I'm using the Qi-infinity dock from Amazon. It works fine. I actually have a Spigen Ultra Hybrid case on there. Although I haven't tested it to the extent of charging it while running GPS, BT and all that simultaneously.

Is there plenty of room to plug an external charger into the bottom of the nexus 6 if you need some extra power?

That looks very similar to one I just bought. Does the cradle push down on the volume down button?

+1

I have used this Dock from Amazon for over a month and works great. The side arm will push down on the volume down button unfortunately. The arm can be modified to avoid this, or use a case with cut-outs for the buttons (I use Spigen slim fit cases).
The dock works great though

No, it doesn't. There is an opening on the bottom for you to plug in a USB. It doesn't push down on the buttons either.

I can't choose between Tylt and iOttie.
Any ideas?

Get the Tylt. The thing I've noticed about wireless chargers is the more expensive ones always work. I guess that's why I've got a Nokia and a Tylt for the car.

Yeah, but iOttie is only 4 cents cheaper
How aboit heating and charging time in Tylt? If screen phone is off, how long does it take to go from for example 10% to 60%?

It chargers very quickly. The desktop Nokia I use takes much longer in comparison but I've been using it for years now, had a DNA and a g2 after that, now a N6. The Tylt is just a quality piece and looks great too.

The reviews on Amazon say that the Tylt Vu car charger doesn't work very well with the Nexus 6. The claims seem to be about how well it actually grips and holds the phone (and not so much about charging or feeling cheap).

I've got iOttie already. When plug in motorola stock charger then it charges 50% in about 90 minutes. Grip is very good. No risk of drop. Battery during the charging is cold. Tomorrow I'll try a car charger.

I have the Ghostek Qi car charger coming today from amazon. I'll post pics when it gets here.

Apparently the Nexus 6 fits without a case pretty tightly. I'll know more once I try it myself. $29.99 is one of the better prices I have seen.

It grips and holds the phone fine naked and with a thin case. Using it with my Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro rugged case works but its jammed in there.

I can tell you which one not to buy, even know it has a ton of good reviews.

It's got a terrible sweet spot that has the phone off centered. The pad itself feels like it came right off the .99 cent ship from China. I'm returning it as we speak and getting something more quality. Just wanted to let you know in case the 25 dollar and almost 5 star review enticed anyone. Hopefully the next one will be better.
I read a few reviews about the phone over heating on the tylt....can anyone confirm or deny that? It looks quality and I'm also wondering if it has to be set exactly in place or if it has some wiggle room. Thanks in advance.

[VIDEO] New Note 3 QI Receiver - Wireless Charging

NFC Compatible UPDATE at Bottom
This QI receiver pad works much better than the first one I tested. It's ability to work with the LG WCP-700 is a huge perk. The pad looks wider, it fits better, works with more pads, works through most cases with no issues etc.
Out of the two I've used so far, this one is better in every way... So far...
By request... This is the auction I purchased it from.

EDIT (4/27/2014):
NFC Receiver UPDATE
Well I got really busy after I purchased a third receiver and didn't publish any information until now. Why did I purchase a third receiver? Well it was because of NFC. The second receiver is still the best with charging, but this one is a close second. I could not get NFC to work with the second receiver. This one will work through most cases.
eBay Link: I'm posting search results. Just match up the model with the one in the video. It's easier this way in case some of the auctions end.

OK, thanks for clarifying!
awesome video, I was looking at that receiver as well, have had good experience with that brand yipin or yieneng on m s4.
the biggest quest for me is does it bulge? the s4 there was a spot where the chips would fit in the notch for the microsd, but I dont see a notch on the note 3 so I wonder if they designed it to fit in some kind of recessed area?
Thanks in advance.
See the 3 pins where you connect the wireless receiver:
Top one is +5v.
Second one is Ground.
Thrid one is for S-View Cover (+) - (in case you wonder that the heck is that for)
In the event that you have a S-view Cover, you just have to use second as a common ground between the receiver and the S cover.

This receiver is pretty thin in everyway, as with all receiver, you will get the bulge, but you will not really notice it, would you rather have a receiver that has no bulge that does not work well or a receiver that has a slight bulge and does what you expect.
Can you still fit a case on with this installed? I have a hard case sedio with a kick stand and do not want to give it up.

getting the official one in a few days too and will review it when i get it. ordered a second official one from clove uk. my original order for the official one made in early october from mobilefun hit the wall from the scamsters at mobilefun. was repeatedly getting emails saying delivery delayed and whether i will accept alternate product (please note no mention of refund in any email), then a week or so ago saw on their website that it was in stock but still didnt get delivery and got another email saying further delays and saw on website that it was sold out!!!. so sent them email to send it or give refund after cancelling order. they replied with email saying order cancelled and that was nearly 2 weeks ago and yet to get refund. so have raised a claim at paypal and those scumbags havent yet responded to paypal claim and 8 days now since i have escalated this to a claim at paypal and mobilefun havent yet bothered to reply to my paypal claim. if dont get my refund will escalate it to fraud complaint with my credit card issuer against mobilefun. paid via credit card via paypal to mobilefun website in early october. just mentioning this here so that other people dont get scammed like i have been at mobilefun.

Thanks for your videos. I love wireless charging but on the note 3 it's been a bittersweet scenario...got the oem samsung charging back but there are no cases that fit that (at least that I've found) so I'm stuck choosing between a case and wireless at the moment. Your thread has given me some hope though about the possibility of using the original back with an insert that actually works and still be able to fit a case.
One question - does the phone with insert in & case on "rock" when it's on a flat surface? For example, when you have it flat on a desk/table/etc and you hit the home button on the note - does it "rock" toward you and then back after lifting your finger? This is so annoying to me and I wake the device with the home key a lot at work...it'd probably be a deal-breaker for me, but if you can share your insight I might avoid another bit of money wasted.
Thanks!

AirDock?

Kind of curious: has anyone tried the G3 with an AirDock:
http://www.theairdock.com/
Wondering if the curved back presents any problems with adhering to the micro-suction surface of the dock.
I have one and the charging works great. Only issue is that if the pad or surface isn't clean the phone doesn't like to stay put. The surface is some kind of nano technology. In my opinion it needs to be improved and the magnets need to be improved. The curved back does limit the overall contact surface area but I am getting a new SUPCASE and I am hoping that the material will stick better.
I have the AirDock, and it does not work with my cheap, Chinese Qi charging sticker. The very same sticker works on my Tylt Vu, however. I'm curious what Qi receiver you guys are using.
Thanks!
I found a couple of posts here on XDA that indicated the magnets in the Air Dock interfere with the Qi stickers. Air Dock (the company) doesn't recommend the mount for use with the G3.

Though on their website it clearly says supported (with additional hardware.) I assume this to mean with the QuickCircle charging case, which is horrendous and annoying. You are spot-on regarding the magnets. I asked if those can be removed, and support responded that they are necessary to keep the phone from sliding off. I am not convinced that is the case on the G3, because the phone slides off VERY easily without some sort of flat-back.
Sounds like G3 owners should just wait it out...
Me:
Howdy Howdy!
I noticed that the LG G3 is officially 'supported' (with additional hardware,) on your site, and I was curious if any developments have been made? I am still using the cheap Chinese sticker with my Tylt Vu, but of course that doesn't work on my original AirDock. Is there a recommended charging sticker, or do you guys still recommend the Circle case?
In all honesty, it's hard to recommend the naked G3 on the AirDock, because it can barely hold it. I have to clean my foam almost daily for it to stick, because the phone's back is curved. My friends with flat-back phones never seem to ever clean the foam and it works great.
Thank you!
-Steven
AirDock Support:
Hi Steven,
There are a couple things that are going to be better about Version 2.0 and the G3.
The transmitter in V2.0 will work well with that aftermarket receiver sticker. That's the biggest difference. It's an upgraded transmitter from V1.0
We will also be supplying a special version of V2.0 that will be curved to match the back of your G3 so that you can have the same grip strength as your flat backed phone owning friends!
Thanks
Me:
Whoa, that's awesome! I wish there was a trade-in option because I've been pretty bummed about this one, despite getting a few friends to pick one up for their more well-suited phones.
Thank you for the update!
Sounds great, but I already came up with my own solution. I grafted the Qi charger and phone clamp from this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M685JTG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (made by the same company as the Tylt Vu)
With the sticks-anywhere micro suction base of this:
http://www.amazon.com/iOttie-Windsh...UTF8&qid=1417825105&sr=8-1&keywords=iottie+xl
My only real complaint is that the Qi emits a shrill beeeeep every time it gets power (i.e., when I turn the car on).
But if the Air Dock 2 described above had been available, I probably would have bought that one. Good news for future buyers.

I'm considering getting the LG g3 slim guard case because I don't like having the sticker on my phone. I read someone on here write that the LG g3 slim guard case sticks to the airdock.

Strange, then you are the first with an AirDock to get it working with the Qi sticker. I have followed the threads very closely, and even AirDock says it won't work. Do you have a link to the sticker/cover you bought?

I do... But I don't think I can post it. But if you go to Amazon the seller is 38 Ave. It's an oem battery cover with qi and nfc. I also just ordered the LG g3 slim guard case. I've read it works and sticks to the airdock.
I finally received the original LG g3 slim guard case. It is for the US version. It works great with the airdock. Sticks to it and charges it with no issues.

Regardless of the input to the Qi charger, current Qi coils output at most 1 amp. But to answer your question, no, mine slowly discharges under the conditions you describe. If you're doing that for a long period, unplug the cable from the dock and plug it into your phone.

Dang. That's the entire time I've driving -- always. I should have done more research on Qi before ordering the sticker or any of these chargers. My Tylt has an almost impossible time keeping my phone charged when streaming and keeping the screen on at work. Nothing else going. Just heats up like crazy.

I don't seem to have any issues when I'm not streaming or using GPS. Just keeping the screen on seems to be fine. Make sure you're using a good USB cable. I found a couple of cheap ones I had wouldn't keep the phone charging consistently - it would keep cycling in and out of charge / discharge modes.
This won't help now, but there's a new Qi standard in development that is supposed to provide higher rates of charge. I do wonder how they'll deal with the extra heat, though.

Wireless Chrager

Does anyone know if the old Google Wireless charger seen here http://www.amazon.com/Google-Wirele...4183&sr=8-3&keywords=nexus+6+wireless+charger will work with the Nexus 6?
Yes, it does. It doesn't "stick" as good as the N4 and N5 (I believe primarily because of the curved back), but it is usable.
You're much better off with a larger charging bed though, like the original Samsung charger. Or, better yet (especially if you're wanting a "stand-up" type of charger), the Nokia DT-910 works perfectly. Regardless, just remember that the sweet spot (which is the area you center on your charger) is unusually low on the N6. You want the center of your charger to be centered horizontally on the N6, but vertically, be just below the bottom of the volume rocker.
I have the Orb and it works fine. The other person was correct when he said it doesn't stick in place as well. You have to be slightly careful how you place it or it might slide down so that the phone is resting on the table but once it is on it stays in place.
I have read the Tylt charger works well.(http://www.amazon.com/TYLT-Wireless-Charger-all-Phones/dp/B00DG8NUC8) I am considering getting one even though they are really expensive so I can simply plop my phone down without having to think about it at all and know it will work fine and not fall off.
I do have the flat nokia dt-900 and it works well and isn't fussy about placement. With the amoled screen I want it tilted to use as a clock at night.
The Nokia DT-910 looks OK. Its about $35

I can vouch for that charger. Worked great on my N5, works perfect on my N6. It's such a great charger that when I bought my N6, and gave my wife my N5, I had to order another DT-910, because no way in hell she was getting mine.

Yes, it works perfectly with the N6. The LED on the bottom is white. It's very noticeable, but isn't "light up the room" bright like a lot of chargers.

I'm curious about how big does the N6 look while docked. I currently like mine laying down on a pad, but kind of curious of how tall it is when on a dock like that.

Motorola dock + qi charger

So a while back I ordered two moto stands because they were on sale. I hardly use one of them so I decided to modify one.
This is what I came up with because I had been wanting a qi wireless stand. It was a lot easier than I thought.
Took apart one of the stands. Under the pad are just four lil screws, then just clipped off a couple of tabs so that it can lay flat on the back of the qi charger.
I didnt want to use super glue to stick them together, then I remembered I had some adhesive for cell phone screens and that stuff is strong, for being super thin (i think 1/16)
Here are some pics. Works awesome and looks good.
Looks nice. I like it. Props on the creativity.
oh btw i took the pics with my N6 lol
I might try this with mine, I mainly use it for holding my phone when I do work but this is a good idea.
This inspired me. I just bought all of the stuff to do this.

With this setup, it only charges while it's standing up. I wanted it to charge both ways standing and laying on the side. But now I like that I can lay it on its side after its done charging, without it continuing to charge.

Yeah I might see if I can't change the position of the charging pad a bit so I can charge it on its side. I'd like to use it as an alarm clock type dock.

It's possible, the charger would just need to be lower. Or if you had one of those rectangular ones that have like 3 coils. I think theres one on amazon that I saw thats the same thickness as this round one.

Could put the charge port at the bottom and run the cord through the back of the stand?

I dont think it would make a difference with that charger, I tried it that way and it wouldn't charge the phone sideways.
Just got a nexus 6 and i see that this stand is on sale.
Does the charging pad work with the N6 in that position?
I like the subtle plug for FKupdater.
How well does it work with a case? My nexus 4 qi charger works while the other I got for my Sammie doesn't. The nexus charger is just very difficult to find the sweet spot and get it to stay there. I'm currently is using the supcase unicorn beetle heavy duty case, awesome case by the way. Thanks

Car holster/Qi charger?

When I got my LG G3 and bought the Qi charging backplate for it, I immediately bought this charging mount for my car. With the LG, it worked perfectly. Unfortunately, the coils in the charger are too low for the Turbo 2 to get a charge (even though the charger itself lights up as if the phone is charging, I'm still experiencing battery drain, and the phone doesn't believe it's charging). If I put the phone in upside down, the phone charges, but then the arms of the holster are pressed against the side buttons.
Anyone have a better car Qi charging solution for the Turbo?

How far out does the arm extend? The Choetech came straight up from the suction cup base, and I have to reach forward a bit to reach the phone - enough so that it feels dangerous while driving on the highway.
I did manage to get the Choetech to start charging the phone by positioning the phone a little higher than normal in the holster, then moving it down, but if the iOttie charges easily from the default position I might consider that if I get some Amazon gift cards this year.

It extends for about 1.5 inches, far enough to be where I want it to be at. The lower supporting fork is adjustable. It can move up and down. So I was able to align wireless charging logo of the phone with the coils of the holder. Now I don't have to worry about the position of the phone when it is in the holder. I have two of them, for my wife and myself. And we are both satisfied. There are some videos on that Amazon page about this product. You can check them out.

Thanks for describing this -- I had been concerned about getting something like this precisely because I was worried about positioning so that 1) the coils would line up with the phone's charging "sweet spot" and 2) the side buttons wouldn't be blocked. Have the bottom support adjustable addresses that beautifully.

Likewise. Also, the arm extending out slightly puts the phone closer to me, and on my car that would make it as close as the vent clip on the Choetech was.

Not gonna work with this phone unless you either stick the Airdock sticker on it or have a case it'll stick to...

you're correct... I use a slim silicone case and the air dock works great.

How are you keeping yours sticky? I've washed mine as recommended, my G2 kept falling off it with with the magnetic sticker on my case, don't feel safe with the DT2 because it's heavier.

This is my first phone with wireless charging.
Could someone let me know why QI charging in a car would be preferable to cradle with a built in charger.
I have been using Pro Clip car docks for the last 5 years (3 phones and 2 SUVs) and am happy with them.
I disassembled the USB charger portion of my dock for my old Note3 while I wait for my backordered DT2 cradle to come.
If Qi is better I can cancel my order and get something different.
I see no drain while running Waze and listening to Audio Books though bluetooth. Additionally I mount an NFC tag on there to activate phone actions when I dock my phone.
The charger is hard wired to my car and the mounting system has been rock solid and allows for my Amateur Radio faceplate to be mounted within easy reach right below the phone dock.
On the other hand, the drop in dock doesn't work with a case but they do have other options for universal mounts.

After reading this thread weeks ago, I got this car mount. It is excellent. Works flawlessly and I love not having to connect a cord every time I get in the truck. The push on and one touch release is smooth too.
I was hoping to move from my old window mount spot to the center console but the gap wasn't wide enough for the extra dash mount pad. It is just barely wide enough for the regular suction mount but it doesn't form a complete seal and fell when I tried it. Still the window mount has worked for me for years and this mount comes out a little further than my old bionic mount so that's a big plus.
