What you get !!!
You can charge your Xperia Z1 / Z2 without opening the terminal cover.
Just attach this product to the tip of your micro USB cable, it will turn into a useful charging cable
Provides you a "quick connect" chargeable option without opening the cover each time.
Prevent getting moisture due to incomplete lid because you don't need to take it off.
Terminal is equipped with reverse protection which energizes only when there is a correct connection.
PROS
· The magnet is definitely strong enough to hold the phone in the air and it fits well on the port.
· There is good clearance between the phone and the adapter to have a case on and still be able to use it.
· Is affordable and so far it works.
· It seems to have a good build quality.
CONS
· You CAN”T talk on the phone while charging because the cable eventually falls to side and disconnects.
· You have to keep it in a flat surface in order to work best.
· If at all possible a thinner cable would work best because a stiff cable seems to disconnect it if it gets touch or moved.
Final thoughts
This adapter seems to be a good way to keep the flap on the charging port from opening and closing so much. I think is a good product if you’re willing to spend $15 on it and wait two weeks. I will test the charging speed and voltage and update later!!!!

is the magnet strong enough to hold the phone by itself?
sorry just noticed the pros

just go for the magnector X2 adapter on amazon

I ended up purchasing this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00RLOO4KA?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00
It's cheap and fits in with the Z3, and looks sleek,

a lot of people are buying this particular adapter, can you use it with the case on with out disconnecting?

eventually falls to side and disconnects? Does it mean it is not tight?

it is tight, but if you have a very stiff cable like mine and I use the one that came with the phone it does disconnect if you pick up the phone while charging. I can see how a thinner cable could work.
I also think if the magnet was stronger than what it currently is you may take the risk of pulling the whole port out after everyday or every other day use !!!!

Xperia RAY induction charging mod

Just finished the Sony Ericsson Xperia RAY induction wireless charging mod
http://www.pbase.com/xperia_mods/xperia_ray_induction_charging_mod
All you need is about 15$ to order "Palm Touchstone" kit on e-bay, a bit of adhesive copper foil and
2 ohm SMD (1/8 or 1/4w) resistor is needed to balance on peak. Will not work without it.
Great mod indeed. thanks
i think this is similar to this:

yes. I't like to pay 39.99 for this magic battery and skip doing this tedious reverse engendering.
But this Powermat was still not out in the market of more then few phone models. In this 2010 video they'd planed to integrate induction coil into the battery. The idea with the battery replacement was great but still not commercially available. I suspect in reality it was tricky to make it work and it will reduce the battery capacity (as some battery room will be taken by induction coil and charging control circuit). Also Li-Ion battery can blow up or ignite when overheated or shortened. I guess they don't want to take this extra responsibility. So they roll back to selling Battery Doors & special bulky cases with induction coils. The need to integrate it into the heart of the phone (as we do with soldering + wire to the usb plug) prevents them to apply it to more phone models.
But your question can lead to a new great mod.
We can use this "Battery Door for BlackBerry Curve 8300" for just $4.78 or this and integrate it into the Xperia. However solution will be more expensive (due to mat costs) to that with PALM, we might skip ripping the phone, soldering and voiding the warranty.
If somebody will donate me this receiver door and the mat i'd try to do for him...
so you think we can have a wireless adapter for our mini pro?

I need to see it. I used to have x10 mini and the back of it was not flat. So it can prevent proper contact of coils. mini pro is a bit flatter. i need to hold it and Palm or Powermat coils in my hands to confirm
i had x10mini also.
unfurtenully i cannot donate you the material but i want so much wireless charging.
in alternative i have an idea:
maybe its possible to attach something to the battery to use duracell inductive charging mat no?

all this inductive charging works on the same principal
you need coil + mini controller + tiny align magnets on both sides.
unfortunately you can't connect it directly to the battery as li-on/li-pol battery are not that easy to charge and phone should control the charging process.
So you need to connect it to usb charging.
Maybe you can use something like this that connects to micro usb plug:

Question on the resistor
Hey There, im currently based in HK and im struggling to track down where i can get a 2ohm SMD resistor (is it 2 omh or 2k ohm??), Could you link me to a site i could buy them from i have tried Google but no luck on just getting a few. Would very much appreciate it.
Cheers,

nice i try it too.
would love to see this on mini pro
Great stuff! Will be trying this.

Review - 4500mAh Power Case (External Battery Case)

Thought I'd review one of the cheaper battery cases you might find on your local eBay or on DealExtreme or other similar Chinese/HK e-tailers for about £20-25. I got mine off eBay and it arrived well packed in its own plastic box;

Only a battery and manual in the box.
Provided manual (Chinese language on other side not photographed)
It has a velvet like backing to help avoid scratching up the back of your phone and uses the magnetic side ports to charge phone. Micro USB charging port is on the bottom.
Camera cutout is in the right place but the plastic is a little cheap, as the light leaking through the body of the case demonstrates. You can sort of see the internals at the right angle.
Doesn't block any buttons or the headphone jack and lower eyelet but covers up the sim/microSD slot which is fine as they are not frequently accessed.
On the downside, it makes it difficult to open the battery charging port on the phone because the little notch to open the door is underneath, and blocked by the case.
For me, the charging notch sits in the gap between my thumb and the phone when I hold the phone as I usually do, so I think it actually helps me grip better.
Despite the flimsy looking leg, it is actually quite stable and doesn't tip as easily as some similar cases I've had for other phones.
And finally, the battery tests, it seems to give me about an 80% charge on two different runs and takes about 2.5 hours to empty. Battery logs below.
Second run;
Conclusion,
It doesn't deliver as much charge is I'd hoped but can nearly double your battery life. The cost is a similar doubling of the overall thickness, but the curved back makes it more comfortable to hold. It also gives me peace of mind that I won't scratch the glass rear. On the downside, the plastic quality is poor and attracts smudges easily but I won't expect the thing to fall apart in your hands.
So if the price is right for you, it seems to work as it should and will easily extend your battery life.
The power case.. or any case for that matter isn't something I'm interested in...
But you've done a great job with this thread. Detailed look at the unit with imagges, and discussed every major point. Nice work!
Hi where did you buy this case?
Thank you for the kind words Hamdogg.
Impetus, I bought mine from here; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261298963835. There are many places which seem to sell a similar product so I may go with whoever can ship it to you quickest or cheapest.

I tried that one for my GS 3 and I remember if you don't place the phone directly on the connector perfectly, it would scratch the hell out of it. You have to line it up perfectly. Instead I went w/ a Zenis dock. Can't find it for the G3
I'm thinking about this but not sure if it'll fit even the slimmest case:

I use the Nokia DT-910, charges great, have one on my work desk and my night stand, been using them since the HTC DNA.

I also modded a Nokia DT-900 to be a charging car dock.
And, the LG spare battery charger works as a stand, maybe even with a slim case, but not with my Otterbox Symmetry.

I got this one. It has an adapter that you can remove that lets you use a 'slim' case in the dock. I'm currently using the CruzerLite Bugdroid case and it fits just fine. If you keep the adapter in then it fits the G3 without a case.
The base is rather stable. There is some weight to it that keeps it from tipping over, but it does have a wobble if you try to tip it yourself. Also, if you're charging an extra battery while the device is docked, it's not enough power to charge both devices. I think the extra battery takes priority because with both in it, the phone slowly loses a charge even though it has a charging symbol/
I am rather please with it, I just use the LG extra battery charger instead of using this to do it

Does this modded DT-900 give enough juice to run the GPS and still charge on the go? I want to do the same type of setup for my car.

It's fine as long as your screen brightness isn't turned all the way up. I also don't run my GPS solid. I check it to confirm my route, then I'll start it up again when I get close.
Wireless charging isn't as fast as wired, and there is some heat generation, so if your screen's on while it's charging and running GPS, it will be getting pretty warm.

I'm guessing this would depend on the adapter you are using with it. My guess would be a higher amperage adapter would be able to charge both.
I got this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/251590336467?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
Great quality material and looks nice. Has a green light when connected. Also has on OTG capabilities.
Also comes with a 120cm data cable.
I got my two docking stations the other day, but I don't have my G3 yet, so I can't tell how nice it fits.
Tried my brother's Galaxy S4 and it fits it perfectly and charges at a 1700 MAH.
If you are looking for a dock that will use usb cable, I would highly recommend keeping an eye for this one
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/957745871/arq-apple-or-android-iphone-6-5s-5c-5-ipad-s4-s5-n
Unfortunately they are sold out at the moment. I was a supporter so I received my Arc last week. I can finally say I found a dock that can be used with just about any case. I actually picked this up for use with my LG G Pad, but works just as well with the G3. (Using Qi with the G3, so this will primarily be for my G Pad). The back / pins are easily adjustable, as well as the usb cable, so it will indeed fit any case out there. Only thing is you would need to readjust if changing cases often. Again, works well. Keep an eye out for when they are publicly available.

wireless charger

i found a qi charging reciever that delivers a 1000ma output which i suppose will work.
it shows a height on the pad to be about 9mm.
does anyone have any experience using the wireless chargers with this phone?
i know i can build a dock pretty easily, so building a receiver might not be that hard either, but id rather modify something that works already and then reverse engineer from there.
The receivers are generic now and can be found for under $10. It looks like the G4 Plus is an ideal candidate for one since the back cover pops off and also the MicroUSB port is right at the edge of the cover. I've seen someone post a video on YouTube of a G4 Plus with one of these installed.
The 2 concerns I have:
- In the YouTube video the person showed that the back cover didn't close 100% near the MicroUSB port. I imagine this might differ between receivers and could be worked around by using a knife and making the opening around the MicroUSB a hint bigger. It is just the back cover after all... easily replaced.
- When you have one of these plugged in, it occupies the MicroUSB port, which means no more Turbo Charging or PC access without a hassle. Since I would like to retain those features and also since I have backed ZNAPS on kickstarter, this is a deal breaker for me.
I plan to get one of these and solder it to the internal side of the MicroUSB port. That works around both of my concerns (but would void warranty).
I have one of those receiving adapters in my drawer, and two Qi chargers, from my previous phone. Wasted money.
The receiver gets hot while delivering the charging current. They are installed on top of the battery - battery that gets hot anyway during charging.
Cumulative heating effect will lead to shorter battery life span or even worse (fires).
In my experience the G4 Plus gets a lot less warm than most others when charging (and in general) so I'm not too worried about that. In my case the wireless charger would really only be used to maintain 100% while working.
had a qi receiver still lying around and just tried this. Works well and the battery case doesn't stick up any more than without the pad. the flat ribbon cable fits right under the case. I cut away the bulky side edges of the plug itself to make it as small as possible. Charging works. I have not tested how fast it is and how warm it gets. Over the period of 15min it didn't get warm at all, but I'm sure that charging is slow.

I have tested several Wireless chargers for my N4 and S7 Edge and Nexus 7, some dose get warmer than others..
So an important thing is to get the right charger or a fan by your charger if you are councered. Otherwize i love WC and have orderd a WC reciver for my G4 plus.
But All phones do get a bit warmer with WC. ..
Samsungs fast WC have a built in fan. I dont use any phones without WC now a days, once you get use to it its great.

Hi there!
I am planing to solder this pas directly to the battery cord.
Do you think it will work well? Or do i brick my phone?
As you can see, i removed the plastic cover. So i can replace the battery without anny tool in the future (swaped the old battery with an fresh original one).

Question Peak Design Everyday case for S23 Ultra

My SS ClearCase has some crashes and not looking good anymore, so I want to replace it with Peak Design Everyday case with intention using PD car vent mount in the future because I see it's quite convenient and cool. But it's only available in stock at another city 1800km far from my city, so I cannot hand on. I have some question and hope someone has answers:
- Can I use samsung wireless charging pad when wearing that PD case?
- Its shock resistant capability is good enough? comparing with UAG case or Spigen case

Im not sure if its actually better than UAG or Spigen cause they have been in this like forever and I feel all that years of experience surely means something. I use the one from Ringke and its really good but not sure about this case.

Thank you. Does your Ringke case has magnetic itself?
I've been using this Peak Design case since March. I've dropped it a couple times on a hard stone floor with no damage to either the phone or case. It works with Anker and Ravpower pads and should work with your Samsung pad. It works beautifully with the Peak Design magnetic charging stand and magnetic car charger. It's the best case I've had in eleven years of mobile phone use and I highly recommend it.
