First! What an omen. The day i get my Gpad up and running, this pops up.
Edit: Downloaded the 12/6 build will flash it when I get a chance. ?
Edit 2: Running ok , but getting SODs. ?

Have been waiting for you to release this, downloading it now.

Is selinux set to enforcing? Any hardware issues? Thanks for this!

then its not running ok...
it was my first v500 cm12 alpha build, next builds the bugs will be squashed out..
regards.

I've flashed and running fine. I did a full wipe. System, data and cache. Seems to be running OK. One snag is location seems to latch on on the status bar even though settings is showing off.
Apart from that everything else is good.
Edit: I've had a couple SODs.

Also getting sod's , looking forward to you're next build. =)

try new build 20141207 .. no SOD's so far.
edit: no SOD's in 17m uptime, but no access to internal memory now... i think i will wait until tomorrow and build again. theres ton's of commits ready to be merged.

This just made my day, thank you very much

The new build seems to be stable, no sod so far and haven't really run in to anything that's doesn't work as it should so far.

ok... try using dropbox, and open a file.

ROM seems to work totally error-free here, no issues with internal storage (I don't see what you mean, I opened a Dropbox file with no problems just now).
The only thing I don't get is why there is no multiuser support, since I am running CM12 nightlies on my Galaxy S4 and it is fine there...
Am I missing something?

Edit: sorry, didn't see q&a thread. Admin, feel free to delete this post

you can open the internal sdcard with CM File Manager, read and write on it, and on Dropbox, you are able to export a file to /downloads (internal memory) ??
which recovery are you using and which fs is the internal memory? vfat?

Yup, just did all that you proposed with no problem.
I am using Philz latest recovery, no idea what fs is used for internal memory. Qany hints on how to check that?
It might have to do with the "firmware base" I have, which is something I hear about a lot and have no idea what it is, since I installed CM11 on the first day I got the device and just updates the night lies ever since...

[KERNEL] Custom Kernel for YP-G1 USA + INTL (5/3/12) [UPDATE: R3]

Klin's Custom Kernel for YP-G1 USA and INTL
Latest Version: R3
This is a custom kernel that I made based off of STeVE's 3.0 sources. (He gave me permission to release this) I will be adding more features and continue to develop it. The sources are here: https://github.com/klin1344/Galaxy-Player-4.0-Kernel
Please be patient if there are problems as this is my first kernel and everything is still a learning process for me. (I'm completely new to Linux) Enjoy .
Disclamer: I will not be responsible if you brick your device or if any weird stuff happens.
R1 features:
- EXT4 support (See instructions in 2nd post on how to convert to EXT4)
- Insecure kernel (root in ADB)
- All features from STeVE's 3.0 kernel
R2 features:
- Improve touch screen responsiveness
- Custom bootanimation support; the kernel will look in both /data/local/ or /system/media/ for bootanims
- Netarchy/coolbho3ks SoD patch from Entropy512's source (allows you to use screen off profiles of under 800Mhz)
- Lots of tweaks and mods for overall performance and responsiveness
R3 features
- Ported ClockWorkMod 5.2.0.7 from semaphore kernel source for the I9000
- Raised FPS cap to 72
- Raised RAM from 341 MB to 352 MB
--Doing this would break HD video recording and taking photos while taking videos on the I9000, but our device has none of those features, so it shouldn't have any issues.
- More reliable and easier way of converting to EXT4 (see below) (thanks zaclimon for the advice)
How to install:
Check the PDA slot and flash the .tar in ODIN. Or if you're on Linux, extract the zImage from the .tar and flash with Heimdall.
All releases are here: http://www.mediafire.com/?m1bjqojv5ln6o
Thanks to:
- Entropy512 and rumirand for their kernel sources
- STeVE for his custom kernel and source
- Many kernel devs in other SGS and Nexus S forums for their kernel sources as well
- zaclimon for testing initial release and helping me with MD5 mismatch issues
How to convert to EXT4Instructions are for R3 only
1. Flash my kernel.
2. Make sure you have about 14 MB free space on /system.
3. Boot into CWM recovery and do a full nandroid backup.
4. Reboot, and from your computer go to the CWM backup directory on your sd card.
5. Change all the files from ".rfs.tar" to ".ext4.tar".
6. Open nandroid.md5 with a text editor and change all the ".rfs.tar" to ".ext4.tar". Save and close.
7. Eject the device from your computer FIRST. This step is crucial. Then disconnect from your player.
8. Reboot to CWM recovery and do a full restore.
Note: If you're using R5 of my KlassicROM then system is already EXT4.
Thanks to zaclimon for advising me to eject from computer first
If you appreciate my work and want to encourage me to continue developing, don't post "thanks", just click it!
Reserved for future use.
Thanks for your continual development for this player with the custom kernel. Is the CWM the same version from Steve's kernel, or have you put in a newer version?
Regarding your new rom release, I'm always reluctant to change things when they are working well. I hesitated (slightly) going from R3 to R4 and now I'm doing the same thing going to R5.
Quite frankly, R4 works great for me but I'll probably change over to R5 soon enough. LOL Also, if I'm understanding your release notes correctly for R5, I can no longer replace sanim zip with my own boot anim in /system/media, is that correct?
Thanks again, klin.

Yes bootanimation is no longer supported, but thats an easy fix I will add to this kernel.
Sent using Tapatalk
How long should the device stay at the boot animation after converting the filesystems? Mine has been sitting for more than 5 minutes. I'm on Klassic R5
EDIT: Didn't know R5 was already using EXT4 until I read the note at the top of the page. Change it to a larger font and make it bold so people can read it better.

It's a KERNEL not a ROM.
There is not screeshot. The kernel is the core of a linux architecture, the one that handle the drivers, the filesystem etc ...
The Rom is the "software" that is around the kernel with all the apps.
See the kernel and the rom as a onion, kernel as the centre and rom as the rest.
What is the benefit of EXT4?
Ext4 file system is much faster than Samsung's proprietary rfs filesystem. It is basically voodoo lagfix, except you have to manually convert instead of it doing it automatically.

Updated to r2.
Edit: oh yeah, some suggestions for a kernel name would be nice.

Hmm, how about "Klin's kool kernal"
Or "Klin's kustom kernal" might be better?
"Netarchy/coolbho3ks SoD patch from Entropy512's source"
What is that, btw? Nvm about that, just read about it in entropy512's thread.
One more thing: you said somewhere that you had ported a newer version of cwm than what is in Steve's rom, is that in here?

Thanks for the suggestions.
The CWM had too many problems than it was worth to sort everything out so I'll have to stick to steves cwm implementation for now.

Can I just flash this over the current kernel? (R1)
I'm on your r5 ROM.
And also, does this version fix the lagging issues in internet browsers and games?

Yes it is compatible with my ROMs. I'm not sure if it fixes the issues because I'm not using Klassic anymore so I can't test it. But I'm using rooted/deodexed stock with this kernel and it is pretty smooth.

Found a problem. If you are to flash r2 from stock and follow the steps you get suck and the logo. You have to flash r1 follow the steps and then r2.
Edit: On a side note I only see system and cache are the only ones that are converted to ext4. Is that supposed to happen?

__________________________________________________________________________________________________
The first full boot of our ROM was at 24/06/2013, current explaination of what works / does not
WiFi Tethering and WiFi Direct:
Wi-Fi Direct will probably NEVER work, we are working on Wi-Fi Tethering, which is probably going to work.
OMX -> Hardware Decoders / Encoders.
ST-Ericsson fault for NOT giving sources, it will NEVER work without them.
Camera
It's just missing symbols, it WILL work
Torch
Needs configuration, it WILL work
Audio
ST-Ericsson NEVER gave the sources, it's KIND of working, BUT is probable it never work at it's FULLEST
Bluetooth
Needs vendor configuration, it WILL work
_______________________________________________________________
Installation things for the paranoic ones:
YOU MUST INSTALL boot.img VIA FASTBOOT/FLASHTOOL IF GIVES YOU ERRORS
So, someone surely will see...set perms failed, this is because we must add a custom edifier/ota tools packager script written in Python 2.x
IF you see the some set_perms failed. IT doesn't mean that the ROM failed to install, just SOME of the files permission weren't applied because mostly THEY DON'T EXIST.
What to do? stay at recovery, go to advanced settings and select "fix permissions". THIS is not required, if you find any problems, just try, it will not do harm to your phone.

Awesome work and thanks. And btw i saw on some other devices (samsung galaxy ace) that omx libraries were adapted from ics, i suppose we could do the same ?, because correct me if im wrong but without omx libraries then bye bye to video recording - hardware video acceleration.
Just installed the ROM. And the rom is, impressively smooth, right after boot. I am unable to make calls, and play audio, etc. But this is some terrific work you guys have done. Every thing is running silky smooth with out a bit of lag. Thank you very much.

We will work out the calls problem like we did on Galaxy S Advance, probably.
If by audio you mean...music? (Apollo crashing) Yes, it's because the sdcard (internal storage) isn't actually mounted/available for system use.

adb pull /dev/graphics/fb0 fb0
ffmpeg -vframes 1 -vcodec rawvideo -f rawvideo -pix_fmt rgb32 -s 480x854 -i fb0 -f image2 -vcodec png image.png

No, bluetooth doesn't work, yet.
Why? well, we need to FIND the actual bluetooth UART Port, once that's is found (it's somewhere in init the files), we just need to add it in the bluetooth configuration files (they are the same in S Advance), compile, and done
Why I haven't done it yet? I'm repairing my computer (my actual Quad-Core computer, not the slow Single core with 1GB I'm using now). And also, I don't have the device so it needs to be tested by DevSwift first

I know not everyone is into multirom, but it has the most simplest way to convert your system to all-f2fs.....the dev is amazing
Wonderful rom. I just have one problem with it.
I can't add new file into the system partition, it always tell me there is no space left (when there is 15 Mo minimum left). When I wanted to installer Viper4Android I had to hack the ROM installer to add directly into it the file needed for the audio driver.
Is there a way to resolve this issue ? is it linked to the f2fs file system or the way it's mounted ? (of course I remounted it as rw)

Yup :
That what the df command is telling me. I think it's quite weird, because if I do a du -s /system I get :
1048576 system
There is something wrong with filesystem for the /system partition because I have no problem for the cache or the data partition that are giving the correct size.

Well that's how the FS is after a clean install.
If you check the install script, it does format the system partition before putting any file onto it.
For an unknown reason after the first boot, the partition get filled.
Edit : Okay, I found the reason : Slim_AIO_gapps.
Don't install the full version of the GAPPS, especially G+ and Google Home that are taking 40MB together.
Ok I'm back I will convert it tonight
This gave me the push to go to f2fs and I'm glad I did.
Thanks

OK good you fixed it Cheers
Anyone ever have the Omni feature get stuck where it shows recent apps frozen on screen and then when you try touching the screen it just keeps throwing out the omnibar? Sometimes it will crash and force close but then sometimes I have to reboot.

It's possible that I've done something wrong. I'll retry the guide and the install.
Thanks for the help.

Have you been working with InsertCoin's devs on this in any way? Guess I'm really trying to find out if it's been tested yet.
First working Sense 6 ROM was just released a few hours ago and things this good don't come around very often for the jewel any more! Thanks!
Flashed this, in aroma installer it states its for the one s. Didn't boot for me.
Nice thanks bilal for all your hard work.
Works great for me, with the exception of s2w and similar functions. Curious if gstanke flashed immediately after a clean install before first boot.

Yes, i also noticed lack of s2w/s2s functionality. Hopefully that will be fixed, as I find that much easier than reaching up to the power button.
But otherwise, seems to be working great so far.

My sd is mounted in the phone and also accessible on the computer. Maybe size has something to do with it? I'm only using a spare 8G card I had.

I'm pretty sure mine is FAT32. That's the standard for the lower capacity cards right? And I've never changed it.

Adding my experience to the mix, my 64GB card formatted FAT32 is mounting with this kernel.
I had mistakenly posted this in the InsertCoin Sense ROM thread, but then I remembered that I was using this kernel, so I need to post it here.
A couple hours ago, the phone rebooted itself while it was in my pocket. I grabbed a last-kmsg, if you think it will be helpful. (hopefully I can attach it from my phone, here goes...) hmm. Looks like the app only will attach things from the gallery, not a file manager. I may have to attach it from my computer.
Edit: attachment added from my computer. (File too big, here's the link)

Out of curiosity, why are you using an extra capacity card formatted to FAT32 and not exFAT?

Features
LineageOS 15.1 - Android 8.1 Oreo
Based on the Nvidia Shield TV trees
TWRP pre-installed
CPU and GPU performance profiles
Works in handheld and docked mode
Audio is supported
Joycons connect via Bluetooth, also in handheld mode
Reboot to Payload (NEW!). Rebooting will reboot to android and reboot to boodloader will boot hekate.
Known bugs:
Deep sleep, so battery life is not great
Auto rotation as we haven't figured out how to talk to the sensor yet
Screen off in dock
Charging is not detected, but console still charges
Some apps don't handle joycon inputs correctly
The touchscreen sometimes detects touches even when your finger is just floating over the screen
There is a system process ANR on boot. Just click „Wait“ and it won’t happen again until next boot
Screenshots do not work
WiFi may randomly stop working. If this happens just reboot
If TV looks odd and grainy when docking then redock a few times.
No TV keyboard that can be used with gamepad
SELinux is disabled
You can’t access the FAT32 partition of the SD card on macOS. Windows and Linux works.

Installation instructions
Pick the image that corresponds to the size of your SD card. You can use an image that is smaller than your card. You’ll end up with the remaining space unused on your card.
Write the image to your SD card with e.g. balenaEtcher Do not extract the image, Etcher can handle the compressed image just fine! WARNING: This will overwrite any contents on your card! The progress bar/percentage might go haywire in Etcher, but you can ignore that. The flashing will still work and Etcher will let you know when it’s done. It can take up to an hour depending on your SD card’s speed. Also make sure not to format any of the partitions when Windows prompts you to after flashing.
Download GApps for Android 8.1. from OpenGApps, use ARM64 NANO. Put the file on the first partition of your new SD card
If desired download the "Shield-ifier" zip and place it also on the SD card. This will make your Switch identify as Nvidia Shield TV and install the Nvidia app.
Load hekate and boot to TWRP by holding VOL+ when you select the Android config.
Make sure to mount /system and /vendor first in TWRP. Flash GApps zip, reboot2payload zip and optionally flash other zips. Also after installing GApps wipe cache/dalvik as offered by TWRP. Video that shows how to access and flash zips in TWRP: https://youtu.be/3F6WgAb44yk
Reboot to hekate and boot into Android
Complete the inital setup, but DO NOT connect to wifi, do that after set-up has completed. For the Nvidia app to work make sure to update it from Play Store!

FAQ
Q: How to switch performance profiles?
A: Go to Settings -> Battery -> Power Profiles. The options are Balanced = 1 GHz CPU / 468 MHz GPU, Quick = 1.4 GHz CPU / 768 MHz GPU and Performance = 1.7 GHz CPU / 920 MHz GPU. Keep in mind that the high performance profiles use MUCH more battery.
Q: How will updates be done?
A: For updates, flashable zips will be released.
Q: Can we use TV mode?
A: Use HAL launcher from the Play Store to run apps in TV mode.
Q: Nvidia GameStream doesn’t perform well, what to do?
A: Try using Moonlight instead.
Q: Does Magisk work?
A: Yes, just flash it in TWRP
Q: I get an error about „invalid architecture“ when trying to flash GApps
A: Make sure you mounted System in TWRP
Q: Does this work on any Switch?
A: You will need to be able to boot into hekate. If you can do that, your Switch is compatible.

What do the different sized versions do? What happens if I have a 128gb micro sd card and then choose the 64gb image? Does this create a partition automatically for the android stuff and the rest is usable as normal?
Rip download speed x)
We’re working on the server issues. Please some patience
Also the SD card sizes has to be _at least_ the image size you download. Any larger card will just have unallocated space in the end of (sd_size - image_size).
Happy to see you guys finally got the images out, great work. I'll be giving this a try as soon as I get home.

Is it possible to get a torrent going that contains all versions (since you can select which files you want in most clients)? I wouldn't mind help seeding it for a while.
Also, MD5/SHA hashes for the files would be great, both for checking download integrity as well as making sure any mirrored files are genuine.

Great. I snagged the 32GB drive image already, so I should be able to preseed it.
Huge congrats on the release! And thanks for the 32gb mirror I look forward to seeing this baby in action finally.
If you download an image from anywhere but the links provided in the OP, for the love of god, check the shasums in the second post. Running anything unverified on your Switch can lead to unrecoverable bricks!
Not saying people here would be this malicious, but it’s good practice regardless
Can we put CFW files in the fat32 partition and have Atmosphere and Android in the same SD card the same way we did with L4T?

Yes if it’s just Atmosphere sure. The fat32 partition is 2GB so anything that fits on that is okay. So CFW and some homebrew works. But anything past that would probably be too large.
