[Q] Has anyone tried MHL with the 7D-501L/503L/501u ? - Huawei MediaPad, T-Mobile SpringBoard

Hi all,
One of the use cases for a tablet is that it can be used as a light-duty PC replacement.
I intend to use it this way, for some work related stuff. However, to unleash its full utility, it should be paired to a larger display, like 19"+
Miracast does this, but I find that the Miracast on the X1 is a bit choppy. I have a Samsung AllShare dock, and connection is intermittent, with the Malaysia B102 ROM. It was far worse with the initial release ROM.
One of the things I'm thinking is to use an MHL adapter. There are some on the market with built in USB hubs so I can pair this with the X1 and use it as a desktop replacement, for presentation viewing or emails.
Anyway, anyone tried ANY form of MHL adapter on the X1 ?
The original Mediapad (s7-301u) had a micro HDMI port which could be directly used to output.
Thanks all for inputs.

Silly me, there were initial threads saying MHL works.
Just wonder, as there are 2 MHL standards, the earlier one that came with the original Note N7000, and the next version that came with the Note 2 N7100 and later.
Can anyone confirm if the X1 works with the later MHL standard?

There was another thread about MHL:

I can only say I got mine 7D-503L working with MHL adapter intended for Sony Xperia Compact Z1 (MHL v1.0).

I bought a dirt cheap MHL 1.0 adapter for about USD3. Worked on the 7D-501L, but could not work on the Note 4.

microUSB > USB HOST adapter [working]; microUSB > HDMI adapter [not working]

Hi guys,
1) I bought Nokia USB OTG HOST cable like this, and it works very well
2) I also bought Samsung Galaxy S2 HDMI adapter like this,
to try on Sony Tablet S.
Unfortunatelly (as I thought) - its not working.
So anyone who thinks about buying one - don't buy it(for now).
Maybe someone knows if other adapter would work?
Maybe HDMI support via microUSB port could be added
in software, of course after we will get root?

I too would also like to know if this would be possible. If i root my Sony S tablet would that help,or there is a custom rom i could flash to my Sony Tablet to enable the use of a micro usb-to-HDMI cable for video/audio output to my 42"LCD TV. I only ask bcuz none of my TV's are wifi/DLNA capable & Id like to use the Sony tablet for streaming Netflix to my TV's. I recently upgraded to the Epic 4G Touch/Galaxy S II & i would rather use my tablet for streaming than my Galaxy S II. Thanks for any info
It would be pretty cool to play a nice graphics game on the Tablet S with it displaying on the 42 monitor!

Folks, this tablet does not have HDMI out. Even when it's possible to root it, that won't help.

Galaxy S2 doesnt have HDMI out, and work with adapter. How can you be so sure that its not possible?
Hi Condi,
While the Galaxy S2 doesn't have an HDMI socket like you'd have on your TV, it does have the electonics required to do HDMI over microUSB. Unfortunately the Sony doesn't have this because Sony decided to use DLNA instead, mainly because their TV's have this functionality.
I did quite a bit of research on this subject before buying this tablet and confirmed it with Sony UK.
Sadly it's pretty typical of Sony to build their gadgets to work best with their own devices. Another example of this practice is the proprietory power connector that means you have to use their £30 power adaptor, which is pretty pricey for a mobile power adaptor if you ask me. It also means there is currently no car charger for it, which is extremely annoying too.

[Q] [Q-Flyer3G] samsung mhl + vga connector

there is an interesting thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1287344

i am on leedroid latest rom 4.3.0 and kernel, using the samsung MHL (Model : EIA2UHUNBE) and the hdmi to vga cable from the forum i mentioned before(with internal digital to analog converter).
somehow i cannot receive any video output(blank),
- hdmi to vga : works already tested on notebook,
- monitor that i've connected to the flyer seems to receive signal,
- i cannot test the samsung mhl, as i dont have any hdmi device.
did i made any wrong turn somewhere?
UPDATE :
DigitalMD help me with some solution,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17955551

[Q] MHL-to-HDMI generic adapters?

I bought a generic MHL-to-HDMI adapter off ebay ($5) and can't get it to work at all; there's no signal, no hdmi notification, etc. Have tried multiple ways of plugging in, rebooting, powering, also tried it on a Samsung Galaxy II with no luck.
I confirmed with HTC that the Desire X does in fact have MHL (their site doesn't list it, though others do), here's the main part of their reply:
This is to confirm that the MHL feature is available on your phone. You just need to make sure that you are using a compatible MHL adaptor. We would like to know if the MHL-HDMI adaptor that you are currently using is a third party accessory. If yes, there is a possibility that this is a compatibility issue.

So the question is, does anyone know if the Desire X is using a "non standard" MHL, or has anyone gotten generic MHL adapters to work? On the other hand, I have found MHL adapters that say they work for particular HTC devices, but on enquiry about compatibility the sellers just reiterated their list of devices; are there different MHL standards used in the HTC stable?
I would like to connect my phone to HDMI TVs/monitors, but my desire (pardon the pun) isn't strong enough to justify spending $50 on a HTC-branded adapter.
I am currently looking for the same adapter to use on my Note 2. In my research I came across some mention of the Note 2 using using a slightly different plug (more pins I think) compared to the same connector on the first Galaxy Note. So just a thought that you may be experiencing that kind of issue... Although two connectors can both be MHL to HDMI, they may still have different specs.

Did you ever get to the bottom of the problem, RoGuE_StreaK?
I recently bought a HTC Desire X and I'm still not sure if the HDMI OUT feature will work (since they don't list it). Can you confirm that you did, indeed manage to play movies on the a external screen?
Cheers,

Nope, never found a solution, info is non-existent. I find it incredibly poor that HTC don't give any info or support for the two USB-port (physical) future trends that this phone is supposed to be capable of, both MHL and USB-OTG.
Kinda waiting to see if it ever gets JB, to see if support will be included then. I'm not going to hack this thing with some unknown 14yr-old's leet rom in the hope that I can plug in devices it is supposed to support in stock form.
MHL seems to be another no-standard standard that means SFA. Even sellers that list their MHL adapter as supporting certain HTC devices won't say that it supports the Desire X.

[Q] MHL and Z2 cross compatibility.

I just bought mhl adapter that meant to work with Note 3/S3 and other devices. Unfortunately it doesn't work on my Z2. It works fine with Note 3. I've read something about pins. And as far as a got it, adapter i bought is 11 pin (it's v1.0 BTW) as it works out of the box on Note 3. So my question is: is there a way to make it work on Z2? Maybe i need a tip 11 to 5 pin if one exist.

2.0, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector. What does it stand for exactly? USB dock.

S10 lite specs say, it's equipped with "2.0, Type-C 1.0 reversible connector". I'm confused. So which generation of USB is that? Does this "reversible" have anything to do with OTG(hosting) ability or is that just an indication that it can be plugged both sides?
I'm diggin into this topic because I'm looking for a docking station, for my S10 Lite, with some USB 3 ports and HDMI. I was wandering if some docks aimed for computers will do. Like this one for eg.:
http://https://greencell.global/en/startseite/1954-docking-station-adapter-hub-usb-c-hdmi-green-cell-7-ports-for-macbook-pro-dell-xps-lenovo-x1-carbon-and-others.html
Wouldnt bother
Hi i really wouldn't bother with a dock for this phone while you might be able to get basic OTG support for a USB stick as storage that's about it, this phone has no USB 3 support, No DEX, and no HDMI output capability. just realised this myself and i'm gutted thinking about returning it for the A90.
Ok. Is hdmi/dex support hardware dependant then? No chance for hdmi with some ported rom? My previous handset had no otg support with stock firmware and then I foud out OTG was there when flashed some lineage or stock rom ported from a newer phone.

OTG maybe, HDMI afraid not the Galaxy s10 lite has a USB 2.0 port not the 3.1 port required to output a HDMI signal. The A90 is cheaper has and exactly the same specs apart from is 6gb ram instead of 8gb and has a 3.1 USB port with full dex support plus it has 5g, not entirely sure why the s10 lite even exists and really wished i had researched more before ordering
There is a multiport adaptor listed on the Samsung store, @deanstead2k18, have you tried an HDMI adaptor and it doesn't work?

I dont have the phone anymore or I would order one and give it a try, as far as I know it's not possible I tried several different multi port adapters with hdmi and none of them worked I even got an on screen message saying it's not supported. Traded in for an s10 plus and all the multi port adapters work perfect
Hmm - I suspect that the thing on a Samsung website is a misprint then honestly. Thanks for the info.
