Dead tablet after try to flash CWM using Fastboot - Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

Welcome
I bought a new tablet Z3 compact (SGP611) with KitKat and after a few days I decided to put new rom of Lollipop via CyanogenMod 12 Nightly ROM. Because I'm outsider with the android matter, I have visited and read dozens of pages in search of an intelligible instructions and most were unclear. First I unlocked bootloader and the next thing was to install a custom recovery with ClockworkMod (CWM), and here I lost. At this moment I have a dead tablet (no reaction on the start button).
What I did I took from this page: .android.gs/install-cwm-recovery-on-sony-xperia-z3-compact
On your computer download the Advanced Stock Kernel
Save this file on desktop and apply the steps from below.
Enter your Sony Xperia Z3 Compact into fastboot mode: first turn off your phone; then press and hold Volume Up key while plugging in the USB cord for establishing a connection with the computer.
Good; now your device will be entered in fastboot and also connected with your PC.
From your computer, from Fastboot folder open a command prompt window: press and hold Shift keyboard key while right clicking on any blank space.
In the cmd window type “fastboot flash boot boot.img” – replace boot.img with the file name you need to install.
In the end, on the same cmd window enter “fastboot reboot”.
That’s it.

"
The difference is, I save this file to Fastboot folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot, and then I wrote in command prompt window
fastboot flash boot Z3c_DooMLoRD_AdvStkKernel_v01_FW-105.img
fastboot reboot
That’s all what I did? Question: what **** I did? Now I have 270 g electronic scrap.
Is there any chance to put this tablet to live? Who can do this?
Can anybody write, or show me a link to good instruction for doing this?

Sony Xperia Z3 Compact (phone) is different than Sony Xperia tablet Z3 Compact Wifi 16GB (SGP611)
Instructions for installing CM12 is basically here http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-...t/root-root-locked-bootloader-sgp621-t3013534 ( To install CyanogenMod 12 nightly )
Just change the rom scorpion (Z3 compact tablet lte) by scorpion_windy (Z3 compact tablet 16GB Wifi) : http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=scorpion_windy

maybe it's just stuck but still turned on. try using the reset button located under the sdcard slot cover (it's a yellow 'pin' labeled 'OFF' in case of the SGP621). push it for about 3 seconds then try turning it on again with the power button and see if its still alive.

I think u used the the recovery of a Sony Xperia Z3 Compact (phone)
Try to flash the stock kernel and rom, it is : 23.0.1.A.0.167
Than unlock bootloader again, (i did it with unlock code givin from sony)
than flash TWRP Recovery/Kernel
From there u know what to do, Flash Cyanogenmod 12, Scorpion_windy,

@Tekodrink: Seems more like he's not getting any life signs whatsoever - how would you flash anything on some device that does not respond?

Try to put in fastboot mode, with adb fastboot
if it still doesnt something i dont know it anymore

After sixth days, I wanted to send tablet to Sony service. I put it to the box, and wanted to wrap with paper, when I fill some vibration. I took it off, and tablet started to react for pressing start button. Electronic devices are unpredictable. I flashed system with Sony flash tool "Emma", and is working now, with old KitKat. I give up, and will wait for Lollipop from Sony.

wrong rooted xperia s

a few days ago I tried to root my xperia S to get more functionality. So i read on the internet on several blogs and started to download a rom. First i unlocked my phone with fastboot.exe. Then i try to boot via Command prompt. It says everinthing was okay in about 120 secs, but when i disconnect and tried to start my phone, i only got the sony logo and that was freezed. Even if i reboot, it cames again. I've tried some other ftf files to flash, but nothing worked. Now my battery is empty, and i don't get the phone back in fastboot mode.
Anyone have tips for me? Im very new in it so please help me...

For now, charge your battery first. U atleast need to have 80% charge before u can fastboot/flash your phone.
- (Only If Your Phone Doesnt Start) Press Power Button+Volume Up for some 10/15 seconds, u will get three vibrations which mean u just hard reset the phone. It normally takes about 2/3 minutes to boot up a phone after a new flash or kernel has been installed. If not then follow the the below instructions after the hard reset and see if it works.
- Assuming that you have already got the downloaded ftf (Firmware file) saved in the FIRMWARE folder of flashtool, if not then save it.
- Open up your flashtool.
- Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN key.
- Keep it pressed, connect the USB cable to your PC (assuming that u already have the usb connected to the phone)
- Release the Volume Down key when phone's GREEN LED lights
- Click the flash button (yes: the thunder icon up left)
- Select "Flahsmode" and click "OK"
- Select your desire firmware and click "OK", DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING ELSE
- Flashtool will prepare the files for flashing, just be patient
- Flashtool will start flashing automatically, let it finish to 100%
- At the end, Flashtool will prompt a line saying u need to check Unknown Sources And USB Debugging mode and thats when u know that u have successfully flashed a stock/custom ROM.
- Disconnect the phone, power up and give it some minute to boot up and work.
- Have fun :highfive:
HOW TO ROOT:
Depending on the Firmware/ROM the rooting method varies, i use Advanced Kernel Build14 on my new stock ICS firmware but always used DoomKernelv0.4+Recovery to Root Stock GB firmwares
You Can Download Any One Of them:
- AdvancedKernel14(Fastboot) For ICS
- DoomKernels(Fastboot+Recovery) Thread
How to Fastboot and just Root without Recovery and back to STOCK KERNEL:
First of all i will advice you to do this if ONLY you are planning to root your phone but want to come back on your stock kernel. Its a good thing to do if you have just flashed a new firmware like 6.0.A.2.45
Here's what you do:
[ requirements ]
# bootloader of the device is UNLOCKED
# Download and install FASTBOOT DRIVERS (DoomLord)
# Downlaod and Unzip FASTBOOT BINARIES
- Unplugged your USB from pc and Turn Off your phone
- Rename Advanced Kernel Build 14 to kernel.elf or unzip DoomlordKernelv0.4, unzip it and copy kernel.elf
- Open Fastboot Binaries folder
- Go To Fastboot folder, paste the kernel.elf file
- Press and hold VOLUME UP key.
- Keep it pressed and connect your phone and pc through USB.
- BLUE LED light will turn on means you are in fastboot mode, release the key.
- Fastboot folder opened, press SHIFT+RIGHT MOUSE button on the screen and choose Open Command Window here.
- Type
fastboot devices
Click to collapse
to check if your phone is connected properly and if it is, something like PSDN : xxxxx will be shown.
- Type
fastboot flash boot kernel.elf
Click to collapse
- Give it some seconds as it will load the kernel on the phone.
- Type
fastboot reboot
Click to collapse
and your phone will restart. Give it some minute and it will boot up plus you will have root access :highfive:
ONLY IF YOU WANT TO GO BACK ON STOCK KERNEL WITH ROOT ACCESS:
- Assuming you have 7zip installed in your system, if not then google, download and install the programme.
- Right click on the ftf (firmware) file.
- Choose 7zip > Open Archive
- Click kernel.sin > Extract and save it anywhere in your PC
- Connect your phone through USB (You Can do it even if your phone is ON)
- Click the THUNDER ICON.
- Choose FASTBOOT. Choose OK.
- Click Reboot into fastboot mode (via ADB) if it gives error on flashtool then click REBOOT INTO FASTBOOT MODE ( via FASTBOOT)
- The Phone will turn off and will automatically go into fastboot mode ( BLUE LED )
- Click SELECT KERNEL TO FLASH
- Choose kernel.sin
- Give the kernel some seconds to flash and the phone will restart.
- You will see the SONY logo again if you have done it correctly ( YES YOU WILL because you just successfully flashed the stock kernel)
- Wait for some minute and the phone will reboot with stock kernel still with root access to it.
ALTERNATIVE WAY TO FLASH THE kernel.sin :
- Copy and paste the kernel.sin file over at the fastboot folder in fastboot binaries. Delete the kernel.elf
- Type fastboot devices
- Type fastboot flash boot kernel.sin
- Type fastboot reboot
:highfive: :highfive:
Follow the above steps and you will definitely have a success
I dont think i can charge my battery. When i put it on a charger, the led is burning red. I've done that for a hole night. But if i disconnect, and try to power up, it doesnt react at all. When i connect it on my pc, the pc doesnt recognize it as a device, only the red led is burning. After a few time the sony logo appears. But stil no recognizing by pc, and still not 3 vibrates after trying a hard reset...
okay, after 3 weeks of waiting im back. I had brought de Xperia S to a telecom store to fix it, but they said that it was impossible for them. Now, i tried for my self again. There are some things to explain.
1 flashing a kernel(eg. kernel.sin) is possible.
2 then, i want to flash a the system partition
3 if i do that via the command prompt by this command it says it fails
4 if i do that by the flashtool by clicking on the thunder icon, then choose the flashmode, and choose the version to load, it's unpackage some files, but then it asks to put the phone into flashmode. If i do that by pushing the volume downbutton and then connect phone with PC, the green LED is burning, but the flashtool still asks to put into flashmode. So it does not start to flash at all, because the phone is not really in flashmode.
Anyone suggestions??
You say you unlocked your phone, do you mean unlocked the bootloader? If it's stuck at boot loop this is sometimes due to locked bootloader. Try to unlock again making sure it has correctly unlocked.
If your pc cannot detect your phone in flash mode, it may be that you don't have all the drivers installed. I don't understand 2.
All in all if your phone is in flashmode but it still says put phone into flash mode im going to presume the drivers aren't installed (or installed correctly).
Here is what I have done in a similar situation.
1, Hold the vol up and vol down buttons pressed at the same with your thumb the while holding the full button pressed, press down on the power button, you are now holding power button and volume +/- at the same time, maintain this pressure for a while, you will feel 1 vibration but keep pressing until you feel 3 vibrations then take your fingers off the power and the volume.
2, Press the vol down and insert your usb that is connected to the PC. you should get a green light, if not try # 1 again 2-3 times
3,Recharge it should only take an hour or two to get decent charge.
4, Start flashtool or PC companion. flash or update.
U should avoid unlocking ur device if u r a noob..and wait for devs to develop a method that roots the device widout hving to unlock bootloader like recentlyBin4ry has developed
Sent from my LT26i using xda premium
Finally, I found the solution by installing flashtool update 9.6.0. With that installed, my phone went into flashmode and it was flashed well. A new question: i installed a rooted version of the ICS firmware. But now it is now longer possible to install updates. Is that a known issue, and is there a solution?

[Q] C6833 Sony Z Ultra - Can not enter fastboot but flash mode?

Hi Dev's,
verified the bootloader can be unlocked via *#*#7378423#*#*
installed the fastboot, flashmode & sony xperia z ultra drivers from the flashtool 0.9.18.2 installer (flashtool.net)
on windows 8.1 with deactivated driver compatibility check.
Now i've tried all 3 methods to enter into fastboot mode from here
(theandroidsoul.com/sony-xperia-z-ultra-fastboot-mode)
via volume up + usb in, adb & quick boot reboot (even if the device is not rooted at the moment)
, but no success. The device always starts into flashmode, and this is the only state being recognized by the flashtool in windows. All hardware keys are working fine.
Any more ideas how to enter fastboot? I am really stucked at the moment.
Thank you!
what does it do on vol down and usb in?
You are doing this from a powered off state?
Hi,
I really tried every method and button combination. it is just the same as in this thread I found later.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2716418
Seems like the fastboot mode is being hardware locked or something.
I return the device tomorrow, and check a new one (if I get) with android 4.2 stock Rom.

Sony Xperia M4 Aqua E2303 bootloop, overheating, fastboot and flashmode works, help

Greetings dear xda members,
i've got a sony m4 aqua e2303 from my friend, i cant get out of bootloop, it shows sony logo, then black screen, then sony logo and whole thing repeats forever. It is also getting very hot during this process. i CAN put it into fastboot and flashmode, but when i tried to unlock bootloader by official sony method, it says "remote: command not allowed", but about a week ago when it was working, i checked and it was "bootloader unlock allowed: yes". i know that i must enable oem unlock in dev settings, but i just cant get there since i have a bootloop. flashtool flashing doesnt help, tried 3 different tfts. fastboot works but i cant execute any command.
xperia companion repair doesnt work, "update failed"
any help would be gratly appreciated, thanks in advance
How to get Android 7.1.1 working on E2303 - Update: April 2018
Hi,
i have spent days to finally get my own Sony Xperia M4 Aqua E2303 updated to Android 7.1.1 and it was a pain in the a**. (Android 7.1.1 is in early dev state for the Aqua M4, so e.g. there is no working camera and no working speaker/audio)
Now i write some tips in thread to help others because this thread is the first one the google search found when i looked for E2303 bootloop.
Most time i was stuck in the endless bootloop, too, after i tried to update the 7.1.1. android rom. (Today i have discovered this is because i tried updating from Sony's Android 5.0 stock rom (26.1.A.3.111) to Android 7.1.1, but i have to flash the Sony Android 6.0.1 stock rom first (26.3.A.0.131) prior updating to Android 7.1.1.
After i had the 6.0.1 stock rom installed, i never had the boot loop again. (Expert tip: Prior updating to 6.0.1 stock rom, the sony boot logo was white letters on a black screen, after flashing 6.0.1 stock rom, it's black sony letters on a white background.
Just to mention, the flash of the latest stock rom i have done with the software "Flashtool 0.9.24.4" in so called flashmode.
Expert tip: Always turn on "usb debugging" in developer options
The bootloader of the Xperia M4 Aqua E2303 is locked by default, but Sony have a special developer website where you can generate your personalized unlock code after entering your phone's IMEI number.
I tried unlocking the locked sony bootloader with "fastboot", but no luck (error message was something like command not allowed/unknown remote command). - I also tried unlocking the bootloader with Flashtool, but also no luck at first (some kind of oem error message)
But then i found a hint on some web forum, where was described that i have to create a new folder with my 10-character phone serial number and my personal bootloader unlock code (i get from sony's dev page) in a text file in the path C:\Users\<Your Username>\.flashTool\registeredDevices\<Serial number of your device>\ulcode.txt
So for example i created the folder "YT9114CNHN" under C:\Users\Thomas\.flashTool\registeredDevices\YT9114CNHN\ and there i generated a textfile which is called ulcode.txt and has only my personal unlock code from sony's developers page in it, lets say E8D20BE5BAC1E27C .
With that folder the bootloader unlock with flashtool was no problem at all, and i had an unlocked bootloader. (Just to mention: Do not copy my file paths, your needed file paths will differ)
I also managed to install TWRP in version 3.2.1-0 with "fastboot"-tool. Downloaded a twrp-recovery-image 3.2.1-0 for my Xperia M4 E2303 and flashed it with the command "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img".
After that i was able to boot directly to TWRP.
There are also some "keyboard shortcuts" you have to know when working with Sony M4 Aqua:
Fastboot-Mode:
Device has to be powered off. Then press and hold "Volume up" when attaching a usb cable to start fastboot mode. The LED should light up in a blue color. (Drivers for fastboot mode must be installed inside windows, there should be no question marks in device manager)
Flashmode: (whenever you think you have bricked your device you can flash stock rom with flashtool and it comes back to live again)
Device has to be powered off. Then press and hold "Volume down" when attaching a usb cable to start flashmode. The LED should light up in a green color. (Drivers for flashmode must be installed inside windows, , there should be no question marks in device manager)
Boot to recovery (After TWRP was installed)
Device has to be powered off and absolutely NO usb cable should be attached to the phone. Press and hold volume down while you press power button until display comes on. Do not press power any more, but still hold "volume down" until you see TWRP boot screen.
After that is is simple: Wipe -> Advanced Wipe -> Wipe everything (data, system, cache,) and install the latest 7.1.1 zip, in my case this was tulip-ota-eng.e2303-7.1.1-NOF26V-20170217.zip . After installing cleas dalvik & cache and reboot. - Now Android 7.1.1 should load, but it will take a while, long boot time...
Your integrated chip of your device has been damaged. It is called boot ic. Repair it and flash to latest stock rom. will solve your problem.

Xperia z3 tablet compact cant boot into recovery

Hi,
I'm quite new to the world of custom roms and I would appreciate some help to get my z3 tablet working again. I wanted to install this ROM as my Z3 was still running on Lollipop with no update in sight.
I managed to unlock the bootloader following the instructions from Sony's homepage and I was able to flash TWRP using the version provided in the thread linked above. Unfortunately now I can neither boot into recovery nor do anything else with the tablet except start the fastboot mode (solid blue light after holding power up and connecting the power cable).
Is there any whay to start TWRP? Did I use the wrong image? I'm on Windows 7 64-bit. Thank you for your help!
I used this solution to get out of the very same situation on my SGP611.
If your tablet is soft bricked, stuck at boot, restart display SONY and keep restarting you can do the bellow steps, but after that you will need to root and install TWRP again.
To turn off your tablet which is keep restarting, press and hold POWER and VOLUME UP until the tablet vibrates 3 times and turns off.
On your PC open Sony Xperia Companion, click Software repair, check My device cannot be detected or started, Next, chose Xperia phone or tablet, Next, check I know my Google credentials, wait until instruction are displayed how to connect to your PC.
Make sure your tablet is turned off, press and VOLUME DOWN while connecting the USB cable to PC, when the program starts the next step you can release the VOLUME DOWN.
Now wait and do not disconnect the tablet from PC.
Hi, I used Lightheadeds link and I managed to install the stock rom that way. I also tried luk71s solution but Xperia Companion did not work because my tablet has an unlocked bootloader.
Many thanks, I now have a working tablet again!!!

Since you already unlocked your bootloader it makes sense that you do not have an OEM unlock option. In developer settings you must enable USB debugging and reboot in bootloader mode to flash twrp. What happens if you send the command 'fastboot devices'?
Thanks for replying my Sos.I did not have the unlock oem optoon before unlocking the bootloader. When I write adb devices the computer sees it in normal mode but does see the tablet in fastboot mode.

I checked my tablet and it has no OEM unlock option either, so maybe it is simply not implemented. This means you should be able to unlock.
To see your tablet in fastboot mode you must install the correct drivers on your PC. For me the easiest way was to install Flashtool from www.flashtool.net. It has an option to install drivers and it is also useful if you want to go back to stock. You may also want to backup your TA partition if you consider returning back to a pristine state.

Z3 tablet Root 2018
So I finally managed to root my lovely and Tiny Tablet. Info those interested.
Step by Step. My machine Windows 10 Pro 1803 : Did not work with this computer and changed on a second one Same windows Pro 1803
that does not mean it will not work on yours)
Phone is Z3 Tablet Compact with Marshmallow.
A On Computer
1 Installed Flashtool 64
2 Installed ADB FlashTool 5contains drivers also)
3 Installed Phones Driver (it may be included with Flash tool)
4 Installed Sony Flashtool
5 Unlocked Bootloader with Flashtool or Go to Sony's Site to obtain Unlockboot loader Code. Sorry Too long to explain ( I used Flashtool)
6 Downloaded SGP621_23.0.1.A.0.167_CE.ftf or other Firmware that fits you xperia device with Sony Flashtool :: ATTENTION This downgraded my phone to Android 5 Lollipop.
ON Phone
If you are here, you already know that you have to unlock your Developper mode, Allow Debbuging mode, Allow mock locations, Go to de security option and allow Unkown sources.
1 Installed Kingroot 4.50 (Install it even if Google says it may be dangerous)
2 Ran Kingroot 4.50 IT IS NOT the latest but it worked for me on Android Lollipop. (I had tried the lastests versions of Kingroot, Kingoroot, and other it did not work on Marshmallow and it did not work for me)
It did not work the first time. SO i tried a second time as proposed and it then worked.
2 bis I rebooted verified with a root checker afterwards: Rooted Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees
3 Then downloaded Root checker, Titanium Backup, Rom Manager, Official TWRP,SuperSU,Busy Box
4 Once rooted, I removed purify that came with Kingroot and other bloatwares and Installed the above apps. You don't have to do it but that is what I did.
As from here, you choose what you want to do. You are FREE to debloat and install what you want.
I will like to thank all the developpers on this site and thoses who a have showed my ways to find a solution. It is not always clear. But atleast they have tried.
So I am transmitting my experience for others.
Second stage finding the best Nougat or Oreo setup for me in a week or two.
Have a nice day

having problems with my sony xperia ax1 ultra g3212

hi guys, i have had a fun xperience(see what i did there) lately, i decided that was fed up with my sony only being stuck on oreo, so i decided to flash the rom, my only problem is i never got that far and i'll tell you the steps i took, the phone still boots into flash mode and fastboot, but there's never been a gui for those, at least on mine...
step 1: unlocking the bootloader, used adb reboot bootloader and booted into fastboot, again no interface, then i typed in all the info on unlocking bootloader from sony website, got the bootloader open... only after trying flasher, from 0.9.16.0 to the newest.... nothing worked... but i did get it open
step 2 : when i turned on my phone it gave me device unblocked and not secured powering on in 5 seconds, that hasn't gone away.
step 3: i tried uploading twrp to the sony phone(i tried looking for one, but one doesn't exist for my phone, just not that important i guess.) but i managed to find one on xda forums, or atleat what i thought was a twrp, the file however was old and corrupted, so when i tried loading it, the phone took it and just got stuck on sony screen.
step 4: i went online, found emma for sony installed it ran it, but then it told me no services available for phone, all info still showed up.
step 5: downloaded sony flasher tool first version to latest went into flashtool installed all the drivers with the signature enforcement off didnt work.
step6: downloaded my software from xperifirm and got the files loaded, when i went to install the file via fastboot i got the device in flashmode but driver to old error, so i tried downloading the usb drives from sony official page made no diff...
step 7: tried newflasher it just died after like 10 tries i gave up i didn't know if it would work anyway.
step 8: tried re -adding the files from the xperifirm but nothing happened. it might be slightly worse.
step 9 : i then tried companion, but it told me bootloader unlock so it can't do anything.
step 10: tried the adb commands nothing
step 11: i am now trying to download a vm windows 7 install the drivers on that and plugg in the phone maybe by some miracle it decides to read the driver as current.... if it fails then i have no more hope, i have no money, and nothing else, so i beg someone anyone plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz help save my life.... i like a challenge but lord sony why do you hate me us much
so i finally found a way to run a custom rom..... i figured out a way to flash the sony xperia xa 1 ultra with a custom rom.
so i began my journey by trying to you know, update to andriod os 11 ,becuase why not, if a company can hold you at randsom by locking os software updates then i should be able to say, ' you know i bought the phone with my money, not stolen money so why can't i enjoy it'... boy was i an idiot...
so as i said step by step my phone bricked so i looked through some stuff... and then my eye caught a step by step website, the flasher version the guy was using was 0.9.24.4.... so i uninstalled the new version and installed the version i needed. just search for it you'll find it... i installed the drviers from the c:/flashtool/drivers/.....exe file just the flash tool driver and nothing else. i ran it, loaded my firmware .ftf file and plugged in my cable. it didn't give me a driver to old response.... i ran the flashtool and a few seconds later i got the message turn on your phone. success....
now a few things just in case.... the beep from the holding up and power button is not to boot recovery mode it's to force a restart incase the phone freezes also the three beeps shuts the phone down nothing else the g3212 doesn't come with a recovery mode.... sony you suck... stop making phones becuase you have no idea what your customers want or design your own os but plz all you do is screw things up even more, this is my opinion... the only way to get into fastboot mode is via a usb and volume up+power button.
to get into flash mode is volume down + insert usb don't press power... especially when blocked, becuase then it'll turn on and then you have to disconnect the battery... also the unlocked device thing after unlocking bootloader doesn't go away. i checked
when trying to unock the bootloader of the g3212...
step 1 : search in google how to unlock sony xperia ax1 ultra, you'll get a developers.sony web link click on it and scroll down to the bottom of the page where you'll find how to ulock bootloader.... click on it.
step 2: do exactly what the page tells you and use the first imei number....
step 3: type *#*#7378423#*#* into your keypad... it'll bring up a services menu, then go to service info>configuration>rooting status as shown on the site... it should say bootloader unlock : yes
step 4: don't download the whole usb drivers thing it didn't help me i doubt it'll help you.
step 5: download android sdk tools from https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools
step6: head to your phones settings>system>about phone tape the build number repeatedly 7 or 9 times. until it says you're now a developer. go back once and into developers options> turn on oem unlock and press yes or confirm or whatever also turn on usb debugging.
step7: connect the usb... you don't have to power off your phone at least i didn't. please don't blame if something goes wrong i'm just trying to help...
