is not having this issue..
Cheers in advance!
Well, just to close my input on this thread.
I tried various ROM's available from this site and none worked.
I did try the band selection settings but still a no go.
I did have limited success but overall, nothing. The phone has now gone back to the person who asked me to look into it and to my knowledge he is going to sell it to one of these phone reclaim companies.
I did check and one place, I think through the post office, is offering £80 ish so not bad I suppose.
Anyway, thank you to all who have made suggestions and wotnot. Personally I'm still happy with an old Nokia 6300 and my Wizard (Mini-S)
Thanks folks.

[Q] Atrix problem "network with limited service found"

Hi,
I have strange problem with Atrix, it's registering to network then it is showing "network with limited service found. do you want to initiate a network search".
Mobile network is connected, I have good reception, I can use Internet access over that network, however cant make/receive.
Stock firmware, no changes.
Any information much appreciated.
Rob
That's odd. I guess T-Mobile is compatible with the atrix in the UK?
If your phone is completely stock, maybe Moto or your carrier could help you with it if nobody on here can. I'm not an expert, but if you just got this phone, then if you wouldn't mind doing a factory reset, that may squash any problem. Another thing that it may be doing if it's a new phone is try to update itself to a newer build? When you go to wireless and networks and look at the list of APNs, what is listed and what is it currently connected to?
Hi
Thank you so much for your replay. Unfortunetely i've done all those.
I think I can do much more than give headaset back to the shop as not working.
Regards,
Rob
Ps. Funny enough I'm sending this from Atrix on 3G connection but still cant make thw call.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA
Mystery solved, I have bought a "blocked" phone.
I called Orange UK to ask about status of that IMEI (as that was Orange phone), and very nice lady told me that phone is blacklisted with "lost or stolen" description.
So next time when your toy cant login to GSM network but working fine on 3G/GPRS please first check is phone is not blacklisted.
Case closed.

Rob

[Q] Huawei U8650 no data connection

Hi Y´all.
Did a search on this without any luck. There isn´t any forum specifically for Huawei U8650 (sonic) and i think this might be an android issue.
I bought this phone for my stepdaughter on her 13´th birthday and i can´t for the life of me figure out how to acheive data connection.
This is what i have tried:
1: The SIM-card used for test is my own card, normally running flawlessly in my Desire HD. It therefore stands to reason that the there is no problem with the service provider.
2: SMS and voice dial generally performs as expected. One odd thing strikes me though:
Any bog standard sms from another phone is recieved as always.
The service provider has a "setup by sms" service and there is a setup for the Sonic as well. That sms isn´t recieved.
Can an android phone be locked to a fixed country? has anyone ever heard Huawei doing such a thing ?
The phone is tested in Greenland but was bought in Denmark.
The phone was not bought through a service provider but a bog standard electronics webshop. thus - no contract.
2g & 3g network are enabled.
Access points for MMS & GPRS are set up as instructed by service provider.
Phone has been set up to choose automatically between 2g & 3g network allthough fixed 2g & 3g connection respectively has been attempted.
The phone has been for a check up under guarantee - came back with a clean bill of health.
Here´s what really confuses me:
When i scan for available networks the phone can actually see both 2g & 3g network
Pretty much the only thing that i haven´t yet tried is rooting the handset and trying another rom.
I´m going to travel to Denmark in a couple of months and am considering bringing the handset with me for further testing.
There it will also be possible to show up in person at the store and get them to show me it works. I am therefore not inclined towards rooting since it, most likely, will be a guarantee "gotc`ha"
please help - my mental health is at stake :silly:

In need of some assistance:I9300GSMH

Hello, First post here on Xda, Nice to meet you all.
I'm looking for some serious help with my new samsung galaxy S3GSMH International version.
Long story short, My girlfriend lives in germany, While on holiday there I purchased a samsung galaxy s3i9300 and was told it will work in any region any network due to being factory unlocked.
In germany I was using a sim card from VIVA mobile or something of the like and it worked fine.
After I returned home, I switched in my UK Vodafone sim card, A message then popped up saying, Please select sim service:vodafone UK/Vodafone UK prepaid.
So I chose Vodafone UK and clicked on OK, I thought everything was fine untill i tried to make a call and got, Not registered on network.
Now I have searched for days in all types of threads to get this fixed, I have tried flashing stock firmware with odin/emergency recovery Via Kies/Flashing modems/flashing patched modems/patched kernals/Ariza patch/Ariza patch Jb.
My Imei is fine and matches under the battery, The S/N also matches under the battery.
So I just don't understand it, If it asked me to choose which sim service surely that means it has some type of connection with the network? I have full signal bars too.
Is there anything else i need to do to get this working? Because I am at a loss, And I obviously can't take it back due to the shop being in germany
Any help or input is extremely appreciated!

[Q] Help registering with a network!

I hope I'm posting in the correct section...
I purchased a SHV-E210K from South Korea, off of ebay, that has already been unlocked and installed with android version 4.4.4 . I bought it with the intent of using it with my Straight Talk service (I currently have a SIM BYOP system I'm using).
Right off the bat the phone works great (as in no freezing up, unexpected oddities, etc), except with the SIM card in it, it simply says "Failed to register with network", and I can't access anything - no calls, no data service, nada. I was under the impression it would just work with me popping in the SIM card, but guess I didn't do my research sufficiently...
Can anyone tell me what I need to change/do in order to get this working correctly here in the USA?
Thanks!
Check the specification of the handset against your network, you may find the phone is not capable of the required frequencies.
Moving phones between countries is not simple, particularly north America.

I just checked straighttalks IMEI website checker to see if it's compatible on their network, and it says it is, and literally to just pop a SIM card into it... lol.
Any suggestions?
U can check/uncheck the service state from hidden menu.
go to the dialer and enter code "319712358"
A password/code will be required to do so further.
