[Q] Can I recover an email password from the K9 mail app? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an email account (gmail) that I have since forgotten the password too. I set it up and immediately put the credentials in K9, then never accessed the account from a browser again. Well recently I've needed to get in to it but I can't. I have tried recovering the email through google's forgotten password thing, but it doesn't work (it was set up with very generic, and scarce information). I know the password is stored in K9 and still working, so I was direly hoping I can get the password from this.
Please, any and all ideas are greatly welcomed. I appreciate any and all help as well. Thanks.

Gmail IMAP on VZW TP

So I've searched all the threads, googled everything, and tried for days to get it working, but no luck.
Has anyone out there had any success with gmail and IMAP setup? I'm on a stock ROM with VZW. IMAP works fine with my work email address, and I've followed the steps from the google wiki, but no luck.
Any suggestions or help is Much appreciated!! Thank You!!
Here's the Google wiki imap info setup:
https://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=78886
(oh, and my specific error is "Messages cannot be downloaded to your mobile device. Make sure you are connected and that your email account settings are correct. Then, try to download messages again." I have of course gone through the setup numerous times double and triple checking the directions and my account info.) Thanks!
Well, after going to all of the effort to post, it looks like I have it working. I just started from scratch and created a third IMAP account for gmail with the same settings, and this time it worked!! I don't know the variable... I deleted the bad account and now all is well. Thank you to all who read and I'm lovin xda, thank you!
Well, if it makes you feel any better, I had the same problem with a Yahoo! business email account. It took several attempts using the same settings to get the emails to come through. Third time really is the charm. I know I didn't add information to the thread, but at least I know I wasn't alone with this issue
Maybe someone else can reply who knows what we may have done wrong so in the future, this won't happen.

[Q] Password Reveal

Hi There,
I have been running two gmail accounts on my HD2 for around 4 months now, and for some reason one of them isn't working. I have the passwords saved for each, and I need to retrieve the password from one but whenever I go to the settings the saved password is all in asterisks.
Obviously this is for security, and i'm assuming there is no way to reveal the password on the phone (or is there?). I was wondering if it is smart enough to recognise that it is connected to my homebase computer, and if that will allow me to access the saved passwords?
I've been looking for things like keychains etc, but I can't find anything.
Your help is very much appreciated,
Thelonius_
just rest the password through the emai account if it is youre account !!
Hi again,
Demon Man, while i'm greatful for your help, it doesn't answer my question. I should have mentioned that I am trying to avoid resetting my password. I think the issue is with my phone, not with my email account.
Is it at all possible to reveal the password or find the password stored in my phone through my PC?

No. If you know the password, you can just retype it in and resave it. If you are fishing for a way to break into someone else's email through their phone, you won't get any help here.

Sorry…Your username and password do not match

Hi guys,
I can login to Gmail.com on any desktop/mobile browser however whenever I try to add a Google Account on my phone, I get this error:
“ Sorry…Your username and password do not match. Please try again. (To recover your account information, go to http://google.co.uk/accounts on your computer.)"
I have tried changing the password but its still the same. I know its not a password issue as I can login to google.com on my desktop and laptop.
I also went to this site and tried to add a Google account but it did not work.
Tried setting up a different Google ID and it worked right away. So it looks like there has to be some issue with my Google ID.
I have no idea how it happened as it was working fine until I reset my phone.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Dinesh

Everything related to Google are the same as the ones on your computer. It's hard to believe that you can't retrieve your gmail password...

my request is not related to google, but to all other password existing in my phone (es. dropbox, facebook, evernote etc. etc. etc.).
simply a most convenient way to find all the password in one shot
Again, all those apps have the same password then the ones on your computer.
I'm just going to close this one before it gets out of hand.
