[Q] screen repair/troubleshooting - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hey guys I bought a used note 2 VZW
long story short the screen was busted and I repaired it, the screen is unresponsive to touch (it will respond
but it's very iffy usually having to tap on the screen pretty hard to get it to recognize the finger.) it was spazzing out too
with nothing else touching the screen i turned on show pointer location and it was moving extremely rapidly up and down
the left side of the screen.
but when the S-Pen is removed and used it works fine.
the replacement part i used was for the VZW model number i605/L900 is it possible the replacement part had a bad digitizer?
all pins/connecters were seated with care. it worked fine for about 3 weeks, then Bam. no dice, any way if anyone is interested
in it pm me, i've got a note 3 on order from BestBuy.
I'm giving up on buying used and repairing them, i'd rather buy new at discounted prices. than pay near full price (including replacement
parts repair it and it still be screwed.)

[Q] Galaxy s2 screen repair fail - buttons dont work now

Good Day folks, here is the long and short of it.
Galaxy s 2 fell and the screen broke
I bought a new screen
Replaced the screen BUT two big problems occured.
1. The screen appears to have less colours than my original screen
2. NONE OF THE SOFT KEYS WORK, HOME, MENU AND BACK DO NOT WORK.
Number 2. is the big problem. Does anyone have any idea how these buttons work?
Even when I press the buttons directly with my fingers with the buttons off they still do not work.
Im baffled. Please help.
I also have attached pictures of the button area
It happened to me, I removed the screen, I replaced from beginning and it worked...
Hi Collado, do the white things behind the buttons have any electronic functionality or are those just things to make it stick?
To all future readers. I found out what the problem was. Basically,
The home, back and menu keys are all connected to a single ribbon. It appears there is a tiny piece, connected via the back key. That was torn while i was ripping off the the screen and digitizer.
See the picture attached
How much did you pay for your replacement screen and where did you get it. My digitizer is broken due to a drop. My front glass is perfect but the digitizer is completey shot. How difficult was this project?
Hi Johnboy
I cant remember the price of the digitizer offhand but make a check on ebay.. that is where i got it.
Difficulty is high as you need the minature tool set to do this effectively and a gentle touch.
However, it still appears as though the screen I bought has less colours.
Sorry to jump in and unintended hijack
I also dropped my S2 and cracked the screen, and after checking around dropped it in to the Geek Squad at CPW. Who duly replaced the screen and digitizer for £80. Only problem is the screen seems less bright and if moved off the central viewing angle the screen dims, as if it wasa standard lcd and not the orginal AMOLED screen. Does anyone know if they make lesser screens or was it fitted badly.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
DM.
I would go back with it and complain. If you dont get satisfaction then do an impression of the guy that goes into the pizza shop in "rise of the foot-soldier" film.

Top 1/3 of my screen's touch not working.

I had an atrix given to me today from a friend who got a new one.
The screen looks crystal clear and works fine. The phone has no visible signs of abuse. Everything looks good.
The top 1/3 of the screen just will not respond to touch. I tried a factory reset to see if it was an app conflict and it's still the same.
I downloaded a kid's drawing app to get an idea of what part of the screen was out and EVERYTHING is working except for about the top inch.
Any ideas? Is this hardware or some software flaw in the phone. The person still has insurance until the end of this month and I can pay the 100 to get a replacement.
Sounds like a problem with the digitizer so you might need to replace it. The digitizer is a very common issue with the Atrix and MANY people here have had their phone replaced two or three times simply because some parts of their screen stop responding to touches.
Thanks. Was hoping it was a software issue. But as I said, it was a free phone. Maybe I can sell it as parts on ebay. I don't really want it bad enough to pay the 100 replacement fee.
If I were you, I'd avoid the Atrix because there is no guarantee that it won't happen again even if you replace the digitizer or get a replacement. This phone could be Motorola's worst phone, quality-wise.
you can purchase one on ebay.

I am really afraid of this problem. I hope it doesn't die on me before my contract is finished. Atrix will be my last Motorola phone.

[Q] Question about replacing the screen..

I love my dear Rezound, as it has helped me so many times, and maybe might've even saved my life at one point. I am the only 1 out of 5 lines who is not tied down to a contract and does not have a Samsung Galaxy S III or Note 2, because I love this phone that much. But the problem is, after 6-7 months after I got it, it fell down on the concrete sidewalk and cracked the screen. It was only two really small hairline cracks, so I didn't think anything of it, only the occasional annoyance that I dropped it whenever I watched a YT video. I was fooling around with a bunch of my friends, and it fell out of my pocket, now the screen's broken to the point where if I touch it, I can sort of like...feel the screen being pushed down. The touch screen still works, and I'm planning to get it replaced at a local mall sometime this month. So I was wondering...if the store rips me off and uses just a cheap screen, will the display be bad? Will I not get that same, cool, color as I did when it wasn't broken?
TL;DR if a store that fixes phones uses a low quality screen, will the colors not be the same as it was before?

it depends on the service at the store. If they charged less than $50 to replace it. 9 times out of 10 it was just the glass.
if it was more. then they did replace the lcd. A lot of the times they will buy OEM but you do have the off chance of getting a China knock off.
tl:dr it is quite possibly they did replace with a bad lcd. Most places offer a warranty on it so i would go talk to them.
If just the digitizer is cracked and not the LCD, then they should just replace the digitizer and all the colors and richness will remain. The only Rusk is dead spots on the touch screen which if its a reputable store should have some kind of warranty I would think.

Sent in my s4 to be looked at by Samsung repair... now I need some advice please!

So, I sent in my s4 for repair to the repair center in Texas and it seems to have been reviewed. I was told before to send it to them from the Verizon store because I noticed a bubble probably the size of a sesame seed (or smaller) at the top left of the screen. The representative at verizon said that it was most likely a defect in the pixels and to send it in to be looked at. So I did that and sent it in about a week ago and they have put on the repair status Screen / Display / LCD / Touch Panel / LED / LCD Discoloration HPZ31 and they have attached a price of $200 to repair it! I most definitely won't pay this price, if this issue won't cause any long term damage in the future, because it is such a small dot that you can barely see and would not be worth the cost.
I was told that this issue should be covered by the warranty, however because it shouldn't have been caused by physical damage. I have not damaged my phone at all (only accidentally dropped the phone once when it fell out of my pocket on my driveway and the screen wasn't damaged at all or the phone itself.) My phone has always been protected by a case and screen protector btw. So, would there be any way to get this issue repaired without being charged? I haven't called Samsung yet, but plan on calling them tomorrow. Any advice or help will be greatly appreciated and thank you for your time and patience!
If it's that small an issue I don't think I would worry about it imho. Of course now that you know it's there it probably bugs you a bit, lol. Is it worth 200 bucks to stop it from bugging you. Does it interfere with the color display at all, like when the phone is being used is it more visible or is that the only time it is visible. ??

Replaced cracked Digitizer

I dropped my GT-P7510 and the screen shattered but didn't call out. I was able to use the tablet but was worried about cutting my fingers as I swipped. I bought replacement digitizer on Amazon for $15 and with the help of a YouTube video was able to remove the old screen and install the new one. It took me no more than 20 minutes, all I needed was a hair dryer and a few butter knives.
"This seemed too easy" was my thoughts as I was powering the tablet. Everything started up fine, was working perfectly UNTIL I noticed a few "dead spots" on the new touchscreen. One of which is right over the install button in the Play Store.
It's not the end of the world as this tablet is quite old and I really only use this to play Appeak Poker and the only new apps I install are the sponsored apps in Appeak that give me free chis just for running them.
Has anyone else experienced this problem after replacing their digitizer and if so, is there a fix?
Thanks

Try checking the connection between the digitizer ribbon cable and mainboard socket thingy. Push it as far as possible without damaging and press the clip to secure connector.
hi all,
first forgive me, english is not my first language
instead of creating a new thread, i used the search option and found that thread so ill post my problem here.
I own a p7500, and last week i dropped it on the floor and broke the glass. Since i use my tab for work i couldnt wait for ordering a replacement glass and do it myself so i brought the tab to a store close to my place named youbreakifix and they changed the glass for 100$. The lcd is 100% fonctionnal as well as all buttons.
now at first the lower right corner wasnt responsive at all as well as the bottom section of the tab. Also, sometime the whole screen wouldnt be responsive until i screen off then screen on again.
The guy told me he would open it and check all connections and if the problem isnt fix, he would order a new glass and replace it again.
Now the next day, they called me saying everything looked fine, i went to the shop and tried to swipe home screens from one to another with success.
Once at home, i started to play a little more with the tab and found that the digitilizer is still totally unresponsive in a intermittently way until i screen off and back on.
Also, when i press on some area (really small and alway at the same place) the tab look like it has a dead spot.
According to you, is it the glass that i should get replace again (on warranty 90days) or it might be another internal problem of the tab ?
