[TRICK] How To Make The Lockscreen Transparent *super easy* - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 Themes and Apps

locate (or create) the following file and disable the read permissions
/data/data/com.cooliris.media/files/zzzzzz_lockscreen_wallpaper.jpg
(to locate/create and edit the above file permissions use a file manager app able to navigate the /data folder.
NOTE: Manual edit of files in /data folder require root permissions so the Andriod system must be rooted first
NOTE2: This trick works on Samsung Galaxy Y stock ROM, on which the system looks for the file zzzzzz_lockscreen_wallpaper.jpg located in /data/data/com.cooliris.media/files to be used as lockscreen wallpaper. Other ROMs might look for different filename and/or different location.)
That's it!

As side note I want to add that my first read about this topic was, about two weeks ago, a thread started by XDA member recognized contributor marcussmith2626 more than one year ago (How To Make The Lockscreen Transparent) which explains a more sophisticated way to get the lockscreen transparent and that might work on a variety of ROM and devices.
Then I accidentally discovered the above trick by my own (I forgot to set the permissions after replacing the jpg file) and I decided to share it here even though I don't know if anyone had posted the same trick before as comment at the marcussmith2626 thread or anywhere else in XDA or the Internet virtual space

wooooow,awesome:laugh:
thnx for rhis.as easy and as simple as it can ever beeee.so cooooool

nice trick
Thanks for your guide its very very easy =D

[Q] ICS-Change Text on lock screen?

I know ICS is still kind of fresh, but I was looking for some input as to whether or not the "sprint" text is changeable in the following two places outlined in red:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I recently flashed my phone to Cricket, so It's just kind of annoying to see sprint there. Any help is appreciated, just looking for a direction to go in.
p.s. I'm running JoelZ9614's beta if it matters.
check in systemUI.apk/res/values/strings and look for references to "operator" - maybe you'll get lucky? ^^ that would be for dropdown. The LS one is probably in whatever houses the LS, haven't ripped ICS apart for a few weeks so I can't remember, maybe the facelock.apk or if you're lucky "lockscreen.apk" lol.
Thanks Duce! I went looking for a while and couldn't find anything except something pointing to /data/eri.xml. I remember doing that trick on my 4G. So I went the long way and decompiled framework-res and there was the eri.xml. Changed "sprint" to whatever, and it works. You can also add the eri.xml to /data/ and that works as well. Thanks again though.
If anyone else wants to, just download THIS and extract eri.xml and open it. Just edit the "sprint" part in the quotes to whatever you want, save, place xml in /data/. Then reboot and enjoy.
Luckily there's a setting in Joel's Ics rom that does it for ya. Changes it in the notification bar as well

Tool band Salival boot animation

hey there people.
before i get started please BACK UP your phone! just in case YOU screw up.
so i decided to make myself a boot animation w/ sound based on the Salival DVD that the Tool Band released some years ago. This is my first attempt (hopefully not my last) at making an animation. so i have tested the animation and it works perfecty fine on my HTC AMAZE. It is not a flashable zip, so please do not flash. please unzip and place both files in their boot animation folders. i believe that particular folder is rom specific. (Please excuse me as i am noobsome). however i am running NRGZ28 latest ICS Energy rom and the boot animation folder location is under:
system/customize/resource<----place bootanimation.zip and android_audio.mp3 files here!
Too NRGZ28 rom was missing the some coding to allow the sound file to play at startup.
Go to: system/customize/CID and find the default.xml file.
open the defualt.xml file and on the lower half of the file you will see this as the default settigns:

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Please make the change as follows:
add in: "system/customize/resource/android_audio.mp3"
dont forget to save.
I hope those of you who like Tool will enjoy this animation.
Please view my youtube video on the animation prior to downloading (i dont want to waste your time)

[TWRP] - Nexus Sea Dream

I was going to get a lot more complicated with burying the menuing system in more sub menus but decided it would be complete overkill and make a very easy to navigate menu structure more complicated than it needs to be. I still moved some things, and will be moving more. Also reverted to the bluehighway font instead of the default roboto
Feedback welcome..
Requirements:
TWRP Version 2.3.3.0
This will work with 2.4 but will lack any new menu features added in 2.4.. ie: If you're happy with your functionality as it is.. You can use it with 2.4..
A Nexus 10 (Believe me you never know)
Install:
Make a folder called "theme" inside your TWRP folder that should already be made at the root of your SDCard
Copy UI.zip into the theme folder
You're done
Uninstall:
Delete UI.zip
Version - 1.0 / 1.25.2013 / 1.36MB
To-do: Rearrange more of the menus to pull the buttons to the outer perimeter like on the main menu. Various other UI changes. A few more default images to replace.

Works great, looks nice. I don't know how much work goes into doing this, but a nexus theme would be stellar...
Looks great. Might I suggest putting your TWRP themes in one thread so they can be found easier by the masses?

A-310F_VoLTE-Wi-Fi-Call_Enabler-CSC_NEE.zip

Hi All. I just want to share something in case you want to try it.
My default csc NEE got settings for VoLTE and Wi-Fi call so I like to use that csc on every rom I flash.
I've been changing it manually for a while but got tired of, so I've made a flashable zip of it
Exception of the csc-related file "mps_code.dat" in /efs/imei/ which I won't flash!
I can't guarantee that it willl work for you since these things depends on your service provider, but you should at least get the voLTE and Wi-Fi call options available in settings.
It have been working on stock rom and advanced 3 with grace UX (didn't work with dream UX). Maybe possible with some edits.
I havn't tried the zip on A5 2017 rom, but I've successfully added it manually before so it should probably work.
I've also added some lines from advanced 3 to .xml files in an attempt to not break already included features but I didn't have time to check everything.
Be Aware That This Zip Will Replace Your Csc Folder And Add/Change Files In Your Rom, So Please Make A Backup Or Add The Files Manually. (Renaming Old Ones With .bak)I will not be held responsible if you can't find network or if your simcard burns up

New Phone - Mysterious Files in Download Folder

Hi everyone, I just got a new XZ1 today (purchased from recommended Sony retailer as new), but I noticed some unknown files in the downloads folder I'm worried about, has anybody else noticed these or know what they are?
File list:
rce_plugin_string_resource_pt_BR.json.min
rce_plugin_string_resource_fr_FR.json.min
rce_plugin_string_resource_de_DE.json.min
rce_plugin_string_resource_en_US.test.json.min
rce_plugin_string_resource_it_IT.json.min
rce_plugin_string_resource_es_ES.json.min
rce_plugin_string_resource_cz_CZ.json.min
rce_plugin_string_resource_ja_JP.json.min
rce_plugin_string_resource_v2_TYPO_TEST.json.min
rce_plugin_string_resource_zh_CN.json.min
rce_plugin_string_resource_nl_NL.json.min
CS_JIT_Animation.mp4
jit_cs_positive_preview.png
Opening one of the files in VSCode, this is what the file looks like:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I'm worried about "rce" since that seems eerily close to remote code execution.
Any advice very much appreciated.
I just found the exact same files in the download directory of an old Verizon Ellipsis tablet I just reset and renewed a few days ago. It is running 5.1.1 Lollipop
Did you find any info on this? Thx!
Bump! Found this on a phone that was purchased/reset a few days ago. BB Key2 on android 8.1.0
Files only show up when i insert a USB drive and open the file copy android native UI. Does not show up on ghostcommander unless i move the files to a new directory (but then stupid android UI deletes and recreates the file, losing all original metadata such as permission, owner etc... and the useless android UI where i can see/copy the files, do not show permission/owner)
