What?
I have a Galaxy Light, and I'm fairly knowledgeable about the device. But I don't understand gibberish. You need to tell us exactly what you did, and try to speak in English without typos.

Ok
Lol sorry, I rooted my phone, well I put twrp on my phone the flashed it with I guess a flash for tmobile and on jellybean instead of kitkat. I tried to flash the radio but dont think it did anything. And now I reboot my phone and its asking for the sim pin

Which TWRP did you flash? Did you flash T-Mobile firmware? I need to know EXACTLY what you did.

Ok
I used twrp 2.7.0.0-gardaltetmo.tar. The flashed a supers u update -v 1.94.zip, then I wanted to know how to unroot incase I needed to know and used SGH-t399-stock-MJA.ZIP

Don't use T-Mobiles firmware on your MetroPCS phone.
This is what you need to do.
And for the love of all that is good in this world, next time DO A BACKUP before flashing things. You installed TWRP, which gives you the ability to make a complete backup of your system exactly as it is at that point in time. If you had done a back-up before you screwed up your phone, it would have taken you but a few minutes to unscrew it.
I apologize for being harsh, but it seems to me like you really need to read and research a lot more. I always (well, usually...almost bricked my tablet the other day) read everything I can find about something potentially risky before doing it. Let this be a learning experience for you. Read as much as you can, understand what it is you are actually doing rather than just following some guide, and if you don't understand, just ask. I and most of us here would rather you asked a noobish question instead of going blindly ahead and screwing your phone up. Playing around with root and recovery and flashing without understanding it is like thinking you can perform open heart surgery with a meat cleaver because you've seen every episode of ER, Scrubs, and Grey's Anatomy.

thanks
ok thanks alot btw. just now got the files downloaded but im in twrp and the files are on my pc how could i get them to my phone? and i dont have a sd card either

Hm. I didn't think about that. I think you might need to get an SD card. Go on Amazon or eBay and pick one up. An 8GB one can be had for literally a few bucks, but a 64GB class 10 one for $35 is an awesome thing too.

Ok
Ok, and with the back up download how do I get the in twrp. Should I put it in a zip file or leave it how it is

ok im a retard

ok so i cannot figure out how to do this.
i have the sgh-t399n galaxy light- with no os installed, i have twrp on my phone. and i have a backup a sd card. but when i go to restore in twrp the backup isnt there, and ive tried going threw the file options to move it to where is it suposed to go but no such luck. i thought maybe a terminal command would work but i have no clue what command to use. if you could help one more time that would be awesome

You can always use Samsung Kies 3 to flash your phone back to stock. You need your serial number though, and for some reason it is not printed on the back of the device(at least for me). A call to tech support should get that sorted anyway.
Alternatively, you can do this with Odin to a very similar effect. Search Google for something like "T399NUVUANK3 tar" to get the file you need, my personal backup is corrupt so I can't share.

Ugh... I own a t399n and I'm doing some real development on it. . I've made a stock odex and deodexed rooted zip files for the t399n and haven't posted them yet. . If you're in a bad way still hit me up and I'll have you up and running in no time. Fun things coming for metro users. Who says you have to pay for a high end device to have a high end device? He he he....

Do you have a backup I bicked my samsung galaxy light metropcs then I unbricked it by restoring a backup for the samsung galaxy light that I found online. Search fresh backup for samsung galaxy light sgh t399n.

I just love getting an email alert at 4am because someone quoted me to post absolutely nothing of substance.
It's relevant because IT WAS A YEAR AGO! I don't remember why I was so cranky that day. I did apologize to him for it. Did you notice that I also still did my best to help him? Do you have a solution to his problem? Does he even still have this phone, given that it was a year ago? If you want to fixate on my posts, fixate on the hundreds of times I've been thanked for helping others, especially going above and beyond helping people find the perfect device for them. I'm not here to be grumpy, I'm here to help people, and get help when needed. Why are you here? To pester me? Look, I respect my elders, and you're clearly older, but at the same time don't presume to talk down to me. Try reflecting on yourself and your motive in making a useless post, bumping a thread dead for several months (a severe breach of netiquette), purely to insult another member.
Come to think of it, my email alert wasn't because I was quoted (I have that feature turned off). I got the alert because I'm still subscribed to this thread, having done so in case there were new posts that might enable me to help the OP. I suppose I should unsubscribe, giving the fact that nobody has posted anything of use or substance in 7 months or so.

Whoa way over my head!! TP Verizon Rom!

OK i have done some searching and this sounds like a good one. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=461524
Then i want to make shure i can get it back to the original rom i have right now so in case it breaks. this it? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427507&highlight=dump
Then do you guys know if in this rom it already has gps unlocked or do i have to do the bored thing? http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=49933
Then this is my first time doing this. is there anything else i am missing?
First, have you unlocked your phone? This is a must!!
Second, you do have to follow the steps from bored to unlock the GPS.
Third, check out bored's ROMs and kitchens on this forum. Updated today!!
Also, you can revert back to the original ROM and re-lock your phone if neccasary. So no worries. Also, for better signal strength you can also try a new radio (sticky on ppcgeeks). May not help but if you have weak service now, these could give you more bars and extend your battery life.
OH, and if your still on the stock ROM....WOW. You are about to LOVE your phone!! Its like a different phone with a custom ROM, SOOOO much faster

I am not too familiar with XDA myself but PPCGeeks I would say is a better resource for your Verizon TP. I will post a few links that answer every one of your questions but you'll have to do a little reading yourself......
Unlocking and Relocking for Warranty Repair
Guide To Flashing
lllbored GPS Fix (very easy to do and includes the cab to revert if necessary)
Thread About RELOCKING for Warranty
In my Opinion these are all very easy things to accomplish as long as you made sure you READ the instructions throughly before attempting. Good Luck!
If i have a data connection will that get charged like double when i reastivate my phone? and were and how would i get my rom back to stock?

Not sure why you would think your Data plan would double???? I havent had any issues with my data plan changing except when buying a new device and they "assume" you want the Enterprise plan. As long as you made sure Verizon set you up on the $29.99 plan in the first place then it shouldnt change to my knowledge....... DONT CALL VERIZON AND TELL THEM THAT YOU UNLOCKED/FLASHED YOUR PHONE , lol.
Your data plan will be fine. Just dont do a lot of tethering if your plan isnt unlimited. Data usage will be the same as before though

Little history about that , bout 6 months ago I was helping someone in the CrackBerry forums flash a leaked beta on their Curve , they got confused , called Verizon for help flashing and of course were told that they had Violated customer agreements and the device warranty and how they were going to burn in hell for sinning against Verizon. This person then comes back to the forums furious at everybody that had been trying to help because WE had "voided" their warranty. Just wanted to make sure you werent going to do the same and be mad at me
That ROM is the leaked SHIP Rom that comes on the Verizon TP. Double check your Settings/System/Device Information if your not sure. Like I said in the post I linked above ,I have unlocked , flashed (MANY TIMES) and relocked and flashed the Verizon leaked rom so I could send it back and had NO issues whatsoever.
EDIT : Flashing a new rom is just as easy as unlocking was. Which ROM have you chosen for your first one??

all right and then when i am unlocking you get the screen on your computer with a picture of the touch pro and it has you accept the agreements. i have not done this yet but what does that do because it does not seem like that is the unlocker.
Damn this seems harder then putting custom firmware on a psp wich i did with ease.

4.Place phone in bootloader mode (power button while holding volume down button)
5.open the ROMUpdateUtility.exe
6.follow the RUU on screen instructions from there
Oh and i just for fun did the power and down volume key and i went to the 3 color thing and it says security unlocked and i dont think i unlocked it yet......

That is dependant on which ROM you choose......... which rom did you choose?
Most roms are alot easier than that now.
EDIT** If it says .35 cmonex in bootloader then it IS unlocked. Nothing against XDA but for your CDMA Touch Pro you reallly need to be over at PPCGeeks for this. That Crossler post you linked to hasnt been updated for 3 months now. Crosslers Kitchen on PPCGeeks was updated yesterday , just a thought

Accept T-Mobile Update?

My Vibrant is telling me that T-Mobile has kindly sent me an update. I think it must be the GPS fix. It is rather persistent in that it won't let me choose when to install it. It will only allow me to delay for at most a day. This is quite annoying as I am preparing for a trip and really don't want to mess around with my phone right now.
I am running Vibrant9. Do I want to install this update? Is it gonna break anything? Thanks!

Shouldn't break anything. Most are still waiting for the update. Personally I was impatient and flashed it through ODIN last night.
OK. I accepted the update. Phone is now stuck on "Vibrant" at reboot. Sigh. Proceeding to trying to restore ROM.

Go to the Development section that are a few threads about this. I looks like anyone with a lag fix, or GPS fix (from JI2) where having this issue, plus I have seen stock people having it too.
Or you can go read my blog post here. the post tells the steps I took to get back the JFD, but you could flash JI6 instead.
you will need to flash JI6 with ODIN to restore, you can not just do a nandroid restore, it is an issue with the kernel and nandroid does not restore/backup the kernel.

It's not Samsung or T-Mobile.. its that the OP performed tweaks so the ROM wasn't a 100.00% version of Stock. Tweaks including lag fixes, GPS fix, etc can cause this.
Personally, I don't know why if you're performing tweaks on your phone and are on a stock ROM. If you're going to tweak your phone, go the full way and tweak everything.
This is why t-mobile had the G2 nand locked..... so this type of user error won't cost them millions, replacing phones that the user messed up with blind stupidity.... that's only for the ones under warranty, you can still call in a lost phone and get replacements..

That's not true, it is Samsung/T-Mobile fault. I know 3 people with 100% stock, unrooted, vibrants, 2 of them got stuck when they updated. the t-mobile forums filled with stock users with their phone stuck at the vibrant screen as well.

And what are the chances of this?
Everybody lies.. especially when they're desperate and unwilling to accept the fact that they modified their phone. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't lie to T-Mobile and say that they didn't modify their phones if its "bricked." Because it is not bricked, all it takes is download mode and Odin. There are threads out there that break down on how to use Odin, it's not that difficult to do.
This is why I don't endorse "One Click" anything unless it is a long process. Sure, it makes everything easier but it makes people not think about what they're doing before they do it. Before one clicking, rooting was so simple, put something on your internal sd and boot into recovery and hit reinstall packages. If something like that is too difficult then they shouldn't be doing any modifications in the first place unless they understanding what they're doing.
The T-Mobile forum is not a valid source because there is no concrete proof that they didn't root their phone and modified something. Even rooting and removing bloatware then removing access to root would cause this.
Edit: Looking at the OP's recent posts.. he did indeed run a custom ROM but has possibly did some tweaking after reverting back to stock?

Well, I know the 2 people that updated stock and got stuck at the vibrant screen were 100% stock because they both called me on what they need to do. one came over and I fixed it with ODIN back to stock (JI6) and the other just said he'd call TMO and get a replacement. they dont even know what rooting is, or that there is a site like that that they can get files to do "one click root"
OK. I'm the OP and I'm back. I was traveling today (with a phone flashed back to stock - that's as far as I got before getting kicked out of the hotel). I've now got the ROM restored and I'm where I was before trying to install the update.
My question is this (probably simple): my phone still wants to do the update. How do I make it go away? I can't install it, and I don't want to have to postpone it every day. Is there a cache I can clear or something?
You could just update it through Odin. I'm on stock with root and JAC's oc/uv kernel and the OTA failed but Odin worked perfectly.
Yes, I will try to flash it with odin when I have the time and interest, but for now I have neither, and I just want the phone to stop bugging me. Ideas?

Thanks for the link. It really looks to me that I'm going to need to flash to a stock ROM before flashing JI6. That, as they say, is a bummer.
As I am actually quite content at the moment with Vibrant9, it really seems to me that it would be easier to somehow remove whatever it is on my phone that is requesting that I update. Presumably there is an update.zip file sitting somewhere, that will be copied into sdcard before the updater involves reboot recovery. Any ideas where to look?
I would really rather not do any further flashing until is an official Froyo to flash to.

Am i the only one that loves to search on Google when i face a problem?
These terms i speak of , are backup images for your tablet.
Let me explain better. Your device is like a computer. It has a OS, operating system, Your tablet is probably Android ?
When you first get the phone, before you change anything, it has a stock recovery, so if you play with it too much, and mess it up , you can return it to factory settings, like a computers recovery partition.
or the factory oem disks they send you if you break your PC. Well within the Open source community, you can find these images for your tablet, MAYBE... depends on how cool your tablet is.
Search my friend. Talk to the guy who sold you a hunk o junk, and ask him.. or make Google" your best friend...

Lol...He doesn't know what a kernel, recovery or nandroid is and you expect him to have changed his kernel or recovery to root and install cwm or twrp?Ask your best friend on how to gain cwm without changing recovery and lets face the rest in future. And what he needs to search for when he is a noob with no knowledge on what it came with?Understand that everyone on xda doesn't know much about those and even some about root!do thinking everyone here has their phone rooted and installed custom recovery is just foolish!
You have to act sensibly when trying to help a noob.Answer your best or if you can't just ignore the question and someone with more knowledge will help.Dont mislead noobs!
To the OP(The thread creator): After factory reset,it is normal for the device to start up late.It may take well above 5 minutues because it has to rebuild device setup wizards (not technical but to understand). So wait for about 10 mins.If it doesn't boot, ask your seller if he knows how to enter stock recovery. Then you may do another factory reset from there and see if it works.

I browse through these threads every day and nobody helps these "noobz" as you call them. or they put up an ignorant reply. atleast i took my time and gave him my opinion. Before i posted, nothing was on here. Even if he does not have a rooted device, after receiving my answer, he now has terms to go to "Google" and search them out. A"backup image" is on a phone rather its rooted or not. If he is not using a phone to get on XDA then he is probably on a computer, i tried to explain things and relate them with computer terms, thank u and God bless

Seriously???God damn!Dude..please dont talk about something you never know of!How and where in the earth(well in phone actually) would the "BACKUP IMAGE"(the whole system as you mean) would be stored except those nandroid and craps done after rooting??Again I say, dont answer if you are unsure of it.Its not your device and you are putting someone's else device at risk.It is far better to ignore or give/refer to an alternative than misguiding!
So, you trying to start a flame war on this "new users" thead, Let me ask you this , when you press data /factory reset on your phone, How does it return it to factory setting, Is it not a image that it uses to return everything to normal?
Really? your advice to the lil dude was wait 5 minutes. HMMM
Why don't you explain to me, What is an OTA package, when our phones upgrade "over the air" ...is this not an image that is sent to our phone to install update images?
But i guess you do not know? Because i'm looking at 3 OTA on my sd card , one themed by guspeed, one rooted, and a normal one..but i don't know about phones right?
With PlayfulGod's and Hroark13' hard work, I was able to compile a 10.1 jellybeer rom with mods, but i dont know about phones right?

Dude!I'm not here for a flame war!Every android phone has something called /system and /data./system contains all your rom's apk, framework, libs etc and your /data contains your personal data, apps downloaded from playstore, app data, settings etc. When you do a factory reset, your /data gets wiped off/formatted and hence all your settings gone and your phone is new again. And when it boots again,it has to dex optimise the apks and framework (if deodexed),setup your phone for first boot etc apart from starting core services and hence the delay for the first time.
OTA updates are never an IMG!OFC or phone's roms are not mere 30mb or 40mb!And if you dont get surprised I have received a 15mb update and you think galaxy note with soooooo many features can be packed into 15mb when its odin rom image is aroung 700mb?Thats 46x compression and I dont think it exists!OTA updates are just a zip containing diff files from the previous build which gets updated through stock recovery(more like flashing a custom rom but automated and some changes in zip). That never proves to be a backup to the entire phone!
All those 3OTA's in your phone you are looking at are not OTA!Its just a cwm update zip IMO!Get it checked with guspeed.
Oh...you compiled a rom!Good work :good: but if you really understood what you were doing, you must also have come to know what I have said above and feel free to verify it with others .
Oh...and for all your question at the end: Yes, you were right .Sorry Ego is human's devil!
If you still feel,I dont know anything thats fine. Please let me know how to restore the "backup image" you said without root and I will be happy to learn it.Unfortunately your best friend (mine too) didnt help me out
Finally,Im stopping it here.I dont have to increase my post count on BS!Will be reporting for a clean up.

Thank you -- ?2011 for your info, See that is the reason i am here. Not only to help but also to learn.
The OTA "packages were frauds, I did not know this. They pushed them in the thread as real OTA images from the latest upgrade.
As far as the tablet- I think its , like i said before-halfway broken..

So it boots fine but overheats and reboots?Hmm...I guess its really a bad tab which has no optimisation in any way...you gotta talk to the seller to get ur money back or a credit note imo...

[Q] I know this is dumb, but how do i get a new rom??

Prolly been asked numerous times but cant seem to find anything on it. I spent about 5 hours today just rooting my phone because instructions are never clear and i had to do trial and error before i finally got it, so i am by no means an expert!
I have a verizon lg g2 and am wanting to put the malladus 1.2.2 rom on it but have absolutely no clue how!
Directions say flash rom, but i have no clue what that even means. I have done this back in the day 3 times to my original galaxy s and got it but the directions were clear.
do i have to get e recovery program? i read something about that and also a clockworkmod or something?
So if someone could or would have the patience to explain to me step by step what needs done, i would GREATLY appreciate it. Like i said, all i have done is rooted it and i downloaded the malladus 1.2.2, the lg apps, and the gapps that it said i needed but dont know where to go from there.

I have made sure the name matches the img file in my folder and everything yet still nothing!! PLEASE HELP!! im going on 9 hours now messing with this and have got o where
well thanks to all your help or lack there of, i now have a bricked phone because no one wants to tell me anything or help. Thanks
Not everyone here has a Verizon LG G2, You should have come to the IRC and directed your questions there first and been more patient if you're unfamiliar with these sort of things. Your bricked phone is no ones fault but your own, sorry.

You're welcome. You asked for help, chose not to wait so you went ahead and did it - and failed. Yes, that's our fault. You shouldn't do things you have NO clue about. The first thing you should do is to READ. If you can't find the things you need, then SEARCH. There are over 5 million registred users here, so your questions have most likely been asked several times before, i.e they are here and you can search for them.

Dude, this is not a user support forum and no one is sitting around waiting for someone like yourself to ask questions that can only be answered by doing research that you should be doing yourself. You and only you are responsible if you bricked your device.
If you want help, your chances are higher if you post in your device specific forum, provide enough detail for people to know exactly what you did so they can provide accurate advice, and then be patient and wait for as long as it takes. Or you could do your own research and figure it out.
Funny, i didnt brick my phone, just was curious as to how many people would decide to talk if it meant they could get rude with me lol
And i posted where i thought i was supposed to, i couldnt find my phones forum. Sorry, and i DID read, i have been reading non stop, the advice just isnt working.
I tried flashify after reading that it worked (on here) and it said it did but after reboot i just get a dead droid and have to hold down vulume key and power to get it back on and recovery or download startup dont work now!
I am not impatient and i understsand im not the center of everything, just figured someone could chime in with some advice, but i guess its only worth typing if you have something unhelpful to say!

[Q] S4 AT&T Rooting..Need help.

Okay, Im pretty new to XDA forums, and well, android devices in general. I recently purchased a Galaxy Tab 3. Which I was able to root successfully, but to later find out, it somehow got a virus and is now running super slow, even after a Factory Reset. But anyways. This comes to what I need help with.
I have a
Samsung Galaxy S4 AT&T
SAMSUNG SGH-1337
Android Version: 4.4.2
Base: 1337UCUFNB1
Im wanting to root for more performance and just to have alot more access to my device.
Now i have searched on google for hours at a time, but cant seem to find the same exact device tutorial for my phone.
I need this for work, so I want to make sure im doing this exactly right, and don't screw up my phone, or loose any contact data or anything of that sort. Can someone link me to a Simple tutorial that can help me root this device? Im new to the Android community so sorry for asking a stupid question! thanks guys!

1st off, the Galaxy Tab definitely doesn't have a virus. Malware perhaps, but not a virus. To make sure you completely rid your tablet of any left over issues, it would be recommended to reinstall the whole OS via the Odin program as that rewrites the /system partition too as the factory data reset only clears out /data. After you reinstall, then do a factory reset again. If the issue persists after that, there might be another problem that is not software related. It would serve you well to understand how to use Odin. It is a great tool that can get you out of MOST trouble you can find yourself in when modifying your devices.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2459734
Just make sure you use the corresponding firmware/software for your model as there are a few different Galaxy Tabs and it matters the size and wifi or data+wifi as well.
As far as the rooting of the S4, well, unfortunately you got pretty much the trickiest one to do. Remember Odin ^^^, this will be another reason to get comfortable with it...

OH!! Thanks for the advice on the Tab. Hmm The s4 is the trickiest one? Is it even worth the time to root then? I mean, I had the tab for a week rooted. And it was very useful. Would the s4 be the same?
And would there be a video tutorial on this? That way im 100% sure im doing it right?

Is it worth it to root it? Only you would be able to answer that. Personally, I couldn't imagine NOT being rooted. I hate not having control over my phone. There are a couple of extra steps here, but nothing some careful reading and well placed questions couldn't get you through. And the chance of you doing something that can't be fixed by Odin, is not impossible, but very unlikely. I've done stuff like this 100s of times and have never bricked one doing these types of things. This thread seems to have broken it down a bit more clearly:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51331630
But read that, and read through some of the comments. Any issue you come across has almost certainly popped up somewhere in those 2 threads with 100s of responses.
Now one thing im not understanding, is the downgrading? And How do ROMS work?
and how would i know what model it is. Example: Mk2,Mk4?
Well, there is currently no method to root 4.4.2 as is, which is why you need to downgrade back to 4.3, since there is a way to root on it, and then it tells you how to update back to 4.4.2 while keeping the root access. Roms (in the phone/tablet world) are basically a package (usually zip format) that contains the operating system. Think of it as a Windows or Linux install disc, in zip format.
Just a quick little beginner's guide to the main terminology you will see:
http://www.androidpit.com/custom-rom-and-root-the-most-important-terms-explained
Okay! Thanks for all of your help! Ill try to root my device. If i have any questions, ill come back here Thanks!
Happy to help, though you might have better luck asking your questions in those threads. I understand how to do this, but haven't had a chance to root one on 4.4.2, so the people who have done it recently probably have it fresh in their mind still.
