[Q] Missed Call Bug - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys
So my z2 has been plagued by this weird bug since I bought it. Basically every time I have a missed call the process com.android.phone crashes twice and I lose connectivity for a second.

I am on 4.4.4 rooted now, but it happened on 4.4.2 as well. Any idea on what might cause it?

Are you using any xposed modules? Could be the issue

I'm using these, but disabling them did nothing. Haven't tried a clean install yet(too lazy). I was just wondering if anyone had this bug.

I can't remember what caused it for me or how I fixed it but I'm sure it was one of the Xperia mods, from there the only module we have in common is gravity box tho. I assume you rebooted after disabling them?

I'm so glad that I found this post. I thought I was the only person having this exact issue. It ONLY occurs when I miss a call or if I clear a missed call notification.
I get this same error message:
Then I noticed, my status bar goes through a small cycle of events. I think this is where the answer may lie, but I have no idea what is causing it:
What you see above is the chronological order of how my status bar changes immediately after clearing the error message from the screen. It appears as if there is some sort of SIM card error only momentarily which then knocks me offline and then my phone reconnects.
It doesn't matter how long the time between the error message first appearing and when I clear it, the status bar always goes through this cycle. Basically, it doesn't appear to have anything to do with the actual phone call, it has to do with clearing this error. By the way, what I think is a SIM card with the red "X" on it appears on the screen for about 1 second before vanishing. The whole cycle lasts about 5 to 6 seconds. Also, notice that after the SIM card is gone, there is an open space between the icons on the status bar. Very strange.
These are the steps that I have taken to clear the error but to no avail:
1.) Rebooted my phone (many times)
2.) Cleared the phone app cache
3.) Booted into CWM and cleared the cache and the Dalvik cache
4.) (I use Xposed) Disabled all the modules and rebooted
5.) Diabled all the modules, booted into CWM, cleared the cache and the Dalvik cache and rebooted
My phone is a Sony Xperia Z3 compact:
Rooted running 4.4.4
Stamina mode is turned off
Running Xposed framework and several modules - one of them is Garvitybox
The following apps are installed with root access:
Busybox On Rails
Greenify
GSam Battery Monitor
ES File Explorer
ROM Toolbox Pro (nothing activated)
Secure Settings
SetCPU (1 profile set when screen turns off)
Tasker
Titanium Backup
Wakelock Detector
Xposed Installer (modules: AppOpsXposed, BootManager, GEM Xperia Xposed, GravityBox, Greenify, Xposed Macro Expand)
If any could please help to solve this error message I would greatly appreciate it.

I guess we just have to wait until Lollipop.

I think I found the solution. Are you using Titanium Backup? If you are, use one of the batch actions and "defrost" everything (unfreeze) on your device, reboot and the error should be gone. When I did the process manually and unfroze apps one by one it didn't work. But when I used the batch action it fixed the problem. Not sure why, but it's perfect now, no more errors!!!!

Thanks for the tip. I flashed a custom rom and the problem is gone for me.
They suggest turning off smart calling in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...enz-ultimate-1-0-5-light-dark-t2835196/page31, but I don't know if it will work in the stock version.

I think that @JJEgan meant- what tool did you use in order to root your device (CF-autoRoot, etc)
Anyway- is there a running app which uses root permissions other than Llama? If true- try to clean superSU log, reboot and see if Llama gets recognized by SuperSU.
if false- try to check other root apps, and if the issue stays the same- try to reflash root using newest CF-autoRoot (otherwise- reinstall Llama)

OK, thanks. I've cleaned the log and rebooted. I think SU recognizes Llama--from the way the error message is worded it appears it doesn't recognize it quickly enough to trigger the action.

Look in settings I think you can extend the time it takes for SU to recognize apps gaining root access...I'm using a rom with SU inbuilt and you can change the length of time it takes to detect not sure if the app version as that feature?

Thanks, Tallman
There's nothing that specifically refers to extending recognition times, but there are a couple that might apply: Re-authentication, enable during boot, Trust system user, etc--I'll give 'em a try.
Was this issue ever resolved? I'm getting the same problem.

I ran Llama fine on 4.2.2 stock for a year or so. When I switched to 4.4.2 WanamLite (stock less Knox) I started getting the message. I got SuperSU pro to enable logging.
My morning action turns airplane mode off, turns sync on, turns wifi on, then runs a bunch of things like facebook, email, etc to sync. I get the exclamation mark and the message at the top of the thread when this runs, or when the similar evening action runs. I'm getting the following log entries when it goes out of airplane mode (in approx these colors). Nothing in supersu says anything about delays.
1.
settings put global airplane_mode_on 0
exit
Warning: App_process has text relocations. This is wasting memory and is a security risk. Please fix.
2.
am broadcast
a android.intent.action.AIRPLANE_MODE -e llama.sender llama -e state false
exit
Warning: App_process has text relocations. This is wasting memory and is a security risk. Please fix.
Boradcasting: Intent (etc).
Broadcast completed: result=0
Ok, I have a solution or workaround, but not a full explanation.
It seems permissions and such have changed between 4.2.2 and 4.4.2 and Llama isn't compatible, or maybe it's just not possible. The trick is to use the secure settings app, and enable the System+ Module inside it. I think I also made Secure Settings a device admin, just in case, but unsure if that's required. Then go to the compatible apps tab and click llama help for instructions.
Basically, in Llama, instead of using the built in airplane mode commands you add an action "locale plugin", then choose "secure settings", "root actions", then "airplane mode". That lets you turn it on, off, or toggle.
If you purchase secure settings pro (about $1.50, in-app purchase via google play) you get access to a shutdown and reboot command. I can't find any other way to do this - even via a shell where you can usually do it the shutdown/reboot commands don't seem to be there.
Sorted!
Same problem here with a Moto X with root and it shows up as having root access in SuperSu.

[Q][Solved] CM12 Theme not applied for systemUI components

Noob friendly method

HI
Navigation bar, Notification drawer, Quick settings toggle wont theme
now im facing this issue 2nd time. is there any way/workaround to make it works without formatting the data partition
Had this issue few days back sorted out by clean flashing the rom.
again the issue appears. loosing the entire data partition is not a feasible method to make it work
Any help/inputs appreciated
Tried the following nothing works
clearing data of theme manager and provider
clearing data of systemUI
Clearing data of data/system/theme
Wipe cache and dalvik
Clean flash is the only known solution right now. You don't have to format data to clean flash.
You would just need to restore apps from Titanium (or other) and your theme will stick to all UI components.

Hi, I had the same problem yesterday.
I try the same that you say and doesn´t work.
Hours before that problem begins y made a settings backup of rom with app called "ROM Settings Backup" (by developer Daniel Huber on google play).
When y restore the backup and reboot my phone the problem was solved (when y change theme everything is themed).
Some things that you can try:
- Install the app, make a backup, restore the backup, reboot and change theme.
- I think that this app only makes a settings.apk or settingsProvider.apk backup. You can try to delete data of this apps with TitaniumBackup, for example (make a backup before and you can restore if doesn´t work).
- You can try to update to newer nightly build.
If some word or expression is wrong sorry, i am from Spain
Regards.

Fair enough. Try this:
When you're restoring from Titanium, restore everything except both settings (bluetooth, wallpaper). I posted this this workaround a while back and seemed to have work.

How to overcome(Do not use this method. easy method is available)
Here is the workaround (pretty big but better than the data wipe method) based on @SergioSanchezR input
Requirements
Custom Recovery (TWRP/CWM/Philz)
ROM Settings Backup (RSB)
Existing Rom.zip file (if you are on CM12 ROM you should have a CM12 Flashable zip )
How to do it(1 time activity)
Install RSB and take a backup of your current settings (optional)
Boot in to recovery take a Nandroid Backup
Clean flash your existing Rom / Factory reset can also be done (its upto you)
Boot into the fresh rom and install RSB(ive attached apk)
Take a backup in rom setting backup (let us call it RSBackup_New)
Reboot to recovery and restore the Nandroid Backup
Install RSB and restore RSBackup_New
Reboot and apply your favourite theme
Cons
Device ID will be changed once you restore the SettingsBackup it can be changed in TitaniumBackup
Setting preference will be reset
Pros
SettingsBackup can be restored without data wipe when the Theme issue reappears

as far as amplify, the module will need an update i believe. it should have pulled some wakelocks by now, and still shows none. these issues are to be expected with some modules as described by rovo89.
g3 tweaksbox is not compatible with L, fyi
I agree about amplify incompatibility - it runs but no wakelocks are registering. I'm at about 50%(4 of 8) of module functionality. I'm sure things will work better in time when devs push updates out, but 50% is still a good start. :good:
Anyone here happen to be running a CM12 nightly? No luck here getting xposed to work on mine so far....flashed the zip and installed the apk, then modules and reboots, and the modules and app still give errors saying it's not installed. Even succeeded in getting the app to prompt me for root which I granted, and refreshed the zip in recovery immediately afterwards and still nothing. Same error as a bunch of people posted on the main thread, esp. in the first few pages that I saw.

I ended up changing my selinux status(not sure if I had to but saw it in a post), installing the apk, rebooting into recovery and flashing the zip, then once it booted up I opened the xposed installer and under 'framework' choose soft reboot. The error message went away after it rebooted and my modules installed after that, but only if I did a soft reboot. Anytime I did a full reboot my modules stopped functioning until I soft rebooted again. Error messages still appear but the modules do actually work.
I'm on blisspop so hopefully cm has the same solution for you. Good luck.

Very interesting, well thanks for the heads up! I'll have to try this out.
If you read rovo's comments, you will find him saying there are some false errors that will get fixed eventually. This is an alpha build to get all the issues that need to be fixed reported so he can work them out before he releases the stable build.
Startswith is correct, here is the link to the post with the work around (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58839832&postcount=854)
It has been confirmed by other G3 users to be working. :good:

Either way...as long as one of these methods works its all good
For sh*ts and giggles I downloaded illusion 5.5 which is permissive by default, set it to enforcing, and xposed will not work...
Once I set it back to permissive it worked again.
yep
op updated with a stock (when we get L) workaround if not fixed by then.
Amplify has been updated to work with LP now. If that was mentioned already I do apologize.

The download option for decrypted Videos such as Music Videos is broken now, since YouTube changed something on it
It will be fixed on the next update

Does MicroG have to be installed for users with rooted phones that do not have the Exposed framework installed? The download section on http://ogmods.net/home/OGYoutube does not specifically state if MicroG is needed for rooted, non-rooted or both.
Thanks!

Hello, thank you for this mod, i have encountered some bugs with the app, I'm using a Galaxy S7, not rooted.
-although i have selected to open with my subscriptions it always opens with recommended
-i can't select or modify the video/audio downloads folder location
- when i switch to another app, the audio stops playing, even if the background playback is checked.
-sometimes, when i open the app i get an error (screenshot), i have to swipe the app from the recents and open it again.
-when i resume the video from background it's black, is this normal?
As a feature request, could it be possible to add an 'x' to close the app from the notification drawer when it is playing in background ? Thanks.

Hello. With previous and current version, when I send a downloaded video through Whatsapp, the other person tells me that it can't be played. Which download format should I use? Thanks!

I do have occasional black screen but it's just a matter of pausing playback for a few seconds and resuming - like it was a audio/video resync issue... not sure it's really OGYT problem rather than YT...
If it's returning to normal mode that you meant, use the recent apps list instead of pressing the notification panel.

2 suggestions for @OGMods:
1) could an option to turn off audio notifications be added?
My intent connection is often not too stable and I see downloads frequently stop (and I have to manually go press tge resume option from downloads) and each time, it's 2 or 3 notification chirps and it gets very annoying.
2) related to the above, could an option for auto-resume on paused download be included? At least one that would do so when the app is still in use would be very nice.
Otherwise, thanks for your mod.
Odd. All of a sudden, this morning I get a continuous network error on OGYT despite both mobile and wifi working.

Here's the error message when I try to sign in after logging out of the app. It occurs on both standalone and rooted OGYT 2.0. I have microG and OG Xposed installed for both tests, and the app was working fine last night but not when I woke up this morning.

What does it means that you can not install?
What appends? Which errors are shown?
You should give more details, in order to receive help ?

Xposed framework for (N) and Gravity box for (N)

Hey fellow P10 owners, xposed framework is already out for Nougat and if anyone is interested here is the link for the download https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811 . I have tried it out and it hasn't given me any issues so far, I had Amplify before in another phone since it needs this framework to work i decided to give it a try. Also Gravity box for Nougat is also in Alfa and some things are working ok on the P10 like center clock, modify the navigation keys also the Swype gesture on the finger reader can be reworked at some extent. It hasn't caused any bootloops so far, some issues with gravity box is when changing themes it makes it crash for which you have to uninstall and install the app again, either way it still and Alfa so be aware of some bugs. Here is the link for gravity box https://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/app-gravitybox-v7-0-0-tweak-box-android-t3653953 big shouts and thanks for the developers of xposed framework and also gravity box all credits to them!

By the way your phone does need to be rooted! I would recommend using https://forum.xda-developers.com/p10/development/rom-fromfuture-stock-rom-b164-t3657812
Big thanks to @Blackball for this Rom. This Rom is already root which makes it perfect and also it has the latest update for the P10!

You can get it but it would be the swipe kind of gesture. The same movement you would on the fingerprint key for recents but twice, you can get the last used app future like that .

I'm running 88.1, now it's a bit buggy at times, just flash the zip in TWRP and reboot from the link that's provided in the op. I'm either case of it doesn't work just used the unistaller remember to have root privilege.
Now greenify is not really working for some reason it doesn't show as turn on in the app but it does in Xposed.

You can do it via magisk, just get the latest beta 14.3 and then look for Xposed systemless from topjohnwu

Cannot get Xposed to work (not active)
Hi,
I'm on fRomFuture B171 with Magisk 14.3 beta and the Xposed SDK 24 module, but I can't seem to get it to work.
I rebooted after installation through Magisk but Xposed Installer (3.1.2 by dvdandroid) tells me Xposed is installed but not active.
Soft rebooted through Xposed, same issue.
I also tried uninstalling from Magisk and flashing 88.1 through TWRP, but to no avail. I flashed the uninstaller first.
I looked through /data/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer but couldn't make out any solutions (Xposed doesn't log either).
Aforementioned folder has permissions fixed (0777), root is available and working.
Do I miss something?
Uninstall the app and module reboot to recovery clean dalvik and cache, now reboot, install module, and reboot install app from topjohnwu and now you should see the module active don't reboot from the apps when ever you activate a module just press the power button and do from there.

Just got home and tried this, it's working now! Awesome.
Thanks so much.
EDIT: Okay, so I enabled some modules (Boot Manager, InstallerOpt, Xposed Torch) and restarted.
I tested, it worked, then I restarted again (from the power menu) resulting in the same issue.
(Framework v 88.1 (Systemless by topjohnwu) is installed, but not active).
Xposed still doesn't log :/
Triple EDIT ftl:
Restarted again, it works again... But I can't yet make out a pattern
Ok so the thing is that the bug that it's having is related to the restart, if you have a module active and you reboot the phone it will break the module so you have to unchecked and check the modules again and reboot, I have done many testings and for me it seems the issue is that the xposed framework breaks after a reboot.

@lil_kujo
Seems the most likely. Pretty inconvenient, but it will have to do for now.
Also, is there any chance that the 88.2 update that is present within Xposed Installer solves this issue?
I'm afraid to update right now since it's barely working.

Didn't work for me. Would reset to unticked on reboot /power-off & on and Xposed still wouldn't show logs.

Just tried again but it's the same, selections unticked and no logs.
It's not too bad, I only wanted Xposed logs for troubleshooting, but since powering off & on instead of restarting, Xposed works just fine.
Thanks for the help though
