Gasket under the top speaker? - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone know if there is gasket under the speaker grille or the speaker grill makes it waterproof itself?

not sure
i theorized that the material there is bonded to the frame
perhaps there is a dissasembaly guide video and you can watch that to see what comes off of a Z2

I wondered about small gaps in the top of the speaker grill, but found that this won't affect waterproofness. Now I'm just curious about how the speaker is sealed.
Anyway, thanks for the info.

Audio jack fault and waterproofing

Hey, the metal ring around my audio jack has came loose. I noticed some glue residue on it, so I glued it back on.
Does this ring in any way affect the waterproofing of the phone? Or is the waterproofing seal further in?
Regards
No, it would not affect anything. The headphone hole is enclosed in a box and sealed with glue.

if you still have the mesh/grill you can just hot glue it back on (i took a toothpick with hot glue on it and spread it around the edges).
FYI, yes, gluing the speaker mesh back works for a while. If it falls of again, or in my case snaps in half, you can consider cleaning off the adhesive. This would expose the speaker hole, but it seems the speakers are powerful enough that even if you cover the speaker hole with a piece of tape, sound still pass through... that way at least dust won't get in as easily.
Also, looking into buying some wire mesh and cutting to size.
