I think the problem is not with the recovery but in the root file by Mohan. Because I installed the same recovery but with CF root rather the Mohan one and there is no boot into recovery issue.

I am disagree,if you would have a firmware like me, this fz g530fz , like there isn´t a cf autoroot firmware appropriate (only g530f ank),not my model g530fz, i had the recovery boot problem, I could only fix by flashin philz then (after flash g530f autoroot)

Galaxy S3 Root Problems (cant install zip)

Hello
i have rooted my Galaxy s3 with ODIN and with CF Root 6.4
The phone did reboot and shows SU and CWM
But if i go to Recovery mode in order to install a zip, there is no option to install a zip.
There is only Android System recovery and no CWM recovery.
What is wrong?

Do you have a International S3? Is usb debugging enabled on your phone? Clear cache and dalvik cache, reboot and try again.Uninstall current cwmmanager.apk in system/apps and reinstall cwm manager in system/ apps from here https://www.dropbox.com/s/4vfk5tmd7orgofx/CWMManager.apk.zip with root explorer. Reboot and try again, don`t forget to fix permissions in recovery.

Go to the superuser app and choose unroot in settings. Than reflash CF Root with Odin, that might fix it.

Well, here is a solution!
As you have said, you've flashed the kernel, have you downloaded ROM Manager, from Kousch?
If not. You may want to do that, and flash CWM via the app
For some reason, like with the Galaxy Necus, the kernels for our devices dojn't contain the recovery image. You have to flash seperatly (Mobile Odin or ROM Manager)
Good luck!

I think you are misstaking, on the nexus you have to push a recovery.img to the phone in fastboot mode, on samsung devices that is not needed. Flashing cf root installs superSU, busybox and cwm recovery.

I know. I had the GNexus I also have had a GSII, and an Omnia 7. I know which kernel does what. All I was saying, is that in all the kernels I've ever flashed, there never was an implemented recovery.img... (And I've flashed Siayh, CF Root and the N.E.A.K kernels...)
But never mind. Your way worked out just fine, according to the op. So I guess everything is sorted

AFAIK, ROM Manager is not fully compatible with CF-ROOT/JB (don't remember which, just that it was incompatible with one of those two). Better flash through ODIN.

Try this instead TWRP market download link in first post
Does the same job, download the app from the market and install then install the recovery script from the menu button
Just to clarify, I can install TWRP as suggested above after the phone was rooted via CF ROOT ?
No need to also unlock the boot loader ?
the bootloader is not locked

You cannot install CWM recovery unless you root your phone. . Did you try going to recovery using button combo?? Sometimes, if roots after you manually go into recovery.
If not done, download Galaxy S3 unified toolkit and root using that.

If the cf root procedure was successful I wouldn't worry about installing a diff recovery just yet, lets get the phone booting 1st. Download a custom rom and get it moved onto your external sd card, Boot into recovery(from power off, press volume up, home button and power), make sure its custom and not default. Then install the custom rom zip and reboot it should hopefully fully reboot. then look into installing a newer custom recovery.

If the recovery has been updated to the custom CWM recovery then yes you could flash a rom which will come with root and super user. But it must be the custom recovery if your still on the stock recovery u couldn't flash a custom rom.

yes, saw it. its a custom rom. tried wipe data / cache but didn't work. will try to install custom rom sentinel now.
was able to install the custom rom but kept on rebooting after few minutes. it already happened thrice now.
anything i am missing?
It could be the insecure kernel you used earlier is making it unstable, probably if the custom rom doesn't install a kernel. Only thing I can think of is install an official Samsung g3 rom which should repair all the partitions that might of been damaged or corrupted, use it for a while to make sure no reboots. Then go through root and install of custom rom again. In theory creating a good foundation to install a custom rom on.
Just out of curiosity did u download an official Samsung rom before starting to flash in case u need to send it away or sell it on? If not what network/country are u using? Is the phone locked to the network or unlocked?
Edit:- I never used a kernel flash to root my phone just used cf root 6.4 to get root and custom recovery cwm. I only changed my recovery this weekend to Phil touch.

[Q] How to fix CF-Autoroot on I9300XXUGMK6 stock rom?

I tried rooting my S3 using CF-Autoroot, using Odin. After the update CWM doesn't open saying the binaries are outdated and I have to manually reroot. SuperSU doesnt wont even after updating it from play store. Root explorer does not work. I ldo not want to flash a custom rom. Can someone help me find a fix? I am not so experienced when it comes to rooting. I checked various sites and found that the even the buggy MJ9 firmware has the same issue while rooting. Has it go to do with some change in Android 4.3? I flashed back to the stock rom and removed CF-Autoroot for now.
Actually wanted to post this in the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957273&page=59 . But I can't seem to post in the Development section with less than ten posts.

I would like to do this too, can I just confirm I have this correct?
1) Flash Philz recovery using odin
2) Reboot phone in to recovery
3) Flash cf-auto root file from recovery
4) reboot and go in to recovery and flash supersu 1.8 zip file
So two files are flashed using recovery after flashing philz recovery with odin?
Thanks, I fixed it by downloading CF Autoroot again, and wiping my phone in recovery mode to factory defaults, and flashing using odin. It did the tick. . It was mentioned in another thread, but didn't work when I tried. I think the factory reset fixed it. Though I am not sure.

Two reasons:
- your recovery version in OLD, flash the newest 6.12.8 (can be flashed as zip in current recovery), and see if the issue continues:
http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/i9300
- If you're using SuperSU, enter the app: it should suggest a restart to update Binary (enable it using CWM mode), if it doesn't help,
then try to reflash newest CF-Auto root: http://download.chainfire.eu/229/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-m0-m0xx-gti9300.zip

If you do click "Yes" it will simply flash SuperSU.zip . It is just like when you use CF-Root with Odin, but simpler. This wy you can always be sure that when you boot your ROM you don't have root access.
