Not likely. Most Samsung devices that have 4.3 or above have a newer bootloader that does not allow downgrading. Attempting to do so could easily brick your device. Best case scenario, a soft brick. Worst case, a hard brick. It's possible that you could run a custom 4.2.2. rom as that will not mess with the bootloader, but sometimes there are issues with mixing and matching OSes and modem versions. Why would you want to downgrade anyway?

Ever since the software update forced itself to download ive had nothing but problems. I could be in my music player and it will randomly stop or change songs. Ot doesnt matter what app im in i have issues with it. My biggest problem with it is the fact that not only has my battery life been cut in half, it also avts lile it doesnt want to charge. All this started after the software update. Honestly id rather root it but im still waiting cf autoroot for it to be available. I love this phone just dont like the software update. Any suggestions?

Over the air updates can cause issues like that if you don't reset the phone. They (the manufacturers) of course would never tell you that, but I work in a cell repair shop and I do software mods and unlocks for a side job/hobby as well as hang out on XDA all the time and see it constantly. It's the same for them all, even Apple devices. I'm not saying that OTAs WILL cause issues, but it's certainly more of a contributing factor to issues like these vs resetting the phone before the update or update completely via the computer., especially when making complete OS version jumps.

Is it possible to manually reinstall the os update?

[Q] Should I root?

Ok, first off I'm a noob with rooting and things like that. My only experience is on my xoom a while back I came here for guides on how to get rid of the Canadian stock OS to put on the American one so I could get updates for ICS because motorola wasn't updating the Canadian and I was able to do it successfully without bricking. However, I've never rooted a device and I shamefully have only used iPhones in the past, so the s3 is my first android phone.
Theres lots of cool stuff I wanna do with a rooted phone but I'm reluctant for several reasons:
How dangerous is it really? I see the bolded red stuff saying they aren't responsible, but is it mostly a safety or is there really a large chance of bricking?
Should I wait? Like will people find safer/easier methods in the near future for rooting since its still a new device?
Should I not root if I don't know much about this stuff yet?
Thanks for any replies!
Rooting opens up so many more possibilities for this device. I made it 2 weeks before I rooted my S3. That's the longest I have ever gone before rooting a new device. lol It does officially void your warranty, but I've never had any issues exchanging a rooted device with [email protected] As always YMMV.
All in all, I wouldn't hesitate. It takes just a few minutes and is easy as pie. Just make sure you read and follow the directions as they are given.

Exactly as said above. I made it ten minutes after getting it on release day before rooting it. Rever got around to actually using the stock phone!
Root is simple enough just only thing to stress if you're a noob' is to make sure the battery is charged before doing anything. Nothing could really go wrong if you're following the correct instructions for your device.
And thought I'd share, not that this phone needs to be any faster, but with a few modifications on a touchwiz rom you get large improvements over stock. I wouldn't advise to OC often though, see here

Thanks! I guess I'll stop being a wuss and go try it out
One other quick question I forgot to ask-
When I root, am I done with it forever? Will I have to do a lot of stuff when updates come or anything like that or am I good to go?

Constant freezing and battery loss

I have looked everywhere for an answer but have found nothing. I can use my phone just fine until it completely freezes. I am left with no option but to take the battery out and restart and come back to a low battery that went from roughly 80% to 10%. I have no clue what to do. I'm not sure if i need to wipe and format. Can anyone give me some advice? If it's a case of having to wipe, can I have details on how to do this without losing information?
Thanks

I can't see the picture (don't know if it's just me), but on what rom/kernel are you? And do you UC/UV?

My kernal version is too long to understand. I'll try and upload pic again. Im on android 4.0.4 and just before this reply i had to restart phone again!!! I don't know what you mean by UC/UV.

i think you have the original firmware, try to install the newest firmware LSJ you can get this at sammobile.com or you can choose a custom rom which you can find here

Yeah, you're on an official rom, and since you don't know what it means, I assume you don't underclock (UC) and/or undervolt (UV)
Ever considered rooting and flashing a custom rom? Or, like stated above me, flash some other official firmware through Odin to see if the problems still excist (except someone else has another sollution).

u got 2 options :
1.spend the rest of ur life trying to figure out wats causing the freezing to this retarded android system AND never find an answer
2.save ur time, money and efort and do ur self a favour : buy a real smart phone that works and does all it promises .... buy an iPhone

[Q] Not receiving calls while using mobile Data

I am going nuts here I have been searching all over the net and I still have not been able to fix this problem, so I am sorry if this seems like a repeated thread.
I have a Tmobile rooted Samsung Galaxy S III, I was running a nightly Cyanogenmod 10 ROM. Yesterday there was an update for that rom and I downloaded it and installed it, everything was fine and running smoothly until some people started telling me that they were not able to reach me by phone. I tried checking what was wrong and I finally realized that whenever I have my mobile data on or while I am using it I don't receive voice calls. I tried looking everywhere for a way to fix this and I came across the ##DATA# code in which I could turn off the DDTM option but unfortunately my phone doesn't recognize that code.

}
this is the message I get every time I try to enter ##3282# code.
I thought that maybe something was wrong with the ROM itself so i decided to browse around here for one for my Tmobile samsung galaxy S 3 and I decided to install this one [ROM][4.2.2][RC1] LiquidSmooth ROMs - d2tmo - 2|14|13
after wiping data/cache and dalvik cache I installed this ROM and this is my current phone info
and still when I am using my mobile data I cant receive calls nor put the ##DATA# code to turn off DDTM.
is there any other way I could access that DDTM option? I am so frustrated or maybe I am doing something wrong.. I do admit I am no pro at this.
Please if any of you could help me I will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
Wrong forum, mate. Ask in the T-Mobile S3 forum. This is for GT-I9300 International S3, not the T-Mobile variant. Anything suggestions you get here might brick your phone. Good luck!
For the record, even I couldn't access the ##DATA# code in GT-I9300.

What version is this ? CM 10.1 ?
There is no stable build out yet, so you might want to report these issues in a CM 10.1 nightly specific thread.
Nightly builds are prone to have issues. That's why they are not called stable

[Q] data connection crapping out, and other weird issues

So I gave this phone to my mother a while back. It was working fine for a while, but when she said it was slowing down a little I decided to update her rom to something a little newer.
She was previously on a 4.1 version of AOKP, about a month or so ago, I updated to the newest 4.2 version of AOKP.
When I did this, she started having problems with her mobile data going out. She works in an area with bad service, and she would leave work and go to make a call, and she would get a mobile network unavailable error message and the phone would be unusable until she rebooted. This would happen about once every 1 or 2 days. It was especially annoying because if people tried to reach her - they wouldnt even get a ring on their end.
Another thing I noticed is that her phone memory is completely full even though there is barely anything installed. I put just the essentials on there, and she doesn't install anything. Heres what her phone looks like:

}
No idea what happened or why its doing this. (the storage issue)
As for the mobile network going out - I have had this problem in the past, and im not sure how I solved it other than just keep flashing roms. Could it possibly be a wrong radio flashed? We're located in CT, US if any specific radio is recommended.
I should also point out - After flashing to 4.2 AOKP and seeing these issues - i flashed to slim beans newest rom - and the same exact issues kept happening.
Please let me know anything I can do to try and fix this. Id like to do it as quickly as possible since I dont live with my mother - so i dont have a lot of time to mess around with her phone - she just needs something that works.
I would flash it to latest bare bone stock rom using Odin.

when you say barebones stock - are you referring to the an ATT stock rom, or an AOSP stock rom?
I777ucmd8 AT&T stock. 4.1.2

about the space issue, there are 2 solutions. you can simply flash another rom ( i took this one since i feel like stock is too clunky). or you have o be rooted, and then you have to go into terminal and do some things, keep looking around it's some thread with a link.
as for the signal issue, modem uck666 (or something like that, it has 'k's and '6's) worked for me.

How to upgrade from rooted Andtoid 9 tab s6 rooted with odin but pc no longer availab

Ive rooted my SM-T860 using a Windows 7 laptop/Odin and Magisk before the Android 10 update. I no longer have the laptop.
Can anyone advise how I update to Android 10 without a PC if its even possible with my Tab rooted.
Is Mobile Odin an option?
I don't have TWRP installed only stock recovery.
Any replies are gratefully appreciated.
I'm thinking I should have used a different root method and installed TWRP, but I didn't, thanks in advance guys.
Hope everyone is doing ok.

You are going to need a PC. You will have to Odin back to stock at the very least.
Try FlashFire app from Playstore. If you are rooted it is only way to flash ROM without PC.

Thanks for the reply, why would I have to go back to stock first?
I really regret the root method I chose and ideally I would love to have TWRP and pass all device security checks etc.
I'm just really anxious and nervous to make a mistake that makes my device unusable :/
I miss kingoroot/towelroot/iRoot etc lol
