Acer Predator 8 GT-810 Root needed please! - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, i am willing to donate if someone can figure out a way to Root the new Acer Predator 8 GT-810 Tablet. Been looking everywhere and tried many common root apps with no luck. Thanks in advance.

Mee Too! I will also donate when someone helps me to root the Acer predator 8.

Amazing tablet, but what's the point when you can't root and hook up your Ps3 controller to play some emulators?

First i need root for the device to get it Ad-free and to install appOops, to delete tons of bloatware, a working recovery would be great and some custom Roms also.

I would love to have root for this tablet too

Anybody knows, how to root Acer Predator 8 GT-810 ?

I can unlock the bootloader, unfortunately I need to compile TWRP to install the SU binaries. If anyone can point me in the right direction on how to compile TWRP for a device that no devs are working on, I would love to try to do this myself. Thanks!

Hi man,
You can visit the "Taiwan101 ROM Factory" of Facebook to ask he how to compile TWRP to install the SU binaries.
URL as below : .facebook.com/tw101.rom.factory/?fref=ts
Please add www at the .facebook.com/
so I cannot use "post outside links".
(To prevent spam on the XDA forums, ALL new users prevented from posting outside links in their messages. After approximately 10 posts, you will be able to post outside links. Thank you for understanding!)
And if you success root Acer GT-810, please help provide the Root Tool to me, thank you very much.:fingers-crossed:

I might have a way of easily flash TWRP, and install SuperSU, use the Temporary recovery project to boot temporarily into twrp and flashing supersu, theres an easy way of getting twrp permanently but ill try it when i get the tablet 31th of this month.
Also this temporary recovery does not require an unlocked bootloader since it uses a flaw in bootloader to load twrp, but it might be patched, just try it.

Perhaps this new found exploit can be used in rooting this tablet. http://arstechnica.com/security/201...tflips-to-root-android-phones-is-now-a-thing/

Hi, i am thinking of getting one for my son to replace his aging xoom. I want a tablet that can be rooted so I can get rid of bloat wire, not overly fussed about a rom.
I have googled rooting and came across a page How to root Acer Predator 8 GT-810 on androidrootmania.net
Has anyone tried any of these methods of root. Thankyou in advance for replies

it's okay, if you root Acer GT-810 successfully, please help me how to root it with root tool, Thank you very much.
I want use xposed on Acer GT-810.

I think its time to share at least some results, i was able to port TWRP 3.0.2 to this device AND ROOTING this device. ill leave twrp 3.0.2 here for who wants it. Please read all of the post.
=============================================================================================
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT ROOTING:
After flashing TWRP 3.0.2, use the SuperSU 2.46 flashable zip, do NOT use latest version or will result in a bootloop. Good Luck and have fun with rooting. Links on bottom of the post.
=============================================================================================
REQUIREMENTS
1- Unlocked Bootloader (search on google if you dont know how to unlock)
2- Drivers and Adb/Fastboot commands knowledge
=============================================================================================
New TWRP bugfix update! Now you can flash stock rom on TWRP without bricking! Download Page updated!
=============================================================================================
Bugs:
1- adb shell command needs to be sent before system partition is mounted or it will give an error, after doing adb shell you can mount system and do all the modifications you need.
2- You cant flash any img on twrp it gives an error, im trying to fix.
3- Backups do work, but everytime twrp restarts, the device name seems to change (which means that on /TWRP/BACKUPS/devicename/backupsinside/ changes every reboot so you have to go get the backup inside the old devicename folder and put on the new devicename folder).
=============================================================================================
Im leaving an unsecured boot image because system seems not want to boot android if anything seems changed. So please if system does not boot after flashing twrp/rooting, flash the unsecured boot img on fastboot.
=============================================================================================
Also im asking just a little bit of your time to request our device to have our own forum threads as it will make it a lot easier to manage the development and make it easier for people with same device to find it, request it here, the more people the better the higher chances we get to see a forum thread for our device: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660354
=============================================================================================

Dont forget to press thanks if i helped you. Im also sorry if its a bit messed up the explanation, its hard when theres no specific threads for the device.

Hi Ruben mind posting a step-by-step guide? How do you flash the TWRP? And which .img file in your shared zip file should we use?

on this thread simply scroll up and you should see it, its saying what bugs and names of the images are pretty straightforward.. flash the unsecured boot (its names osmething like that), and flash the TWRP.img, the root you will have to search on google for version 2.46, if u use the latest you will have bootloop

MT2L03 on 5.1.... how to root?

Just updated from 4.3 to 5.1 so I can get CarbonROM, and can't seem to find how to root it now. Kingo worked fine when it was on 4.3 if I'm not mistaken (I've rooted 6 devices since then, so I may be misremembering, haha). Now, it's no longer supported. KingRoot and Towelroot have also failed. I've been googling and trying to find the answer, but all I'm getting are the above methods, for 4.3. If I've completely overlooked something and am asking a dumb question here, then please forgive me. I'd appreciate at least a web link in the right direction if that's the case, or if this is a valid question then I'd love if I could get a bit of a walkthrough with this. Currently, I'm running the stock ROM, unlocked bootloader, stock recovery... which was needed because I had to update

ah, nice!! thanks dude, I'm new to the custom ROM scene and didn't know that was even a possibility. I really appreciate the help!
And to benefit others who searched and reached this thread, beside build in root in CM, for all ROM, you can always install SuperSu.zip in twrp to gain root. The detail is in the INDEX page root section.

Good idea.
Rooting 5.1 ham2
Download the mt2 l03 twrp image to your pc's adb folder on your hard drive
open command prompt from inside the adb folder. I believe its 'shift' and 'right click' mouse
then connect your device and run the fastboot twrp commands
twrp will root your ham 2
this all presumes that you've unlocked your bootloader
This post by @ArkAngel06 should be able to help it has Pretty much everything you need to install TWRP. It can be found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61802299&postcount=2 . Just look for the link titled TWRP for Mate2. I would suggest downloading the newest version of TWRP that's compatible with the Carbon, Cyanogen and PAC if you wanted to install them later on, Just rename the file twrp like the one in the folder and replace the one in the folder with the one that you downloaded. The new TWRP can be found at http://android.cmphys.com/twrp-mt2/ . Then just follow the instructions in the folder to install TWRP and SuperSU .

[GUIDE]How to root LG G Watch on 6.0.1 with squashfs

This is just a mirror to my original thread on superSU
Make sure you have adb installed either via the sdk or adb minimal
Here is a guide for anyone running android wear 6.0.1 on rooting
(from PC)
1.Unlock the bootloader if not already unlocked
(Make sure to boot to system and set up device after unlocking bootloader otherwise broken kernel! )
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem unlock
2.flash THIS TWRP onto the watch MAKE SURE TO USE THIS ONE!(current official cannot mount squashfs system)
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img
3.Download special SuperSU here with busybox YDS included HERE and move it to watch with adb push to /sdcard while TWRP is booted and then install as normal zip
Code:
adb push nameofzip.zip /sdcard/
4.Boot watch to system (ignore TWRP message of no OS installed) Now your root apps from 5.1 should work perfect
REMEMBER squashfs is read only even with root so don't bother trying to modify system files like the build.prop
If you would like to change pixel density perform this command in either adb shell or a terminal emulator:
Code:
wm density <dpi>
Please leave thanks if it helped!
New Update!
updated to superSU 2.79
reverted to previous busybox due to incompatibility

I read in your other thread that you have your own version of TWRP? The 3.0.0.0 version I got from twrp.me doesn't seem to flash your supersu zip properly. Or at least I don't have a busybox app installed on my watch after flashing the zip.

EDIT: Second time is the charm I guess. Thanks for nobody screaming at me and calling me a nub!

Yeahhh I figured that out after a while. My knowledge with rooting android wear is very limited at the moment. I've read as much as I could in one night lol. After figuring everything out with twrp/rooting I know have root and everything is going smoothly. Thanks for the tut!
okay, i used ur tutorial... fastboot flashed the twrp and pushed the supersu via adb to the sd... installed the zip via twrp... on leaving twrp it says "no os installed"... when i try to reboot the system it always just boots straight into twrp

OS missing is just fault of twrp not me besides it's meaningless error it simply cannot write to system so it assumes it those not exist. Everything you need is there apart from adb but just get adb minimal from XDA. With my method there is no risk of a paperweight it only touches recovery and kernel which both can be easily replaced. The only thing that can really kill a phone is a messed up bootloader update/mod. I have taken everything posters said into account and updated accordingly. Originally I just wrote what worked for me but now I updated it for universal use
Thanks for the reply & clarificartion.. you say 1.Unlock the bootloader if not already unlocked
(Make sure to set up device after unlocking bootloader otherwise no boot!) does that mean after unlock it will reboot into OS and you perform language setup & pairing ? or after its done the unlock it go's straight into os for setup ?

After unlocking go straight to OS and setup because rooting with an empty data partition breaks the kernel
Do you reboot or does just go straight in ?

LG G Pad X2 8.0 Plus T-Mo LG-V530

I know this isn't the correct forum but I've searched and haven't found anything and since this seems to be the closet device I was wondering if there is any development for this device yet or any rooting methods that may work

Thanks. I couldn't even get that far. Don't get me wrong it's a nice device but I'm sure a custom ROM would make it fly. Hopefully soon as more people get the device we'll see some development.
First thing first. Bootloader commands must be there.
If so, you just need TWRP
I'd also be very interested in rooting/custom rom for this device, as I moved to it from my Nexus 7 2013 that was very much showing it's age. It's almost painful being on a stock rom from a 3rd party at this point. I've searched through google and nobody seems to be taking much interest in this device. The same was true for the original xperia z tablet and it's got official lineageos support, so I remain hopeful.

I am having problems even booting into bootloader on this thing. I was able to boot into recovery mode but can't get out of the "no commands".
adb reboot recovery
adb reboot bootloader -> just reboots it.
It might be possible to use dirtyc0w exploit to get root access on this tablet.(nvm it seems our android version is already patched for that. )
I too have been able to get the bootloader unlocked but unable to find a version of TWRP or find any rooting tool that supports this device. Still holding out hope but this doesn't seem to be a super popular device :/
Hey guys! I bricked my tab and i need a stock kdz or system, recovery and boot.imgs! Does anyone have or can pull these file for me thanks in advance!
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I have rooted mine..if I had the stock system.img could you used that? This is what I did to obtain root..
Download the Lg download utility mode tool '''https://github.com/Lekensteyn/lglaf''
and the sources ''https://pycryptodome.readthedocs.io/en/latest/src/installation.html'
Then open cmd in the folder and execute: python lglaf.py --debug --rawshell --cr -c '!S sh' <--- there might be an error message or laf_acess_denied but its okay.
re-enter the command: python lglaf.py --debug --rawshell <--- this should open up an interactive shell..enter ls and see if it lists the files on the device then close the interactive shell
run python extract-partitions.py to get the stock boot.bin but change the file extension to .img
push the boot.img to the device, install magisk manager, patch the boot.img, pull img then flash with fastboot
Nice! We finally get root a couple days after a seemingly innocent fall off my bed wrecked my screen :crying:. Deciding on replacing it or getting a MediaPad M5.

Thanks to Vincent_vann I have root. With this I can finally start building a custom TWRP for this tablet. I wish we had a forum for this device. I requested one last year but it still hasn't been made even though it was approved. If I get one built, and there isn't a dedicated forum, I'll post it in this thread.
Just built TWRP. I noticed some folks asking for stock recovery, boot, and system img files. I have recovery and boot img. Not sure where to post these though. Same with twrp. If someone has any reccomendations on how to go about this I'll gladly provide.
I have the Canadian variant (v533) and wouldn't mind giving TWRP a whirl on it. All specs are same so I think it'll work. Don't mind testing if you do get somewhere to post TWRP. Also good job on getting it compiled ?

Thank you! Unfortunately with nougat file based encryption TWRP has issues with decrypting /data after the setup of the tablet. So it's working 50% which is annoying because you'll have to wipe data whenever you want to flash something. Not a big deal for roms, but very inconvenient for other zips. If you still want it let me know and I'll find a place. Else I'll be tackling the decryption issue this weekend.

I have the same phone, googled root/bootloader unlock instructions for it, haven't tried them yet since in my experience Straight Talk phones usually suck
I also have this phone and would like to root it does anyone know anything about it
Same here.. Hopefully someone can figure it out!!
Im trying to figure out how to root my TCL A501DL... they are like the same phone... cant figure it out. used every one click root tool... dont want to flash a random alcatel custom recovery or rom... idk what to do
Mdk easy root
try mediatek easy root
Mediatek easy root says it's successful, but doesn't actually give root access.
You have to find the build number of the phone. Once you do that tap it 6 times and it will take you into developer mode. THEN download kingo root and Whoop there it is!
As posted by Viva La Android in another thread about the tcl a501dl:
The TCL A1 (A501DL) cannot be bootloader unlocked. Although the OEM Unlocking option can be enabled in the Developer Options menu, fastboot mode has been made inaccessible by TCL. Because the bootloader cannot be unlocked, it simply is not possible to flash a custom recovery or a patched boot image for systemless root support. System-wide root is not possible due to TCL's secure boot chain configuration and dm-verity. Until an exploit is found to bootloader unlock this device, rooting is not possible.

Not sure if the stuff I'm working on will help the 502, but I have tested it the 501 successfully. I don't have access to a 502 in order to build anything for it.

My phone forced an OTA, lost root, easiest way to get it back?

My phone had been rooted via Magisk, some system update box kept coming up, but I kept tapping cancel as I didn't think it would work anyway. Yesterday, I'm not sure if it was forced or it tapped something in my pocket, but now it has installed the update, and *boom* I'm on Android 10. Build number V11.0.5.0.QFQEUXM. Root lost, everything else seems to work though. I have a notification from Magisk Manager that says update available! press to download and install.
Should I do that to regain root? Is that the safest way to do that? I have backups, but I'd rather not have to go through that faff. Thanks so much for your help! And this super useful forum! Thanks will be given also :fingers-crossed:

Should I do that to regain root? Is that the safest way to do that? I have backups, but I'd rather not have to go through that faff. Thanks so much for your help! And this super useful forum! Thanks will be given also :fingers-crossed:

The easiest way to re-root your phone is to follow the steps on this post here. However, there are no .img files for the last versions.
I need the fastboot for 11.0.19 Global

The guide you mentioned in your post also contains a link in which you can extract your own boot image and use that image to patch via Magisk to obtain root.
Here is the link: DUMP stock boot.img

Hi thanks for the link! It looks like I will use the TWRP and Magisk method, as there is less to go wrong. But the links on that post are from 2019, so I'm guessing they are not compatible with A10. I've found this post: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=82372895&postcount=139 to try to find some updated links, but the mirrors cannot be found

I used the steps from the same post for obtaining root on my stock Android 10 V11.0.14.0.QFQMIXM i.e. global version. Now I don't know whether it will work on V11.0.19 Global or not, but it should. I cannot test it now because I'm using EvolutionX Custom ROM now.
