No, while the processor chip may have support for GPS, the watch does not have the required sensors needed to get a GPS lock and to feed data to the processor.
If the sensor was actually in the device? Certainly there would be a way to enable it with a custom ROM, but that still dictates that the sensor would need to be built into it.

It means it natively has support for a GPS, it doesn't mean it has one embedded within the Snapdragon 400 SoC.
How about a portable gps reciever it's small and you can take with you. I have a nexus 6 and a LG G not GPS when I go for a run I have to take my phone to track my run could there be a way to bluetooth a GPS reciever to work with G watch. Like the way some people use there tablets and GPS same Idea?
What about Wi-Fi?
Many sites I follow are currently suggesting that the smartwatches powered by the Snapdragon 400 might have built in Wi-Fi antennas. The LG G Watch has a Snapdragon 400 APQ8026 but this SoC doesn't seem to have it. Can anyone confirm this?

When I looked at the teardown, the radio chipset is solely BT 4.0 :\ no wifi hardware in sight. However while the SoC supports it, without the hardware, that support is useless. Sorry to say
I read the watches have wifi but no antennas. Is it that they actually have the needed hardware but lack the circuitry for an antenna? Maybe a hardmod? Or no?

No. What you are reading is that they have the hardware to SUPPORT a wifi module (Some do actually only lack the antenna, however those will also lack drivers since the OEMs are not likely to make them). Not that there is one built into the SoC. As with the GPS above, even though your SoC supports something, doesn't mean it already has the hardware needed built into it.
@LittleLX: I actually attempted this and attempted to sideload a Bluetooth GPS receiver app to the watch, unfortunately because almost all of them use the Android ActionBar, it refused to start up. Android Wear is restricting applications to the swipe to dismiss action and forbidding the actionbar on versions of Android with Swipe to Dismiss on. That said, there is definitely room for this type of application to be developed for Android Wear, I had sideloaded CF.Lumen and ES File Manager, and while CF.Lumen doesn't open because of it's ActionBar, I had put together a tasker app factory app to attempt to play around and trigger (I had manually installed the CF.Lumen driver) it, it did show that it would work if I had been able to set up location services inside the app (choose the location for the automatic dimming..)
So Android Wear has potential to be a very powerful and extensible platform, developers just aren't interested in it yet it seems. We as a people seem to be stuck looking at a smartwatch as a watch rather than a wrist computer.

Just a quick question, has anyone tested USB OTG on the V10 yet? It is about the only feature I've not read about, I know the G4 supported it so just wanted to make sure this is the same for V10 before ordering. Also can anyone confirm the IR blaster is available?

Another question since I have you if you don't mind, does the Hi-fi DAC work in all apps or this limited to the built in music player? No one seems to be able to answer this online.
How well does the ir blaster work compared to the g4? On g4, I have to aim it right at the source.

I have already replied at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63512060&postcount=14 , but that is completely untrue.
The Hi-Fi works at least with Google Play Music. I have tested it on a F600S.
The DAC, at first, only works with the stock music app, and as reported, Google Play (downloaded content only!). However, there is an app on the play store that enables it for pretty much anything. The app does work, thankfully, at least well enough to get the DAC active with Poweramp. Look for "DAC Fix".

I've used the Sandisk 32G (available here on amazon) with no problems. I've been able to transfer files both directions and watch video directly from the inserted drive.
IR blaster is very small and located on the top where you'd probably expect. I tested it successfully with my television.

Not very good compared to my old Note 3, Note 4, Note 4 Edge nor my Gear 2 Neo smartwatch. I think the IR blaster range is the only disappointment that I have on this device. I have to be within a few (4 maybe) feet for it to work with my TV. With my previously mentioned Samsung devices, even the watch, I could use the IR blaster from across the room (15 feet or more).
I guess I must not be that far away from my devices, I've not noticed a difference between my old note 3 and the V10 for the IR
My IR works 20 plus feet. I can control living room tv from the bedroom.

IR blaster works for me for about 4-5 meter
I am wondering if mine is defective. I have to get so close... But, I'm not sure I want to swap out my phone although it is pretty convenient to use it though.

My V10's IR blaster controls my tv and dish receiver from over 20 feet away. I do have to aim right at what I'm trying to control, as well as enter the first command after opening app more than once before dish responds. I'm very pleased with it. Awesome for lost broken and no battery remotes controls. Setup was fast and easy. :good:

So back to the USB OTG, I can't get mine too work at all on my v10. Not sure if I am doing something wrong or if I just possibly got a bad cable.

I highly suspect you are trolling about this issue, but neither the Note5 or the Note7 have IR blasters,
and guys... for those of you crying about IR blaster... I know it sucks, but do yourself a favor and just get a harmony hub. it gives you an app that talkes to a wifi IR blaster that can control all your tv / receivers / etc.. and it works with ANY phone or tablet you have lying around. I know it sucks that it isn't built in any more, but its not going to change at this point. If you are one of the few percentage that took advantage of the blaster, just get the harmony hub and call it a day.

The Harmony hub is a little black device that sits on your tv stand or in your media cabinet. It is a wifi enable device that also has an IR blaster. When you install the harmony app on your phone or tablet, it talks to the harmony hub over wifi. When you want to send a command to your TV or receiver or otherwise, you use the app which sends a message over the wifi connection to the harmony hub which in turn uses its IR blaster to send the command to your TV / audio system / game console.
The harmony hub has an extensive compatibility list supporting almost every device that can be controlled with a remote. The fact that it works over wifi means that you can use pretty much any phone or tablet at all as a remote.

Thanks. Looks like this is a good alternative.
Only two things left to worry about now. ..
- Lack of removable battery. .. (I am almost always rotating batteries on my Note Edge)
- functionality of the Edge. I like the way the edge works on the note Edge. Ie it's a genuinely independent screen and is one icon thick so doesn't detract from main screen.
What about the DAC?
Is this better than the Note 5?
Is it the same one as they put in the S7 Edge?

I have this question as well. I've heard the US Snapdragon 820 version has a less than stellar DAC compared to the Exynos version of the S7 Edge. My bet is the Note7 is in the same situation as the s7 edge.

At the unveiling event they stated it had a improved DAC, not sure what that ment.

I had the Exynos S7 Edge & the headphone audio was garbage compared to my Note 5. If the Note 7 Had the same audio chip I think I'll pass.
Surely somewhere on the net there is a hardware breakdown of the Note 7?

The US version will have the standard integrated Snapdragon DAC, which is okay, quality wise, while the international (incl.Canada) version running Samsung's own Exynos SoC, will have a Lucky CS47L91 Sound DAC, which is speculated to be a Wolfson with a new name since Wolfson got picked up by a company some time ago, and the Lucky chip has the same model ID as the old Wolfson.
Both Support 24 Bit.

Is this the chip that is in the S7 Edge Exynos?
Yeah, the list of improvements is really big! However, there is one downgrade that bothers me a lot: the external speaker audio quality.
It so high pitched and lacks bass. Note 5 sound is waaaay better and louder.

I used to park in fast food places parking lots and turn off their menu/TV's from the car. Can't do that with this hub you speak of. I also turned off the TV at a restaurant because the servers decided a game was more important than their customers waiting on food/drinks. I'm a ****, I know but I am a merciful **** at times.
So as i undderstand there is a speaker in the moto 360 2, and today i recieved an android wear update that listed speaker usage for calls and sounds as one of the changes, anyone figure out how to enable this on the watch?
AFAIK, the Moto 360 2015 does NOT have speakers...

Android Wear is completely independent from the Moto 360 2nd gen. It's just the app that allows ANY Android Wear device (Moto 360, LG Urbane, Huawei Watch, etc) to share information between the phone and device. That spec in the update was only referring to some sort of fix or tweak for those Android Wear devices who DO have speakers.
The Moto 360 2nd gen (and 1st gen) does not have built-in speakers, so this change in the update does not apply to our watches. Simply put, without a speaker, no update in the world could magically make your watch produce sound. Lol

Since the band now connect to lugs instead of the phone body, that slot beneath the microphone is there to assist in opening the device. It is not a speaker outlet.
Besides, it would really be awkward to talk to a watch in public XD
I don't even use my phone on handsfree when in public.
I saw my brother do it a few times with his Apple Watch (phone conversation that is). It wasn't exactly clear and easy, but it wasn't terrible either.
If my watch had a speaker I'd probably use it in a pinch if I couldn't get my phone out right away or I was a maybe in a different room in my house. But then I'd probably only do it long enough to answer the call and tell the caller to hold on while I went to the other room to get my phone.
At work I usually have my BT headset on so I wouldn't use it then... well, except for days like today when I forgot to grab it, dangnabbit!
I'm really pissed of with Google, it seems that their ways to stop us from using what they doesn't want is by killing what we use...
My Nexus 5X already died into the bootloop issue, and today I've just seen that the Nexus 6P is having the exact same issue, which they say as a faulty hardware (Really? 2 completely different brands, with the EXACT SAME ISSUE? You must to be kidding me..).
This is not the first time that Google is killing what we use.
I'm a user of Miracast technology, since marshmallow it wasn't present, but you could activate via a build.prop tweak if you are rooted, in nougat they introduced a bug (yes, intentionally), that the phone will crash If you this tweak and connect to the tv, forcing me to buy their Chromecast 2.
This is not the only thing, have you ever wondered why the hell it doesn't has QI charging? To make us to use their "Fast charging USB C solution..
The Nexus 6 has also had something similar with it's notification LED, which can be activated only If rooted..
Now I really don't know what to do, I'm thinking of downgrading to Marshmallow before my phone got into bootloop, and not having another paper weight on my desk.
The only thing i can assure is that my next phone will be an Galaxy S8, and not another Google Crap phone.

I agree. It is getting ridiculous. All of the reasons we love the Nexus line are becoming blurry. Miracast is a huge one. Smart tv, Xbox One, and now I have to have a damn Chromecast as well. I'm starting to feel like Apple users must feel. Poor souls.
I don't understand. My Miracast works perfectly fine with Panasonic TVs and LG.

Are you on stock 7.1? Also did you enabled in build.prop and it worked?
My device won't work with my Samsung TV JS7200 or Windows 10 Miracast receiver.

I am on stock 7.0.1 (latest). I didn't change anything in build.prop. I just go to Settings -> Display -> Cast
I've read online that it works with older Miracast (first, second gen) TVs. For e.g. it works with Roku 3 but not 4.

Given that the 6P has a metal build and that no other metal phones(from the top of my head) have Qi charging, I would assume it was due to the the metal build. And in regards to saying that they are just trying to sell "Fast Charging USB C solution", wouldn't you think that they would generate more revenue from implementing a convenient way to charge a phone?
Based on your opinion and what you had said, it sounds like the S8 is the perfect device for you. It's so great to have a plethora of device choices!

Well, my dead Nexus 5X has a plastic body and Google removed QI Charger from it too, something I found really useful, which I was using since Nexus 4 and had to stop on the new ones..

Google played a "good guy" comparing to Apple for a few years now, and I really saw this coming. Basically they're just the same. Profit, profit, profit.
You want to cast? Buy a Chromecast.
I really wouldn't be surprised if their Project Fi gains success, and they decide to lock their future devices to their own network.
Nokia years ago was really something else, but it was in the way of the American capitalism so they had to remove it from their perfect market picture.

I can confirm that miracast works on my Roku 3. I am stock 7.1.1. not rooted.
