[Q] Need help with Samsung Galaxy Light T339N Metro PCS - Samsung Galaxy Light Questions & Answers

Okay, so heres my story.
I bought a Samsung Galaxy Light, SGH-T339N from the local Metro PCS Store, and yeah, it had a 4 for 100 dollars plan, and used Metro PCS networks.
A few days ago, with my phone rooted, and all working fine, I installed the stupid app called Chainfire 3d.
So yeah, it bricked my phone.
Me, being Mr. Dumbass, performed a factory reset, and wiping everything.
Well guess what.
My entire OS and every freaking thing was wiped.
So yeah, I turned to the internet for help.
I followed all of the instructions here:
http[colon]//androidforums.com/threads/guide-restore-your-galaxy-light-to-stock-mja[dot]846767/
And guess what, it turned my phone into a T-Mobile phone. Now, its saying No Sim Inserted, and I can't make any calls or texts, even though my SIM is perfectly valid and everything. It was working fine!!! Now I don't know what to do.
So to sum everything up, I'm stuck with a T-Mobile Phone and OS with a bunch of crap T-Mobile apps and stuff, (which used to be a MetroPCS phone and OS with MetroPCS apps), and a MetroPCS SIM card.
So what I'm thinking is that I need a Metro PCS, Samsung Galaxy Light, SGH-T339n stock rom with all of the Metro PCS stuff, so my SIM can start working on the phone.
So I would be VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY Happy if someone provided to me a file or link or something to restore my phone to its factory defaults so my perfectly valid SIM can start working on the phone and connect to the networks again!
Once again, I need a Samsung Galaxy Light SGH-T339N that runs on Metro PCS networks or has Metro PCS apps and stuff stock rom.

I emailed Samsung last week asking for the Metro PCS firmware for the Samsung Galaxy Light. They just posted it on their page today. Here is the link: sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SGH-T399N/
---------- Post added at 12:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:36 PM ----------
i know that it says T-Mobile but it is clearly the Metro PCS firmware. I can confirm that it works. After downloading follow these instructions:
Instructions
Extract (unzip) the firmware file
Download Odin v3.09
Extract Odin zip-file
Open Odin v3.09
Reboot phone in Download Mode (press and hold Home + Power + Volume Down buttons)
Connect phone and wait until you get a blue sign in Odin
Add the firmware file to AP / PDA
Make sure re-partition is NOT ticked
Click the start button, sit back and wait a few minutes

hello,
I am from Venezuela and currently I use a Samsung T399 for T-Mobile released (for use in my country) and for updates, custom rom, etc etc I learned a new rom for my cell phone, which is available now in SamMobile, les Here is the link to the page you obviously have to log in or subscribe to this ad ,I clarify to them that this rom is android 4.4.2 KIT KATonly for users METROPCS, in view of the case that are suffering here I hope they serve this option, I is working me perfectly since it is an unlocked phone to use and not I affects the functions of these operators (t-mobile and METROPCS), installing nothing great, ODIN 3.04,3.07 etc etc, installation from the PDA and ready, for those not familiar as flash, there is much information on the internet. .......... greetings

Samsung Galaxy Light
Everything seems to be mostly for the T-Mobile device and not for the MetroPCS.

Nothing fishy about sammobile. Just a site that hosts official samsung firmware. Download speeds are just incredibly slow., but sammobile now has the stock rom for the metropcs version that you can flash. I assume since he flashed the t-mobile stock rom that he could just flash the metropcs stock rom through odin and it would fix everything.

Hi there
So now see your answer. I have a cell phone Samsung SGH-t399n, which works well for a year. Suddenly, because of an update he stopped receiving calls and messages. The display shows looking for the sign but never found. I factory reset and reset rom with Odin software but still the same. As I read on the internet it is necessary to make a final process with Z3X box, but do not have and do not know if there is another way to repair my phone.
Thanks in advance!

Cyanogenmod is a well known custom rom that can be flash with most android devices. 12 is one of the more recent versions. There's a build for the galaxy light but it's incomplete and still has bugs. Doubt it will ever be finished since development on this phone is low.

Edit:
How to root:
I followed the directions in this thread.
http://teamuscellular.com/Forum/topi...2Bstock++tar
Except for the stock kernel I used the FF24 one. I uploaded to here:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/usnhbh2n9ksj08s/VMAJKof_-C
This will get you root, but stay mostly stock.
Well I have a Generic Samsung Galaxy S2
Model: SCH-R760
Android version: 2.3.6
Baseband: S:R760.01 K.FF24
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-SCH-R760.XARFF24-CL1125314 [email protected] #2
Build: GINGERBREAD.XARFF24
I am looking for how to obtain root only. I believe this can only happen by flashing another Kernel, in which case I would like to know how to back up my current Kernel.
Any help with this would be great. I know source is available from Samsung, but I have not learned how to build from source yet.
Thanks,
Ralph McDade
BUMP Me too, exact model. Am wanting to root. Any one with any info on how?
to root it looks like you are going to have to flash another kernel. If you have US cellular there are backups and rooted kernels. If you are on another carrier, you can flash the us cellular kernel and then reprogram the phone for your carrier. The problem with this is depending on what kernel you are on, you may not be able to go back to stock.
I am working on contacting Samsung to see if I can get the stock software that is currently in my phone. I will keep you posted.
No, It's not a US Cellular phone
I understand that, mine isn't either. But it looks like we can use the kernel from the US cellular that has been rooted. Or wait till a one-click root comes out for 2.3.6. Which maybe never due to work being done for newer android phones. Sorry, who is your carrier. If we can find the stock Kernel we could modify it. Problem is Samsung has not release it, only the source.
Mine is [email protected] #2
My carrier is a local company called Pioneer Cellular. All of my stats (kernel, build etc) match yours exactly
---------- Post added at 07:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:25 PM ----------
Is there a way to pull the kernel from the phone using odin?
I will let you know what I figure out. I am going to get in touch with my provider and see if they can provide the software. I doubt it though.
I have tried all of the one click solution none have worked.

Yes, we have successfully rooted. Follow the instructions in the following post. If you are on FF24 instead of FF18 then download the stock FF24 from page 2 in the same thread (post # 25 by mcdader) instead of in step 3.

Or follow the instructions in THIS post. They are the same as the ones above but with an FF24 link added to step 3.
Hey guys, I have got a generic CDMA sch-r760 and am looking to flash a custom kernel with cwm included. Any ideas where I can find one? Haven't had much luck okn finding mods for this. Yea there really isnt much on this phone. I havent had any luck. I have given up on it. Glad its not my phone! I just went and got an s3 yesterday
Idk know if its good or bad news, but to those on alltel. AT&T is currently in the process of acquiring ALL of alltel's asset's ,soo the life of our S2's is short...

sch-r760 rooted, use on other cdma services?
So i have my us cellular galaxy s2 phone rooted with some app exnos abuse or something like that. What i am wondering is if there is some way to get this phone to work with other cdma services such as verizon, verizon prepaid, straight talk, or even U-Prepaid( i guess this is us cellular, but they wont let you use a us cellular contract phone... Say what!?) Just so we are all on the same page, i am very much a noob when it comes it flashes and kernals. I used to toy around with flashing basic verison phones so that they would run java apps, but thats about it(lg phones turned into super nintendo).
I have searched around, but the only thread i found asking this same thing had no solution and a bunch of ppl complaining how it was on the wrong forum. So i thought i could post here? I hope nobody minds overly much.
Anyway, if this is possible i would love to hear from someone maybe get me pointed in the right direction.
I aslo read that verizon will not add meid numbers to their database. Do you think it would be possible to take the ein and meid of a verizon basic phone and put them on my device? Would i be able to get 3g if i did ths or do you think they would view ot as a basic phone on verizon's zide?
For the MEID swap NO. It's basically your phones fingerprint, assigned to that device built in to the hardware . Although you could clone another phone if its the same, but that is a felony. So I wouldn't try it. But flashing to another carrier, would require the stock files for that particular device. I.e if ur going from say Alltel phone to USSC you could flash USSC stock file to your phone. But it would basically have to be the same model GS2>GS2 and hardware.etc

really?

What so to clone the meid of one device i own to another device i own is a felony? I bet that freakin FCC is behind this!
That aside, i've seen people talking about scripts that allow a user to install a newer android version from a similar device on another network, then the script edits the back to be able to use uscc, is there any way i can manually edit these settings so that i can connect to another network? I'm sure i can convince someone at straight talk to add my meid to their cdma service if their towers see my device. What with that new thing they offer send u a sim card for any gsm phone. Can anyone point me in the right dicection on switching carriers this way?
Uhg sometimes text entry gets so glitchy on this thing, makes it hard to go back and chamge aomething when my curser is out of place five characters, this is my excuse for any the spwllig issues.

[Q] Serious Radio/Signal issues

Hey guys Long time creeper first time poster.
Anyways i picked up a galaxy note yesterday that was bricked for about $175. The guy had soft bricked it recovery and download were still accessible so i simply used odin to reinstall stock rogers from Da_G's thread. The guy said he bricked it because he had a JB rom on there and wanted to go back to stock but odin froze and thats how the system bricked.
Anyways right now i have the system working and running Stock ICS from Rogers. The current issue i am facing is that there is some sort of issue with the signal. The device jumps between Virgin mobile(my provide) and emergency only. Constantly i cannot get a reliable signal on the phone. Calls constantly fail and messages rarely send.
I have tried flashing the stock radio for rogers from Da_G's thread as well but no luck. The apn is correct and ive tried turning LTE off, no success at all. Does anyone in the community have any suggestions this is a really frustrating problem!
Thanks

Flash another ROM on it. And keep in mind, it was sold to you as a brick. Maybe it also had the radio issue before you got it.
You did the ICS update via OTA?
Im downloading this rom now "UCLF6 Base Rom Featuring

Will try it and see if it makes any difference.

to those who have eu 610 and rooted in haste

Like a lot of us here, I'm not a developer but a user. Like a lot of users we can get over excited and flash and roots and so on without thinking of the consequences...
I came originally from samsung phones which in all honesty are much easier to root, flash and return to total stock. but I got the HTC 610 as a gift from my phone company. I quickly hit the forums looking for a way to unlock and root my phone and did so without making sure that there was a way to return to original stock.
I'm not blaming anyone here It was me who did it so my bad, since then I have been searching on a daily basis to find original 610 eu rom with no joy.
Now I got mine working ok but like most eu users I encountered problems, my biggest was the constant problem with play services and downloading from play store and after about 6 weeks I started having the same connection problems that almost all rooted eu users have commented on...
Last week I read an article from android police that had an apk of the new play services 6.7.7 anyway when i went to check the info on mine i noticed that mine was only 6.5 which was released all the way back in November, after some research i realised my phone wouldn't update to any other, anyway after some fiddling I got the new services installed and now all my errors have disappeared, my connections have stopped disconnecting and are working totally fine...
Now i Know a lot of you will say that this doesn't affect the connections but all i'm saying is that sometimes when one thing doesn't work it can affect other things and seeing as now I've been using this for 4 days with no problems now, so maybe its worth a try if nothing else...
here is the link to the page and please read it carefully

it is but sadly i didn't make a back up of the original firmware as it was before it was rooted I kind of got ahead of myself and flashed everything in one post... only reason I didn't make a back up was because it was new out of the box so I didn't have any personal data to lose... now I'm using a stock Asian rom that was posted by mini blu on another thread... after some tweaking I've got it working fine now...
shame if i can get a proper eu dump even with root i can make a non rooted stock package
thats the problem
coming from samsung its really easy to get original firmware so i just assumed that the same would be with htc... oh well lesson learned...
htc used to be fine too, they just started being problematic here in the EU, in the states the RUU is clearly available for anyone to download, asking for a european version over live chat got my IP blocked from HTC support as "suspicious"

I contacted HTC US and they advised me to contact HTC Croatia (which I'm from). Then I contacted HTC Croatia and they said (after having no clue what I'm talking about, sending me links to kernel source and how to unlock my bootloader) I should contact authorized service of HTC in Croatia. Authorized HTC service told me that they don't have that file and pointed me to HTC Croatia... Maybe it's better that I didn't get any answer at all.

so the wifi and mobile data work fine on my modified stock asian, the 3g but no wifi on zubairali00's backup of his eu rom.... what would i need to take from my rom to make his wifi work???.... If I can figure this then I can make a rom that is combination of his and mine which should be modified stock with superuser, xposed framework, but connects with both wifi and mobile data with no problems...
any ideas?

Yeah im gonna be uploading it to AFH should be on later tonight sorry for the delay ..

I had to donate $5 to SamFirm.net but I am currently uploading them to AFH, link is below. The PIT file is ready, but ROM still uploading as of 7:40 am CST

As Always, you are on your own with theses files should you choose to flash them. They were posted HERE and I re-hosted them to AFH after paying the $5 "donation". One can seriously damage their device if they dont know what they are doing, if this is you...wait for a guide!
my phone did the dumb update will i be able to still flash these ?
this is that dumb update in full ROM form. these files are used mainly to go back to stock after we hopefully achieve root. or if you brick, this is the files to restore your device to that out the box state.
strange but I've always been one of those hardcore AOSP types, but with my Note 7 I only want root for a few select apps. TouchWiz is not that bad compared to Galaxy S 2 days.

lol figured it would, to many things in place by samsung to allow. plus this update that just came, i think patched 4 CVS related to Qualcomm chip and root. even if we get a basic root, we are still far from custom ROMs, need bootloader for that.
Does anyone know if this firmware can be flashed on other variants such as the Verizon N930v? Similar to the GS7/S7Edge? (I'm running factory PF2 AT&T firmware on my Verizon S7 at the moment.. flashed flawlessly without root.. I want to do the same thing but with the Note 7, since I can get Verizon devices at 2yr pricing on my business account instead of monthly payments on AT&T)
Also, is flashing the PIT file required for flashing the rest?
I dont want root I just wish there was a way to unlock tether for unlimited people

I achieved this on my S7 without root by flashing the G930U (unlocked model) firmware, as it didn't have mobile tethering restrictions. Once/if the U firmware is available for the Note 7, you could probably do the same.. pending on if all devices can receive the firmware from other models. (Which I asked on this thread a few minutes ago)..

No you don't have root. You can use Samsung Side Sync on your PC to enable tethering however. It requires the phone to be plugged into your computer/laptop though. No wireless hotspot unfortunately.

OK this is very very simple. No need to unlock sim. Download a rom from whatever service provider ie... att tmobile. The only thing you need is for it to have an aroma installer format your memory put your new Sim card in flash then go and download new recovery for the phone ie.. 900t as your recovery is 900p after then find a stock rom flash new recovery then your new stock rom and poof profit 4g. New phone. Fckn magic and I am a novice who messed with everything everyone else said with no luck best was hspa. But it would always jump towers roam no signal blah blah. Now I feel like I have a new tmobile phone 28mbs download .is the lowest I have pulled.

Have you tried it. Then dont post on my thread what am I spamming a work around that will help ppl. Your sad my friend
so, where is your work, i have note 3 sprint and i want activate 4g in europe
OK so first off...Wow try to help ppl out. You guys r a bunch off asshats, I believe I explained in the first post how to do it. And the last guy that made a post did I say Europe international unluck. My obvious answer would be just follow the one of the other post because unless your staying their I don't even know what carriers they have. But to domestically turn your sprint phone into lets say att or tmobile ir verizon. All notes have same hardware inside the only different is the locked bands you can't use. So I am going to try and make this simple as I can.
1... ROOT
2.... INSTALL CUSTOM RECOVERY
3.... DOWNLOAD A ROM WITH AN AROMA INSTALL AS THIS WILL LET IT BYPASS THE CHECK FOR THE CORRECT PHONE BECAUSE AS OF THIS POINT YOUR CUSTOM RECOVERY IS SUPPOSE TO ONLY FLASH 900P ROMS.. THE AROMA BYPASSES THIS.
4........INSTALL THE ATT...TMOBILE... ROM IT PROBABLY WON'T BE STOCK BUT ONE
5...... REBOOT.
6.....Now YOUR PHONE Is T-mobile or att.
Nit finished though
7..... Download a CUSTOM recovery for the company you switched. to I.e....twrp 2.8.7. 900t
8..... Now you can stop or what I did just to make sure things went smooth when completing the switch I installed a stock rom called the company bam
NO SIM CARD ERRORS AND FULL 4G
AS YOU ARE USING THEIR SETUP UNBLOCKED THEIR BANDS THE ONLY WAY TO TELL THIS WAS NOT THAT COMPANY PHONE IS THE IMEI STARTING wITH 99 and the frame under the battery Haz it mark.
FLASH WHATEVER ROM YOU LIKE AFTER THAT .
PLEASE STOP ACTING AS THOUGH I DID SOMETHING WRONG TRY, RECORD IT I JOHN BEIL WILL BUY YOU A NEW PHONE IF IT DOESN'T WORK. BUT WHEN YOU FIND THAT I FOUND THE EASY WORKAROUND SECRET DONATE THANK AND SHARE TOY STORY PLEASE & THANK YOU

Ok, re read again your instructions.
Flashed the stockish lollipop T-Mobile rom.
I am all ready Sim unlocked, so can't address the sim unlock.
It seems the T-Mobile rom shows the 4G icon when connected as UMTS.
Speed test shows the same 2.5 megs. I get all ready, on any other Rom.
My Verizon phone with the same Sim gets 4 times the speed on LTE.
Thanks for working on this!

Yeah so I've been flashing ROMS for quite some time. In fact I use multiboot on my Nexus 6 but anyway. I have 2 Note 3s and just bricked one of them when I flashed the wrong recovery in Flashify. I am going to try and restore it with ODIN and I hope it works. I flashed Darklord's Note 5 port which was absolutely stunning till I killed the phone with the wrong TWRP recovery. The phone had the SIM not valid in another language so I'm guessing flashing the right recovery would have made it work for T-mobile. Anyway, this will be my first brick after all of these years. My other Note is booting now and I hope the T-mobile and Straight Talk sims work. If per chance it does, I can then flash the Darklords ROM and still have service? I ask because you said you can go ahead and flash any ROM you like. Edit: I am having a hard time getting this to work. Is there any way you could just tell me what particular ROM you used because now I tried the Kitkat ROM and it will not boot. Please help. Thanks!
Ok follow the directions next time I don't know if you can Odin because of adb, but Samsung has an app, don't use flashify for this use twrp don't download a T-Mobile recovery till after u flash the aroma ROM then flash T-Mobile recovery then any T-Mobile rom

I completely understand that but can you please link me to the ROM you used or any Lollipop ROM that works? I ask because I cannot find ONE with Aroma installer for T-mobile that is 5.0. The kit kat ROM I just installed is stuck on the Samsung boot animation and won't boot.
