[Q] In which state shall I let my phone be serviced by SE? - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

So, I contacted Sony Ericsson about some problems with a burnt in screen, and after a short conversation (which took a week per e-mail for them to respond after I contacted the marketing office via Twitter ), they will pick a date to pick up my phone at home

).
Now my question is: In which state shall I 'give away' my phone?
Things that obviously need to be fixed:
Lock bootloader (unlocked it using SE website, so no DRM...)
Remove root (what's the best way?)
Factory reset/flash firmware again with PC Companion/SEUS?
Have I forgotten anything or do you know a better method?
Have you got your phone serviced before?
Please let me know in the comments.
Hope I get a new LCD panel!
Edit: they estimate the time it takes at about 10(!) days. And I don't have a backup phone... (Can send texts and read them online though)

I am afraid that your warranty is void once you have unlocked bootloader. They will check your IMEI on their system before they disassemble your phone. Remember you have submitted your IMEI to get unlock code.

But you can request a unlock code, and then just store it, without unlocking you phone. See step 16.
And I hope they don't care about that too much, as the problems is a burnt in screen, not a overheated processor or a software problem.

If you are lucky they will replace your scren without any question (like in my case with a notebook from MSI that i have overclocked and they give me another one new) but all depends on the guy in wich hand is for repair.
So i wish you GOOD LUCK

Yeah, I hope so. I've read that HTC doesn't bother too much if your phone is rooted. I don't know how this is with SE. I will update it when I get my phone back. (If the Customer Service will reply to my last e-mail of a week ago )

Desperate for help: display dead zone

Guys, i really need help... Well my phone got a problem... first day using it, and im almost sure i will have an HARD time to exchange, since the seller is a pain, and i bought from internet
there is a small area, above the samsung logo and under the square buttons (contact, message, etc) that dont get touchs. about the "phone" "message" letters, you can see it here :

Well, i searched on the net, and on this forum and got no sucess. i know it seens to be an hardware problem, but at least im asking him, if it could be any kind of software issue, kernell, etc, i really dont know how the amoled display works.
The fact is that i spent all my money, that i took a lot of time to earn, on this phone, that was my dream, and know, on my first day, is becoming my nightmare. any sugestions of what i should try? if worth trying to install custom stuff?
Any help would be apreciated... it seens to be a small area, but just some things thant dont work :
on horizontal : u cant type "dot"
on vertical: cant scroll back the status bar when its down, cant click on "now playing" in music player
All this can be avoided turning the phone, but man, i paid a lot in it...
well, now trying swype, it seens it cant reach the far botton end, where the "dot" is. the screen doesnt seen to be dislocated anyway.. any ideas? please=/
no one had a similar issue, that cant tell me anything except changing phone would fix? im downloading JFD to see i can get something?
maybe kernell, something?
It sounds like the digitizer isn't working properly.
im searching for a screen aligment utility, it could fix my entire problem in a second... if i could move the screen about 2 milimeters up, it would "fix" the entire problem
If you used your credit card to buy it call your bank now and say the seller conducted fraud. Try your hardest to get the payment not to go thru.
I am assuming you bought it used?

i bought in a ebay-like shopping, there isnt mutch i can do, the seller was very honest until now, so i think i will ending get money, or other phone (unfortunaly not an galaxy s, since this was the only he had, and was the phone i wanted all the time)
so what i wish right now, that would avoid me a LOT of headache, was some way to bipass this.
since i dont use swype, using samsung keypad solves another problem. the bar problem isnt mutch anoying, since you can click return to make it go up, well, if the worst happen, and i dont get the money back, i think i will manage to live with it
seens im screwed
There is a chance you could get it exchanged through Samsung. I've heard of people still being able to do that even though they bought it offline. That or, someone correct me if I'm wrong, if you have the good phone insurance through T-Mo, they should be able to replace it. These are just things I've read, so I could be wrong

[Q] GT P7100 (aka 10.1V) Screen issue

Hell-o all..
Sometime ago my 10.1v (P3 or GT-P7100) started making some weird screen vibrations. Something that looked like fuzziness, distortion, something difficult to explain but it happened when using it a lot.

}
Suddenly it started making the thing more often. I tried different ROM's and kernels but the fuzziness get to an "impossible to read" level.
One day I noticed that it was showing the screen noise also while booting
And so I decided to take the device to samsung for assistance. 3 weeks later they told me that there was a problem with the board and there was nothing they can do about it. So, I got home and dismantled it to find what it seems to me to be the issue:
this is a the magnified section of the wires that connect the board to the lcd screen
I tried to find the same wire on the internet but I failed, so I decided to share my experience so maybe someone got a better idea or know where to find this replacement.
Thanks in advance and any idea is welcome
So sad to hear that they sended your tablet back telling you that they cannot do anything about it, once again, great support samsung... I hope you can fix it :/

very disappointing indeed.. also because this is not my first time having issues with samsung support. (a bit off topic), last year I sent my galaxy nexus for servicing because, being stock, it entered a bootloop it never recovered. As it was on warranty i sent it directly to samsung service, 2 months later it was back with a "firmware update", i tried to turn it on and again bootloop. I refused to take it with me and asked for a replacement. They told me that in order to have it replaced, the device have to be returned for support 3 TIMES for THE SAME REASON.. THEN and only THEN they would give me a replacement.. Well, that second time they LOST my device, so the store gave me gift card with the amount i payed when i bought it and obviously I bought another brand this time..
thanks for the wishes

Dude... Seriously... Samsung never had a great support according to other brands. i bought a nokia lumia 900 a month ago and after 3 weeks my 3G didn't launch anymore (something software related, but just saying..) so i went back to the local nokia store and they reflashed windows 7.8 in the store with everything working and some free microsoft apps for apologize, had my phone back like 15 minutes later, now that's what i call support..
Someone that has opened a P7510 (the 10.1 without the V) and remember or have pictures of the tablet dismantled can please tell me if this wire is the same?

[Q] where to start ?

Hi i think my S2 is falling behind in updates so i consider installing a custom rom, i just dont know where to start ?
Can anybody help me ?
What do i need to know ?
Wich rom to choose ?
There is no "best rom" so try to google or look at forums to see the one that suit you the most.
If you need light one then try Slim Bean or if u need a lot of options go for CM10.
There is a lot roms so you need to find the one u like the most. Most of them are great, its just what u like/need.
Try reading this thread before starting and make sure you are confident in what you are doing.

You should probably buy a usb jig, find out where your nearest j-tag center is(for future reference), and a mb is about £100 if your out of warranty.
1.yes
2.almost everything
3.take your pick

Well if others can do it, i can too
There is just so much to read, maybe i didnt have to read it all
Almost every person who has busted their phone to one extent or another on here lately (and there has been quite a few) did so because they thought 'There is just so much to read, maybe i didnt have to read it all'.
The likelihood of you borking your phone increases exponentially depending on how little you read/learn/understand. Take your time, don't do anything to your phone unless you understand exactly what you're trying to do to it.

Thats right, you dont need to read it all.Because of the popularity of the phone, loads of threads have 1000s of posts-so for now just read the first few of the ones you need.
And in this forum, you find almost everything covered each week and it just like a bootloop the following week (same crap different people).
So read a few guides about odin/cwm/roms/kernel/efs/nand backup/brickbug/bootloop etc.
And look through the problems here.Youll find the solutions posted which will increase your knowlege.
Some people know so much about brick bug....they became experts by having their devices bricked because of that bug.

Xperia XA Ultra F3213 factory reset trouble

A friend gave me this phone with zero background information and asked if i could factory reset it. I accepted the challenge.
There's a password prompt when you turn the phone on, so i decided to try resetting it with fastboot. Assuming i need to unlock the bootloader I went to sony's site, put in the imei and got the unlock code. Here's what i got:

punching in the *#*# whatever number doesn't work since i get an error due to the password prompt, so i can't tell if the bootloader can even be unlocked in the first place. I'm not even sure if that is required to just do a factory reset to allow me to use the phone. Any ideas?

That's smell the stolen device on here... Prove me that I'm wrong and I will help you, I dislike having no background informations
lol well, to be honest, what I was told was my friend's coworker "found it," but she let him have it after seeing the password screen. It does kinda reek of "stolen" property. And assuming it is, it's actually pretty ironic that I'm in this situation. Got my phone stolen (nexus 6p) on 8/29/16 around 5:30pm (lol i know, never forget) during an interview with a client at my job (i'm a caseworker). Crazy thing is this wheelchair-bound guy with one missing leg managed to leave the building with my phone AND the phone (iphone 6s) of another worker that sat with him before me and then referred him to my department. I dunno about that other worker, but I couldn't track mine down since the data was turned off (was still getting used to project Fi). So I filed a police report. Using my oneplus 2 now.
I really don't want to be on record here carrying out questionable activity (i also use this site a lot) so if that's really the end of the pursuit for this phone due to integrity issues, then fine. But, if it is stolen, they could have blacklisted the IMEI anyway (like I did to mine). However, after coping with losing a phone I bought outright, I would much rather know someone is at least using it in some other country (i heard blacklisting IMEI numbers isn't an international thing) instead of throwing it away because they can't get past the password screen.

Sorry I will not help, but YOU can help the original owner of the device. Remove the Sim, look at the provider name, call them and they will find the owner with the Sim number printed on it. Maybe the owner will give a reward to your friend for that
I'm not here to give lessons but I hope that you will understand why I will not help for that.
Good day sir, can you help me with my Xperia XA ultra single sim phone? after input code it stuck in Xperia logo only
hoping for your response sir.

Question Visible Mobile Bootloader Unlock Eligibility

Hello. Does anyone here have the Visible Mobile version of the borneo? Or does anyone know if the Visible Mobile version is eligible for bootloader unlock? It uses Verizon Network, so I'm very cautious of it.

Whatever that info is worth.

well, maybe someone will get one and reply here.
You could just sign up on motorola and try it. You bought the phone and paid outright for it. Motorola doesn't restrict that stuff. they don't use special software for their phones its just the generic retus software.....

They do if you buy from some carriers like At&T, Verizon...
My moto g8 power is visible and I'm running an unlocked bootloader on it using lineage. I bought mine direct from visible. I doubt they changed from retus with the 2021 version....
I am a visible subscriber and I requested a network unlock, though I don't think I really need that. Will let you know later as I'm about to mod this Motorola g power. They use a third party to finance the phones so, no reason they would bind you too it (no contract).

You're talking about network sim unlock. The discussion in the thread so far is referring to unlocking the device's bootloader so as to allow custom image flashing and other advanced instructions for modding.
Yes I know what you are referring to. It does not require anything special except flipping a switch in settings. Don't know why I posted the other. Brain fart.
