Yeah no updates till now, they rolled 4.4.3 but pulled it due to battery drain problems with OTA, but if u flash the 4.4.3 RUU you won't have any problems, or just wait till they roll 4.4.4

I'm sure you've heard from even friends you know to Google things.
Anything that's mentioned in any thread on XDA just put into your search bar or Google now "OK Google" and you will begin to learn all about that bad ass device you hold in your hand.I also recommend either the XDA app or Tapatalk app for easier navigation of the forums you may view.

Unless on att as a carrier you wont get any updates from them, best bet is to soff change cid and flash us developer ruu 3.28.1540.5

I believe what he's saying is that if you have an unlocked (international) version of the M8 you wont get updates from AT&T just because that's the carrier you're using. You'll get the international models updates.

So I bought the device from some guy from Canada
it's unlocked at&t device (I'm not at&t carrier)
This is why you wont get updates from att, your not on their network, doesnt matter if phone is att based, the updates come from the carrier your using. Unlocked/US Developer devices are different they are supported directly ftom htc not a specific carrier. If your cid is CWS__001, You have an ATT branded phone, unlocked or not you wouldnt get any updates from ATT.

So what you suggest me ?
Can I change it not to be at&t? If I can I'll be happy for some
quick understandable guide please.

Look in the at&t development section and you will find a guide for either "Dev edition" or "GPE" conversion .good luck with
S-OFF

Not that one is better so much as what you prefer.I like the light bare bone AOSP of GPE .the Dev edition is still sense and it's supposed to get updates faster than carriers like at&t,T-Mobile

Would Installing An "International" RUU Make My Phone Better?

Hi, I'm new to this device, as a matter of fact I don't have it yet, its in the mail....I purchased an HTC ONE Google Edition At&t phone and am going to use it on Straight Talk. I had a HOX+ but couldn't get WiFi tether to work and tried multiple Roms and other advice. Anyway, I was encouraged to get the ONE because there is a lot more development on it. I was wondering if I first UNLOCK the device from its carrier and ROOT it and get S-OFF, could I install an "International" RUU and firmware to get rid of any preconfigured settings to At&t and not COMPLETELY RUIN my device and still have LTE ?

By unlocking you mean from the carrier? If you update, you should receive the update from the carrier you are on.

After relocking you will (Bootloader). I am putting one of my One's on E-Bay, all the work is already done, S-Off, Dev edition RUU, 32 gig ATT version with the media thing. PM me if you are interested, it is going on tonight for shipping to US only. Very good condition, original box.

If by unlocked you mean the bootloader, then no you wont get OTA with an unlocked bootloader. If you mean unlocked as in the international M8 then yes you would get OTA.

False. OTA will work fine with unlocked bootloader. But you need to have custom recovery and no system files altered.
Also, you will only get AT&T OTA if on AT&T network. Sine the OP is SIM unlocked, I'm assuming the device is being used on a different (not AT&T) network. But the device can be updated by RUU. RUU is available for 4.4.3 (hopefully 4.4.4 will be available soon) here:

You can receive OTAs while being on another providers network. I updated mine to 4.4.3 while I was in Europe before they pulled it.

Were you roaming on AT&T's network?
I've seen a couple reports here and there like yours. But for the most part, I've seen many (probably dozens of) instances of folks (on XDA and on AT&T forums) using AT&T devices on foreign carriers and not getting OTA.
As the OP has already missed 2 OTAs I'd say its reasonable to say he isn't going to get an OTA.

No, I was using a foreign sim and at that time I was on wifi since the edge network is horrible.

Okay, its on 1.58 at least. If it was still on 1.54 and you didn't get a notification to update to 1.58, it would be safe to conclude you can't get any updates. So there is still a small chance, I suppose. Although I wouldn't bet on it.

[Q] Latest Android Version on AT&T HTC ONE?

Hi everyone I have an HTC One M8 from the AT&T network but don't have service so I won't be getting any OTA updates anymore. Would someone be kind enough to tell me what the latest version of Android on the AT&T HTC One is? I'll give you a big thanks button!
Also, when converting an AT&T HTC One M8 to GPE does that mean you can use it on any carrier since it is no longer AT&T? What are the advantages of having an HTC ONE M8 converted to GPE? Thank you!

I belive the latest version for the AT&T M8 is 4.4.2
If you convert to GPe you will still be locked to AT&T as flashing a rom does not unlock your device
The only advantages I could think of are faster updates, no bloat, and pure stock goodness
But keep in mind to convert to GPe you need S-Off and a unlocked bootloader. S-Off costs $25 from Sunshine.

Yeah, apparently HTC patched that with a small update. I acctually used firewater and it worked for me. But then again, I never took a ota update. Maybe you should give it a shot.

Alright! Thank you so much! I'm going to see if it'll still work.
I would not attempt "conversion" to GPE build, theres been many many bricks caused from folks not knowing enough to do so,latest build from att is 2.23.502.3. Lollipop testing is starting soon for att variant soon...id hold off. Just my two cents.

It was stated elsewhere that HTC used 4 different patch methods, and even component changes to block firewater. So the only way to know for sure if firewater will work on your device, is to try it. Devices that came with older software are more likely to work with firewater; but trial and error is really the only way to know for certain.
Stock ROM and kernel are probably best, try it a few times, and if it works it works. If not, you need sunshine.

Thank you! Dang they really want that phone locked down don't they? lol
We need to have a fully open source phone not just in terms of software but also in terms of hardware.
Anyways, I will give a try and see if it works. Now, if you have a device that doesn't have the component changes couldn't you just flash the older stock ROM and kernal? In theory?
I will give a try and that way I know for sure if it works or not.

No. The changes are likely not to software/kernel, but rather to hboot (which you can't change with s-on).
They aren't going to implement a patch into software, which you can then easily just downgrade.

Yes, I know it may be disappoint to hear. But unless you have specific knowledge as a dev; most folks aren't going to "luckily" think of a way to s-off the phone that has already been tried (and failed).

SuperCID??

I'm not seeing anything specifically for the Spring M9 saying it's possible or not possible to change the cid on our variant of the m9. Does anyone have info if it's possible yet for us?

You can if you want , but like schmeggy said there is no benefit for cdma. OTA's are slowly making there way out. I'd just wait till sprint receives the 1.40 update (if that's the next one) then look into flashing different ROM's that match up with the firmware.

Was just wondering if this is because the hardware is incompatible or because it would just no longer work on Sprint? I had my M9 unlocked and I was planning on useing it on T-Mobile and figured another firmware might work better.

Do not flash firmware from another variant, (Verizon, T-Mobile). You will brick your phone. Also The Sprint M9 cannot be used on T-Mobile, Verizon or AT&T.
