[CFW][KK4.4] GomdoLight KitKat Custom Firmware Environment (System Enhancement Pack) - G3 Android Development

Hi all,
Today, I proudly present GomdoLight KitKat for KOREAN LG G / G2 / G3 / G3A / G3cat6 / Gflex / GK / Gpro / Gpro2 / LTE3 / Vu2 / Vu3 / Gpad7LTE, one of the most widely used (with 20,000+ users approximately) stock-based custom firmware in South Korea.
GomdoLight is more than 3 year old already (first version released on 19th December 2012), and is very mature.
Technically speaking GomdoLight is NOT a complete ROM, but rather a large-scale patch, which modifies official stock firmware to remove all the unnecessary components preloaded by operator/manufacturer, and reorganizes key system parts to 'basic' Android OS with manufacturer's flavor. For some devices GomdoLight's own specialized tool 'GomdoLight Sideloader' can make it possible to install GomdoLight directly over the stock firmware, even without rooting or flashing custom recovery!
GomdoLight is compatible with the following devices (BOLD indicates GomdoLight Sideloader support - no root required)
LG Optimus G: LG-F180S, LG-F180K, LG-F180L ("G")
LG G2: LG-F320S, LG-F320K, LG-F320L ("G2")
LG G3: LG-F400S, LG-F400K, LG-F400L ("G3")
LG G3A: LG-F410S ("G3A")
LG G3 Cat.6: LG-F460S, LG-F460K, LG-F460L ("G3")
LG G Flex: LG-F340S, LG-F340K, LG-F340L ("Gflex")
LG GK: LG-F220K ("GK")
LG G Pro: LG-F240S, LG-F240K, LG-F240L ("Gpro")
LG G Pro 2: LG-F350S, LG-F350K, LG-F350L ("Gpro2")
LG Gx: LG-F310L, LG-F310LR ("Gx")
LG Optimus LTE3: LG-F260S ("LTE3")
LG Optimus Vu2: LG-F200S, LG-F200K, LG-F200L ("Vu2")
LG Vu 3: LG-F300S, LG-F300K, LG-F300L ("Vu3")
LG G Pad 7.0 LTE: LG-V410 ("Gpad7LTE")
A very thorough and extensive (probably, the most extensive on entire xda) manual is provided at the download page, which contains literally everything you need to know to install GomdoLight. FAILURE TO READ THIS DOCUMENT BEFORE INSTALLING WILL ALWAYS LEAD TO VARIOUS UNEXPECTED PROBLEMS. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. Needless to say, I WILL NOT ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS ALREADY ADDRESSED IN THIS DOCUMENT.
Due to xda forum's limits (in functionality) I am posting a link to the separate (external) DOWNLOAD PAGE. There is no way I can link to each section in the document in xda posts, since xda does not support HTML tag. However some portions of the document are also introduced here.

Thank you very much! I'm waiting for the version "Wave 3, Revision 5" which supports LG LTE2 series (I'm using the L version). By the way, I don't really know why I could not access the link "GomdoLight Download / Manual Page" on your first post.

UPDATE - Wave 2, revision 9
UPDATE LEVEL: MAJOR / IMPORTANCE: CRITICAL
UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS:
Use the clear.root flag to unroot before upgrading if you're rooted (IMPORTANT)
You can always re-root using the enable.root flag (SEE http://gomdolight.flags.usage.gomdoli.us for details)
You do not need to revert to stock, but choose the 'FRESH INSTALLATION' option at the Installer's main menu even though you're actually upgrading. (You will go through the reconfiguration process)
CHANGELOG:
Greatly improved GomdoLight Engine scripts
Added support for a new flag: reboot.recovery - reboots into recovery environment (automatically into 2nd-init recovery if installed)
Added support for a new flag: auto.install.xposed.framework - automatically schedule installation of Xposed framework when the Xposed Installer app is installed but the Xposed Framework is not.
Improved stability and battery efficiency
Automatically restores GomdoLight Engine functionality when GomdoLight Engine can't be initialized
Removed IM+ from the Update Center
Added 'LG Tag+', and 'Privilege Terminal' to the Update Center
'Update Center' components updated
(G2, Gpro, Vu3, Gflex) Now the clock/date indicator shown when the status bar is expanded will NOT do anything if you click on it, instead of taking you to the Date/Time Settings screen.
(G2, Gpro2, G3, G3A, G3cat6, Gflex) Now you can choose between stock navbar thickness and reduced (by about 25%) navbar thickness
(Gpro2, G3, G3cat6, Gflex) Better DualWindow (SplitWindow) app support

[SUGGESTION] Add OTA changes thread

I think it would be very helpful for people trying to decide if an OTA update should be accepted if one of the developers or senior contributors started the thread:
[GUIDE] Summary of changes with each OTA update
In the top message of that thread summarize the the changes, capabilities added and removed, and whether it is rootable, and other useful information. For example:
SM-N900V-MI9
- Initial release.
- Android version 4.3
- Rootable with Root de la Vega.
SM-N900V-MJ7
- First update.
- Android version 4.3
- Lose ability to flash MI9.
- etc.
SM-N900V-MJE
- Second update
- Android version 4.3
- Lose the ability to flash previous versions.
- Modem moved to kernel so modems can no longer be flashed.

I just noticed this post.. nice ... I just was notified this morning of the second update. The wife did hers before I got up and lost root but system info still says 4.3.
Where did the 3rd update come from?
Please edit the op. This is going to confuse a lot of people. The mje update isn't 4.4 and there's not a third update. I know you were giving an example but that's not clear.
Sent from my SM-N900V using xda app-developers app
They were fictitious examples because I'm not that familiar with the device yet. I've deleted the fictitious third update.

Basic Device Information
Released in January 2014, the Huawei Ascend Mate 2 is a phablet with mid-range specifications and a nice low price. It is the successor to the Ascend Mate, which was not offered in America.
There are quite a few variants of the Huawei Ascend Mate 2, and it is very important to know which one you have. Do NOT use files for your device if the files are for a different device! Some variants have minute differences that make a large difference. Partitions are different, SOC's are different, radios are different, etc etc. You have been warned! This applies to other devices as well, obviously.
If you bought your HAM2 from GetHuawei.com or Amazon in America, you have the MT2-L03 version.
As of July 3rd, 2015, non-L03 models are updated to 4.4 KitKat (please notify if not) with a Lollipop update scheduled for sometime July 2015, and the unlocked L03 is updated to 5.1 Lollipop. Carrier-specific L03's (such as Consumer Cellular) are still on Jelly Bean, and allegedly Consumer Cellular are in the process of updating the HAM2.
If you have the Consumer Cellular HAM2 and don't want to wait, @Kostyan_nsk, @ArkAngel06, @xordos, and @tdamocles have successfully come up with a way to convert the Consumer Cellular L03 to an unlocked L03! Thread here. According to post #7, this works for Wind Mobile users as well! :good:
On August 18, 2015, @u-ra released a preview of CM12.1 for the L03, making it the first custom ROM for the L03. Be sure to thank him and mdmower! And read the instructions as well!
On August 25, 2015, thenameisnigel and CarbonROM released an unofficial beta PAC MAN ROM and official nightly CarbonROM respectively. Thank them too!
On December 3, 2015, @jsbeyond gave us another ROM choice with an unofficial crDROID ROM. Send him your thanks!

Would like to mention this here and now so others will see it as I have witness this to become an issue in the past on other devices.
Over time links may no longer work and guides/mods/etc may become outdated. If/Should this become the case, do not complain, instead, notify the OP respectfully with the problem and solution (should you have one) so he can make proper changes to the index.

Definitely like that lol.
Everyone be sure to press on the thanks button for @ScoobSTi. Maintaining an index can get overwhelming at times.
Thanks for the links. Excellent work. I hate to sound like I'm blowing my own trumpet as it were, but my guide to rooting the Asian phones properly is probably the most important one for Asian Mate 2 users and it's a total pain to have to do it. Cool guide and thanks again mate.

@Moody66 I just did a backup and got the 309 file, I don't have an SD card so I want to be pointed in the right direction, do you mind telling me where the guide is how to do it with USB cable

The update wipes the internal storage. That's why they say you need an SD card.
@medwatt I did a backup so now I'm not worried about the apps and data, but is there a way to do the update without an SD card, I don't have an SD card... Is there a tool which I can do this with via USB?

It's not a question of apps and data. Where do suppose the update files are going to be stored when the internal SD is being formatted.
I got an SD card... placed it in root extracted dload and hit the right buttons then get Software install failed!
I was reading it seems if its a wind or customer variant u cant do anything about it.. but it doesnt say wind or customer variant anywhere on back or inside with cover off just mtl03

I reverted from TWRP to the stock recovery
It still errors and when I try to "apply update from external storage"
I tried picking update.app and i tried picking update_vendor.app and it gave me update packages' ext name error. installation aborted
---------- Post added at 08:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:05 PM ----------
If I go through about phone > system update > local update it goes into to stock bootloader and gives me the error update.app is invalid package and when checking update_vendor.app oemsbl version list check error!

Possible 6.0 Reference

Hey guys. So as many of you know, 6.0 (M) is going to be released within the next month. I was doing a little research and found that Sprint is testing a new software version. The new build number is different than what the stock version has. Stock version is running 5.0.1/LRX21Y/LS990ZVA. The new build number is now LS990ZVB. This could be two different things. It's either Stagefright fixes (which we still need for the stock firmware) or Android 6.0/M/Marshmallow (whatever you call it, I will refer to it as M). M is supposed to bring many new features including: Doze (better battery saving), Dark UI (Might have been taken out), and the home screen on Nexus devices can be rotated. If you want to check the UAP (User Agent Profile), go here: http://device.sprintpcs.com/LG/LS990-SPRINT/latest it might change before the actual release happens. I will also have a thread on how to root ZVA. It is simple but with the LS990 it doesn't always work with the script that was actually made.
Hoping it's m, because I did read somewhere that lg was skipping 5.1 and going straight to 6

I read that too. I'm hoping so too.
If it follows all the other updates, it won't actually push until it turns to ZVC.
rofl LS990ZVB 100% will not be Marshmallow.
I wouldn't expect that possibility until early next year.
lollipop LS990ZVB source code is now out.
And it's the stagefright fix.
http://support.sprint.com/support/a...:FindAndUpdateTheSoftwareVersionOnYourLgG3#!/
If you have updated to ZVB go here for root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...k-root-zva-t3141390/post61496772#post61496772 use the manual commands to root.
Stagefright
Its just the stagefrigjt patch i think
ZVC now.

Every time we root this sucker we get a new update! This is so much fun and very exciting!
P.S. I'm guessing that it is a fix for stagefright 2.0. http://www.androidcentral.com/what-you-need-know-about-stagefright-20

Flyme 7 based on Android 8 Oreo is coming

Flyme 7 Coming to Older Phones Like Meizu PRO 5.. to see click here :fingers-crossed:
It's good news, currently only 4.7% of mobile phones have Oreo.
The trouble is until Flyme gets stable
And if there are new drivers maybe someone (@faust93) is able to port it to Resurrection Remix 6, which is still in beta on most phones
You just have to wait and all the pieces are put together
They just released the Meizu 15 with Android 7.1.2. and Flyme OS 7, does not even come with Oreo.
I'm very disappointed!
Meizu is one year behind in the design and software of its mobile phones. They pass the fashions without offering anything.
I expected them to catch up, but nothing. He's going to win a bad name forever.
They will end up putting the sign closed for vacations, which we already know what it means.
Above, they do not pay Google for having Google Play well. The International Version is a fake, they aren't Certified
And they also have blocked the bootloader so you can not install any ROM (there are none in the Meizu Pro 6, Pro 7).
My next mobile will not be a Meizu is clear. In 2015, they competed with Xiaomi, I thought that they would get over them but they have chosen very bad strategies, such as making several versions (China, the International), moving away from Google, problems with apps, very similar designs for all their phones, prices that are too high compared to the competition , many software failures in Flyme, without Android updates ...
Luckily I have it with RR and Android 7.1.2 (in 3G and without finger print but this does not matter at all). And I'm happy with him !!
You do not need another Android if you have it well customized (Substratum, Exposed, Magisk Manager ..).
But it would be cool to have RR with Oreo..
Flyme 7 is out since 22.04.18 and IS NOT BASED on Oreo
It's again based on Nougat 7.0
I've tried 7.8.4.22 A, not soo bad, some little bugs with camera and other things but overall 's good
in 2022 i bet they are going to have oreo
or meizu will die
Meizu has disappointed me so much that I bought another mobile (not from Meizu). I have endured so much thanks to the Faust93 ROM but I could not do it anymore, it was a little on a whim, more than other things
Meizu was downgrading ever since 2015 and their strategy to focus on the Chinese market with dozens of new devices every year led to abandoning all their previous flagships and lack of focus on software updates. Obviously providing regular up-to-date upgrades does not bring in too much revenue compared to the new devices ranging from budget to flagships that bring in millions. This fact showed their real face - hunt for money rather than for creating an outstanding product and attracting even more customers. Pro 5 is my first Meizu phone and is definitely the last one. Even with running RR 7.1.2 and fully and smoothly functioning hardware, I do really lack fingerprint option and I don't like having any sacrifices on the device. which once used to be a flagship and still has pretty powerful insides to date. I like trying different roms and flashing firmware, but for the testing purposes, not because I am forced to in order to have more or less up-to-date Android version and properly working Google Services and Play Store. This is just ridiculous and disgusting.
Did someone tried flyme 7, this version 7.8.5.8?
hi everybody.
I'm surfing the internet.
https://www.getdroidtips.com/flyme-os-7-meizu-pro-5/
I came across this site.
I downloaded and installed the Meizu pro5 Flyme 7.0.2.0A from the https://www.flyme.cn/firmwarelist-23.html#3 link provided on the site. I got backup of my phone. I've installed wipe cache. And it works.
I wanted to share it with you.
Notes:
- I had a flyme 6.3 rom.
- I installed vipe cache from the first installation. sim network did not work. vipe cache cleaning and installed all functions worked.
-Flyme has added facial recognition and works very nicely.
- Press the power button. I installed the version uplink type. As described in the first link. (https://www.getdroidtips.com/flyme-os-7-meizu-pro-5/)
-I've been using it for two days. very nice. Flyme7 is the original system board and stable.
- Before loading, change the ro.product.locale = zh-CN line in the zip file (update.zip/system/build.prop) to -> ro.product.locale = en-US.
- Bad news - I use English. Problems can occur in other languages.
The pro5 really got android 8.0!?
Maybe I should (after switching to the global version a year ago) back to the chinese roms...
Are the google apps all working? Incl. contacts etc?
Thanks already for the update!
pro 5 now is with oreo??
i´m speechless lol
Unfortunately nope, Oreo was only a dream for us

U can use it as daily rom, it's almost near to perfection. But it's not new, it's 2018.08.10 so 3 months old.
:good:
Hi all,
Since it seems there are not updates coming for the global version of pro5 anymore I am considering to switch to the Chinese ROM.
Is it possible to install the latest Chinese version to a GLOBAL Pro5?
If it is a more complex process, do you have instructions a link that shows how to do it?
Thanks a lot!

i think you have to change the product label to chinese ( i tried without doing so and i failed miserably )
it's depend on what recovery you use to update, stock or TWRP. If with TWRP, you need to replace bootloader and recovery in zip to be unlocked bootloader and custom recovery.

Rolling back my LG V30 to Android 8 (Oreo)

I have an app that does not work after Android 8 that I need and there is no replacement in 9 or above. I managed to avoid updating my v30 to v9 and later for a year or so. It accidentally allowed the update to 9 this past weekend while I was camping. All I want to do is roll back to stock v8 or 8.1 (Oreo).
I have enough tech knowledge to follow directions and understand rooting but am having a really hard time finding the "right directions." As I was reading some of them, I found caveats like, "Use X unless you have the delta update and then use Y but not if you want to run Z. For Z, you have to follow this other thread." I also know that using the wrong settings or data file could brick the phone.
So, I'm hoping someone can help me narrow down what sets of directions I need to follow.
Here's what I have right now:
LG V30 (VS996) On Verizon Network
Developer Options Enabled
Android V9
Security Patch Level August 1, 2019
Kernel Version: 4.4.153
Build #: PKQ1.190414.001
Software version: VS99630c
Again, all I want to do is roll back to stock v8 or 8.1 (Oreo).
Bonus would also be a way to stop asking me every day to update or delay a day and just wait until I manually do it.
Thx in advance!!
Download the right firmware file for your device from here -
Models - LG-Firmwares.com
Free archive of LG firmwares. Comparison of features and reviews of all mobile devices. Quick download of updates for your device.
lg-firmwares.com
Then download the flash tool from here -
LG Flash Tool Free Download - Official Download Links
LGUP tool is the latest version of LG Flash Tool that allows users to flash stock firmware on LG smartphones and tablet devices. Download LG UP tool 2018 from the official download links.
lgflash.com
Follow the instructions on both the pages. I think you can take it from here.
Note that implied with this process is that you cannot downgrade your firmware without wiping the phone... there's no way to "patch" back to the old version. So, be sure to take backups FIRST.
If you're rooted on the old firmware, you can then disable/freeze/delete the update APKs so that the update warning goes away. But this requires root, so be aware of that. If you don't haven't rooted already, then this is a process of its own, and will require you to go back to Nougat in order to perform that, so you may want to do that before installing the final version of the ROM you want. You can find out how to do this rooting process on the WTF thread, post #193, located here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ar-instructions.3790500/page-10#post-76584629
If you don't want to root, that's fine, but then you must endure the update warning process... unless you can find another way to disable the update APKs.
Thank you both. I expected to wipe the phone so that's not an issue. I will first install Nougat, root and then update to Oreo.
There are about 14 Oreo ROMs on that site. Do I just pick the latest one or do I have to pick the earliest one and update that?
Pick the latest one.
