Greetings, I have a Archos 101b platinum tablet running kitkat and I have been searching around the internet but I just can't seem to find anything about rooting for my tablet.
I would really love to root it and make it possible for apps/games being installed on the SDcard and if possible get an adblock on it. but to do such things I seem to need root access but the amount of information on how to do it for this tablet is so minimal(None) it's driving me crazy.
If anybody is able to help me with this I would really appreciate it.

I'm also trying to gain root (even if just temporary) on a 101b platinum, just to remove the google system/app guff.
I assume this is a Generation 10 tablet since it follows "GEN10 TABLETS" in the drop down list for documentation on archos's website.
What I found so far is;
To get to USB debugging you have to press Settings > About > Build, several times to get Developer options, which seems paranoid since ADB alone is nightmare to install and use.
adb root, throws an error about not allowed in production builds.
tried installing the SDE, but it seems the recovery firmware update only accepts ZIP files, so I tried zipping up the AOS file, but the update just errors with "wrong footer".
Tried the Paul/Modoco Gen9 root, but the /data/local folder is locked from user access afaics.
I'm thinking either forcing the SDE on somehow or a firmware mod is the direct solution to root, but I'd ideally like a less destructive version of modding.
Update:
Tried iRoot (formerly vRoot) and Kingo ROOT without any success.
Seems Kingo ROOT goes through known exploits to, I'm suspecting it's been locked down in newer Kitkat.
I doubt a patched firmware will be around until Archos issue a stock one (it's currently missing from the list)

I've noticed a few other people have had the Kingo ROOT crash the boot process on the Archos, and think it's bricked. It's not, if your tablet (or nearly any new consumer electronics) refuses to shutdown for any reason, press and hold the power button until the device powers off. I thought it was common knowledge, but it seems not.

I bought Lenovo S890, which is trully a nice phone. Only bad thing about it was, that it had a lot of chinese apps, which I uninstalled. Unfortunately I uninstalled system app contacts, which turned out to be a mistake. After painfully long time, when I didn't manage to install the app back on the phone, I bricked it. So after that I tried to install new ROM, which i could then root and restore the phone to better shape...
As it turned out, this was painfull as well After several fails I managed to install original ROM via Flash tools, which is chinese only. In the end, i manage to install updated original ROM and now i have access to recovery mod, but it is in chinese and I don't understand the language - if someone do, could you have a look at sugarsync.com/pf/D6990784_658_292574314 and tell me what to click in order to install new ROM from SD card? When I try to install different recovery mod, the phone won't boot at all.

I think I didn't use Download, but Firmware->Upgrade instead. Also, if you are trying to install TWRP, I managed to do so by flashing all parts from original ROM and selected only recovery from Team win.

in Flash tools don't use Download button, use Firmware->upgrade instead.

I have rooted my Be Touch and installed custom recovery as well using this guide

Now, there is an available OTA from the local reseller and I can't install it due to custom recovery. How do I update my phone now? The error I am getting is System is Damaged which I have attributed to CUstom Recovery upon searching google
I have the same problem to update phone. The downloaded update.zip file over OTA could be found in my SD-card, just 18.89Mb. I've tried to install it using recovery by choosing "install zip -> choose zip from sdcard". But finally I got following error:

Reverting back to kitkat.
I tried flashing using spflash on my Ulefone Be touch, it was on lollipop and it did not transition to kitkat. it in fact got semi bricked but i got through that and fixed it. the phone was originally rebranded so it had another skin on top of it (not ulefone). how can i get it back to kitkat? do i have to root it and manually flash it on my phone? or is flashing a downgrade not possible by just regular means?

Here is the latest stock rom: http://ulefone.com/download/betouch.html. You will find the boot.img and recovery.img in the zip file. But I'm afraid to brick my phone to have a try. Moreover I don't know whether this root method could still work if I get phone flashed successfully...
are you using a rebrand? I already flashed the recovery of Be Touch, unrooted my phone as well but OTA is still failing, even manual zip install and sideload fails. I guess it is because my phone is a rebrand and thus, uses another recovery as stock. I have used this ROM as my base now and I can confirm that root is still working

I think my phone is not rebrand, because there is ulefone logo on rear cover. I got it rooted with Build 20150513 ROM.
With the rooted Build 20150513 ROM, I get phone flashed with official Build 20150529 ROM successfully. Afterwards, the root method still works!

I've used several phones and can accept this one. More faster to change the phone more heat will get produced. Surfing or gaming will need more hardware resource and power for display, no wonder that it will get warm too. Maybe a metal cover will get heat better distributed, but then it will be sold in another price...

You should try 20150702 ROM. Phone is now not less hot when charging and surfing. I did flash back to official 20150529 ROM and then do the OTA update.
There is a ROM of ulefone be touch 2 on needrom !
Rooted Be Touch 2, Xposed, Loving it.
Hi folks. I used this process to successfuly root my Ulefone Be Touch 2. Instead of the provided recovery.img and boot.img, I used a version of Carliv Recovery and the Be Touch 2 boot.img found through needrom and it worked perfectly.
I was also able to install Xposed Framework by changing the Android version from 5.1 to 5.0 in prop settings (using BuildProp Editor) - which is fine since most say it's fake 5.1 anyway.
Does anyone know whether people have successfully installed custom roms to the Be Touch 2? I find the stock ROM laggy - more so than it should be - but I hesitate to install something like CM or Liquidsmooth without knowing.

I might have a way of easily flash TWRP, and install SuperSU, use the Temporary recovery project to boot temporarily into twrp and flashing supersu, theres an easy way of getting twrp permanently but ill try it when i get the tablet 31th of this month.
Also this temporary recovery does not require an unlocked bootloader since it uses a flaw in bootloader to load twrp, but it might be patched, just try it.

I think its time to share at least some results, i was able to port TWRP 3.0.2 to this device AND ROOTING this device. ill leave twrp 3.0.2 here for who wants it. Please read all of the post.

After flashing TWRP 3.0.2, use the SuperSU 2.46 flashable zip, do NOT use latest version or will result in a bootloop. Good Luck and have fun with rooting. Links on bottom of the post.

Bugs:
1- adb shell command needs to be sent before system partition is mounted or it will give an error, after doing adb shell you can mount system and do all the modifications you need.

3- Backups do work, but everytime twrp restarts, the device name seems to change (which means that on /TWRP/BACKUPS/devicename/backupsinside/ changes every reboot so you have to go get the backup inside the old devicename folder and put on the new devicename folder).

Im leaving an unsecured boot image because system seems not want to boot android if anything seems changed. So please if system does not boot after flashing twrp/rooting, flash the unsecured boot img on fastboot.

I finally rooted the device! Download SuperSU 2.46 (DO NOT USE LATEST VERSION as it will cause a bootloop), and flash it with the TWRP i made that i shared on this thread.

on this thread simply scroll up and you should see it, its saying what bugs and names of the images are pretty straightforward.. flash the unsecured boot (its names osmething like that), and flash the TWRP.img, the root you will have to search on google for version 2.46, if u use the latest you will have bootloop
Hi guys,
I am total idi*t. I accidentally flashed a wrong recovery image. Now the device is in the boot-loop. Cannot boot up and cannot get into the recovery menu. Is still there a way I can fix it by software?
The device is Prestigio Wize 3407 4G. It is sh*t, but I wanted to at least utilize somehow. SoC is Mediatek 6735.

Ok, I found a way how to fix, hopefuly. Mediatek has Boot ROM which can download new software even if it looks it is completely dead. I "just" need the Stock ROM for this model. Unfortunately I cannot find any. Do you know where I could get it? Or would be someone so kind and would provide me the ROM from his phone (in case someone else has the Wize 3407 4G). Thanks in advance!

you can get original update zip from oficial prestigio site.
If you tell me how to export my rom i will give it to you.

MTK Android Tool does not read my device I tryed to install Android_VCOM_Driver after disable driver signature of windows 10 but it keep says unknow device.

Here is full ROM from russian forum 4pda.ru reuploaded to another site (so you don't have to solve Russian captcha )
Steps:
download this file (select english flag in top-right corner of this site, then press slow download.) (the same file is on 4pda.ru too) (send me a message if link is broken): uloz.to/!ToeaDRQVcieT/pmt3407-4g-20160728-1-0-11-to-pmt3407-4g-20161022-1-0-13-zip
turn off Prestigio Wize 3407 4G
extract archive and place update.zip to root directory of your fat32 formatted micro SD card. Insert micro SD card to your device
hold power and volume+ until you see boot logo (when you see boot logo, release keys). In recovery select apply update from SD card (move with volume keys, confirm with power button). Then select update.zip
Install and apply OTA update
Root:
Install and root with kingroot 5
Optional: Replace kingroot with app super-sume pro (paid)
You are done
If something goes wrong, just reflash full ROM. But you must have a way to get to stock recovery.

I cant seem to find anything on this thing. My searches keep bringing up other Alcatel devices or the Oneplus 3T. I got this tablet from tmobile for free and I was only planning on using it to mirror in my cars android auto.
I have tried kingroot and the process just sits at 1%
Please let me know if you need any other tablet information.

If for some reason this cant be rooted does anyone have any cheap tablet suggestions that can be rooted easily?
I have tried every method suggested to root mine and nothing. There is an update that i need to charge tablet up so i can install and will attempt them all again. I am running a samsung SM-T357T that is rooted and twrp installed till I can root this tablet . Hope to be soon.

I would like to see this as well. T-mobile really locked this device down and even took away the built in call kit as it's VOLTE.
Would SP Flashtool work as it's a mediatek device ?
Likewise searching for a means to root my Alcatel 37 9027W. T-mobile seems to have modded the android 8.1.0. in such a way
making it impossible to remove or otherwise stop google news feed running constantly in the background.

Guys please, I need urgent help, I tried flashing gsi, but they didn't boot, I forgot to take a backup earlier, and the device is kind of bricked now, can anyone please provide me with the stock rom, it's a request please..

This works but we need a custom recovery or rooted boot image.
I was able to get a permanent root through a link to a reply on that thread.

I haven't fully tested the extent of the root, but I was able to get a prompt, root checker confirmed root, and Magisk is reported as installed. Obviously this will not unlock the bootloader or allow for a custom recovery (that I know of) so we will have to wait until someone can get fastboot working on this device for that.

I used this tablet today . Very slow and laggy. Defiantly needs a new rom. Has anybody been able to flash any modules through Magisk or remove any of the T-mobile bloat ?
Found this thread looking for a root method for my Joytab. I just disabled the "Modify system settings" and " Draw over other apps" settings for Smart Manager and my Joytab is definitely way less laggy. No root required.
