390.51 out the door including 10 sim kit and you pay 15$ a month

That's odd that they say LTE. The FCC says they tested only HSPA+ which t-mobile calls 4G.
Thanks for the post though! This is helpful. Straight Talk is more expensive.

There doesn't seem to be a price deduction for the phone with the $15 plan. Assuming I'm reading it correctly.
So 350+15 for complete standalone.
Not something I would personally get

You only get it if you are a current post pay customer. If you're not, you be better off buying it off AT&T.

I am also guessing the $30 Walmart t-mobile plans don't count?

Why would it be better to buy it from AT&T? AT&T also requires that it be part of their plan. Now sure you can buy it in full than take it to T-Mobile but then no AWS bands right?
The only one that seems to let people get it with a plan without having previous coverage is T-Mobile and Sprint. T-Mobile is $15 and Sprint is $10. Though T-Mobile gives you more stuff.

I took the $15 plan with financing & $10 insurance since they told me I can upgrade for free when they release a new version after I was at least 1/2 done in financing.

Im confused how you are going to use spotify? Milk sucky service is on the watch but not spotify. Also LTE wont matter on such a small device. The one data app we can use is opera mobile. That hardly takes 3g to render fast images. Also you do know that the watch pan is waived for an entire year with sprint since thats whom you already have right? You dont have to pay a dime till Dec 2015. Im lost on your savings. Yes you saved $100 out right with tmobile by buying the watch up front but paying more in the end. Sprint i pay 0 down and $16 month for 24 months or till i pay $380. No service charges till at least dec 2015.

[Q] sprint vs. verizon

Ok, I'm confused.....i hear a lot of complaints by Sprint users..
i'm a premium member(10yrs) living in Jacksonville and I am considering an upgrade from Hero to 3D but i need the 4g speed or it's pointless to upgrade.
Is Verizon really that much better for strength?

Yes, Verizon LTE is the fastest right now.. but very expensive. I think they don't offer unlimited plan for LTE it will throttle you at 2 gig of data. But I'm not sure check their plan make sure you ask about unlimited LTE.

Once the lte market finally gets a few more phones it will be slow like wimax but it will still have better penetration

Agreed.
I think there are other reasons to upgrade besides the 4G however.
In my opinion, the Evo 3D will be so much more than just a 4G phone. Even without 4G service in your area, the Evo 3D will deliver on all other aspects. My main reason I'm getting it is in the hardware alone. 1.2 Ghz dual-core with 1 GB RAM. Plus, it's the fastest CPU on the market to date.
LTE roll out has been halted by the feds due to interference with GPS and other services. So it may be a while.
Plus, speaking as a Verizon person now, you're way better off on Sprint. If I got the exact same plan I have now but with the addition of unlimited 4g data and an extra smart phone on Sprint, it'd cost me $140 less per month.

Everywhere speeds will vary like always. I can't speak on Comcast speeds but I've heard they're fast. On average Sprint's 4G is around 3-6 mbps, I may be wrong. It is however slightly slower than LTE.

Verizon's 4G is currently unlimited, and costs the same as their 3G data plans (no extra fee) contrary to prior posts in thread. All indications are that it won't be much longer though. The real kicker for anyone enthused for the evo3d is that no mention of a similarly spec'ed HTC device on Verizon at the moment...I'd give it 50/50 for appearing by late in the year.

If you want truly unlimited everything with Verizon, your total cost would be $119.98 before taxes or any other fees. That's $89.99 for talk and text, and another $29.99 for data. For the moment, they aren't charging any additional for 4G data on the T-bolt. But, they do cap all their customers at 5GB of data per month. It's all in the fine print.
"Verizon Wireless strives to provide customers the best experience when using our network, a shared resource among tens of millions of customers. To help achieve this, if you use an extraordinary amount of data and fall within the top 5% of Verizon Wireless data users we may reduce your data throughput speeds periodically for the remainder of your then current and immediately following billing cycle to ensure high quality network performance for other users at locations and times of peak demand. Our proactive management of the Verizon Wireless network is designed to ensure that the remaining 95% of data customers aren't negatively affected by the inordinate data consumption of just a few users."
You can choose a plan that gives you 900 minutes total, and unlimited calling to any 5 numbers you choose, along with unlimited text and data, for a total of $109.98. That might be the most comparable to the Sprint Everything Data plan. Which is 450 minutes total, but free calls to ANY mobile on ANY carrier, and also has unlimited text and data. The difference is, this is $69.99 from Sprint, with a $10 data charge, for a total of $79.99 before tax and fees.
And, Sprint is truly unlimited. Some users in the Evo 4g forum said that when they got to 35gb in one month, Sprint moved them to the slower connection speeds until a new bill cycle started. Verizon does this at 5gb.
Here is the pricing breakdown:
Sprint vs. Verizon
$99.99 vs $119.98 = Unlimited
$79.99 vs $109.98 = minutes, plus free calls to mobiles
Apples to apples is hard to compare, but for the price, Sprint is a lot more affordable. And the service will be comparable. When it comes to calling and 3g, Sprint roams on verizon towers anyway, and since you are unlimited, you can roam without penalties. I know this from experience.
My vote, stick with Sprint.
@ Bradleyw801.....actually i'm on the 69.99 450 minutes and unlimited everything else with the Hero...I dont want to pay more for Comcast high speed if I can upgrade $10 more with sprint to get 4G.
I think I'll stay with Sprint....thanks.
Sprint is a lot cheaper. Using the everything plus referral program -- everyone has access to this through the russ.s.mcguire email address -- you can get 500 minutes and everything else for $60 a month. Also, if you need a family plan you can get a much better deal. I pay about $48 for roughly 1000 minutes on my family shared plan.
If you're clever you can route calls via 3g though a hosted PBX box/Google voice and not pay for minutes -- or pay about $4-6 dollars a month with a service like Vitelity. I tried to get a data only plan from Sprint, but they wouldn't give it to me. Apparently you need to prove that you're deaf.
Verizon is the better network, but Sprint is dramatically cheaper. Also, Verizon's idea of unlimited 4g is 10gb per month; not quite unlimited.

I'm averaging 6-8mbps in downtown Chicago. I can't complain about that. Verizon's LTE is not much faster plus once their LTE coverage gets a little more saturated the speeds will come down. That was the same when Sprint first released WIMAX in chicago. We got very fast speeds from their first 4G data card until more devices started coming out. Either carrier has been good to me as far as service goes but it all comes down to Sprint being a cheaper option. I pay $81 a month, including taxes and fees, after my corporate discount on Sprint.

StraightTalk on GalaxyNote(i717)

I am not a fan of contracts, especially since it cost ~$100/month(3GB/unlimited txt/talk) and $300 down ~ about $2,700 for two years for a galaxy note at at&t).
But... I really wanted a at&t's Galaxy Note. So here is what I did - I went to AmazonWireless and purchased an ATTi717 without contract for $700. After hearing about the low price for unlimited data/talk/text, I went to Straight talk and purchased a sim card with the 45$ unlimited plan(they have discounts for bulk purchases). This results in about $1,780 for two years without contract.
For some reason, I just couldn't get the data plan to work correctly(strange enough, youtube worked). After hours of research and being stuck without data, I decided to unlock, go root, flashed cwm, and flash various ROMs. Finally, I found one that worked that gave me full functionality.

you ended up saving 200 dollars over the span of 2 years. thats not worth it to me.
but others may see it as a plus.
It amazes me that at&t charges so much and yet you can get virtually the same service through a MVNO that uses their network for much less.
LMAO!! All that hassle to save $8.33 a month over 2 years! Oh well, guess it's worth it for some people.

Actually, you can save up to $360 for 2 years if you buy the 1 year bulk from straight talk.
In addition, you are not locked into a contract. This is a BIG plus for someone like me who sells/buy/change Android devices all the time.
Galaxy Note hands down best smartphone tablet so far! Think I will stick with this one for a while.

Can you pull a few speed tests for us? Prepaid carriers have always been kind of screwed with what they can do on the networks. The "use atts network" but they are relegated to the prepaid network which typically means less coverage, data speeds, and more likelihood of dropping calls in a high att contract area

What speeds do you guys get on your LTE and/or 3G?
Where can I sign up for unlimited everything with AT&T for $70 bucs? I'm not talking about some plan thats not available anymore but a plan I can get now..
I went to AT&T.com and picked the Note with an unlimited minutes/texting/3gig data/insurance
The bill comes to $126.99 a month and thats not including all the BS fees tacked on at the end..So we'll just say $130 a month..
2 years = $3120
cost of phone= $150 (its 300 but hell ill cut a break here)
total = $3270
Straight Talk unlimited
2 years = $1080
cost of phone = $700
2 years insurance= $120
total = $1900
Yeah I'll save $1370 over 2 years and be able to sell the unbranded/unlocked phone for more at the end on ebay.
I love Straight Talk been using it on ATT phones since the Nokia Swap started I use about 7-8 gigs a month and it cost me 45 better then the att 2 gig cap
What would have happened if you had bought the Note for $149 during the promo period, buy out your contract after a month and pay $324? You could have had the phone for $473. That would be another $227 saved (plus the cost for 1 month of AT&T contract service) instead of buying it from Amazon at full price.
Sometimes you can save even more on the monthly if you buy the 6 month or 1 year prepaid cards from Amazon or eBay, which sometimes sells it less than buying it direct Straight Talk.

Don't forget a major blow to your credit score. Everytime you sign up for a contract and fail to complete its service agreement of x-yrs(i.e. cancellation) your credit score goes down. Might as well open a chase checking account for the bonus rewards then close it if thats the case...

I think that is the pricing that all the phone providers are looking to be at. Any more then 10 bucks a month and people will not go for it as that is the same price as normal cell phone.
Nice find atleast hear something

So I walked into a Sprint Corporate store yesterday morning to inquire about the Gear S and phone combo. The employees were not even aware that it was coming Nov 7 I kindly reminded them it was announced on sprints website and all over the internet. One employee told me if it were coming out this Friday the store would brief them on Wednesday. The other employee told me that the Gear S will have it's own phone number. While another told me it is Bluetooth only. I said this all to say they are clueless and I'm still left wondering how Sprint will deal with this uicc card in the Gear S as LTE will not be available for this. I also called Sprint Sales Center they had no Idea the watch was coming to the USA so soon.
Thats crazy. I myself went into best buy spoke to a Samsung employee and he didnt know that it was coming out this week.

Consigning, I've called five Verizon and four Best Buy stores and they have no clue when they will receive or sale the watch. There were some Samsung reps at Best Buy who never heard of the watch. Really? How is that possible?
I had a long chat with the T-mobile rep who sold me the Gear Circle. He said they are selling the watches this Sunday, 9 November. If Verizon or Best Buy doesn't come through I will purchase the watch outright from T-mobile and put a Verizon sim in it later. I want the watch NOW!

It's our watch and we want it now lol. Yes If t-mobile will allow me to pay the 350 plus taxes with no contract I will gladly pair it to my Note 4 Sprint. I don't plan to use the standalone internet i will bluetooth tether the gear S. and forward my calls when I want to leave the phone at home.

FYI, Verizon SIM only works for LTE. Since, Gear S doesn't appear to support LTE, that will be useless. And probably will never work because you will need CDMA hardware inside and with CDMA, the ESN of the watch must be already registered with the carrier.

I'm pretty sure the watch will need to have an active SIM to work with receiving calls when your phone is not near.

I read the calls will be forward to the watch when you leave your phone at home. Other wise the gear will have a separate number for the phone and there will be no need to pair the phone besides downloading apps. Sprint does not have SIM cards they have uicc cards that give LTE only which the Gear S will not have.

I have unlimited on my phone and they expect me to pay 10$ month for 2 years for some minutes and text on a watch. Or get off my unlimited and move to family to share my data with my watch hum.. no thanks to on contract
F U Sprint I just walked out of AT&T with my Gear S off contract no way I would pay 416$ (384 plus tax)
when I just paid 325.49 (299 plus tax) Although I still have my Note 4 with Sprint

JUST IN CASE YOUR WONDERING
So I had a long confusing talk with Sprint this morning and the Sales Rep say's this there are 2 options for Sprint right now either or you add it to you Family Share plan (As long as it has 20GB or more to share). The gear has its own NUMBER. If you use all of the 100MB before the month is up they will Suspend your Gear S until you pay the overages or just wait for next month to pay again. When your phone is at home the Gears Number, messaging and data will be used . It is considered a mini phone. So if you have unlimited everything your watch will have a mintues/text plan of 1,000 100GB internet. It is best to use Bluetooth a lot. Unless you don't use internet if you want to cancel your plan from watch (9.99 a month for 2 years) 200$ cancellation fee
so happy i'm with t-mobile. they're treating the device like a tablet . if you go over your data it will just slow down, they won't charge you extra

That would make more sense for all carriers to do right. Do you know how much t-mobile is for outright? I may return this to AT&T and buy t-mobile to get free data for life lol thats what they advertize anyway
So I work at an AT&T store but I have Sprint service on my Note 3 because I need unlimited. Can I buy the watch from my AT&T for a discounted price and still put it on my Sprint plan for $10/month or is the watch carrier locked to AT&T then? I can get it from my store for under $300 after taxes with my discount, but I want it to work with Sprint service on it and I didn't think that was possible. Can someone clear this up for me please?
All US Gear S watches are carrier locked. Even it is not locked, you can't use a GSM(AT&T) phone on CDMA(Sprint) network. That will never happen.

Sadly we've preliminarily determined that it does not use the hybrid GSM/CDMA architecture, even though it's chipset supports it. There have been no teardowns and no root yet, so we don't know what the radios include. The FCC documents say that there are at least two completely separate versions, one for GSM (AT&T/T-Mobile) and another for CDMA (Verizon/Sprint). They were tested separately and there was nothing indicating that they had hybrid radios.
Just have to wait until they get opened up.
It was a bad move on Samsung's part ...

Wonder if us on the Unlimited Family Sprint plan would qualify for the waiving of the $10/mo
I like the ATT price but I wonder if samsung will make a new version after a year. If the due I will be stuck under contract for another year. While I dont always jump and get the newest devices, I dont like the idea of being under a contract for 2 years. I may be ok and just may be over thinking it. Maybe I can just pay my way out of the contract if they do come out with a new version.

I bank on samsung releasing another, and at the outright price this thing is coming out with ($3-400, I paid $300 for the original gear and feel comfortable around this price for these watches) I'll just buy the next one outright and swap the Sim, they can't force you to keep the same watch.
wow your right. I forgot all about that.

Sprint customers can purchase the Gear S for $0 down, and 24 monthly payments of $16 ($384 total), but will also have to pay an additional $10 per month on its Family Share Pack plan. However, Sprint is waiving the monthly fee through December 2015 if you sign up for a 20GB or higher Family Share Pack plan. However, the Gear S will use Sprint's 3G network, and not its LTE network.

I believe once the S6 comes out March or so the gear S2 or whatever they call it will be released as well Samsung is working on another version already. Hopefully the new version will include a camera that can use front face camera for skype/tango ect (wishful thinking I know but a dreamer can dream)
Guys and Gals talking about AT&T... I think what you have to be interested in is adding the $10/month for 24-months...or forever, haha. Once you take that jump of paying $10 a month for a smartwatch, you'll probably never go back right?
Its just like adding a data play to a tablet. The phone will need data to be able to get calls so Im ok with that.
Hi all, the Gear S is a 3G/2G device, it does not support LTE, therefore it won't work on LTE bands.

Does anyone know if the mini opera browser will work just using bluetooth connection not with a sim card?
Verizon Customer support told me...
The unit would be available 11/7/2104.
$399 off contract
$349 with a 2 year contact
$5 dollars a month.
I don't recall what $5 a months gets you in terms of data sorry.
I think i'll grab one. I have a Note 3 and if I like the watch I'll go for a Note 4. If I don't like the watch i'll go with a Nexus 6 or less likely a Droid Turbo.
Take care,
Flip

I called a brick and mortar store. They said it was true that Verizon would have them on Friday (11/7/2014) but they did not know if their actual store would get any. They told me to call back on 11/7/2014 because they never know what inventory their are going to get until the same day.
Happy hunting!
If Verizon is 400 off contract price, I think ATT will be the same. All in all I think I may just get on contract.
I hope your source is accurate. I called several Verizon stores and tweeted the VZW news and they have not received a release date. Same song and dance at Best Buy. I considered buying a t-mobile watch but learned that the watches are carrier specific. Sux! I'll ring them again on Friday morning to see if they have them in stock. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I suppose I need to take trip to my VZW store Friday and see. Unfortunately no money for the watch this month.
Just purchased my gear s from an Att store in Houston. Price is $299 w/o contract and $199 w/ 2 yrs contract. I chose the 2yrs contract as with my discount the line would $5/month on family share .

Verizon Wireless has stock!

So I just check and Verizon Wireless online has them in stock! Just ordered mine for delivery tomorrow. No local store near me.

Nope, it's got 3 keyboards. Standard qwerty, "Gear" qwerty that does some predictive typing, and numeric.

Whats the monthly cost of this? That is the only thing keeping me from buying it. I really don't think it is worth having to shell out $10 a month.
I found this on Verizon's site....
Connected Device Line Access on More Everything Plans: $5
© 2014 Samsung Telecommunications America, LLC. Samsung Gear S is a trademark of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd
The $5 is at least palatable. I don't have a More Everything Plan though. I am still on a grandfathered unlimited plan, so they might push me to move to a new plan if I paid full price for it. I think I am going to hold off and see how the reviews look and if I can get it for $5 a month on my existing plan if I pay full price.

Sounds like a plan if you pay full price you should be able to get the 5$ plan I believe they try to push you off the Unlimited if you sign the contract paying full price you can always cancel the plan later. But your grandfathered in so they should make you a good deal
+1. I ordered mine this morning. Should be here tomorrow before noon. Reading the manual now to kill some time. So stoked!
Unique - What's the word? Are you holding out until Sunday or did you order your watch already?

I have a Gear 2 as well right now so I am not in any rush.
I will pay attention to the reviews. If they are favorable AND I can retain my plan and get it for $5 a month, then I will probably pull the trigger eventually.
If anyone here has an unlimited data plan and isn't on the "more everything" plan, and gets the Gear S, let me know if you still can get this for $5 a month as an addon. I haven't heard anyone try to add one of these devices on an unlimited plan. Will they try to change your plan? So many questions, and these will be answered in time.
I just ordered one. I have to Jones it till Monday! I should have ordered one 1st thing this AM but I called around to Brick and Mortars and then I got busy. I would have liked to play with it over the weekend...I guess I waited 46 years for it so far...3 days more won't kill me....

5$ for the plan do you have to make payments on the watch? or just buy it outright in your case
Just to follow up...
I ordered from Verizon online...Free overnight shipping...So I'll get it Monday (today is a Friday). I called a Verizon store they only had one and BestBuy stores in the area did know what I was talking about.
I purchased it full price $399 and it added $5 per month to my Everything plan. I figured for 50 bucks I'd rather not be tied to a contract. On contract was $349..
