[Q] [HELP] I do not know if this tiny light on front screen is normal ? - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just purchased a new Xperia Z2 (D6503), everything worked fine.
But I noticed there is a tiny bright light/spot looks like this "-", about 1-2 mm long, located at the left corner of the bottom bezel (which is all black) on the front screen. It is most noticeable when the screen is on. When the screen is off, this tiny light is also off, just looks grey.
I wondered what this light is for , and found no results in the user manual. I searched Z2 phone pictures online and all the bottom bezel on those phone looked whole black without any light. So i'm worried if my screen is defective.
Please help me check if you have the same light on the bottom left corner of the bezel.
Thank you!

I'm new to this phone too, but I don't have anything like you describe. I think you may have a faulty device.

Maybe damaged pixel? Not sure, but I'm sure it is faulty hardware, take it to Sony for warranty repairs.

Is it on the display or off the display?
That wasnt clear to me?

off the display , in the black bezel region at the bottom of the front of the phone.

It is most likely a manufacturing defect where the the bezel was scratched on the back side. This causes light from the backlight to bleed through the glass when the display is turned on. Sorry OP, maybe try to exchange it?

Blue Vertical Lines In Sunlight

Hey guys. Was out and about the other day and was using my phone and as I tilted the phone down out of the glare of the sun I noticed some weird vertical lines on my screen. Each evenly spaced same colour etc.
I can not replicate the effect unless there is large amounts of light or im outside in real light. BEAR IN MIND ITS ONLY VISIBLE AT CERTAIN ANGLES.
The lines don't appear on any pictures or hinder the video. They ar only visible during sunlight.
What im wondering has anybody else got this I will say issue. Or any insight as to what it could be? If there's a problem Carphone warehouse will want to repair it and not give me a swap for a new phone. What light does anyone have to share. Or am I just being paranoid?
My Titan is exactly the same, I think its just the way the screen works and is nothing to worry about.

I've got mine from Carphone warehouse. Haven't noticed this yet. They will replace it for you within 28 days. Else it goes to HTC for repairs. However, where did you find this sunlight? It's been so gloomy out here. BTW as mentioned above, this could be just the normal screen behaviour. The other two issues with screen that have come up so far are - the pink dot in the middle and grey keys visible on white background. Nothing back from HTC.
Hold your Titan with the screen directly facing you, at about 3/4 arms' length (as in, just sorta normally with your elbow bent a little) under diffuse light, with the phone powered up and the screen off.
Then tilt the phone backwards. As you get about 3/4 of the way back, you might see a regular pattern of thin stripes running up and and down on the screen.
They are not visible when the screen is powered up. I think it's just a normal part of the way the LCD panel works. As an analog, on my Dell Venue Pro, I could see a grid of dots under its AMOLED screen when looking closely at an oblique angle similar to as described above.
I also have a matte finish screen protector on my Titan, which might be making this more pronounced. In any case, it is absolutely *not* happening when the screen is powered up -- even in black areas of the screen.
Hmmm... Maybe it's a future charging grid.
have you guys noticed anything new in regard to htc amaze blue lines. i just go the phone a week ago and i have been noticying the same things. any new info thank.
My Titan also has these blue vertical lines, and it is seen only in daylight with screen off.
I see the same too but I thought it was from my screen protector...

Backlight bleed or light leakage.

My Xperia Z Ultra has minor light leakage from the top of the screen. Visible at the top and also the top left and right.
Its not evident when the phone is held straight but becomes visible (these areas appear brighter at an angle and you can see a clear source of light) when the phone is held at an angle. I cant recollect whether I had this from day 1.
Its been about two months with this device.
Is this normal? I do know that minor backlight bleed or leakage is to be expected from an LCD screen but I thought that applied to bigger panels like monitors. But is this normal for a phone? All my previous android devices were Samsungs with AMOLED displays so I'm not sure whether I'm just getting worried over nothing.
To test this, take a pure white background at fullscreen and check the corners of the screen at different angles.
Kindly post your findings here.
Yup, I have it too. Not really noticeable unless I look for it though, so it doesn't bother me.

Is it at the top of the screen for you? Is it visible when you tilt the screen or when the phone is horizontal..like when placed on a table?
For me the top most area of the screen appears brighter with light shining through when I hold the phone vertically at a 45 degree angle or when the phone is on a table.
When I'm holding the phone straight on, directly facing it, it doesnt seem to show much.

No, nothing like that.

Backlight uniformity?

I love my Xperia Z4 Tablet. However the backlight is noticeably dim on the bottom (when in the default landscape position) or the left hand side when in portrait (volume/power button facing up). It is most noticeable in portrait mode when there is a white background (Kindle, Chrome and Instagram most notably). I am willing to live with this issue, but was wondering if anyone else is seeing any issues?
For the price I paid, it would be nice to have uniform backlighting. But I am worried it could be worse on another unit. Expansys has offered me an exchange or refund but there is a delay in availability now that the first lot has sold out.
No problems with mine
I am sending mine back for an exchange. I miss it already
Now I noticed that too. The difference is really small, but it's there.

Hopefully my replacement isn't any worse than the one I just sent back. It was as bad as I could handle.
Interesting, the same with my tablet - seems to be a general problem
I don't know if I should return and change the tablet...
can you make a picture for us? I dont know what you mean? my backlight is perfect - no bleeding and no clouding )
I'm sorry, but it was not possible to make a picture where you can see this.
However I can only see it on white backgrounds - the first centimeter is slightly grayish...

It is not a hardware problem. I see the band only when the bottom menu appears. It looks like the transperancy issue with that menu layer.
Mine looks fine, just hope it is not something my eyes just don't notice, but others do.

No, I think it is a hardware problem - if I turn the tablet from landscape to portrait mode, white backgrounds are gray on the left. Btw for me it's only visible in portrait mode - in landscape mode the menu bar on the bottom is usually black or transparent...
It is definitely a hardware problem and it sounds like the backlight is weaker on several units on the bottom (when in landscape) or left hand side (when in portrait with power button facing up). It is a shame as it is very distracting to read on anything that doesn't have a dark or black background in portrait. Still waiting for my replacement unit As long as the replacement isn't worse, I will likely live with it as I really enjoyed (and miss) the tablet.

Try anything with an all white background. If you open Chrome with no web pages loaded and the new tab page up or Kindle with a white background and hold the tablet in portrait, you might see uneven backlighting on your left or right sides depending on the orientation.
Backlight direction is notable
Got my Z4 tablet yesterday. After reading some issues with the backlight I checked this at my device and can see there is a notable uniformity.
If you hold the device with power button upside, then one can see a thin bright line from the backlight LEDs on the left side, while the opposite screen edge is slightly darker.
It looks like the screen is only backlighted from one side. For the normal usage it is not really annoying, but it is there and you would see it, if you take attention for the issue.
Do other Z4 owners have the same effect?

I have the impression my Amazon Z4T packages was already a replacement from someone else. The box made used look, some scratches and one corner had a ditch.
It wasn't sealed in any way. The charge adapter cable looked out of its the small box. The screen protection layer made the impression it was reattached, a lot of air bubbles were included.
Can someone describe how he found the delivery when unboxing it?
Was it sealed?
I also consider a replacement, if the screen issue is not a general construction feature.
Oddly enough, I purchased mine from another supplier, and also felt the item had been handled if not used. USB cable was out of wrapping and screen protector had signs of being removed and re-applied. I received mine the day after they were available for sale. I am hoping my replacement looks like new and has minimal or no backlight uniformity issues.

Hopefully you get it soon and can report here the condition of the replacement.
I have 14 days left to send it back to Amazon for free.
Please also describe how it was packaged.
Are there any seals or blister foil?
I can't believe Sony delivers an open package to retail stores.
Unboxing videos on Youtube don't show this clearly.
Thanks in advance.

For me:
Not sealed.
Box in perfect condition.
Screen protector had a few bubbles, but not that many.
It was perfectly even on the tablet, edges protector = edges tablet.
Charge cable was in box, but it was wound a bit loopsided. But I think it more likely that it came that way - besides, how many people do even need those cables nowadays? Even if they need them, they likely will not use them when trying the tablet out.
Charge of 65%
Tablet itself:
I couldn't see a backlight uniformity issue, tried it with a white background with 100% luminosity in a dark room. Compared to the Z1 Tablet the screen looks a LOT dimmer in the dark, but I suspect that is more because the Z4 has some auto-dim function there. In bright light the Z4 screen looks slightly brighter.
What I noticed is that the speakers produce a fair amount of white noise. At 10% it is very noticeable, at 50% I do not hear it unless it is a very silent scene and I am concentrating on it. Somewhat annoying and IMO not something a tablet in that price range should have, but not annoying enough for me to play replacement bingo.
My seller is out of stock with a new batch due next week. I'll let you know when it comes. From what I can tell, Sony products are never fully sealed.

HELP! S6 Edge screen PROBLEM or not ??

Hello again everyone,
Today, I cleared my desk, opened up my light and decided to go ahead and apply a screen protector on my brand new Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge. As I was cleaning it and preparing it I noticed something worrying on the screen. The screen panel (under the glass) doesn't seem to be fully flat and flush. On the right side of the panel I noticed a little "wrinkled line" (quite long one, it's length is 70-80% of screen's length) that can only get noticed under direct light and at an angle. It's really hard to see it but you can see it. I also managed to see it when I put a white color image on my display and turned the brightness to maximum. It was visible again at an angle. You could see that a part of the panel is not fully flat but wrinkles slightly. So, what should I do?? Is it normal or I should go ask for a replacement? I guess will be quite a pain to show them, too. Are panels normal to be like that? If you try check yours try to put it on your desk and open up your desk light (it's easier to see with yellowish light and not modern white LED ones but still) and then check your screen panel at different angles.
Below I got some pictures pointing that.

Thanks
UPDATE: I went it to a local official Samsung Service and they told it's fine. No problem at all. So this may be normal. I'd like to hear your thoughts too. If you try to check yours tho beware that it's not that easy to see, u gotta get some good lighting and the angle.

White spots on display

I received my X F5121 two days ago, and as soon as I turned it on, I could notice a white horizontal spot a bit up from the centre of the display. You can notice it more when on a white blank page and with brightness a bit up.
I also found (more on white pages) that pushing the back cover of the phone would affect the screen with distorted colors and looks like (in my opinion) the glass is not properly installed on the device.
Am I the only one with this problems?
Let me know what you think...

Is it like a white patch whether its a white screen, or a light color like beige background, like something is being pushed against a lcd screen, or a light bleed.
I had something like that, not sure if it was when I purchased the phone, but I only noticed it after a few months of using it, I took it a xperia service center and had the whole screen, including the phones outer frame body changed, not sure if the center was too lazy to change just the screen, but im happy with it now.
You should get sony to sort it out, or if you still have a return period for exchange/refund.
