[Q] Stuck in TWRP - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

I just tried to upgrade from Alliance build 26 to build 30. I also loaded TWRP and used that to load update to build 30 since trying to load build 30 with CWM kept resulting in an abort with error 7. Now I am stuck at either simply booting into TWRP or to Droid logo to use Odin. I have have no useable file to recover to since all my backup files are CWM and I find out now they are useless in TWRP. Can I bypass TWRP and get back into CWM or am I screwed and need to start all over with Adam's thread to use Odin and stock files? Will I lose my saved CWM files entirely now on the phone itself? I need help please!

Here's a few options off the top of my head to get you up and running again.....
1. You can use Odin to flash CWM recovery back to your phone, then (if you saved the CWM backup to your external sd card prior to flashing TWRP)... you could just restore that backup from the external sd card. If you saved your CWM backups to internal memory, they are probably deleted because I'm assuming you wiped when trying to install Alliance 30.
2. You can mount TWRP in USB mode, then transfer a recovery flashable CWM zip over to your external sd from the computer, and then flash CWM back to your phone and restore your CWM backup.
3. If you have an external sd card adapter for the computer... then you can remove the external sd card from the phone and mount it in the computer to transfer over a CWM recovery flashable zip and your backup files (assuming that you saved a backup in the computer). Put the sd card back into the phone.... then use TWRP to reinstall CWM.... then use CWM you restore one of your backups.
4. If you keep encountering booting problems and none of those ideas work... it would probably be best to just use ODIN to restore back to stock 4.1.2... then start from scratch by re-rooting the with Casual.
Good luck.

Thank you for responding with such detail. It finally started to boot into Alliance logo but never completed. Now it says with yellow triangle phone needs to be returned to Verizon. It does not even work in Odin. I do have an external reader for the card but I guess I am screwed now anyway.I wonder if Verizon will even help me at all back to stock.

STOCK JFD, rooted, and add a few apps?

its obvious once you start flashing you'll probably never go back to a stock ROM with no root.
So i have a few questions.
Can i somehow get stock JFD files that will already be rooted when i return to it from ODIN?
Can i add a few files like titanium backup and ROM Manager because its a total pain to go to stock then go to market, login to gmail, then turn wifi on because i have no data plan...
how can i do that?
Since I have started flashing I have never had to reroot after a Odin. I have always just left the update.zip in my sd card. Odin has never wiped my internal SD card. Since the update.zip and clockwork recovery are still in my sd card I just use the volume up volume down power method to get into recovery(2e) then hit reinstall packages (twice) and it takes me into clockwork recovery. Then
1. Install zip from zip card
2. Choose zip from sd card
3. Yes install(rom of ur choice)

Nandroid Backup?

I can't do a search it says search is disabled. I'm currently on rooted stock and want to make a nandroid back up of my phone. I got the recovery app installed and currently booted to the recovery screen. I see the backup & restore tab, but then it goes to internal SD card and External SD card. Which one do I want to back up. I'm guessing internal SD card, and where does it save it too. Can I take the saved file and put it on my computer for safe keeping? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Again I did try to search, but it's broken.
If your using CWM recovery it will be under the folder Clockworkmod, then under the subfolder Backup or Backups. And it doesnt matter if you save on internal or external, of course you have to have enough space on which ever you select though. You can copy this folder to comp to keep it, if you decide to edit file name dont put any spaces in it use . or _ or you may run into issues.
Also, when it asks internal or external it's asking where you want to backup to. I usually choose external so I can format internal if needed.

Thanks guys for clearing it up. I appreciate it. I just flashed a rom, and didn't like it then flashed back to stock and restore via nandroid and it worked flawless. Thanks again for the help.
Nandroid Backup error message
I have a stock photon that I rooted. I have both CWM and Rom toolbox pro installed. When I go to to a Nandroid backup it trys to boot into recovery and says "FAILED to boot 2 Starting RSD mode". If I reset the battery it boots fine. Android Recovery does the same.... Suggestions?

My i717 is stuck at the splash screen but I can get to CWM.

So here's the deal, I screwed up big time.
Bottom line, the SDcard is formatted and I can no longer get in the phone (stuck at the splash screen for King Kangers build).
I have a backup of the SDcard and a nandroid backup of the phone, but when I enter CWM, I cannot get the recovery to recognize the external SD card and I can no longer access the internal SD card.
Also, Samsung Kies no longer can access the phone either so I can't re-flash back to stock.
Help please??
Thanks!
Id10t < that'd be me.
Ok, I may have gotten lucky.
I reflashed the ODIN CWM recovery tar and then re-created the folder on the SD card for clockworkmod/backup/ and placed my backup files in there.
Now, I'm back in the CWM and recovery found the external SD card.
I'm in the process of restoring from backup, crossing fingers this all works.

Can't Restore Backup, Urgent Help Please!!

Okay before posting i have spent the majority of the day on this forum, the net and just generally searching for a solution. I installed the latest Omega V18 rom today with the latest Siyah-Dorimanx kernal. No issues, installed and worked fine recovered all my data. I was having a problem with Omega files kitchen, so i decided to wipe everything and try and start from fresh. I did a backup with CMW and Titanium, then i put the CMW backup ontop my laptop and wiped the phone and reinstalled everything, i was still getting the same problem and i went into Titanium and deleted all my backups, why i never know! But i still have the one on the laptop. Went for a final reinstall and obviously Titanium has no backup but my CWM backup is showing but i cant restore it in recovery mode or when the phone is on normally.
The phone works fine running Omega V18 Rom and Siyah-Dorimanx V7.43. No problem with booting or going into recovery mode, when i connect the phone to the usb on the laptop it comes up with removable disc E. My back up is on there and i can see it and open the folder and view the contents. However when i try to restore the backup either through CWM (V3.15) or booting into recovary mode the phone cannot find the back up.
I have tried all the restore options in recovery mode and i get E: Can't mount sdcard. So i'm stuck i have tried wiping all my data and doing factory reset etc and starting from the start, but still no joy. I have also tried to follow another guide on here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238070 When i try to load the ED05 Froyo into Odin it fails.
Im desperate for a solution i just need my pictures back Anyhelp will be greatly appriciated, is there any thing i can do?
EDIT: I have just flashed it with Odin and a stock rom, now where do i go from here? Do i have to re-root the phone and install a custom rom again.
CWM and TB don't save your pictures! They are still there, on internal or on external SD Card, if you haven't deleted them by formating. Where did you save them?
I thought CWM did a full backup? Well atm the phone is running 4.0.4 ICS and when i go into stock recovery i still get the same cant mount sdcard!! Well i did format the whole phone and did factory reset so looks like i have lost them for good then? Now its back to standard why still cant it mount the sdcard?? I have placed the right Philz-cwm6 kernel onto the internal sdcard and go into stock boot and try to apply update and comes up E: unable to mount sdcard.

Do you have an extra sd card ? I am not joking I have realized last week that I didn't bother to buy one nearly 2 years ago :good:
If you have saved your pictures on external sd card you can always take it out, put it into your sd slot in your notebook or pc and copy the files to your hard drive.

I have a small external card, but i didn't save the pictures to it or anything. I just assumed when i did my previous backups that it saved my files. Anyways i learnt that lesson the hard way it seems.
I connected the phone via usb and it came up E: Removable disc so i formatted it in windows, the put Philz kernel onto it and when into stock recovery and then tried to update via externel sd card and it fails to mount as usual. So why is E drive coming up in windows but not in the phone? Im really starting to loose my mind over this now, how do i fix this on a stock rom!
EDIT: I have flashed the Philz kernel via Odin, now i can get into CWMR Touch 6.0.1.4 I can go into the mounts and storage menu and mount /emmc but i still can't mount the /sdcard. I can now however apply an ZIP update from internal sdcard so now im getting too confused and lost i have been working for at least 10 hours on this in total so im going to bed and will try again tomorrow!!

stuck in philz recovery.

so I wanted to try cm12. I did a nandroid of my current rom with twrp. I used flashify to install philz recovery. Here's where I went wrong, I should have done a backup using philz recovery first, instead I wiped system and data and realized philz recovery would not read my sdcard. (I do not have security encryption enabled) my nandroid backups were to my external sd card not my internal. I tried getting adb to connect from within philz recovery but that's a no go. might have a usb driver issue Philz file manager is not working also. any ideas for now. I do not want to flash back to stock as i havefiles on the internal sdcard I don't want to delete. i wasn't expecting this.
Can't you just flash cm12 and backup your internal files. You don't need adb with removable memory. Also, twrp will flash cm12
Edit: I mean format new SD card with recovery, place cm12 on it, flash. Than backup all your stuff and start over

This guy has the right idea. Just save what you can from your SD to your computer, then format your SD using Philz so it can read it. Then pop your SD back in the computer and copy your files over and just flash CM12 that way or restore your old ROM using Philz "TWRP" restore method (it actually does backups to and restores from the TWRP folder on either internal or external SD).
