[Q] GT P7100 (aka 10.1V) Screen issue - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hell-o all..
Sometime ago my 10.1v (P3 or GT-P7100) started making some weird screen vibrations. Something that looked like fuzziness, distortion, something difficult to explain but it happened when using it a lot.

Suddenly it started making the thing more often. I tried different ROM's and kernels but the fuzziness get to an "impossible to read" level.
One day I noticed that it was showing the screen noise also while booting
And so I decided to take the device to samsung for assistance. 3 weeks later they told me that there was a problem with the board and there was nothing they can do about it. So, I got home and dismantled it to find what it seems to me to be the issue:
this is a the magnified section of the wires that connect the board to the lcd screen
I tried to find the same wire on the internet but I failed, so I decided to share my experience so maybe someone got a better idea or know where to find this replacement.
Thanks in advance and any idea is welcome

So sad to hear that they sended your tablet back telling you that they cannot do anything about it, once again, great support samsung... I hope you can fix it :/

very disappointing indeed.. also because this is not my first time having issues with samsung support. (a bit off topic), last year I sent my galaxy nexus for servicing because, being stock, it entered a bootloop it never recovered. As it was on warranty i sent it directly to samsung service, 2 months later it was back with a "firmware update", i tried to turn it on and again bootloop. I refused to take it with me and asked for a replacement. They told me that in order to have it replaced, the device have to be returned for support 3 TIMES for THE SAME REASON.. THEN and only THEN they would give me a replacement.. Well, that second time they LOST my device, so the store gave me gift card with the amount i payed when i bought it and obviously I bought another brand this time..
thanks for the wishes

Dude... Seriously... Samsung never had a great support according to other brands. i bought a nokia lumia 900 a month ago and after 3 weeks my 3G didn't launch anymore (something software related, but just saying..) so i went back to the local nokia store and they reflashed windows 7.8 in the store with everything working and some free microsoft apps for apologize, had my phone back like 15 minutes later, now that's what i call support..

Someone that has opened a P7510 (the 10.1 without the V) and remember or have pictures of the tablet dismantled can please tell me if this wire is the same?

Well, i searched on the net, and on this forum and got no sucess. i know it seens to be an hardware problem, but at least im asking him, if it could be any kind of software issue, kernell, etc, i really dont know how the amoled display works.
The fact is that i spent all my money, that i took a lot of time to earn, on this phone, that was my dream, and know, on my first day, is becoming my nightmare. any sugestions of what i should try? if worth trying to install custom stuff?
Any help would be apreciated... it seens to be a small area, but just some things thant dont work :
on horizontal : u cant type "dot"
on vertical: cant scroll back the status bar when its down, cant click on "now playing" in music player
All this can be avoided turning the phone, but man, i paid a lot in it...
well, now trying swype, it seens it cant reach the far botton end, where the "dot" is. the screen doesnt seen to be dislocated anyway.. any ideas? please=/
no one had a similar issue, that cant tell me anything except changing phone would fix? im downloading JFD to see i can get something?
maybe kernell, something?
It sounds like the digitizer isn't working properly.
im searching for a screen aligment utility, it could fix my entire problem in a second... if i could move the screen about 2 milimeters up, it would "fix" the entire problem
If you used your credit card to buy it call your bank now and say the seller conducted fraud. Try your hardest to get the payment not to go thru.
I am assuming you bought it used?

i bought in a ebay-like shopping, there isnt mutch i can do, the seller was very honest until now, so i think i will ending get money, or other phone (unfortunaly not an galaxy s, since this was the only he had, and was the phone i wanted all the time)
so what i wish right now, that would avoid me a LOT of headache, was some way to bipass this.
since i dont use swype, using samsung keypad solves another problem. the bar problem isnt mutch anoying, since you can click return to make it go up, well, if the worst happen, and i dont get the money back, i think i will manage to live with it
seens im screwed
There is a chance you could get it exchanged through Samsung. I've heard of people still being able to do that even though they bought it offline. That or, someone correct me if I'm wrong, if you have the good phone insurance through T-Mo, they should be able to replace it. These are just things I've read, so I could be wrong

will give it a try, thanks

[Q] In which state shall I let my phone be serviced by SE?

So, I contacted Sony Ericsson about some problems with a burnt in screen, and after a short conversation (which took a week per e-mail for them to respond after I contacted the marketing office via Twitter ), they will pick a date to pick up my phone at home
(

Now my question is: In which state shall I 'give away' my phone?
Things that obviously need to be fixed:
Lock bootloader (unlocked it using SE website, so no DRM...)
Remove root (what's the best way?)
Factory reset/flash firmware again with PC Companion/SEUS?
Have I forgotten anything or do you know a better method?
Have you got your phone serviced before?
Please let me know in the comments.
Hope I get a new LCD panel!
Edit: they estimate the time it takes at about 10(!) days. And I don't have a backup phone... (Can send texts and read them online though)

I am afraid that your warranty is void once you have unlocked bootloader. They will check your IMEI on their system before they disassemble your phone. Remember you have submitted your IMEI to get unlock code.

But you can request a unlock code, and then just store it, without unlocking you phone. See step 16.
And I hope they don't care about that too much, as the problems is a burnt in screen, not a overheated processor or a software problem.

If you are lucky they will replace your scren without any question (like in my case with a notebook from MSI that i have overclocked and they give me another one new) but all depends on the guy in wich hand is for repair.
So i wish you GOOD LUCK

Yeah, I hope so. I've read that HTC doesn't bother too much if your phone is rooted. I don't know how this is with SE. I will update it when I get my phone back. (If the Customer Service will reply to my last e-mail of a week ago )

[Q] Portions of touch screen unresponsive to touch, but S Pen works

I received an AT&T Galaxy Note (i717) as a gift about a week and a half ago, but right away noticed some wonkiness with the touch screen. In everyday use I noticed that certain portions on the bottom 1/3 of the touch screen were unresponsive/registering multiple inaccurate touches.
While researching the issue, I found the touch and S-Pen tests by dialing *#0*# on the dialer, and found that some rows were unresponsive to touch, but were registering the S-Pen.
Here are the results of the tests:
Touch test:

S-Pen test:
I had taken the phone to a local AT&T store, but they were unable to swap the unit, due to the fact that I received the phone as a gift without any purchase receipt. Also I'm unsure as to how the fact that I received the phone as a gift/don't have a receipt/purchase date will affect my ability to get this phone replaced under warranty.
Can any of you geniuses (no sarcasm intended) tell if this is a hardware/software issue? I've flashed a few roms and found that the problem is persistent so I'm leaning towards this being a hardware issue. If that is indeed the case, is there anything I can do to try and fix this myself? I've taken the phone apart to see if this could be caused by a faulty connection of the digitizer/screen, but once I cracked this baby open, I realized I didn't know which "flap" was the one in question
TIA!!
I have seen some posts about this issue on here. Do a search and you may get some good info.
I'm surprised about the no receipt issue. I'd try a better store or 611 (customer service). There has to be a record tied to the phones IMEA or serial number.

The phone was given to me by my brother-in-law who received this model directly from AT&T corporate (not bought in a store). I believe this is what's causing the (lack of) record issue. Obviously they have it on record of when I started using the phone on the network, however.
I'll keep searching, for sure. Any hints for keywords to use?
I had the AT&T ROM & Software on my Telus device and noticed a MARKED difference between the touch screen responsiveness.
Like immediately noticed this.
When I switched back to the Telus S/W .. problem went away.
That said, I have read about some devices having issues on this... If I can find where I'll post.
Hm, maybe the software could have more to do with it that I suspected.
I won't dismiss that as a potential culprit as well.
Update: I was able to talk an AT&T store employee to getting me another phone via warranty.
i have same problem
i have same problem , please advice me if you find any solution , also i found this on youtube explain same problem under (Galaxy Note: Touch Failed but S Pen works?

un-freaking-believable...

1st Note: bad headphone jack - replaced under 30-day return
2nd Note: bad glass glued down - replaced under 30-day
3rd Note: bad vibration unit - replaced under warranty for refurb
4th Note: really bad black crush - replaced under warranty for refurb
5th Note: phone powers off when tapped (OMG)
Trying to get AT&T to replace the phone with a brand new Note (not refurb) or give me a SGS3 or my $300 back.
They keep either wanting to:
1. send me refurb
2. send me a refurb of a different, lesser phone
3. reset my upgrade date and allow me to purchase a new phone at discount
What does it take to get something resolved here. Anyone have any contacts in AT&T that I can call to get something done?
Some really bad luck you got there. Hope all works out for you

Yup...really talk about bad luck. Maybe its just not meant to be...maybe you're just really destined for the sgs3 or something lol.
My suggestion, ask for your money back and buy one from BestBuy. Their black tie program is the best.
In the end, good luck with everything brotha.
I received my note day one. Never had a problem.
You have super bad luck.

I know. I really love the phone and its screen size but after all this, I'm kind of bummed.
I finally talked to someone who could help and they have decided to send me a brand new Note and i get to keep the "4th Note" for free. So in that regards, AT&T actually came through for me. But now I have to decide on sticking with it, selling and getting a SGS3 or just go with the Galaxy Nexus. I'm just really turned off by Samsung right now. They are a great company but this situation was pretty ridiculous.
wow!!! that is a sign...to get something else...maybe, just keep telling them ATT no refurb...and say your a unsatisfied ATT user...
mean while....ATT hooked me with a what seems to be perfect NOTE...Free!!!
long story short...had a used, out of warranty pantech phone (non smartphone) for my kid, it was unlocked but still ATT phone, well they couldn't put it on the network, 3 tech's and hour later all on the phone, ATT said "tell you what" bigjoe, we will just sent you a new phone & replace that pantech"....."so pick one"...so I did told them a MOFO NOTE!, day later got it which was 2 weeks ago....so went back on ebay and got my kid another pantech...LOL
ok, see ATT took care of you...good deal..
I had something like that happen with me, I had got a skyrocket, and then returned that to get a Note, still in that 14day period, the note wont turn on at one point, and was at the 30day of getting the skyrocket, called their warranty support and they dint have any refurb notes at the facility cause it was too new, after talking with premium customer care, they sent me a new one, and I kept the old one, got it replaced eventually and sold it, also got my first one for $150, so got two of them for $75
I'd be less concerned about the phone and more interested in learning what caused the bad Karma that resulted in so many Note problems...Grasshopper.

Just bought one from Hong Kong on eBay are these all repaired phones sold as new?

Loads of Evo 3D for sale on eBay sold as new, are all these repaired phones, I know the Evo 3D has an touchscreen problem is that where are the eBay phones come from, replace the touchscreen and sell them as new?
I got mine for £49 delivered and it works great, no problems so far but i knew what i was getting, or at least i had an idea, after all the Evo 3D is an 2011 phone, they cannot be still making them.
I got an Otterbox Defender case from eBay for £2.90 as new, as this is an old phone, these use to be like £40 , It make the phone massive and it was big and heavy before.
Anyway i will have a think and ask a few question if this forum is not DEAD.
John.
Turns out my 3D is already S-OFF , so i ran the latest version of kingroot and it said the rooting failed, but my phone is now rooted and i have installed loads of apps that require root.
I need to install Xposed Framwork but the latest version failed to install, anybody know how to get it to work?
Thanks
John.

All the Evo 3Ds you see for sale en mass on Ebay that are labeled "new" or "new other" are all refurbished. It is very rare to find one new in box, and those are the ones you see with ridiculous prices. Sometimes you just have to be lucky and patient in finding a near mint Evo 3D. My first one I bought was from one of those mass lots, and lets say it was a little more than scratched up (the captive lights were shorted and would not turn off even when powered down). The second one I bought here recently was from a private seller and it turned out to be near mint for only 41 bucks!
When you receive a phone already rooted one of two things occurred. Either the previous owner rooted it or the phone at one point caught a virus or 3rd party app that rooted it in secret and was never restored. In the case of the latter S-Off procedures may not work, even when following procedures to re-lock the phone and starting over. Many mods don't even need S-Off, so as long as you have a working mod there is no need to attempt S-Off.
I am not familiar with that App, if the latest version does not work, try an earlier version.
My 3D is virtually perfect, only problem the back capacitive button is half as bright as the others.
Are the micro-sd and micro-sim in different places places on the gsm and the cdma version?
I have had 2 EVO 3D the first i bought from the UK for £90 but the touchscreen was faulty so i got a refund.
Look at the photo below, it has the microsd slot marked twice, are some of these reconditioned phones made out of spare parts
