as many of you know that all firmwares after ne6 cant be rooted with towelroot. here is a quick tutorial with links on how to downgrade to ne6 and then upgrade to the latest firmware and keep root. this is for those who also want to keep knox at 0x0.
1. DOWNLOAD G900TUVU1ANE6 FULL STOCK TAR FROM HERE https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358541270
2. uNZIP THE FILE AND FLASH IT USING PC ODIN. WHICH YOU CAN GET HERE https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23212708291676783
3. ROOT WITH TOWELROOT . TOWELROOT IS HERE https://towelroot.com/
4.DOWNLOAD MOBILE ODIN PRO FROM THE PLAYSTORE IT WILL COST YOU AROUND $6
5.DOWNLOAD THE NEWEST STOCK TAR G900TUVU1CNK2 FROM SAMMOBILE OR FOR A MUCH FASTER LINK GET IT here https://mega.co.nz/#!lVEVUCZK!AZQLNxZ7-1VHtefWyHr1Rn_fnJo7xe_Hv9DMRXaYs0E
6. UNZIP THE FILE AND COPY IT TO YOUR SDCARD OR INTERNAL STORAGE ON YOUR PHONE.
7. USING MOBILE ODIN PRO CHOOSE THE OPEN FILE SELECTION AND THEN CHOOSE THE FILE THAT YOU COPIED TO THE PHONE
8. IGNORE THE WARNING FROM MOBILE ODIN REGARDING KNOX. IT WONT TRIP. TICK EVEROOT AND INJECT SUPERSU FLASH THE PHONE .
YOUR PHONE SHOULD BE ROOTED ONCE IT RESTARTS AND ON THE NEWEST FIRMWARE.
YOUR BOOTLOADER CAN NOT BE UPGRADED BY MOBILE ODIN. THAT CAN BE FLASHED SEPERATELY BY USING PC ODIN.LOOK FOR THE BOOTLOADER FILE IF YOU WISH TO UPGRADE IT BUT IN MY OPINION IT IS NOT CRITICAL TO INSTALL AT THIS POINT. Links on 8 are not working.
Can SuperSU be upgraded to latest version on Play Store or is that not necessary?
Thanks for this!!!!!

So what are the implications of keeping the bootloader NE6? Everything else is NH5 in Samsung Phone Info.

after flashing ane2 with pc odin. root the phone with towelroot.
then install mobile odin pro . use mobile odin to to flash ang8
mobile odin will retain root if you tick everoot and inject supersu.
the ang8 full tar can be downloaded from sammobile or samsung updates or the firmware thread
. it includes the bootloader and the modem as well as everything else you would need,
the thing is that the bootloader cant be flashed with mobile odin.
for that you would need to flash just the bootloader in pc odin .

[Q] Having trouble rooting my Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4

So I have been trying to root my samsung phone but it has not been working. I tried downloading towel root, but it says that my phone is not supported. My phone is running build number KOT49H.I545VRUFNG6 and android 4.4.2 with kernel version 3.4. I have tried using Odin 3.09 to flash the NG5 build number to see if towelroot would work with that, but when I plugged my phone into my computer and tried going into download mode on my phone, it would not work. I already factory reset my phone twice to see if that would work, but it has not. Are there any other ways to root my phone, or am I doing something obviously wrong that is easy to fix? Any help would be appreciated.
hamglass - TowelRoot won't root NG6; you will continue to receive that "not supported" error message every time unless you downgrade. Go to this link below, and then scroll down until you find the section I pasted below the link. You'll want to download the second file, the NC5 rar, then follow the steps prescribed.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2720163
All you need to do is download one of the following 2 all in one upgrade rar files:
I545VRUFNC2-AIO-incl-modem-hlos-nobootloaders-gogolie.rar
or
I545VRUFNC5-AIO-incl-modem-hlos-nobootloaders-gogolie.rar
Each .rar file when unpacked (NC2 or NC5 .rar files must be unpacked!) contains the following apps / odin flashable images:
Odin 3.10 (The newest and best option for Odin.)
SuperSu 1.94 (IN both a flashable thru Safestrap .zip and a .apk - thanks to Chainfire)
SafeStrap 3.72 (Thanks to Hashcode)
SeLinux Permissive Enabler / Mode Changer 1.2 (Thanks to MrBIMC)
TowelRoot v2 (Huge Thanks to geohot)
Android Terminal Emulator v1.0.53.apk
and finally...
I545VRUFNCx-AIO-incl-modem-hlos-nobootloaders-gogolie.tar
YOU CAN KEEP THE ODIN PROGRAM AND FLASHABLE FILE ON YOUR COMPUTER BUT MOVE ALL APKS TO PHONE OR SDCARD 1ST.
which is the magic file you select in Odin under AP slot and press flash to upgrade without bootloaders. This is a modified Odin image I made that also includes a .pit for mapping itself and a modem/hlos so its essentially a 1 and done file! You might need to boot into recovery and do a data wipe if you receive any FC's or issues on 1st boot (then restart and should be good to go). This is a no-wipe odin flashable image with no bootloaders or other crap just firmware and system.img and modem.
Directions to enable Root on NC2 or NC5 stock ROM & to get SafeStrap fully working:
1. Flash the odin image in AP slot for either system you want to upgrade to. (NO BOOTLOADERS OR GARBAGE FLASHED!)
2. Boot up system. If any errors occur restart to recovery (vol-up and power) then wipe data and restart. Or wipe data before flashing!
3. Once booted open TowelRoot.apkl and install and run the app. Then click on the T logo/gray box to root 4.4.2! NO REBOOT REQUIRED!!! [EisBlade: not mentioned is that it's necessary to click the box in settings to allow installs from unknown sources. Do that then return and retry install of TowelRoot apk.]
4. Now open the SeLinux Permissive Enabler / Mode Changer 1.2.apk and install the app. Open the application and click the "Permissive" box.
5. Next install Safestrap and open the app. Click install Recovery once booted. Then you can flash SuperSu .zip like normal in Safestrap. You can also also install from the Playstore or from the .apk in the AIO .rar file. However SuperSu isnt necessary its useful if you intend on controlling your ROOT.
6. Finally for a custom ROM you would reboot to Safestrap and install it in the Main/Stock Slot. Keep root by following any ROM install with SuperSu.zip!!!
7. Enjoy the easiest upgrade method known to man. Be sure and donate or thank, me or one of the fine developers mentioned above.

- root using Flashtool,
- flash TWRP http://nut.xperia-files.com/path/XZDualRecovery/Older_Releases/XZDualRecovery_2.8.21
- flash a prerooted rom using TWRP 2.8.21, http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z2-tablet/general/prerooted-zip-vmo-ru-ua-kz-t3362729
- flash TWRP 3.0 can download from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3/general/wip-sony-android-6-0-mm-t3337357 Recroot combined v 4

"Flash" means installing something to the internal memory.
You need to go back to a "rootable" version and after having your terminal rooted you can flash the latest rooted ROM.
Following the instructions on this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/xp...lipopprerooted231a128z2-tabletsgp511-t3100821 I suggest you:
Flash the Lollipop 23.1.A.1.28 firmware with Flashtool;
Unlock the bootloader (not sure it is strictly needed but better avoid potential issues) with Flashtool (use the Sony website to get the unlock code as the automatic retrieval of Flashtool did not work for me);
Root using the script mentioned in the thread;
Flash the custom recovery;
Flash the rooted 6.0.1 ROM.

You cant make the root with the flashtool! Copy the SuperSu (download newest zip) on your tablet (anywhere) and proceed with this: "TabZ2-lockeddualrecovery2.8.21-RELEASE.installer" you already downloaded from the tutorial. when you launch the "install.bat", the tablet will be rooted and twrp installed it auto-boot into twrp and now you can isntall your copied supersu zip then you can proceed with the tutorial
Got it fixed. In my first CWM Backup from the Dualrecovery Package (installer) was a working boot.img All fine now!

I suppose the baseband (CP) version you have attached is G850FXXU1CPC1
I have version G850FXXU1COJ5 and can't update - Odin can't flash, no details for the error, just failed 1. The full name of the ROM I had flashed is
G850FXXS2CQA2_G850FOLB2COJ1_G850FXXU1COJ5_HOME.tar.md5
and previously I had used
G850FXXU2COK6_G850FOLB2COJ1_G850FXXU1COJ5_HOME.tar.md5
which seem to have same baseband.
Why can't I update the baseband?
Thank you
Hi,
I am trying to flash newer baseband from what I have: G850FXXU1COJ5
I tried but failed with flashing through odin of the following two:
G850FXXU2COK6.bin
G850FXXU1CPC1.bin
Perhaps I am making a mistake in flashing it, but I am not aware which is newer or what is the difference between these two U2 COK6 and U1 CPC1
U2 > U1, but COK6 < CPC1, so which one is newer?
Thanks
