Pressy headphone jack button - Shield Tablet Accessories

My only gripe with the shield tablet is the power button. With no tap to wake I decided to buy one of the generic pressy buttons
The app I'm using Key Cut recognizes the jack but none of the key presses.
Have any of y'all tried one? I'm curious if the shield even has support for the 3.5 mm button

If the play/pause button on earbuds work, so will a pressy. It's the same thing pretty much. Maybe a different app or something?
Anyways, I'm super glad you brought this up, as I had never heard of it before. I looked up pressy and saw it was $30 and was about to call you crazy, but then I saw a generic one on ebay for $1, so I figured I'd buy it!

Ordered a couple on eBay too. Will review here in May, lol long shipping delay.
Look like some have 2 black bands and some have 3.

The buttons don't work on any of my headphones. I looked into it and it's simply a measurement of Ohm change coming from the headphones. Unfortunately support is kernel dependent so the only way to get this to work is a hero developer or nvidia implements it.
I can't believe in a tablet built for media nvidia neglects to support headset media control

maybe you give 'Xposed Addiotions' a try!?? there is a option "Allow external devices"

Already tried xposed additions pro. The kernel doesnt report the button press event so no app can detect it. Adding kernel support seems an easy feet for a kernel developer. They can probably copy the code from another devices kernel

Would be fine to find someone. Bought an aftermarket one plus just the pressy app, just before found your comments about it isn't working. So lame.

We need to post feature requests on the custom kernel threads. The more who request the sooner someone will rise to the occasion

To solve non stock headphone problems (distortion etc gone) ;-)

Iv been looking into the problem about non standard 3.5 mm headphones not working on our x10s and it seems to be to do with the arrangement of the rings an tip and sleeve on the headphone jack, the x10 is 4 pole (trrs) where as normal headphones are 3 pole (trs). This seems to create distortion and / or echos or just music that sounds absolutely awful if you are using a wired headset which is 'iPhone or black berry compatible (these use industry standard 3 pin trs headphone jacks) and certain companies like to make things more awkward and use 'non standard' 4 pin trrs headphone jacks.
http://db.tt/GqIAYQ7 might explain better.
The sound goes all wrong unless you press the microphone button and all the pins get connected properly. Below is a couple of adaptors which can fix this problem.
http://www.meelec.com/MEE_TRRS_Adapter_for_P_Version_Headphones_p/adptr-trrs-35.htm
http://www.tvcables.co.uk/cgi-bin/tvcables/4-pole-ipod-adapter.html seems to be the cheapest out there.
What I used to fix this problem for me was using an adaptor I was given on an airplane at some point and it sorted out the sound so i didnt have to use the mic button and could enjoy my music normally on my V Moda headphones.
I hope this helps out others who have had the same problems with an after market head phones with a mic, and should be the end to your woes
@ Mods this may be better suited to accessory section, sorry.

BUMP!!
If any of you guys have ever been on an airplane and they give you the head phone adaptor this will work instead of paying out cash. Finally I can use my V Moda's and the sound great without having to hold the mic button. I can't believe this worked, i only tried it on the off chance! Go search your house for these adapters if you ever got one now, do it!

Sadly I don't have that! I also not willingly to waste $10 on that thing. For now I only can use a paper clip and clip on the mic button, hope it doesn't spoil the headset easily.

headphone adapter with remote controls?

Does anyone know of an inline headphone adapter that has remote controls and I can plug my own earphones into? I'm talking about something like this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-Headphone-Adaptor-Control-Shuffle/dp/B002J1SCRQ
I heard iphone adapters like above kinda works for Mortplayer and Mixzing (one click pause, two click skip forward but not volume etc.) Anyone tried these or a better solution? I don't want to use the stock ones nor cut and solder a female jack. Thanks
I have one of those, I use it with my old 2nd gen iPod touch when I run... To be honest I've never tried it with my phone but I can test it tonight if you want, just lemme know what app you'd like me to test with. Personally I'm partial to Headset Button Controller since you can pair it up with any music app or even Tasker for other tasks... I still use HTC's stock player most of the time (unless I'm playing Pandora or stuff from my Amazon cloud), the lock screen controls are the most seamlessly integrated imo.
I can almost guarantee the volume buttons won't work for any function tho. I also have a Philips adapter that they used to sell at Target, it's like 3 ft long with the single button, microphone and 3.5mm jack both at the end of the cable... Used to be like $10, haven't seen it in a while tho.
Rather than spend $10+ on a cable tho, I'd recommend just gettin a solid set of IEMs from someone like Meelectronics with the mic/button integrated and positioned at a proper height in the cable. I bought my M9P for like $20 with a discount and according to many on Head-Fi they rival some of the $50 IEMs... They definitely sound better than my old Senheisser CX300 (paid like $60 for those but that was years ago when there were next to no budget IEMs).
You know, unless you have a very specific need for the adapter or you already have a high end pair of headphones.
My 2c
I preorder these http://www.klipsch.com/image-S4A-headphones
I wonder how the Android version of the S4 will handle volume control in conjunction with their app... Could make it worth the price, generally they're nice but not quite worth $100 from what I've read (again, Head Fi's a great place for headphone comparison etc).
I have a Acoustic Research Bluetooth adaptor that turns any headphones/speakers into wireless Bluetooth headphone/speakers. It has controls on it for skipping tracks and volume. It works perfect and I love it!!

i got the klipsch promedias which are basically the same, and the control definitely works but both the music and the phone app try to handle the events. so double-clicking it skips to the next song and at the same time redials the last number. it works well for pause/resume though.

Pretty sure that is your rom you're using.. they haven't properly switched the remote to only work when in a call state or some such. Remote shouldn't do anything but control the music app unless the phone is ringing or you're already using it.

i agree, i should have mentioned my phone is completely stock with the latest firmware update.
Wait, so we can buy headphones which have the iPod like remotes on the cord right? Haven't been sure and didn't want to take the plunge yet.

Would you be able to test it with stock Sense music player? I'm wondering if it would make pause and skip next tracks.
My M9P's button didn't work with the stock player on the EVO 4G, which is why I started using Headset Button Controller (which solves the issue and allows me to keep using the stock player), I've yet to try it on the 3D tho. I'll try it tonight with the headphones and both the adapters I mentioned. It might surprise me, I noticed the 3D cuts volume to 50% automatically when you plug in headphones, that's something the 4G definitely didn't do!
Alright, sorry about that, I fell asleep last night prior to testing this. I tested the short 2-3" Belkin iPod adapter that was linked before, as well as the longer Philips adapter with a mic that I mentioned, and my own Meelectronics headphones with in-line mic/button. They all worked exactly the same despite the fact that the first one doesn't have a microphone, the electric signal they all send thru the third marking on the 3.5mm jack is the same after all.
On a stock EVO 3D, one press of the button on any of them will start the music player (with the phone locked or oherwise), and a second press will obviously pause it. A double click or press will dial your last dialed number, and pressing and holding will invoke voice search just like long pressing the search button. Pressing the button while the phone rings answers the call as expected and pressing it again hangs up. There's no triple press functionality and the volume buttons on the Belkin thing did nothing at all.
With Headset Button Controller installed you can change any of that behavior, and assign functions to triple press, amongst a lot of other things... And it integrates just fine with the stock player, so if you want more control over your button functions, it's probably worth the $2.60-ish. If anyone wants it tested with any other app just lemme know, tho HBC probably covers the expanded needs of most even if your particular player doesn't.
HBC also has support for what it calls left and right buttons but these definitely don't correspond with the volume buttons on a standard iPod adapter, not sure what headsets have 3 buttons which HBC might recognize... That Kplisch set mentioned before might be one.
I have the Klipsch S5i & only the play & pause works, double tap radials the last call & the volume buttons are unsupported.

Dont discount the Bluetooth stereo headsets,
Did anyone ever answer the OP's actual question? I need an adapter for my own headphones with a pause/play button that will work on an LG Optimus. I do NOT want a Bluetooth option and I do NOT want recommendations for headphones. I have a set of headphones that I love, but they don't have a pause/play button. I'm also not willing to cut and splice/solder. I don't need volume or skip track buttons. I just need to be able to quickly pause the audiobook I'm listening to without unlocking my phone.
All I can find is adapters for iphones and ipods, but I need one for my android phone.

Need Earphones w/ Vol Control & Mic

i got an htc phone. can you recommend earphones that have a mic and volume control? i need these 2 features. thanks.
Every android phone I know of doesn't support volume buttons on headsets. However, this app will let you do everything you need with just the middle button (Which android DOES support).

But as far as recommendations, I recommend skull candy, their drivers are really impressive.

i saw some earphones on amazon that has mic and vol control for $20. i think i'll buy those and download the app you mentioned.
you also mentioned skull cnady. can you recommend low cost earphones from skull candy with mic and vol control? thanks.
These are similar to the ones I use - $30 on Amazon:

Though I got the slightly more expensive ones. These have the same drivers, just a flat cord which looks nicer and tangles less - $40 on Amazon:

bluetooth key finder

Using my s III and my creative labs Bluetooth speaker I can pretty much walk anywhere in the 3 bed house and it can still keep playing.
I'm a bigger for losing keys, couldn't there be a low power Bluetooth fob for keys that hooks back to an app you can open on your phone or PC that will emit a sound when you can't find them via Bluetooth or wifi..
Just a thought and if it exists hit me up with a link
Is this three kind of thing you're looking for?

Gold. I concur
The problem with the old generation Cobra Tag is that it's not a Bluetooth LE device, and so needs recharging frequently, and moreover won't work with an iPhone. Most people forgetful of their keys are also forgetful of recharging. Supposedly there was going to be a Cobra Tag Universal LE device launched in May, but it didn't.
Have you considered a "Chunky Extra Strong Long Chain Keyring With Belt Clip Metal" from Amazon UK (I'm still not allowed post links). Much cheaper. Works extremely well.

Joystick for car

Hi guys,
I'm looking for a simple bluetooth controller that has a few buttons on it so that I can switch through applications without touching the screen, e.g. from the back of a car.
I've seen some of the remotes such as this one here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bluetooth...998795?hash=item41adef0c0b:g:fPcAAOSwFnFV-xHg
but I'm skeptical of the quality for that price.
Would appreciate any links you can share with me.
Cheers,
Andy
ive got the same controller, i use it to change songs/volume, play pause music, answer calls while driving, its super useful out of the car too.
it has a mouse mode if you want to be able to control it from the back seat, it can be frustrating as im not sure if it has a button assigned to switching apps
battery lasts long enough to not be a problem - charges fast enough too.
again this item is super useful to have around as its a game controller too etc. for the price you cant go wrong. check aliexpress (like ebay/amazon but stupidly cheap because everything is sold direct from china) out as they might have it cheaper or a different version of it
cheers, I already have a bluetooth audio control for the car but wanted one for cycling between apps etc. I think it would be too fidly to use it as a mouse while driving?
I picked up the 8bitdobzero Bluetooth controller. It came with a keychain adapter and it works great
Bought mine off AliExpress for $9 took about 2 weeks to deliver. Amazon has it for $17
