HTC M9 disassembled

My 2 day experience so far
Well, I'm in day two on my Sprint M9. I have not been an HTC customer since the very original EVO so I am seeing this device through a different set of eyes than some. My two phones before this were the LG G2 and the Nexus 5.
First the good. This thing is amazingly smooth. It does not feel like I am even making it break to sweat when I use it. I've seen no lag of any kind. I decided not to restore from a previous phone configuration so I set it up from scratch which included downloading many apps and opening them and setting them up. I was doing all of this simultaneously with many apps downloading in the background while I open and setup apps that had finished installing. The phone never missed a beat. It got a little warm but nothing the caused me concern.
Yesterday I used it in the car for a 6 hour round trip drive which included running Google Maps while listening to Pocket Casts. This combination would tax both of my to previous phones. On this device I noticed no ill effects from running both of those apps simultaneously for hours.
I've not really ever experienced what modern day Sense is but I like it. I don't find it intrusive or bloated. I do not like how much padding exists around apps and widgets on the screen. I feel like they could have fit in another row if there was a way to reduce the padding.
The out of the box experience was horrible. It involved two resets from recovery to get to this point. After activating it online, when it was first turn on it performing android update which updated all of the apps. The phone activated and worked properly however it would not sign in to my Google account no matter what I tried including completely removing the Google account and adding it back in. That was the first reset from recovery.
As I began setting it up I noticed the WiFi Calling setting so I went into that menu. It began a profile update at that point and during that process completely disconnected from the Sprint network and my connectivity was dead at that point. WiFi calling did not show as active and I turned off wifi completely but I had no connectivity to the Sprint network at all. A reboot and manual profile update was not successful. I reset network services using the ## code. Still nothing. That was reset from recovery #2.
After that everything setup successfully and the phone is operating without any problems. If I do I reboot I still get a message everytime the android is updating but it does not go through the process of updating any apps. It is just a brief message and the reboot continues as normal.
Yesterday afternoon there was a large amount of updates to HTC apps in the Play Store. I assume that this was HTC making those apps available to the M9 for the first time. That is a great sign since we will be able to get updates without firmware updates. Curiously one app was called HTC Service Pack. Perhaps that is old news for HTC regulars.

@jkcarp94
Please keep the reviews in one place:good:

Well I've had this M9 for several hours now and I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, but I'm really not seeing much of a difference from the modified m8 I upgraded from. I'm obviously gonna give it more time, but for the price so far it's really not looking like it's worth it. I might end up taking advantage of sprint's 14 day return policy.

Thanks Cam

You won't see much a of performance difference. There wasn't lag on the m8 and thus none on the m9 very few apps willr require the m9....

HTC Titan II - Headache

I received my Titan 2 today from HTC. (there is a story background on why HTC send me Titan 2)...
Booted it up, it is fine, until i realized that there is no "HTC Apps" or "AT&T Featured" in Marketplace.
This happened to me before, so i did a hard-reset and put in my AT&T Simcard from my old Titan 1.
I set up everything quick and soon realized that i have no Data Connection, which is lame since 3G still work on my old AT&T Titan 1. I connected to Wifi, Open marketplace and can't find HTC Apps anywhere.
I open HTC hub,and used it to find "HTC Features Apps" from the HTC Hub, and successful pull out the marketplace page for the Connection Setup App. But somehow, It has a mark on it with this line: "This app is not available for your device. Tap here for more info"...
Okay, that was weird, i open the marketplace site on the phone for HTC hub and try to update it, and then i receive the error code 80320011.
It is absolutely lame.
What should i do now? because i am downloading the Stock RUU of the Radiant right now and try to flash it tomorrow then, that is the only option that i know. Emails have been sent to HTC, let's see what they have to say.

I don't think so. But there is the Shipped ROM for Titan 2 that you can download from XDA here.
did you get an international titan 2? or telstra?
That could be the problem, and lucky! I would love to get a hold of the Telstra titan 2 and flash custom roms (when possible) or do you have the at&t titan 2 and how did you manage to get one anyway?
Not much help to offer as I don't know why it won't recognise this for you.
But please do let me know how you got your hands on Titan 2 instead of Titan 1? My Titan has gone for repairs and would be handy in case it has something to do with warranty etc!
drupad what did you send back your titan for? I sent mine back for GPS failure and a dead pixel on the screen it took me 4 weeks to get back, I was livid!

The story behind how i get the Titan 2 goes all the way back on Feb/Mar this year... it is too long that i to tell, lol.
Oh , by the way, i was on Twitter with my pal prjkthack and i have sorted out the solution for both problem.
The Titan 2 is designed to work with LTE, LTE is only for Contract Signer so it might apply the same for 3G when it accept only Data for Contract Plan. I have to add the APN for it in order to make it work (he also confirmed that he had to do the same thing with the One X in order to make it work for GoPhone).
It also solve the problem why i don't get HTC Apps and AT&T Featured on the Marketplace. After i get my 3G working, i have been able to download those stuffs again.
Tell us the story lol

I have made the promise with the supporter that i will not tell this story to anyone else. Because my case was trully unique, and they don't want anybody just do it again. lol.
But just let you know, it took a lot of works between me and the supporters, a lot of thing actually developed when we moved on. And everything ended up by HTC sending me a new Titan 2. I understand they have to hold a lot of pain as much as i do when the problem keep existing.
So yeah, i don't think telling my story is a good idea, since i don't want anybody use it as a method to get a free phone from them either. Even if they know my story, i think they won't made the mistake again...

[Q] GT P7100 (aka 10.1V) Screen issue

Hell-o all..
Sometime ago my 10.1v (P3 or GT-P7100) started making some weird screen vibrations. Something that looked like fuzziness, distortion, something difficult to explain but it happened when using it a lot.

Suddenly it started making the thing more often. I tried different ROM's and kernels but the fuzziness get to an "impossible to read" level.
One day I noticed that it was showing the screen noise also while booting
And so I decided to take the device to samsung for assistance. 3 weeks later they told me that there was a problem with the board and there was nothing they can do about it. So, I got home and dismantled it to find what it seems to me to be the issue:
this is a the magnified section of the wires that connect the board to the lcd screen
I tried to find the same wire on the internet but I failed, so I decided to share my experience so maybe someone got a better idea or know where to find this replacement.
Thanks in advance and any idea is welcome
So sad to hear that they sended your tablet back telling you that they cannot do anything about it, once again, great support samsung... I hope you can fix it :/

very disappointing indeed.. also because this is not my first time having issues with samsung support. (a bit off topic), last year I sent my galaxy nexus for servicing because, being stock, it entered a bootloop it never recovered. As it was on warranty i sent it directly to samsung service, 2 months later it was back with a "firmware update", i tried to turn it on and again bootloop. I refused to take it with me and asked for a replacement. They told me that in order to have it replaced, the device have to be returned for support 3 TIMES for THE SAME REASON.. THEN and only THEN they would give me a replacement.. Well, that second time they LOST my device, so the store gave me gift card with the amount i payed when i bought it and obviously I bought another brand this time..
thanks for the wishes

Dude... Seriously... Samsung never had a great support according to other brands. i bought a nokia lumia 900 a month ago and after 3 weeks my 3G didn't launch anymore (something software related, but just saying..) so i went back to the local nokia store and they reflashed windows 7.8 in the store with everything working and some free microsoft apps for apologize, had my phone back like 15 minutes later, now that's what i call support..
Someone that has opened a P7510 (the 10.1 without the V) and remember or have pictures of the tablet dismantled can please tell me if this wire is the same?

Whatever happened to Federico Carnales?

Back a few years in the early days of android. There once was an app called "launcher pro". For anyone that's been around for some time this app will sound very familiar.
I still remember when I first discovered it and the excitement that came whenever I noticed there was an update for it. With each update the launcher became more and more my favorite. So much so, it had become my standard to compare to. Whenever I tried out another launcher I immediately noticed the difference. Nothing else seemed to compare to the responsiveness and overall smoothness of LP. I would always return to LP because the others seemed to pale in comparison to its glory.
It became one of the first apps I installed anytime I got a new phone. To me it had became synonymous with android and its capabilities. I ended up using it as my daily driver for the next couple of years to come.
Unfortunately Ice Cream Sandwich killed compatibility with LP and so ended my long time relationship with one of the best apps I've ever used To this day I still ponder on the incredible potential exhibited through this app by the mind of an amazing developer.
Federico Carnales is/was a staple for the android community and an example what determination and effort can produce. He's been frighteningly absent from the android world for roughly a year and a half now with his applications on the play store even today. However there they lay unsupported and unfit to install in newer versions of android.
So what happened? Where did he go? I recall a letter written to him because many other like minded individuals began scouring the net in fear of his death. I personally gave up searching the net for an answer for his apparent silence.
So am I the only to remember the good ol days of launcher pro? What was your experience with this app?
Does anyone know of his whereabouts?

Ha ha, thanks for the tip.
Why is the right door always locked?
Anyone know? Hope he is ok.
any news?
Word. As an early android user myself Launcher Pro was a beacon of hope for functional, efficient and beautiful app seekers like me. I still remember the impending launch of the social stream widget that would show a combined stream of all my social networks. I could be wrong but I think at the time the only other widget with such a capability was provided by stock launchers. HTC sense if my memory serves me right.
I lost little time in deciding to buy the pro version on what was a launcher that absolutely had no competition for the features I was looking for. I recall even then Frederico would take his time in implementing new features. That was cool because Frederico was connecting to my needs.
I came upon this post when I happened to search for Frederico after chancing upon LP on the play store and being reminded of my early experiences with Android. I too was intrigued to notice that the app hasn't been updated in years.
Wonder what happened to the developer.
It's nothing uncommon for developers just to stop and walk away. It happens everyday. Mainly with Android developers.
I've been using LP since the first Galaxy S phone came out. Was using it until the other day on a Galaxy S5 with Android L. Wanted to try it on the Pocophone now but it's not on Google Play anymore. Awesome piece of work ...
Yeah... i just wanted to re-download it myself a couple days ago and noticed it was missing... i took the time to chat with Google play help, and this is what they gave me in answer, after checking with the Google play team...

Same here. It really shows what a great app it was if there are this many strangers reminiscing about it over the years. I found similar posts/pages via a Google search of others that have wondered as well.

Verizon remote access everything on your phone?

Can someone explain when and why this came about? I can't find out much on Google other then they started tested it on the revolution phone in 2012. I didn't know anything about this until today while on the phone with a rep discussing switching to another phone and he asked why I wanted to leave my s4. I said due to bad battery life. Then he started telling how I had done everything in settings and such to save battery but went on to tell me exactly when I took my phone off the charger, how much bay percent I had left at that very moment, how many 3rd party apps I had installed and even told me which ones where running in the background at that very moment. I maybe behind on the time but he didn't ask to access my phone like they do when you remote access your computer. Can someone catch me up on this cause I don't to much care for as the article stated that any rep would be able to access your phone as if it was in there hand.

I don't know if it has anything to do with it but I noticed Samsung Knox is enabled by default as a Device administrator and has access to all that stuff. I disabled it.

No its not just the s4. The only thing I could find was that article from March of 2012 and they where hiding it in a ota on the LG revolution phone that didn't sell well to test it out. Now here it is 2014 and they can tell me everything on my phone while I am talking to them in that same phone. Here's the article from then. It's named something else but doesn't mean they couldn't name it something we can't find.

This appears legit and there is also a post on Verizon's website with a question from a user running it.
What the hell is "Security Software Version:??? I highly recommend not going near this if your any kind of customized!!

Sure looks like a copy of the Sprint G3 info screen that's been photoshopped. Also, its really unnecessary to start a vague new thread to call attention to yourself when we have threads on this topic.
I like the Goonies reference.
Nope
That Google+ is my original post. It is in no way altered or photoshopped. As mentioned in my post there may be a reason behind the OTA update. If you'd like more proof to verify please let me know, I'd be happy to oblige..
Contact a developer....you might be able to pull a factory image
@Technical12, follow the steps at the end of the first post. http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-lg-g3/general/reference-stock-img-files-t2966958 and send the files over.
Downloading ABD and I'll attempt to pull the image. Wish me luck...I'm not well versed in this.

Just wish someone would pull their system so we can confirm it. Been on CM12 but wanted all stock features back. Really missing the trusted devices feature.
In case anyone is wondering the guy got a replacement phone which downloaded the update when he turned on the phone. He said he is going to try to pull the system image tomorrow morning.

InB4 people start loosing root and the ability to bump then start whining like a bunch of little gurlz.
#justsayin
I've got my popcorn ready for this upcoming sh*t storm of ill advised LP upgrades People need to practice patience. Updates are usually a bad thing.
But yet...people will take that OTA...seek out that OTA (that they previously had blocked)...and then complain about root being broken and not being able to revert back. Should be a good show :good:
I guess it is starting a slow leak out.... LG Support tool shows that I have an update when I first start the tool app, and then quickly flashes back to "your software is up to date".
I don't think anybody needs to worry about losing root just yet. Other than here, I haven't seen any news about a Verizon G3 update. I'd take this thread with a huge grain of salt.
Well as long as revert is possible were good,! Will see though ,this could be the update that stops that
We see this with every update on every device. People jump to take the OTA, then are mad at manufacture and carrier because they are unable to root or unlock bootloader. Rollback may not be possible with LP update. Look at the Note 3 (where I came from), once you took the 4.4.2 OTA, you were beat for rollback. Chainfire said awhile back how complicated root will be with LP. I will wait for the devs to deliver a pre rooted rom before I ever take an OTA.
LISTEN TO THE WARNINGS IF YOU WANT/NEED ROOT!
My software is official. I'm just not versed in pulling images. And as easy as most say it is I'm not able to do it. If someone would provide some help I could have the image up in an hour.
