[Q] Orange Xperia Z2 bootloader - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I recently messed up my Z1 , and want to buy a Z2.
A few things i was hoping you guys would help me with before i buy it.
Phone is sold by Orange , will i be able to unlock the bootloader?
Thank you.
Cant check it manually cause this is a deal based over the internet.

Check your service menu

Thank you for your reply,
Cant really check the service menu, buying this off the net. Was hoping someone who has one specifically for Orange would know before i purchase it.

Humm
Im suposedly other xperias are locked by orange
Perhaps your better off buying a new/Used Z2 which has a unlockable bootloader

Was afraid of that, i guess thats why it s much cheaper.
thank you for all your help.

Why don't you call Orange and ask?

I also think you should call them or go to a shop to ask then (or try). I heard some bad things from orange in France but then it's different in every country. I think for example orange Switzerland doesn't block their phones and unlocking bootloader is allowed.

Hi ,
Well actually gave them a call, and they confirm that their phones are all unlocked. Somehow dont think he really understood what i meant by a unlock able boot-loader.
I hope Orange South Africa is like the Swiss with freedom of choice. :fingers-crossed:

what I know is if it's network/sim locked then bootloader can't be unlocked, and if it's network/sim unlocked then bootloader can be unlocked. I bought my Xperia S from T-mobile and it's sim locked and bootloader can't be unlocked, my Z2 was bought from a gsm shop and it's sim unlocked and it's bootloader can be unlocked

Awesome, thank you... really saved me from the horrible choice i was going to make with buying a Samsung from a friend. Love my Sony phones.
Is it an electronic transfer into their account , once you register with them ?

[Q] SIM Unlock code required

Hi,
I have Sony Xperia S from O2. I need to SIM Unlock Code because I'm using another Network. Can any one help me to solve this issue?
Thanks.
if youre with o2 pay monthly you can fill in the sim unlock form on their site
https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/help/help?qid=1&q1=2&route=unlocking&case=Handset Unlocking Form
I tried this before but this phone was a gift. I don't have SIM number to fill the form.
However, I'm using another network which not allowing me to make use of the phone.
It seems that your phone is a branded version that is attached to a carrier. You can try one of those websites that will SIM unlock your phone, but I'm not sure if the XPERIA S can be, yet...

do you have any suggestion? and what are those sites if you know cheep website?
cellunlock does the job for you
bro just head over to cellunlock site and place ur order they gave me the unlock code within 24 hours it works just fine to unlock the bootloader after that.

it is currently $39,99 on this web-site. I wonder if one can find anything cheaper - I have seen one on the eBay for £32,99 which I find too expansive too. do you guys think unlock codes will get any cheaper with time? thanks
:S :S
I tried them.
Returned the money because they can not do it.
I travel abroad for a long time and should I use another service provider.
I called my provider to do it for $ 500 for decoupling.
If I know I do not take this crap phone.
There is no solution to it?

I unlocked my Mrs's phone via cellunlocker webpage mentioned earlier. Had to wait a week, but can use any sim now. Though, the bootloader status hasn't changed (still says "no").
Then I bought an unlocked phone from eBay, thinking the bootloader will be unlockable, but it says "no" in the menu as well. :-(
I am wondering if you get it cheaper on the web - certainly those who made their way into unlocking world of SXS recently will make tonnes of money. Would appreciate if you could share if you have seen it cheaper than $40 please.

Dear Valued Customer,
We just wanted to keep you updated on the status of your order. Despite our efforts, the manufacturer has informed us the Sony Ericsson Manufacturer method is delayed until further notice. We will be suspending this service until there is a more definite time line of when the service will be back up and running.
No one at this point has access to these codes at the moment.
We are very sorry about this situation once again, as we are sure you are eagerly awaiting your phone to be unlocked.
Your order will be returned as "Not found" and a full refund will be issued to you.
When the service is back up, tested and running 100%, you will be contacted.
Thanks once again, and we are sincerely sorry for this situation.

[Q] Question before I buy...

Hello, I plan on buying this phone from Orange on Pay as you go, My question is will I be able to unlock the bootloader on a carrier locked phone?
All I really want is the ability to install cyanogenmod 9/10 with this amazing device.
Thanks.

Why would you buy a PAYG phone locked to a carrier... It cost about £10 less than an unlocked version.

Because I don't really need sim-free, And the orange one comes with £20 top up, £30 saved?

Yes I see your point but when it comes time to sell that phone and buy a new one your S3 will sell for more if its unlocked. I'm not knocking you its just personal preference. I know if I'm spending several hundred on a phone I'm not going to work about paying £30 extra for an unlocked version. I paid £430 for a 32GB unlocked version. Hit me up if you need a link.. :good:
As already said, no S3 (even the Verizon one) comes with a locked bootloader.
Carrier-lock makes no sense on payg phones but if it should be, there are plenty of tools to unlock

[Q] Is it possible to unlock the Sony Xperia P?

I've done some googling around and cant seem to find an answer that makes sense, I just would like to know if im able to unlock a Sony Xperia P on the O2 network so that i can use it with other phone networks?

I have done this, you need to ring o2 and ask for the the unlock code, they should give you it for free.
Then when you put a different network sim in your phone, it'll ask you for the code to unlock the phone.
Remember the thanks button.
Cheers,
Lunar.

Hi
They could NOT unlock my XPERIA P. Here I post the answer from mrunlock
"Unlock Code Unavailable
Your order will be refunded in full under our satisfaction guarantee.
This could be because the phone manufacturer has not yet added it to their database, it is an unsupported model, or you accidentally entered the IMEI for a different phone.
If you would still like to unlock your handset then please try your local independent phone shop / market trader as they may be able to do this with hardware.
It is also worth testing your phone with different SIM cards to double check it is still locked as sometimes you may find it works when you do not expect it to."
Also they have not refund me yet
i have since got my phone unlocked, it wasnt easy to find somewhere to do it, this is a hard device to unlock it seems, your best bet is getting in touch with the company your phones locked to, I got mine unlocked by o2 themselves free of charge, but thats because my ebay seller was very helpful and filled out a short form for me after i requested.

What kind of information does O2 need to unlock the phone?
I got in touch with my ebay seller (the original owner) and she filled out a form for me, im not too sure what details she had to put forward but i dont think its anything you could obtain unless you were the original owner, i was told however of another way around this but its not free. You have to get an o2 payg sim, top it up with like 20 pounds, make a few phone calls from the phone so it registers with your imei number, then with at least 15 pounds left submit an unlock form for payg sim to o2

[Q]Unlock bootloader.

Hello, i bought a wt19a some time ago, love the phone and all, but it has locked bootloader. When i dial the 7378423, it says bootloader unlock allowed: No, so i don't know, how to unlock it? The safest and easiest way, please. Thanks for all the help
I'm guessing your phone is network locked. U need to network unlock it first to change the unlock allowed status to yes. Sadly no known free method available.
Anyway wotanserver is good service to do the network unlock, and pretty cheap too.

If the phone gets network unlocked then can we unlock the bootloader?
I've always thought that when a phone says bootloader unlock allowed:no then there is no way that the phone's bootloader can be unlocked even though we get freed from carrier unlock. Like the phone will be bootloader locked for life.
Please clarify my doubt

If your phone was manufactured on and after 12W11 (I have seen several references wich indicates that supported until the model 12W14) can't do the unlock the bootloader by-test-point method. You have to ask to your network provider. If your model can unlock the bootloader you can use the wotanserver or FastGSM services which costs 9.99 €.
I've use wontanserver to unlock my bootloader and network provider. Whith these method you don´t lose DRM Keys
Ps: Sorry my terrible english

Unlocking for other companies

Hi, does unlocking my cellphone to make it work with all companies lock it in my country? My cellphone is from Chile, I talk with Claro there. I am in Canada and I want to unlock it to Bell or any other companies. If I had it unlocked for Bell, would it work back home?
Ps. if you know of any unlocking services would you please tell me. Thanks :good:

Yes once it is unlocked it will work with any GSM carrier in the world. I am assuming you are talking about a GSM phone here.
Besides unlocking services, usually your home carrier will give you the unlock code for free and the instructions of where to enter in that code in your phone to unlock it, if you tell them you need to unlock it because you are traveling abroad. Usually they want you to have owned the phone for a while (like 6 months for some carriers) before they give you the code though. No harm in trying to ask the customer care.
I asked my home carrier for a unlocking code, they said they would contact the cellphone manufacturer and get it in about 3 weeks, which is too long. Does anyone know of another faster option? Thanks... If I can do it by myself that would be excellent too
Hey thanks for the great information but you know what, I couldn't find my device there... it's a Moto G!
Do you know of other good sites to unlock? Thanks!

hey, Motorola actually called me and gave me 2 subsidy codes and none worked....!!!! i actually double checked the IMEI number and they said it was correct, so I guess i'll have to use one of them unlock websites.... does anyone knows if eBay is safe to do that?
many thanks =)
