[REVIEW] Rikomagic MK12 Review - Amlogic S812 with 2GB Ram/16GB Storage and GbE - Android Stick & Console AMLogic based Computers

Hi all,
I had a chance to review the Rikomagic MK12 - Rikomagic's new Android media player based on the Amlogic S812 chip. This is a quadcore CPU with an octacore Mali-450 GPU that supports H.265 hardware decoding.
It's a really nice box. Media playback was generally excellent, although VP8 still tripped it up as I've seen on all the Amlogic boxes I've used so far.
Gaming was pretty good, with 2D games being very fluid and 3D games like Dead Trigger 2 running well on low-medium.
Wifi performance was acceptable and I was able to stream 1080p from Samba. Ethernet is fast but not full Gigabit.

which is more important - CPU, GPU or Ram

hi,
I'm considering one of the many cheap boxes on 'fleabay' and am drawn to Amlogic CPU's, but as my title says the specs confuse me somewhat.
here are 3 for example:
1. MXQ - with Amlogic S805 Quad-Core Cortex-A5 at 1.5GHz - GPU Quad-Core Mali-450 - 1GB DDR3
2. MX111 - with Amlogic S802 Quad-Core 2.0G (Cortex-A9) - GPU Octa-Core Mali-450 - 1GB DDR3
3. M8S - with Amlogic S812 Quad Core 2GHz (Cortex-A9) - GPU Octa-Core Mali-450 - 2GB DDR3
given that the MX111 has a slower CPU than the MXQ, a faster GPU and same ram, it tends to be more expensive,
so a beginner like me could conclude that GPU is more important. - the M8S is the best spec overall so is most expensive.
I have also considered Amazon's TV box (but not the vastly overpriced one's on 'fleabay') but it is the dearest of all at £79.00
it gets great reviews, but I cannot compare the specs to the above as they use:
Qualcomm Quad Core Krait 300, up to 1.7 GHz, 2MB L2 Cache - Qualcomm Adreno 320, 400 MHz (slower?) - 2 GB Ram (not stated as DDR3)
I am on a low budget and 'she who must be obeyed' is a factor so am tempted to go for the MXQ as I am only interested in everyday streaming.
any comments would be appreciated
Hi., I've had the mx3,, but it was riddled with bugs, now Mxq (beelink) which out 3 I bought 2 are still working proper
.WiFi broke.. But with system resources Iv striped the ROM, and shut down anything Google,my free Ram hovers 2-300..

I have the MXIII (your #2) and run Kodi (Jarvis) and love it. I bought it from OneX on fleabay wth all the trimmings shown at:

MXIII G or Beelink i68 ?

Hi, which is the best ?
MXIII G or Beelink i68 ?
the main difference is CPU/GPU
MXIII G: Amlogic S812 Quad Core processor with the Octa Core ARM Mali-450 graphics engine
Beelink i68: Rockchip RK3368 processor with the Octa Core 64 bit Cortex A53 graphics engine
Both have
Android 5.1
2G / 8G
Wifi 2.4Ghz /5.8 Ghz
1000 Mbits RJ45 ethernet
Bluetooth 4.0
4K x 2K H.265 Decoding
XBMC / Kodi
Rockchip has a little more power, but Amlogic software is more optimized. I would choose Rockchip on 4.4 kitkat
It seems to me that Lolipop still has some issues with these type of SoC
What's wrong with lolipop ?
Note: Beelink i68 got hdmi 2.0 vs hdmi 1.4 for MXIII G

Zidoo X5 Review, Latest Amlogic S905 Android Media Player

It was only logical to see Android media player from Zidoo with Amlogic S905.
Because many other companies has already introduced similar device and we all know that this
chipset is offers performance at very low price. So Zidoo X5 is their newest media player.
Unboxing
Design and build
Performance and benchmark testing
Specifications:
Amlogic S905 Cortex A53 64bit Processor up to 2.0GHz
Penta-Core ARM Mali-450
System Memory – 1GB DDR3
Storage memory – 8GB plus available upgrade with microSD card
Video Output – HDMI 2.0 up to 4K @ 60Hz with CEC support
Connectivity – Bluetooth 4.0, 10/100M Fast Ethernet and 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi
USB – 2x USB
Power Supply – 5V/2A
From technical specifications we can see that this media player has medium strong built-in hardware
which has later proved to be very good for almost every purpose, from gaming to watching moves.
Every apps opens fast and works without lags. Below you can see also benchmark test results which are more or less expected.
Software
Maybe you have noticed but if you didn't, every Zidoo product comes with their customised user interface.
Zidoo X5 has also customised user interface which looks really cool. The operating system is Android 5.1.1, and it
works fast and fluid without lags. From ordinarily applications it has of course pre-installed KODI. During use I
did not encountered any problems in KODI. Below you can see some screenshots from KODI.
Zidoo X5 and KODI
Watching Supernatural
Conclusion
In my opinion Zidoo X5 is great Android media player because it offers high build quality.
But from other information it has very good hardware and excellent after sale support which is very important.
Here you can see more information about Zidoo X5, and you can find out on their official website.

Hey everyone,
It's been three months, we have gathering many PC information. You can find a re-organised PC list at here http://support.jide.com/hc/en-us/articles/221596228
Please feel free to contribute, discuss and share your findings.
Cheers,
CPU : and 8350
GPU : Radeon HD 7970
Please add support for opengles 3.0 or later for radeon driver in Remix Os, cause I can't run many apps and games that support for opengles 3.0. So I have to root Remix Is and change opengles version to version 2.0 in build.prop so apps can run,
CPU: Intel I7 2600
GPU: NVidia GTX 960
RAM: 8GB DDR3
SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 120 GB
WiFi: Realtek RTL8192CU USB 2.0
Works fine but wifi sometimes needs reset and remix os seems to use a single CPU core - CPU is heavily throttling all the time. Also the GPU is seen as VMWare generic GPU and I have no graphic acceleration. The system freezes for a few seconds when heavily loaded but I think it's due to missing graphic acceleration/missing multiple cores I guess.
surface pro 3 i3 intel hd graphic, work well, but sometime lose connection on wifi and touchscreen some time stop working and resume working after reboot
sorry for my english
Mainboard = Asus P8Z68-V
CPU =Intel Core I5 2500K (Sandybridge)
GPU = Nvidia GTX 550Ti [Fermi] (Crash opening JPG via Gallery, opening website via Firefox, maybe more ?) /
GPU = Intel HD 3000 (comes with the CPU of course) currently using. Quite stable..but ugly when watching YouTube (Color Banding) very distracting.
RAM = DDR 3 12GB
HDD = 3pcs 500GB, 1pcs 2TB.
DVD-RW Drive = 1pcs ( Is it supported yet ? ).
Audio = Mainboard audio Realtek ALC892 is working.
Network = via usb wifi TP-Link TL-WN823N (Quite unstable).
Network LAN = Mainboard Intel 82579 Gigabit LAN. ( Haven't tested yet ).
Samsung ATIV Book 2
Intel Core i5 4210U
8GB RAM DDR3
Intel HD Graphics 4400
NVIDIA GeForce 710M
Qualcomm Atheros AR956x WiFi
Realtek HD Audio
HD 1TB 5400rpm
System works fine. Runs only on GPU embedded on CPU, would be great see it running on my GeForce. WiFi signal is a little weak, but nothing too annoying. Data.img size is terrible we need more space to test the OS, root access either. Remix messes with Windows clock. Please, enable launchers from Play Store (Nova works great, for example). Sound thru HDMI support is hard, I know, but it would be so great.

Everything works except Bluetooth. Also the game KOTOR does not start because it is looking at alternate storage places even though none are installed. I also have Remix OS installed on its own partition.
Model: Samsung NP355V4C-A03MX

like was stated before, hoping for driver optimizations for the gpu, since i know that x.org is just the basic of the basic and I notice stuttering in some games that i try to play. On another note, I had one hell of a trouble to get Remix OS installed directly onto a partition that i set up for it, but it is working well now.
Surface Pro 3, i5.
Works well except:
DPI scaling has to be done before each boot
Touch screen stops working seemingly at random after a while
WiFi dropping out.
Once those things are fixed it'll be booted more than Windows
Acer Aspire one d255
cpu Intel Atom N550
Intel graphics
1 gb Ram
works really good, finaly a destop android, i love it!
Youtube and Twitch are not showing video but Dolphin browser does it and Kodi works perfect witch is really nice...

So far, I've had great success. The problem I've had are mostly with games and keyboard input. Both Dominations and Star Wars Commander, I just can't get my USB keyboard to work (the entire system will freeze up, requiring a reboot). Chrome, Firefox, etc have all been amazing. And I apologize if I've missed this elsewhere, but is there a keyboard/mouse way to do pinch to zoom?
Running this on

#2 - Intel NUC 2820
CPU: Intel Celeron N2820 (Bay Trail)

Graphics: Intel HD
Surface Pro 1 Works fine, would like to see some power saving features added..
NUC fully functional but as with many people no HDMI sound, Sound works via line out, as I run this thru my TV I can't get any sound, there needs to be HDMI sound support and a way to switch between the different outputs.
hello i'm running Remix OS on my Nextbook Flexx 11 (there is an android variant of this device)
CPU: Intel® Atom™ Processor Z3735F (1.8Ghz Quad Core 64bit)

I like many use HDMI output on my device (haven't tried it yet, I just installed this OS today) I'm very impressed with the overall speed, however we're missing a storage option in the settings menu, and my device has no sound output through the built in speakers (i have not yet tested the headphone jack). Video is a little choppy, and after changing the dpi ( 1920x1200 on 8" ) to 240 it stopps working.
And it took ages ( ~1H ) to generate that 8GB data Partition, so give the chance to change the size.
I had to use http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/winapp-android-x86-installer-uefi-t3222483 to install on a Dell Venue 8 Pro

Choppy 1080p playback on Asus Chromebox CN60 (Celeron 2955U + 8GB Ram)

After a number of failing Android TV boxes, I began searching for something better. I had set up an openelec box for my buddy on a CN60, and figured I'd do something similar as the hardware seemed more than performant.
My needs: Plex, Kodi, Netflix. Much of my local content is 1080p.
After successfully installing Remix OS (3.0.7) on my upgraded chromebox (celeron 2955u w/ 8gb ram) everything seemed to perform fairly snappy. Apps load quick. The OS itself loads quick. The trouble began when I started setting up plex and kodi.
SD is fine. 720p is a bit choppy but fairly smooth but 1080p files basically don't play at all. They begin to play and are choppy as heck. Audio is ok, but the video frame rate is maybe 1 frame per 30 seconds, and sometimes just stops all together.
I assume this is a limitation of the code. Has anyone worked out a solution? Does remix perform like this on higher end hardware? I have some i5's kicking about, I just wanted to use this on a machine with a smaller power and size footprint.

Maybe you should the dev team to get improved support for your device then
I've got a CN60 Celeron CPU and from what I've read the only sure way to get 1080P on these devices is with a core i3 or i5 option not the Celeron. As history proves, the Celeron is a pathetic CPU except for web surfing and document creation with occasional SD video watching.

As I stated above, the Celeron proves more than capable of playing 1080p files (streams or local) on a number of other OS'. (Currently running Gallium w/ Kodi 17 beta, its fairly snappy.) I suppose its a limitation of the Android-x86 instruction set being more geared towards newer CPU's. It should be noted that Remix OS for PC is advertised as being built to 'bring old hardware back to life', so I figured I'd pose the question to see if there was a solution other than 'get a new computer.'

Then check which drivers are being loaded by the OSes and see if there's anything standing out.
